Michaeluzomam:
Abia State Internal Revenue Service releases statement on the alleged fake tax clearance of Ikpeazu, says its not fake!

Abia State Internal Revenue Service has reacted to the alleged fake tax clearance certificate the state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, reportedly presented during the state's PDP governorship primaries in 2014.

According to a statement released by the state's internal revenue service this morning, the tax certificates of Ikpeazu are not fake and were duly issued by them.

There is tension in the state currently after a High court in Abuja ordered Ikpeazu to vacate his office after his opponent in the state's PDP overnorship
primaries, Uche Ogar,
proved to the court that Ikpeazu tendered fake tax credentials to their party. Read full text of the statement released by the Abia state internal revenue and signed by its chairman, Udochukwu G.
Ogbonna, below

The attention of the Abia State Internal Revenue Service has been drawn to a court judgement of the Federal High Court Abuja on the tax clearance certificate issued to Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu by the Service, and hereby makes the following clarifications:

1. That the tax clearance certificate referred to in that Judgment was duly issued to Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu by the Service, and was therefore not fake.

2. That the taxes for the years 2011,2012 and 2013 were PAYE taxes deducted at source from his personal emoluments by his employers (Abia State Passengers’ Integrated Manifest Scheme and Abia State Environmental Sanitation Authority respectively) and remitted to the service in the relevant tax years

3. That the dates on the tax receipts of the relevant years (2011, 2012 and 2013) did not
suggest that they were paid on those dates, but only reflected the date he applied to be issued with the receipts, because that was when he needed them.

4. In the same vein the dates on the tax receipts did not suggest that they were written out on those days. The date on the receipts only indicates the last day of the last month of the year, when the PAYE tax payer became
entitled to the receipts, as the receipts could not have carried a date earlier or later than the 31st December of the relevant tax year. It is immaterial that it fell on a Saturday, Sunday or any other day of the week. For example if 31st December 2011 fell on a Saturday, in the month following i.e January, when the receipts are to be written out, it cannot carry any date in January 2012 or any other month in 2012.

5. That his taxes having been deducted by his afore said employers and remitted to the service within the relevant years will not be said to have been paid on the same day, as such were paid as at
when due. In fact the issue of payment as at when due does not apply to PAYE taxes
because the tax payer has no part to play in the deduction and remittance of his PAYE as the same is done by his employer. Where there is failure to deduct and remit PAYE taxes, it is the employer and not the tax payer that is liable. See LSIRS and Seven Up Bottling Company reported in year 2000.

Having stated the facts as they are above, we make bold to say that the tax returns filed by Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu to his party (Peoples Democratic Party) were neither false nor fake and cannot be said to amount to fraudulent payment of taxes.

Consequently, we affirm that both the Tax Clearance Certificate and the tax receipts referred to in the afore said judgment were the documents of Abia State Internal Revenue Service because same was authored by the Service as the authority
empowered by law to do so.

Finally, we state emphatically for the records and for the attention of the general public that we were never invited (subpoenaed) by the court or the plaintiff, Dr.
Uchechukwu Ogah during the pendency of the subject suit that led to the judgment in Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu’s tax matter to state the authenticity or otherwise of the tax papers in issue.

Udochukwu G. Ogbonna
Executive Chairman.

Try this with some really mad landlords and its not only your possesions that will be locked up.

My rent expired on the 31st of May 2016. I have been away for sometime. So I went to move my things on the 26th of June 2016. I met a chain and padlock at my apartment. She hasn't given me an eviction notice! Honestly, I have not paid the electricity bills for about 4-5 months because there was an outstanding debt of 25k on the meter accrued by the last tenant, which the power company insisted must be cleared first. I plan to give her what I owe! Is she right to lock the apartment? What course of redress should I take? Pls if u must insult or call me names, make sure you also give a constructive advice. Thank you.
She is wrong to use self help to recover possession, if she wants to eject u she has to follow the law.

