TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 7:46pm On Jul 30, 2015
It's interesting how many things come to light after one makes a mistake.

If you go thru my posts in July 04, 09 and 10 you will see my questions on hotel reservation and about moving my travel date. I repeated the hotel ques the next day and talked about the problems I was encountering, at the end I had to pick one. Yes, someone suggested booking.com, that was what I used, most of d hotels I clicked wanted to charge for the first night. I even asked here for specific names of hotel(s) for me to do a free booking, but I didn't get that. Well, that's past tense now.

I know the blame will still be on me, but I feel sad because I ASKED! Maybe I should have asked some more. Phew!!

I know many of us are busy. If possible let's try to answer all the questions ppl throw in here, no matter how small, you never know where it's 'hooking' the person asking. And for those asking, if you feel you hvnt gotten the answer, pls keep asking.

I greatly appreciate those that hv taken time to put others thru, and answered my/others questions. Justwise and Eniayo, God bless you for all you hv done for me.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 4:41pm On Jul 30, 2015
Wait?

I suppose the 48hr notice should be Friday morning. So if I don't call the hotel by Friday morning to cancel or make changes, I stand a huge chance of being penalized by them charging the whole fee 165k. Haaaaa, it's much ooo.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 4:11pm On Jul 30, 2015
Justwise, we are still waiting for you oooo shocked
Vicjustice, pls attend to questions, u hv been away for long, kilon shele?

House, pls wht do you advise I do now. I hvnt heard from the VO since I submitted. The intended date of travel is Aug 2nd, dis Sunday, I hv booked a hotel as well. Now, I can see dat dis Sunday won't be feasible, it's 3 days away and I hvnt even gotten my visa. The hotel's policy is 48hours to be given for cancellation, and if cancelled later the whole fee will be charged. Pls shud I call the hotel to change the dates or what? I don't want to lose money jus like that.

If I change dates and the ECO is yet to confirm from the hotel mgt, what will happen if the ECO is told I pushed my dates ahead?

Has anyone been in my shoes? I need an urgent response pls, am about to call the hotel
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 4:01pm On Jul 30, 2015
I have asked dis question too, I was confused at a stage. But ibilaw gave me a response (u can check the prev page), that it's d total cost of the trip, ur flight, accommodation and living expenses. No one has said otherwise since. So.....

BrainyBell:
Respected forum members,

Please, what is the correct interpretation of: How much do you have for your trip? Does it mean, the total amount I want to SPEND for my trip OR the amount I have in my BANK ACCOUNT, and from which I will spend for the trip.

Lastly, must the amount I HAVE for the trip be the same balance on my bank statement or can it be different? For example, can I say I have 1 Million for the trip, but show 2 Million on my bank statement instead? Does this make any sense, please.

Kind regards.

Hello all, is there anyone that submitted at Ikeja VAC on/ between 16-22 July? Have you heard from them?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 7:36am On Jul 30, 2015
Iblaw, pls how did you know you got it wrong before? The ques of "how much do you have for this trip". I hv seen 2 diff answers given by ppl. I really need to know wch it is.
How sure are you that it means the amt the flight, hotel and living expenses wud cost?

iblaw:
You can re-apply but include your salary account and ensure you provide evidence/reason for any large cash deposit in both accounts. On "How much do you have for this trip" this should be the total of your flight, accommodation and expenses and not the total amount in your account cos i made similar mistake in my first UK application.
Good luck.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 8:41pm On Jul 29, 2015
It's becos dis is my second application and I had to maintain the same details as what was on the 1st application.

iblaw:
To me your travel date is too close to your submission date, even if you are told Ikeja Centre takes one week you should have given enough space in case of delay.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 11:08am On Jul 29, 2015
Hello all, today is the 7th working day from submission date at Ikeja VAC. Is it not taking long? huh

My travel date is this Sunday Aug 2nd. And hotel check in date too. Phew! This is close. I pray to hear from the VO today smiley

I just remembered the part where they will wonder why an adult is being sponsored. Phew!!! angry You are right

justwise:
You don't have the money and can't be sponsored...that is the problem you have
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 2:57pm On Jul 23, 2015
I was amazed when I say 10days. 5 days visit sounds better coz the hotel bills and living expenses wud reduce. Then again flight shud cost more than 2 months of his salary. It may be better if he chooses a month when the rates are low,For Sept, when I was looking thru wakanow, I saw Iberia Air for like 138k, cnt remember the date, Royal Air Maroc shud be lesser. Also hotel prices shud be cheaper dat month (I suppose). Summer time is expensive

Justwise, what if he adds how much the sponsor will give to him? Also does poster have travel history?

It's holiday ooo. Only trying to Google and see If any prog falls within same period

Nothing wrong with that but you need to state clearly if you are going on holiday or a conference so as not to get things mixed up.

