I paid my USCIS fees last night using my Fidelity bank VISA card. Any visa or master card issued by any nigerian bank will do. However if u have a visa card, u may need to set it up for internet use first. If on the other hand, u already use it to pay for airline tickets or to buy things from Jumia, Konga or any online shop, then ur card is already set up. The most important thing is to get ur account name correct exactly as your bank has it in their system. No abbreviations, no short forms no ommitted or added middle names; it must match exactly. Secondly, u must use the same address that was used to open the account. Don't use office address when it was house address that was used to open the account and vice versa. Once you follow what I have written, you will be able to pay straight from your naira account and the money will be changed at CBN rate with zero charge. In my case I paid $660 for 4 people and N105,600 was taken from my account which means the exchange rate was N160 to the dollar. Embassy rate was N165 and black market is over N170. Now all I need is travel date and a plane ticket 3 Likes |

congratulations to all those with successful interviews and 2NLs, despite all the anxiety and restlessness, we are clocking in the good news one by one. all this should encourage those that are still waiting for theirs. nothing more can be done once documents are submitted. its taken out of our hands at that point but God will surely bring it around and then we come back to testify and the circle goes on like clockwork. i am dead tired but will like to chip in that i collected my visa package today; interview was done on monday. tomorrow i will be driving back to PH with my family feeling very blessed with the blessings we all share. thanks to you all and to my new friends on nairaland with whom i have been in personal touch. nice to know they are all getting their 2NLs and powering up for february. it is going to be a testimony packed month! |

kennex89: please there are two typographical errors on my interview letter, one on my second name of C but they used G and also mistake on house address too, please hope there is no problem with this. thanks. My thoughts, you should write them now now to correct it. It's poor workmanship on their part. We are the only ones allowed to make that sort of mistake as laymen don't let it go unreported or it may make it's way into your passport |

olutola1: You will go through many security checks and if anything is found that u can't take, they won't seize it. They will just send u outside to go and drop it and start the process again from the very back of the line. Phone is a definite no. If u check out of the hotel, you can make arrangements for the hotel to hold your things till u return. but since check out time is 12noon in most hotels, you can decide not to check out till you return. 1 Like |

rantileye: First , if the dv winner did not disclose his kids when first applying, he will not get a visa. If he is married but fills single, same thing. However, he can choose to get married at any point and can subsequently file for the wife to join him. If he had kids before and got a visa for just himself, he can still file for his kids but the waiting time can be very long. |

Ok so this is how it goes... Obatide wakes me up at 4am to prepare, we dilly dally and lazy around till 6am before we leave the house and get there before 6.30am just as they started calling people so we we joined the queue and were last at the time and I said 'oh good so we can sit back and watch other interviews and have more to put on nairaland' but that was not to be. There was a couple that almost didn't show up with anything and said they just got a call to come that day. Well u know they can't be part of this forum so be grateful u are. We were just a few minutes on the line when the kids started complaining they wanted to sit down cos we had done so much the day before on quadbikes, jetskies and go karts (men Lag na fun place sha) so I cld not blame them. By the time we collected our blue tags to cross the road to the embassy proper, my son asked if we had finished . The only person that wasn't so nice there was the lady we paid the $330 to. It was like nothing I had imagined. We were called to submit our documents and I saw the forms I had sent to KCC earlier right there. We ended up submitting 3 sets of passports instead of the 2 others are asked for but they returned all the ones we submitted to KCC. Please be sure u have up to 6 months validity before ur passport expires or u may have issues. The kids and I were all asleep in the hall when our number showed...we didn't even know the interviews had started cos it turns out we were the first. When we did, we packed our stuff, carried the kids and staggered to window 16, where we met the famous pretty black american lady and after the oath and finger prints Co: so u played the lottery urself Me: yes I did Co: highest bla bla Me: bsc Co: where? Me: UI Co: oh I love that school Me: really? How nice Co: its a good school Co: where do u work, what sort of company and what is ur role Me: blah blah Co: ur wife? Me: blah blah Co: so when did u get married? Wifey: blah blah Co: any family photos? Me: lots of them Co: I just need a few...ok so pick up ur visa from blah blah on monday and don't forget there are holidays next week. Congrats and welcome to yankee and that was it Folks. Glory to God in the highest and thanks to my friends on nairaland who will commit their personal resources to ensure we all come out successful. So despite making a mistake as to when we got married (of course we corrected it at once) and looking sleepy and tired, God stood up for us! 3 Likes |

