Hi OGreene

Have you booked your flight?

Fares are already dropping, i saw Virgin to London for September like 170k+ last week, i have decided to fly straight to Manchester and i am seeing KLM and Air France around N174,000. All fares to Manchester were above 200k upper week.

My brother is asking me to still wait till September before i book grin

We hope for d best. Send dem d mail since you feel strongly about it.

taolut:
Thanks everyone for the advise, each and every one had made a valid point, I was just curious as this was what they did to my mum the first time she applied, I contested it and explained clearly to the embassy all their doubts and they called her few days after to bring her passport to collect her visa.

It's just so unfortunate they they prefer lies, well packaged application with lies than the genuine ones I mean if it's truly her intention to run away, she would have applied all these years, it's not like she just suddenly become my sister or that I have just moved here.

Her husband did put all his work papers, and letter. She included her employment letter, her nysc cert and all her kids birth cert to show ties to naija.

Maybe she waits to start her new job then re apply, but I still would fire them an email on Monday as I have a case to use where the tribunal states that it is not enough to refuse visa based on probability of not coming back, I also intend to ask them what source of income they expect someone who has just finished serving to have.

I would still give it my best shot as these people has almost turned naija application to business centres.

If I hear anything, I shall let everyone know.

Once again, many thanks for the contribution, I do appreciate

In most cases, shud be the husbands sponsoring them

kennycanny:
At least so many full time house wives married to a big man go on holidays abroad. How are they going about it.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 1:35pm On Aug 22, 2015
I hope so too.

On a second thought, If d hubby is well to do, has a gud job and all, why isn't he d one sponsoring her tho? This shud hv made a better diff.

kennycanny:
I think she is just unlucky, some peeps in her shoes get Visa. But importantly, did d husband added his own profile. If the husband has a good job, and included this in addition to the letter , it might make a difference.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 1:27pm On Aug 22, 2015
You want to write an e-mail and clarify what exactly? The ECO gave 2 reasons you shud worry about: "...you appear to have little source of personal income and assets in your country...". So will your email clarify that your sis has better income and other assets you didn't mention earlier?

My friend has been invited several times by her elder bro who lives in d UK. She doesn't hv a job and was refused abt 4 times. She even appealed, d bro represented her in d UK then but nothing came thru. Jus because she doesn't hv personal income and assets. No matter what she and her family did/wrote, the Visa Officers remained unshaken.

So this thing does happen. Your sis is unlucky and if she applies under ds same circumstance, it's very likely dey won't give her. Let her face her job and when she re-applies next year, she can fund part of d trip while u fund d rest, to show she is financially responsible. Even if she earns a little, having a job or biz makes it easier. Don't be annoyed dear smiley

I have someone else dt is married wt a child and wtout a job, dey hv bounced her countless times.

taolut:
Good evening everyone, I stumbled on this thread whilst threading online for some help and was hoping someone could please help me shed some light into this form me.

I am a british citizen, live in the UK and work here as well as my husband and children, I have just invite pd my immediate younger sister to come visit and meet my littlw son, I have invited her to come celebrate my sons first birthday party.

I supplied all my documents, my work documents with good income, my husbands pds documents and statements as well as mine, house documents, passports, pictures, name i even supplied my bank statements in Nigeria.

My sister just finished serving and has a job offer which she is meant to start end of oct and she is meant to come for 4 weeks before she starts, she is married with 2 kinds and would be leaving her family behind, she included the evidence of her kids and letter from her hubby.

I wrote a personal letter stating the relationship which is very obvious as we included all our pictures. Even baby pictures and I stated that I understand she is about to start work and that I would be responsible for every expenses of her trip, which I am capable of doing and that we would accommodate her, in fact I paid for her application fee with my card.

To cut the long story short, she was refused today with the reason below

You state that you are supported by your family and have no current income, I note that you submitted documents for your sponsors, I recognise that it is stated that your sponsor propose to bear the cost of the trip however I must take into account your personal economic and personal circumstances in nigeria when coming to my decision. On the basis of evidence provided you appear to have little source of personal income or asset in your country, in the light of all above, I consider that you have failed to show sufficient strong economic ties to satisfy me that on the balance of probability that you intend to leave the UK on the end of a short visit.

This to me is very annoying as I do not think they expect someone who has just finished NYSC and waiting to start a new job to have. Lot of income, is having a sponsor willing to carry everything not good enough, are her kids that she is leaving behind not enough.

I intend to send an email clarifying These assumptions but would really appreciate any help or insight on the right direction.

Thanks in advance

You may also read some pages back to get few tips on d application (if this is ur first time). Spend some hours to read ds thread.