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 7:42pm On Jul 16, 2015
Same thing. Apply online, submit. Then book appointment, select VI centre and pay the visa fee only. Go and do biometrics on d appointment date and submit ur docs. Go home and pray. It will take time sha grin

mamateniola1:
THANK YOU VERY MUCH. PLS WHAT ABOUT V/I application center?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 7:39pm On Jul 16, 2015
So far Ikeja centre is faster dan VI centre. And rumours hv it that applications submitted at VI is processed in Sheffield while for Ikeja it's processed here in Lagos (I stand to be corrected)

I applied b4 at d VI centre, it took 10days before I did biometrics and yeah d lady dt attended to me said my appl will be sent to sheffield. Another 2weeks for a decision to be taken, and 1 more week to get my passport. May 29 - July 02. Too long jare,

I dnt hv much time so I submitted another online and will be doing biometrics in 2days time. Yea, I picked Ikeja centre. Let ppl wey dey naiJa decide on it biko grin.Don't knw exactly wt d 18k is for.

kennycanny:
What is the 18k extra at Ikeja for? and what is Ikeja
offering that the other submition centres are not giving?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 5:28pm On Jul 16, 2015
The ones I can answer-

The website is www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk

You apply online, then book appointment still online. The instructions are there on the site.

The day of the appointment, you go wt the docs for biometric and submission. You MAY be asked to wait for an interview. if not, you leave once u hv submitted.

Yes, when booking d appointment for submission of docs/biometrics, if you choose Ikeja centre, 18k extra will be added to the fee you have to pay. You pay dem together online. I submitted yesterday, total was 230dollars (136 for visa and 94 for Ikeja centre).

mamateniola1:
@Justwise @all, pls attend to this question by a poster here. I am in a similar situation. thanks.
here goes the question.: Hello, pls I realised that the UK visa application site has totally changedw I applied once in 2013 tho denied I want to apply again. My questions are. I typed in UK visa application and it brought out GOV.UK. Am I in d right site? It required I registered beforr filling form.

2. I have a visa to France but I want to visit the UK for about 5 days from France, do I fill in transit or normal visitor's visa like am actually going from Lagos?

3. Does it require physical interview now like US or we just drop our documents as usual?

4. I read that we book appointment, this is kinda strange to me.
5. I read also that if I choose ikeja application centre, I will pay extra fee.

6. How much in particular is application fee now? I saw extra 18k to be paid at application centre.

Please, pardon me for my numerous questions. God bless yu as yu answer

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 9:14am On Jul 15, 2015
No.

The question has a bracket saying "the start date of this role". I hv been wt d coy since 2013 and was jus moved to another dept wt a diff job role in April 2015.

justwise:
Maybe I should ask you: did you start working with your company in April?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 9:00am On Jul 15, 2015
Justwise, what do u have to say?

OGreene:
"When did you start this job" in bracket they said the start date of this role.

I was moved to a diff unit in April. Pls do I state April 2015 date or the date I joined the company? April to July is 3months, so small compared to the two years I hv spent since I joined d coy

Am happy for you. That was long ooo. About 20days in between.

Since June 23rd till today shocked I thought Ikeja was faster.

eniayooke:
Hello All,

Abi Una remember this my matter,

I reapplied on the 23rd of June and got my passport back today with Visa granted.

I basically used the same set of docs i applied with at the initial refusal, Only this time I applied at Ikeja.

And yes , it took longer than normal.

I attended a webcam interview i did not plan for right after i submitted my documents (first timers take note)

Good thing is i was very composed and answered the questions confidently
I was able to remember my aunty's house adress as well as give an account of what i plan to do in the UK.
Interviewer asked me the nature of my job and what exactly i do ( must tally with the Job description you filled online)
I also attached my graduation brochure which shows I just completed Masters in Theatre, When Interviewer asked me if I will visit London as my arrival is Manchester.
I said Yes to Visit the Globe theatre, then we talked about Shakespeare. I smiled and tried to be very courteous.

I also used the additional information to explain the extra monies i recieved,
I attached Church bulletin and yahoo mail conversations as well as my church organogram (Yes i am an extremist)

I wrote a cover letter and adressed the points highlighted by ECO in the refusal, I attached printed copies of online transfers for the monies i recieved that was'nt mine. Then I cut my budget to about 110£ and stated exactly how i will spend it including the places i intend to visit.

Two Things happened while I waited for my Passport.

My dad is a frequent flyer to the UK, he was contacted to confirm if I am his daughter.

My HR Manager called to say the Embassy contacted him aking about the nature of my job and how much I earn.
He also asked the HR Manager who my direct line manager is ( I remember the interviewer asked me to even spell his name)

Then a verification Unit mailed my HR Manager again to confirm my date of birth and how long my contract with the company is.
After he responded I got a mail apologising for the delay in returning my passport.

Please Pardon my epistle, This is just to help whoever may be applying next. Make sure you use the additional info, supporting documents are never too much,Refusals MUST be avoided as long as you are genuine, lol.

Thank you justwise, ekpotek, worry and all who helped me.
God bless you.

mellad:
Good evening ogreen, pls did u finally get a mail from tls before going to pick up your passport. I will like to knw cause I'm in the same shoes and plan going to VI tomorow
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 8:57am On Jul 12, 2015
Pls who can answer this? I really don't want to make an 'honest mistake' again when I have many experienced people here embarassed

OGreene:
This question of "do you have friends or family in the UK", I answered NO because (1) none of my immediate family lives in the UK. (2) I don't know if any of my relatives live there...my mum said she is not aware but that it seems our family doctor's son is still in the UK, he is a friend to my bro, I rili don't pally with them (3) one of my fmr Uni friends is doing her Masters. I tot she had finished but she hasnt

Now, was my answer correct? That is NO. Am sponsoring myself. My first appl was turned down. Is der any need to explain all these in the re-application