Since u really intend to move out, break dt lock and gain possession dt house still technically belongs to u until ejected even if u r owing. After that maintain u didn't kw its ur landlady dt locked it since she never informed u anyway. Nothing will happen and from there u guys will make little trouble n then settle things angry

If anybody locks my house while I am away I will break it once I am arnd immediately n face d result infact I will maintain I think it's thieves dt wants to steal my properties.

Op dnt b a coward act nw n dnt allow dt illiterate woman to maltreat u. Break d rubbish lock its jst common sense Yes u r wrong to owe electric bill n one month rent but she is wrong to lock ur houz absolutely.

Is like some landlords dt will remove d roof of ur house for owing dt is self help n d law does nt accommodate it

my wife's father is late and mother is alive. Both my parents are still alive.

we want to work out how much money to send to the parents each month and the problem is she wants to send the same amount both ways. My issue with that is if we send the same amount both ways then one side will need to split the amount between 2 people, yet the other side is one person.

I feel that to make it fair we need to to send by person rather than the side of family. This way each parent gets the same amount of money

what are your thoughts
Let her take care of her parents n u take care of urs if both of u r working.

There is still no need hiring workers. If they have to hire workers then it defeats the purpose of the exercise for graduates to work and earn some wages and experience. Why pay out money to workers when the graduates/investors can do the work and earn that money they pay to those workers? The salaries the investors will earn will be lesser cos you will have to substract the hired workers pay from the profits. I don't really know if you understand my point.
Everyone of d contributors can't b employed by d company so what happens to d thousands dt will b left unemployed, dnt u think they will feel used n shortchanged by those dt will be employed. It will b even difficult to employ 500 at start up then 4500 will b left out. Even among d employed who becomes gateman, cleaner, secretary, driver, CEO, directors, manager, oga n boy since they r all equal as graduates. Remember these roles determine salary to b paid.

It can't work if d owners r to serve as employees, it will only work if owners remain equal shareholders n outsiders engaged as employees n management. My final take

Graduates are complaining on a daily basis about lack of jobs and it would likely get worse as the population rises and graduates keeps pouring into the already saturated job market. So what if about 5000 graduates team up and contribute about N70,000 each to setup a joint venture for themselves? They would raise a total capital of N350 million which I believe is huge enough to start a big business and grow it bigger. The government can still add additional N20,000 per head increasing the capital base to N450 million. Instead of graduates hoping on inexistent jobs or opening small small fish farms and kiosks here and there wouldn't it be better they contribute together and set up something bigger? Can this arrangement work?
It will work but the contributors will not be allowed to work for d company they will remain equal share holders. There will be 5000 shares with each individual owning a unit. They will campaign n elect a 2years tenor chairman from amongst themselves who will b required to contribute 5 times others ie 350k onces elected. Management will b constituted outside d owners who will employ d workers outside d owners based on needs n competence.

During AGM profit made for d yr will b shared among d 5000 owners.

Alternatively 5000 units of shares can be sold to d public at 70k per share and d highest share holder becomes d chairman n this proceeds d formation of d company.

Hello guys...I'm having a real big confusion as to which business i should invest in..

As a medical doctor i know i should open a private hospital instead but over the years I've lost interest in private practise as patients always default in payments citing numerous excuses...some even fight you after they get well from your treatment and this same ppl go to club to blow their cash on sex and booze without blinking an eye.....This has discouraged me in setting up a Private hosp even though my passion for the job is intact.

However my friend tells me one can still make his gains in a hospital setup notwithstanding the challenges but I'm really thinking of setting up a beer parlor since that's what people love to spend their money on however the numerous bars around also discourages me as they'll be stiff competition and people may soon cut down or even stop drinking with this harsh economy and might pay attention to their health instead....

Guys wat do y'all think cos I'm very confused ryt now.
Ppl will never stop drinking BC of harsh economy it is a habit cool u can open a bar n a consulting clinic not a hospital
