Colegold100,...that you were having 1.2M in the joint account abi all accounts? It's 3 of u travelling abi.

I also totalled the balances in my accts in pounds, eg. dat acct A has £3000 whl acct B is £7000, equals £10,000, that I will use £1500 for d trip. Using oanda.com's conv rate
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 9:42pm On Aug 07, 2015
Oh dear...refusal hurts really bad.

I was denied before based on unexplained lump sums into my account. So in the next application I asterisked the lumps sums in Acct stmt A wt a pencil and explained the origin in a letter, stating that they came from Acct stmt B (I labelled oo), and I asterisked the sums in the stmt B too.

Then I went further to say that Acct stmt B is for savings and investment, keeping bulk money, that I moved money from B to A since I use acct A often and that's d money I intend to use for travel wch I can't easily access if it's in acct B. Well, for me I don't internet banking and no electronic cards attached to my acct B, so I highlighted this too. The transfers were even done at the branch. I actually got the instruction I used to liquidate the Fixed deposit amount in acct B wch I transferred to acct A.

I went thru all the details abt my accounts one after the other, I didn't want them assuming anything, didn't want to leave anything to chance. Infact it took me close to 5 hours to finish that letter. I dissected the refusals points.

For kids, I tot you are meant to include family pics. When I went pick up my passport this week, one woman came there and said she was called to bring additional docs wch happened to be her kids' pics. She counted dem beside me, abt 35pics, am not kidding. She submitted dem. Apparently she submitted her application d prev day.

colegold100:
House, justwise, and great experienced personnels in the building, I hail o.

My wife and daughter were refused uk visiting visa today o.
My wife was refused based on:
I quote " I note that the balance of this account has been significantly inflated by large deposits amounting to 800k prior to your application. You have not provided any evidence as to the origin of these recent deposits.
I am therefore not satisfied that these funds are genuinely available for your use or that your financial circumstances are as stated.

For my daughter:
You have not supplied any documents to confirm your relationship to your claimed parent. From the documents submitted I am not satisfied that you are related as claimed.

For my wife's refusal, we submitted our savings joint account in which our savings goes to. her salary account were submitted withpayslips, letter from her office, my pay slips, proof of investment etc.
The issue is that some lumps sum which entered the joint account were
1.from my salary account which was my upfront allowance,
2.also bonus/allowance from my wife salary account,

3and also a 650k was withdrawn in May from the joint account but was refunded in july 2015.we were having 1.2m when the application was made.

I will like to know what evidence they want even when we both provided our salary accounts where the lumps were from.?
And how else can I explain the 650k that withdrawn in may and lodged back in july. ( as we wanted to use the 650k to purchase a property but the deal didn't go tru, hence the refund.)

For my daughter, the Tls officers told my wife that to avoid duplication of documents, that she does not need to submit separate document for our daughter as the they will refer to my wife's application when reviewing my daughter's own. Alas, they did not refer to it o.

I presently have 2 years uk visiting visa and I want them to reapply as we want to go on vacation by September.
Please I need advice on how to tackle the reasons for their refusals.

Then again you can still try ur luck, we wish everyone well here. We still know there are rare cases and exceptions. Even at that I strongly urge ppl to cross all tees and do/submit a thorough application.

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 9:00am On Aug 07, 2015
Okay. She doesn't hv any copy.

I will tell her to explain. She has been refused several times, her elder bro now lives in d UK and when he was doing his application then to immigrate, he filled in her name as his dependant. Since den when she applies for visa to visit the bro, to be self sponsored by the bro, they kept turning her down. At one time, they had to appeal, d bro went for the hearing in the UK, but nothing positive came out of it. Meanwhile all her siblings hv been travellng to visit the bro, their mum spends months there sef.

I feel for her. I detest plenty rejections back to back. I told her to fashi UK and be visiting other countries for now and maybe 5 yrs later to re-apply. Hopefully she wud be married by den. But she wants to apply this minute. She has been to Dubai last year. She is single and the last born. She is working now unlike d times she applied in d past. I also suggested she shud cut out the sole sponsorship by bro and let her split it, maybe taking care of d flight fare herself.

Does anyone hv an idea on d way forward now. cry

worry357:
She does not need the original letter but she should BRIEFLY explain the circumstances with her application.
If she does not mention it they may think she is hiding things, it will be on her computer record.
Honesty is best, better to be refused that get a ban for fraud.

