Nigeria does not rely solely on so-called Ijaw oil. Ijaws are not the only people with oil for their backyard. Igbo, Ogoni, Efik/Ibibio, Urhobo, etc lands got oil wells but they are not screaming oil everyday or thinking that oil is the only way to make money. Abeg enough of the bulls**t.

The others could atleast farm their land, and they could take their sick to a hospital within a day, even if it means going to lagos for treatment. The Ijaws can't do that. They have no land to farm, no roads to drive on. Before criticising, note that am not Ijaw.

Going regional is the best thing at this moment. Most of the states are not viable economically, grouping 6 states into regions that can pool funds together will help.
But someone needs to tell the Northerners to sit up. No nation grows by having over 50% of its population deliberately not contributing anything and being supported by others.

I guess the best way to solve the problem is for the government to take the problem seriously. Some progress has been made in that direction but more still needs to be done. One step I think was that all PC's on the internet in Nigeria are now required to have a static IP address. Hence messages originating from a particular PC can be traced to that PC.

What need to be done is for the govt to set up a unit in the police to police the Internet and catch does sending fraud mails. there are technologies to solve it and it only require seriousness on the part of the government.

Also citizen should report those involved in these fraudulent activities, the question is who do they report to?
A simple way of making reporting to be effective is to compensate those who report. using the Singapore model for combacting drug trafficking can help.
Simply give a part of the asset of a convict to the informant and you will see Lot of people actually turning in the fraudsters.

Fraudsters are just a little % of Nigerians, but their effect on all Nigerians is real and very damaging, the question is how long will the innocent Nigerians suffer silently before doing something to help themselves.

Just check Alibaba.com for example, this is a site that promotes trade, instead of catching on the opportunities provided to make decent revenue, many Nigerian companies listed on the site are mere fraudsters. Nigerians have demean themselves to the extent that they don't believe they can make money legally and turn to fraud.

I don't know the best credit card source in Nigeria, but avoid any one that has to do with 1st bank.

Also how easy is it to settle in the US on arrival, how much should he be targetting to take along.
He is currently thinking of going alone first for a few months b4 sending for his family.

Ibori did what he did. As far as am concerned that was less than enough. He could have done much more, but compared to other more fetted govs, he did comparatively better by projects on the ground.

People are quick to say Ibori got more allocation than others, but they fail to see he got less allocation than Rivers state and did better than the Rivers Gov.

The idea of calling Niger delta govs to question came about due to the quest for more allocation at the last Constitution review conference, and people has been taking it that these govs are worse than their counterparts. This is not correct, Most leaders in Nigeria are very corrupt. A few should not be singled out.

As it is now, Nigeria has a gross failure of leadership at all levels all across the country. It is not limited to one section alone and unless we address it things will continue to be bad for the country.

Talking about currupt govs. In EFCC list of currupt govs under investigation, all sections of the Country were proudly represented.

Ibori is being prosecuted for mismanagement of 9 billion Naira, thats about 80 million USD, The federal gov is currently being accused of mismanaging 15 billion USD in the power sector alone. can someone compare mismanagement of 80 million and 15 billion and tell me which is a greater evil.

I have said it previously on this forum. The federal govt has a greater role to play in the development of the nation than any state gov.

Donald duke did well, what has come out of it. does the people of cross Rivers state have a better standard of living now? Uninterrupted power supply? Good roads, schools, security and the other things people take forgranted in other countries? Has the federal govt given Tinapa the duty waiver they require to operate? Has the federal govt not made Tinapa a waste of fund?

What most people fail to see is that there are responsibilities in a federation, and based on the responsibilities resources are allocated. We must look at the areas where we are having problems and see whose responsibility it is to ensure that those problems do not occur. Then we should hold those people responsible.

The people of the Delta has a right to stop oil production from their land if they are not benefitting from it. oil production of the east cost of the US and in parts of Alaska has been stopped for ages because the poeple are not comfortable with it. Why should the Niger Delta be different. Why can't they be allowed to determine what happens to their environment.

Primary health care, Trunk B and trunk C roads are responsilbilities of State and Local govts, hence if township roads and city streets are bad, call the state govt to question. But in a situation where you have trunk A roads, responsibilities of the federal govt, like the benin lagos road, east west road being impassable, then the federal govt should be called to account.

The problems we are having are mostly feredal responsibilities. Power, Security, Tertiary education, Tertiary health care, Federal roads. We can blame the govs. That will not change anything when the looting is continuing at the federal level.

How much did it cost to fix the Telecoms problem, next to nothing, What will it cost to fix the power problem? next to nothing, if the federal govt agrees to privatise the sector.

So you can continue blaming the ND govs. maybe if we get them to utilise the 13% well, and allow for mismanagement of the remaining 87% by the federal govt the country will develop.
