Yes but that's why they gave form A out for school payment or so.

You don't need to bribe anybody. Go to a branch and request to speak with the manager, they have to say what you will understand. You need PTA not BTA. The B stands for Business and P - Personal.

If you have accounts in other banks, it wont hurt to ask them how the process works there. Then apply where you want.

You would need to provide some docs like admission letter, recipient details, passport, etc. Walk into a branch and ask for the list of what they need. Submit, then fund your account and wait. That's all!

When people talk about "grace" one should begin to believe them. I just read this guy's stellar profile (9/10 GPA and perfect GRE quantitative score) yet no admit much less funding. Na wah!

Many factors come into play for funding.

Let's not forget that the funding strength of the school in question matters. If the school has enough, they can give more or to more students. Some schools are known to give full ride wella, while others rarely give.

If you apply to the school that rarely gives, you stand very little chance, even with your scores. Or to competitive schools, tougher here because many of the students have great profiles too.

I got financial aid (not full) from Columbia but others in same school with higher scores didnt. I simply wrote to the school for aid. These things are not always straight forward. A professor in this school even told me that having a high score alone is not a criterion for funding, that its a holistic thing.

Yes, having great scores are better. That alone, sometimes, might not get you (full) funding.

Hello. Did you msg the dean and prog director? Did you send plenty mails to Finaid and call them? They need to give you something.

I guess the fees should be about 20k per year or less. If they give you half, can you take care of the rest? Or you want to wait and try for full offer next cycle? What opportunities do you have concerning RA/TAships to earn money while schooling?.
Do you belong to their fb page for admitted students, you will get plenty tips there. (I learnt about hostel scholarship from fb grp)

Just check every every before you back out. No harm trying again, be sure you have exhausted all options at this time.

Sorry Bro, I got really discouraged after the school refused to provide ANY funding for the first year. I was asked to provide a balance of over $30k for them to issue I-20. They, however, sounded like there's assurance of funding after the first year.

Sadly, other applications didn't turn out well too.

Got really discouraged.

I did not reject her myself because I was ready and fully prepared for her.

From the little I have read about US visa applications, if a VO denies you the first time, they prefer another VO interviews you the second time. I remember one guy that went a second time and he told the VO "you interviewed me last time". The VO said okay that he will let his colleague interview him this time.

So if you meet the same VO that denied you before, please tell him you met him/her before, you will be taken to another VO.

please note you can't reject a Vo. My friend was denied visa because of that besides it will show in the Vo data base if she or he has interview before.

The deposit is for the school you have picked (if at all the school you chose wants it).

Do people request for i-20 from all the schools that admitted them? No. So, this your point here no follow

Is it the fee you were asked to make before a deadline to secure your admission, to confirm you have accepted the offer? Two schools I was admitted in asked for a deposit if I am accepting, deadline May 1. (2k/500)

Is it out of place for your school to request a tuition deposit of at least $3000 before you they can send I-20 to apply for visa?
Is it also compulsory to get visa before u can make tuition deposit through Form A? I approached sterling Bank today to initiate tuition deposit through form A, the lady said I can't apply for Form A if I don't have a Visa. That I should source for dollar and open a dom account before they can initiate the transactions.

Someone should also share his/her experience if at any point in time you experienced this.

Then, I got a mail from Berkeley saying they do not give scholarships to International students, but only California residents. The email came from their Undergrad office, might be same for their postgraduate.This should explain why your friend didnt get any aid.

They later sent me a link to apply for Graduate Student Instructor GSI and the likes but I didnt. It was a general email and I wasnt ready to ask if I am eligible or not because I was already considering the schools in the East coast.

So anyone applying to Berkeley, confirm you can apply for assitantships even if you are not entiled to the financial aid, and how much you can get from it.

I know someone with a first class and 337 in GRE, he never got funding in Berkeley for masters though.

People got in with less GRE scores, so that's not the only determining factor. Having a high score is very good, doesnt mean you can't get into top schools with lower score.
Don't just turn away because of your score, if you feel it's not okay, check their requirement and see if they stressed on the GRE, and send them an email stating your profile and ask if its ok to apply.

Did you apply to only 1 school? One-school application na strong thing. Besides before you apply to any school, you must check that you meet the requirements, normally they should have listed those courses.

This Nairalander 'amofun' got 8 rejects before the 9th one clicked (although na PhD). So let people apply to the number of schools they want. I believe they have their reasons maybe in a bid to spread their risk. I dont see it as lack of direction. If they get all acceptances, they will be able to narrow it down to one, compared to not getting at all.

For Masters, I like to believe that 5 max should do, but we are all diff.

I thought about that, but are you sure the t-fare wont add up to equal the D.C housing price monthly

Hmmm, i'm not sure many of us paid like this, waste of money. I had my transcript sent to an Educational agency. When I needed a copy for my keep, I just told them to send to me.

Is it possible for me to apply for the local transcript,send to a known co-cooperate address I currently work and then send directly to the universities I wish to apply. What is the implication.