We read with deep sadness the story of chiwuike's denial. my first instinct was to look up his profile and found that not only is he a good writer, he has contributed immensley to the wealth of knowledge in naira land as a whole not just DV2014. in his own words, "The reason why DV2013 thread is d best so far was because they shared information in detail. They did not only share d good news, they also shared d bad news so dat people can learn from dem. They also eavesdrop people interview b4 dem wch made made dem figure out reasons 4 confirmations and denials. Pls give a detailed information to help us prepared adequately. Thanks and God bless us" i am not sure he remembers saying this, but what i know is that true to character, he came back and told us about his 'misfortune'. may God bless him for that and i am proud he is nigerian. |

Hello all, congrats to those that have had successfull interviews. infact, this forum is so full of interviews i almost feel like i am dragging people back by talking about medicals and police clearance which i did on monday this week. well sha, pardon me for the post cos it might help someone i drove all the way from port harcourt to lagos the sunday before and was suprised at how good the roads are. anyway, my first instinct was to go and have a look at the hospitals so as to decide which to use. my first port of call was children's practice and i was surprised to get to something called a hospital only to be told that the dont open on sundays. well i wasnt allowed to put down my name either but was adviced to come around 6am to be sure i was attended to early even though the hospital opens at 8am. now imagine doing this with a family of 4! anyway, i managed to get someone very close to do that for me for a token 1k so that i could then show up at my convenince the following day. it wasnt necessary for me to go see the other hospital cos this was the closest to alagbon where i was to go to later for my police clearance. i got there 8am, was given a teller to go and pay the consulation fees (12K for adults and 7k for children) and forms to sign authorising the hospital to use our information and to disclose the findings to the embassy. a little after nine o'clock, we were called in to have our blood samples taken and then went for X-ray (adults only). following the xray, we were called in to see the doctor were asked a few questions and then based on our immunization records, were sent for immunisation. all this took the greater part of 3 hours and so by 12ish, we were thru and the headed off to alagbon. let me just say that if you have records for immunisation, take them along with 2 copies, especially for kids. they will have to enter them in their recods and list whatever is required (based on age and existing records). then be ready to take a series of injections which may leave you feeling a lot of pain or even slightly ill. my older kid got two inections and cried so much that the younger one started crying even before it got to her turn. hers was 3 injections and she slept the rest of the day cos they knocked her out. also the consultation fee here must be paid to the bank but the immunization fees (which is often the bigger money) can be paid by POS. all this while, i was in contact with obatide and femmyshow2005, two of my nairaland friends who i do not know in person. however, i had the honour and priviledge of meeting femmyshow2005 in person and i must say, he is a really nice guy . he actually came out of his office to meet with me and we even took pictures together. So, at 1pm, i show up with my family at alagbon for my police clearance. there is a gun totting policeman at the gate who asks me what i want. i feared i had driven into the lions den becasue in port harcourt where i come from, you dont want to be found loitering around places like the state CID. anyway i tell him what i want and he says i should follow a man wearing a police id card and the guy walks ahead and asks me to park right inside the compound under the shed of the trees where the sun wont disturb my kids in the car. i notice on the wall that the parking space was reserved for O/C something/something and i thought to myself how different lagos is from port harcourt. in ph, you cant drive up to the gate, the whole area is barricaded and you must drop all communications gadgets at the reception before you are allowed in. for those that read my earlier post about that visit, you will recall that i said the place was 100% free of touts. well, here i was sitting down in front of the asp gisting happily with him, my car parked in O/C something/something's space pinging with obatide who did not want me to be exploited (God bless him) and in no time at all, it was out. one thing struck me though, the police men there consider the american embassy guys as irritating people . they always come to verify the records and even when they waste their time to make them leave in frustration they just sit there patiently until whenever they are attended to. i strongly feel that these are nigerians that work for the embassy and it is good to know that we have people like that. i also whish that other government prastatals can borrow a leaf from the NPF to free their offices of touts. especially immigrations and customs. on a final note, whatever good feelings we had during the medicals were eroded when my wife went back to get the results because she was kept there for another 3 hours. shame on them. besides, we were refused a copy of the results which i think is wrong because we have a right to our own health records and i strongly believe it was also stated in the document we signed. i will take it up with them. |