Good morning all, to all the gurus in the house, I am planning to submit my application (general visitor). I will like to know how many month statement of account to provide. thank you
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 9:52am On Aug 21, 2015
Oya calm down.

Did you submit any evidence to back the extra jobs you do? Writing abt it alone isn't enof, anyone can claim anything. The ECO needs tangible evidence.

My friend told me this, "UK visa application is easy. Anything you put down in the application form, include the document as evidence". Can't you see dey don't do interview much these days, so they decide based on what docs you submitted, dey won't even do u a favour of contacting you for further clarification.

If you say you are a student, show dem sch papers; if you are a biz owner, show d registered docs; if ur sponsor is ur parent, show pics and anything that dt can back up everything in ur application...... bla bla bla

iyaaliyah:
You didnt get me!
Okay, I said I explained in the additional info the source of the extra monies that are not my salary.
I put there categorically that 'by virtue of my job, I earn additional income apart from my salary and these are the money that enter into my account. Although this money varies i.e not constant and not a fixed sum.

I did not even move money around, ple I do extra jobs for pay into these accounts.

I stated further that the over 300k in my account is from the savings from these different extra jobs.

My husband submitted personal tax clearance, registration Doc, personal account statement

I concur.

He can take from amt slated for living expenses and add to hotel accommodation.

Vicjustice:
I recommend that you book an actual hotel (or at least a B&B) rather than a hostel: as a Nigerian person, booking a hostel will not look good especially if you are not a teenager.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 12:17pm On Aug 20, 2015
I was wondering too. Never seen such in Central London

Am curious to knw wch hotel is this as well.

Nunaija, did you make an actual booking?

Ralphlauren:
sorry, but which hotel are you booking thats giving you a rate of £25 per night huh

are you making an actual (unpaid) hotel reservation (which will be submitted with your application) or are you just quoting a random hotel rate?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 9:16pm On Aug 18, 2015
Confused ke?

askari01:
Thanks jare , atleast your being sincere.... Just cracking my brain since morning to know what to write for why are they paying for part of her trip.. I am really confused .
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 9:07pm On Aug 18, 2015
Hotel budget, meaning £25 per night? Hmmm, hope u checked dis out.

You hvnt added living expenses to ur budget. So it will automatically be more than that.

Seems u want to re-apply soonest. Pls take time to study your prev applications for some other loopholes. You know we can't see all d details of ur application except the ones you put out on dis platform. Mehn, you want this training so bad...

nunaija:
For Return ticket: 827.972 GBP
Hotel: 175 GBP 7 nights

Total is 1003 GBP

Yes I can afford it

What do I do next?
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 8:59pm On Aug 18, 2015
SOS!!!

askari01:
Thanks Ekpotek, you still haven't clarify the question below.. what is the cost of accomodation? The organisation is paying for the Hotel booking... Should I input the value for hotel in the space or I should just leave it as NIL, If I input the total cost of accomodation, the embassy might say the cost to me personally is too small to the total cost . Advise on that pls
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 8:52pm On Aug 18, 2015
Maybe.

Is there no way you can defer the training to next year or get part refund?

nunaija:
Yes I stated that I've paid for the course. So you think I should forget about it?

Many thanks
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 8:47pm On Aug 18, 2015
Even if you get them to remove the course fee from the total amount you stated for the budget, it STILL WON'T DO!

They hv the upper hand here; tho I don't like telling ppl not to try what is on their mind, your point of argument is very weak. Then again, you are free to decide what to do now. Have a solid plan.

nunaija:
It's the same training. I didn't change the training. I applied early this year. That was my first refusal. I deferred the admission till November and that's why I'm applying now. I attached the invoice for payment and the ECO still mentioned my course fee in the refusal as if I've not paid for it. Do I have any case?

Thanks for your support!
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 8:42pm On Aug 18, 2015
Sorry, I must hv skipped it. If not, it means I don't hv d right answer to your question, so I left it for others to respond.

askari01:
Ogreen, what of me that have asked questions and u haven't said anything? Oya maake ur contribution nah
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 10:32pm On Aug 17, 2015
You should study this thread or ask and ask and ask angry

nunaija:
Hello good people. I just found out about this thread. You suggestions would be highly appreciated.
I applied for a student visitor visa in February and was denied. Reasons: I only included my savings account and not my salary account which shows my monthly salary of 250k.
Due to lack of experience I also got the "How much do you have for this trip?" question wrong... I mentioned all I had in my account...was confused
I booked for a hotel for 1 week
I included my payslips for 6 months with the savings account(970k balance).
All other documents were included.
I am married and my monthly take home is 240k excluding project bonus which varies. The course I'm going for is just 1 week and I stated this in my application. I was able to defer the training programme to October and I want to reapply for the visa. Kindly advice on what I should do differently this time.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 10:24pm On Aug 17, 2015
@nunaija, how soon did you re-apply that you changed training. Just asking cos der is need for some consistency when u are re-applying within a short time frame.

