Politics › Re: Crude Import: Why Dangote Desperately Needs US Market by Oghene86: 8:04pm On Mar 03, 2024 |
Biodun556: Dangote can easily get crude oil from Ghana, sierra Leon, Angola or Libya if Nigeria can not meet up with the refinery crude need. These countries are closer and will save cost.
But for for dangote to go all the way to US, is a sign of desperation to an advantage that many critics do not care to ask about due to politics and tribalism.
Trade balance is what US does not joke with. Dangote wants to export refined oil to US which means he must buy US crude because US will not allow any country to take it as a dumping ground.
US/China trade conflict
The products that China exports to US is more than what US exports to china, to balance the trade is why US do impose high tariffs on Chinese products.
US approval, an opener to many countries
If a product is imported to US and US certified it as standard, many countries will accept the products without any hindrance. So it makes sense that dangote import crude from the US to get global acceptance. But is it not a shame we can't feed the Dangote refinery with crude oil and we expect Qataris to take us seriously. Just a pity |

GentleLaw: Since bread became a problem to eat due to high price, I withdrew myself from it but this morning because I had some visitors I decided to buy bread so we could take tea together.
Guess what? 3 of us couldn't even cut it twice and the nylon was empty.
This size of loaf of bread was never more than N200 became APC came to power and 9 years on, it's now N1400. You can now calculate how many percentage APC governments have added hardship to Nigerians.
Well, let's continue to advocate based on tribal and religious lines. We are all suffering it.
Bye bye again to bread till further notice. We things are hard, but this is big lie,. everyone is just looking for an opportunity to call a dog a bad name 😂 |

IkeOnyia: Go to facebook and other social media platforms and you will see genuine residents of Aba and environs complaining that they have not had light for months and are still experiencing epileptic supply even after commissioning of the dormant Geometric plant.
Geometric power is yet to fire up even one of its three turbines as it negotiates with Shell for gas whose current prices have hit the roofs. To supply even one turbine with constant gas will cost Geometric so much money that it will need to secure loans from banks while hoping that Aba residents pay up the astronomical electricity bills required to offset the costs incurred. And that one turbine as expensive as it is to operate, would not satisfy Aba needs. Just like Dangote refinery, Geometric power will need a few years to come up swinging with complete vigour. Constant electricity is not cheap. From this weekend they should start having regular Power supply |
Politics › Re: Electricity: Neimeth Plans To Move headquarters From Lagos To Aba by Oghene86: 2:32pm On Mar 01, 2024 |
Kepukepu: Ahead of schedule, Aba Power Ltd, a subsidiary of Geometric Power, is poised to provide electricity to consumers in the Aba Ring-fenced Area, a move directed by Professor Bart Nnaji, the company's Chairman.
The early power provision comes as Geometric Power commissions its 188 Megawatt thermal plant in Aba. Initial supply is set at 47MW, almost double the current 25MW received from the Niger Delta Power Holding Company.
The second turbine is expected to increase supply to 94MW, meeting Aba's energy needs. This development attracts attention from major firms like Neimeth Pharmaceuticals, contemplating relocating to Aba pending substantial electricity improvement.
Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu underscores Geometric Power's potential as a model for Nigeria's power sector development, marking progress in enhancing industrial power supply for Aba and promoting regional economic growth.