Malcolm28: Medicals and Police Clearance certificate done, waiting for my interview on tuesday 3rd December. I'd like to share my experience at the Medicals (Consultant Practice) cos it might help someone. Got there around 10:20am after going through a bit of traffic. Was given a Zenith Bank Teller to go pay the total sum of 38k which is the consultation fees (12,000 each for 2 adults and 7,000 each for 2 children). Nothing beats a properly narrated experience to learn from. God bless you for taking the time out to put this in writing in this forum. Wishing u a successfull interview as I look forward to an equally detailed account. |

Madu77: Please house I went to NPC office at Moscow road PH for my attestation of birth and they did not ask me for affidavit from court. I gave them my data plus my wife own but was asked to go and get passport copy of any of our living parents. I hope the absence of the affidavit is not a problem or raise a case later? I did mine there too and everything is handled by them including the affidavit and is part of what you pay for. you could just ask them again when you return with the passport so that your mind will be at peace. |

blessed512: HELP! HELP!! HELP!!! This is a very interesting case and you will probably get a lot of advice from different people all saying the same thing in different ways so let me just give a summary. 1. You need to fill out another set of forms with the true information irrespective of what was in the former form. 2. You do not need the agent anymore if you know your case number and other details so you never have to pay him anymore money 3. If the guy gives you any trouble, you can send an email to the embassy and report him (maybe you should even do that upfront) 4. if you go through previous threads, you will see the way similar issues have been handled. read up from https://www.nairaland.com/1359935/u.s-consular-officer-ask-me/0#19686358 and https://www.nairaland.com/927190/dv-2013-winners-meet-here/168 wish you all the best. 1 Like |

phatdon4u: if it is something as simple as marital status that is omitted, then she can just send them a mail with the detail. if it is getting complicated, then she will have to fill out the forms again and email to them. however, i am not sure that is a good example cos if you are married, then there is a whole lot of spouse detail to fill in. and if you are not, then there are several boxes to be left open. |

On a general note, there was this complaint that was getting common for the DV2013 guys. They reported that some radiologist in one of the hospitals was in the habit of telling people that he saw something in the x-ray that may get them denied a visa and will end up collecting money from them to 'cover it up'. Please o! try not to fall victim and if anybody finds anything suspicious is going on, the least you can do is alert others and together we can fight any evil. |

jollyiwin: some thing I failed to do and I believed it important to let you guys know. To add to your point, it is a very good idea to have a scan copy of the bio-data page and visas emailed to your self not just for your passport, but for all your vital documents and certificates. they will come in extremely handy if your documents get lost or damaged. as a matter of fact, sometimes you can even get away with presenting only copies rather than carry originals around all the time (the does not include embassies o!) |

komakan: I dont think anyone in d forum will ask you to do your police clearance in Porthacourt, it should be Birth attestation at NPC. You can only get ur police clearance done at Alagbon in Lagos. Goodluck! PH is one heck of an expensive town. However the police clearance can be done at any state CID. Only difference is they still send it to Alagbon that's y it takes so long. |
