Just hearing this. GTB cards wont work on Paypal again? Na wa ooo Timi1990: Gtb bank disable online transaction for some particular site . e.g PayPal,skrill, neteller, okay and the rest. The best you can use is Accessbank Visa card which is currently working with PayPal, but restricted to $100 per month. So get two Accessbank card and send your funds to someone in the USA or use moneygram it's a bit cheaper now. |

Ok. I read your first post below and didnt know its a suggestion esp the bolded. [quote: It amazes me how people still let others dictate to them how much rate and things. Its 2017 people. We already have dollar master cards being issued by our banks. Economy might be bad, but our banking system aint that bad. I just signed up with SkyeBank dollar card with $3000 monthly limit unlike my GT naira card $100/month limit. It just baffles me reading on here when people need dollar or naira, i never knew nairaland is now some bureau de change giving rooms for potential scammers and scammees. Go and open a domiciliary/dollarcard account and you would make any payment from here rather than lobbying on Nairaland. Goshhh. angryomoluabiguy: I never said anyone is doing it wrong. I was only suggesting an idea based on my own opinion, but I have learnt we all can't have similar opinions and I apologize if you take it the wrong way. Have a great day sir! And I read subsequent posts where you explained better. Yea, some will rather go to the mallam they can see than an online deal. Either way, there are pros and cons. Enjoy your day. |

You wrote as though the rest of us were doing it wrong and you were trying to correct us. We were eager to know how to do it better, only for you to say you have your way. The thing with dollar card is sourcing dollar to fund it. For the sake of the higher limit, people who can afford the black market rate or know how to source for $ can get the card and use it for payments. It works fine. For those going to US soon, you can start sending dollars to ur sibling's or friend's US account using Paypal. The person keeps the money for you till you come over. Or if you have a dom account, the person sends it there immediately. You can send up to $500 or $1000 monthly. I know GTB rate is 320 for $100 limit and Access rate is 325 for $200 limit monthly. If you get 2 GTB and 2 Access cards, thats $600 montly and in 5 months its $3000. Also paypal take little charges for the transfers but this is cheaper for me than going to mallan. I haven't tried this method but i know it works. My friends do it. I will start next month. This method is asides sending money via Moneygram at the Banks, and you should try Moneygram now, things are a bit relaxed with fx at the Banks. Also process your Form A and PTA early before things will tighten up again. omoluabiguy: Like I said, I won't argue or join issues with you and we all have different opinion. Well, as for the bolded; I'll rather pay 368k and collect my dollars than send 352k to someone I don't know and HEY!!! I have never for once discredit the good side of it so you don't need to make me sound bad to others. I was only trying to raise a point BASED on my opinion that people should get dollar card not just for application fee payment, but also useful when they eventually travel abroad. We all have different principles and different pattern of operations and Please let this issue die down. I'm sorry if you take it in another way, but I still stick to my point and please respect my opinion as I have yours.
Enjoy the rest of your day sir! |

That nice!! How much is the tuition? feguson123: joeluv: I want to use this opportunity to inspire prospective US graduate students. Please also apply to big and expensive schools. They have more funding. I got a an award of almost $24k a year in George Washington University. Whn I started the journey with GW I had no tuition just accomodation in that area. But I prayed hard for a miracle and it came in form of this award. Nigerians shy away from the school because we feel it's too expensive, but they really have good funding opportunities so it's a good try. Just want to Inspire others to try Thier luck. I have learnt a lot from this thread Thank You and best wishes. |

Sorry about the rejection. Please no matter what, do not apply to 1 school. There should be 2 or 3 schools you will be okay with. So add another to your list and go thru their requirements to be sure you meet them all. Submit your application on time. All the best! TooMuchSauce: While i'm quite conscious of not coming across as being sycophantic, the positive vibes you exude in your posts can't be gainsaid; you are always willing to help and that's nice. Thanks for giving "grad school hopefuls" like me lifelines with your reassuring words. I recently took the GRE and it was a disaster, i was denied admission by the only school i applied to (a tier 2 school); i will be retaking by early June and putting in applications for spring 2018, i hope you'll be around to help through the process. All the best in LSU too man. |

Well you will gain more from the Canadian thread. From the little i read there last year, I know you package your documents including passport and submit at the Canadian embassy and do Biometrics. It will take them 3- 4 months to respond, approve or reject. And you need to include the account statement of the sponsor and I think you must have paid part or full tuition too. And after you have submitted your docs, they call you to go and do medicals, they have selected hospitals. You wont be interviewed like in US student visa. Things might have changed. I no know ooo. Byjerstyk: I would have be happy, if your response is productive Thanks |

There are mallams/BDCs in the US who can exchange the naira for you to dollar. Please go to them and transact. You will know how far. And dont get it wrong, we are not hoping the naira falls, we want naira to appreciate exponentially. That will take some time Also, you can send the naira to your friend in Nig so he can try and do Moneygram for you. You will get the dollar at a fair rate. PS: We too have surplus naira, and at 375? We would have changed our naira to dollar since. At least, for now. Naira will rise again. ImpeccableOne: Even though we are in the US, let us not glory in the fact that the Naira has depreciated to such a ridiculous level. We all have family and friends back at home, and we know how the situation is affecting them. Inflation is going unchecked and I feel pained as though I'm still in Nigeria. I don't desire that the Naira continues falling. I hope it appreciates. You too should hope same as well. If you are desiring that it should get worse, you are wrong...so wrong. You have family and friends back home...besides not everyone in Nigeria can immigrate abroad.
For those interested, I've got as much Naira as you want at N375 per $. Not limited to $200 or $500 or $1000 equivalent value. |

Dont give up. Continue going there to disturb them. Keep calling them if they dropped a number. If they are on social media, keep chatting them. Sometimes go to your dept, meet your lectures/HOD and speak with them. One person might be moved to call Admin office. All am saying is keep pushing. Dont back out like that. If they can send it to an educational agency in Nig, easier for you. At least you get your copy from the agency. Also ask absu grads who hv gotten their transcript how they went about it. sirhamilton: Too many administrative bottle necks. Absu |