Alright Portsmouth86

Thanks Blessedfavoured

Portsmouth86:
Hey

Check www.skyscanner.net

change your country to Nigeria and also the currency tab to NGN

flight prices will be higher in peak times, UK school holidays are always a lot higher plus you are wanting to fly in only a few days time, so of course it will be costly

shocked

Hope this helps

Thanks to the person that suggested I fill the complaint form on TLS. I filled this form on Monday and in few hours I got 2 responses from Visas and Immigrations and TLS that my application has been processed and I will pick my passport shortly. Today, Wednesday, I said let me go to VAC and check sef, they said it's ready. I picked it up, visa was stamped since 30th July.

As if I knew the delay wasn't ordinary. Human error tho... undecided You guys can remember how I panicked about re-scheduling the hotel booking, it wasn't funny.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 11:15am On Aug 05, 2015
God remains faithful and merciful.

After my re-application I prayed every morning about not getting refused a second time. Even when I realized I made some errors yet again, I broke down and told God to make this work for me. I kept speaking positivity into this application, I cleared all doubts and held on to faith. I kept on planning every thing about the trip as though I have a visa already. And God perfected it.

I got the visa, multiple entry grin

askari01:
Ogreene, what's the outcome of your visa application nahhuh Tell us the outcome...

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 11:19pm On Aug 02, 2015
You shud even start by stating the exact reasons for d refusals, what has changed since then?
Then whats ur income like, are u going wt wife and kid or....? Bcoz of d financial burden.
I really feel for you, you MUST get ur application right this time. Reading this thread is an eye-opener too.

tay0:
Hi justwise I need ur help. I had 2 refusal some years back on a student visa. Now am working and plan to visit the uk with my family how do I go about it and how would I avert a refusal based on my passed record though i am not using the same passport as that one is expired.

Hope to read frm u soonest.

Thanks.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 8:00pm On Aug 02, 2015
Yea, too general.

An alternative Justicia; someone applied for d spouse and kid jus recently, they were granted visa. if u can read some pages back (not too far) you will see the person am talking about. Then u can send a PM to get full info. Although it's best u read the thread to learn about people's experiences and not to make avoidable mistakes.

Vicjustice:
Welcome to Nairaland.
But, you questions are too general and too demanding. you only missed to ask what clothes to wear to the embassy.

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 4:54pm On Aug 02, 2015
Yea, it's been treated. Have you read some pages back? I know the person needs to send you an invitation, copy of house tenancy abi mortage receipt, account stmt, passport biodata page. Then for you copy of admission letter, doc showing your course start and finish dates, letter of approval from ur parents, ur acct statement, intl passport, photo passport... these re more like it, not accurate. Let's wait for the gurus in the house.

I don't know ur age. Is ur sponsor footing all the bills?

Pronmix:
Hello people, well done to everyone that has been contributing to this thread to make it a success, please justwise and the rest dunno if this has been treated before if so maybe a page reference will do, am a medical student here in Nigeria 2nd yr and I have a friend in Scotland (she is Scottish and married with children) she wants to invite me over but both of us really don't know the process or processes involved, please any useful information would be appreciated. Thank you.

OGreene

my niece submitted her application on monday at Ikeja

she has just received an email (today) that a decision has been made - and she is a first time applicant .
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 10:09am On Jul 31, 2015
Where and when did she submit?

ArikeGZ:
Good morning all.

Please I am new to this thread but from the information I have scanned through I want to commend you all for setting up this platform to guide people like me. Please @Justwise and all the good contributors and pple of the thread, I am in urgent need of help and guidance for my aunty.
My aunty applied for a tourist visa in May and was denied. the reasons given are stated below

1.You are a first time visitor in the Uk and stated that the purpose of your trip is to visit your cousin. However ur application does not provide any evidence to suggest that you are related as claimed or of any contact between you.lack of such evidence leads me to doubt you are a genuine sponsor.
2. You have indicated that you are a teacher with ..... earning .... You have submitted photocopies of Bank Statement and letter from a cooperative (...)indicating that you received large deposit of N1m into your acct. while these are photocopies of the original there is the possibility that during the copying process changes may have been made, such as to amend names, addresses and dates.Consequently in the absence of original documents, these copied documents that you have submitted are of little evidential value. I am therefore not convinced that you have satisfactorily evidenced ur earnings and financial circumstances.
3.The above circumstances undermine the overall credibility of the application to the extent that d balance of probability I am not satisfied that your circumstances are as ..........