You like trainings tho cool
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 10:16pm On Aug 17, 2015
Am so sorry for what happened. Something in me tells me that you didn't read dis thread or ask questions b4 applying. (pardon me if am wrong). How on earth you came up wt that figure for d cost of 1-WEEK TRIP is unbelievable! Ppl usually give a breakdown of their budget/cost/financials... for ppl to help dem cross-check here.

You may want to hold onto d mistake of dem mentioning the course fee, but how do you make light of the unrealistic budget you gave. Did you state in ur application that you hv paid for d course?

I feel you shud calm down a bit and apply much later. Allow time pass b4 they will think you are desperate. And be thorough next time. Check for trainings in other countries too, if I get 2 refusals for a particular country, I will kuku face other ones until my circumstances change greatly will I go back to apply der.

This is not to kill ur morale, you may do as you wish.

nunaija:
I still await your advice good people please
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 12:10pm On Aug 15, 2015
FrontPageLawyer,

Why not include ur financial position for better comparison against the budget you hv stated; plus d duration of ur trip.

£321 for food? Sounds much
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 9:07am On Aug 15, 2015
Yea, d available dates for submission in VI is always far, abt 2 weeks unlike Ikeja centre whr u get dates as early as 2 days later.

When I used VI centre, I submitted online May 29. Got appointment for June 11th. While for Ikeja, online appl was July 15th and appointment was July 18, July 17th was free tho.

Cc: FrontPageLawyer

iblaw:
Because of the N18,000 its a bit hard to get available date in VI centre, available dates might be two weeks from the date of submitting online form. I had to wait two weeks from 29th June to 10th July 2015
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 8:18am On Aug 15, 2015

All the best

FrontPageLawyer:
Thanks Ogreene
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 8:13am On Aug 15, 2015
From what we have seen, using Ikeja centre is generally faster and the applications are treated here in Lagos. VI applications re sent to Sheffield UK wch explains why it takes a while tho sometimes it's faster dan expected and I think there will be more scrutiny. #MyOpinion#

I hv used both centres and confirmed the Sheffield vs Lagos thing and processing time.

Just make sure you did a thorough application, you can submit anywhere, but if u re running short of time, Ikeja is ur best bet if u cnt pay for premium service

FrontPageLawyer:
Thanks Ogreene. Please what is the difference between Ikeja and VI centres? Please advise. Thank you
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 6:39am On Aug 15, 2015
Hi, so did you go? How was it?

chukwuseun:
Ogreen thanks so much will check today
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 6:37am On Aug 15, 2015
Yes, u pay extra 18k for using Ikeja centre. Paid online as u re paying for d visa

No extra cost for VI centre, asides d visa fee

FrontPageLawyer:
@Ogreene @iblaw. Greetings.

I am about to submit my application at Ikeja submission centre and I understand that an additional N18,000 is required aside the visa fee. Please is this correct?

If true, what about Victoria Island submission centre?

Thank you.

Thanks.

Nah, I hvnt booked flight yet. I want to confirm dt d next Muslim holiday is 23 and 24th Sept, so I can leave 23rd night. Rescheduling fee for Air France is $160.

iblaw:
@OGreene
Chaiiii. That N12m transfer into her account is very bad huh. If i was in her shoes, i will wait till when that transaction will not reflect in the 6 months statement before applying for visa and for her owed salary tell her to ask her Account/Finance dept if they can write her a letter confirming salary is owed and will be paid soon but 4 months is a long time to owe salary o cos the ECO will be wondering coy owing 4 months salary that maybe the coy is closing down.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by OGreene: 6:10pm On Aug 14, 2015
Good evening great people, how una dey? I have this issue we (I & my friend) hv been trying to tackle. I am putting it here to get more info or if anyone has had similar experience. Below is d scenario:

She is married, mid 20s, works, and earns well. Her hubby wanted to do a transaction one day and asked to use her personal savings acct. He mistakenly transferred the money (12M) into her SALARY ACCT, wch she transferred out. Of course she wasn't happy abt it cos she is abt applying for a UK visa. Hubby has apologised but d deed has been done.

Then her coy is owing dem 4 months salary.

She has good savings, 2M + in her Savings acct, and some properties (lands). No travel history.

She wants to explain d huge inflow (cos she will be submitting her salary acct), but how can she convince dem coz d inflow is on d high side. And what abt d second issue (salary owed), will it all put her application in a bad light??

Justwise, pls read and comment. All comments re most welcome.