Please note that she submitted payslips, bank statement and letter from her cooperative and the state govt where she teaches. All these were original copies.

Please how does she respond to this. she want to submit the application today/tmrw to enable her do biometrics on monday.

I appreciate ur advise n contributions in advance.

Abi ooo.

I called just now, the woman (sleepy-voiced) that answered said the Manager comes in by 8 or 8:30 that I can call then. But I want to send a mail right away so they can have that one too.

Yes, I bliv it will end in praise. I prayed about it dis morning.

Who submitted at Ikeja VAC from 16-22July, am still asking huh

askari01:
Its better to move date ahead than to cancel, Save you from 165k lose. Just make sure you are the first caller this morning ... Those Oyinbo people cn play head games ehn..It will end in praises .
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 6:49am On Jul 31, 2015
Gracias! You really are thinking what am thinking. It's the 9th working day and 13th day after submission. They must be rounding up and wud hv checked d hotel part. I called d hotel yesterday to move d date, dey said I shud call again this morning.

askari01:
My opinion is that you should change the date if you can but Don't cancel reservation, Do that as you are reading my mail now now, They would have treated your application and I am sure By now your application is on its way to the pickup center, It will end in praises .
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 7:57pm On Jul 30, 2015
Noted!

Ralphlauren:
BrainyBell and ogreene

regarding the financial section of the form, i will try as best as possible to explain my own understanding of the requirements. very recently, i helped a relative in completing the form and the application was successful with 10years visa issued.

i will use an illustration to make it easier.

closing balance on bank statement = #1,500,000.

cost of hotel for 10 days = £500 (using an overly generous exchange rate of £1 to 350naira, this works out as 175,000naira). Hint: always look for very cheap, budget hotels - as long as they are located within London or any other tourist city.

cost of return ticket = £700 (using an overly generous exchange rate of £1 to 350naira, this works out as 245,000 naira)

living expenses (that is feeding for the entire 10days) = with a generous/average budget of £35 a day, you have 3 meals a day so for 10days stay, this works out as £350. (using an overly generous exchange rate of £1 to 350naira, this works out as 122,500 naira).

transportation for the entire 10days = generous estimatation of £150 (using an overly generous exchange rate of £1 to 350naira, this works out as 52,500 naira).

adding all the figures above, the total cost of the trip = £1,700.00

therefore, for the section, 'how much is available to you for this trip', i will fill in £2,200.00

for the section, 'what is the cost of this trip personally to you', i will fill in £2,000.00 (the £300 difference is for any 'unexpected expenses')

now convert £2,000 to naira using an overly generous exchange rate of £1 to 350naira = 700,000k

so from the ECO's point of view, spending 700k from 1.5m isn't too bad as the applicant as 800k left in the bank

finally, for return ticket, there is no point quoting outrageous ticket prices on the form. BA can charge £1k for a return flight and Air Maroc or Arik can charge £500 for the same flight, depending on the season. so always go with the lowest/average air fare. £700 is an average fare for a lagos to london return ticket - even during the busy summer months.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 7:51pm On Jul 30, 2015
Alright. Do you know of any one that will charge 1st night incase of no show?

Ralphlauren:
you should have given yourself at least 14days for your application to be decided.

go and check gov.uk's website to see the stats for applications decided last month. only 17% or so were decided within 7 working days while 99% were decided within 14 working days.

i understand you were denied previously but its not like you were applying to attend a conference or an event so changing your travel dates would not have had any material impact on your application or made it appear like you were inconsistent.

i will just wait till shortly before the deadline to cancel the hotel reservation and then cancel it. pointless forfeiting that amount of money. next time, book hotels that will penalise you for a night stay or two in a case of a 'no show' or late cancellation.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 7:48pm On Jul 30, 2015
OK. I just called them

Thanks

Beezus:
My sister was in the same situation. She called the hotel to change the date of arrival to a later date. Im sure the hotel was called to ask if she made any reservation with them cos my relatives in her form were called. She did get her visa.
