Women in northern Nigeria under the aegis of Progressive Women of Northern Nigeria (PWNN) has called on the Senate to throw out any bill seeking to establish equality between men and women in the country. In a letter sent to the senate president the group threatened to occupy the National Assembly if the senators proceed with the consideration of any such bill.



“We represent the progressive women in northern Nigeria. We are using this medium to convey our disapproval of any attempt to legislate any form of equality between men and women under any guise. We are subject to the Quran which is superior to any human written law. Our place is in the home of the man whose authority over us is unchallengeable. We are therefore putting the senate on notice that any attempt to make any law to the contrary will leave us with no option than to occupy the National Assembly”.



A member of the PWNN told YeyeNews.com that the prevalent view among the women of the region is that the move to make men and women equal is a ploy by southern women to introduce vices into the lives of northern women. She said because of the freedom enjoyed by southern women they have imbibed a lot of vices. “They dress loosely exposing their flesh; they don’t see anything wrong going out with a man that is not their husband and the married ones argue with their husbands. These are things they want to introduce to our young girls through that law. We don’t want any equality. The northern woman is satisfied with are position”.

There's levels in life and vocations. I'm a political strategist but think I'm not yet in the premier league.
Chief Bisi Akande may have successfully launched his book.
Yes with the president, Senate president and host of other bigwigs who graced the epoch making event, it's sure a success.
But what I'm not sure, is if the book itself is a success.
I say this because every literally work has its audience and what it wants to achieve.
The revelation so far from the book has left bitter taste in many mouths. Feathers are actually ruffled. And in the days ahead, reactions will flood everywhere.
1. The book commonized VP Osibanjo and makes him look like an errand boy before ascension to seat of VP.
2. The book painted Buhari as lilly-liver and dishonest fellow.
3. The book painted Tinubu as desperate and greedy. A sellout to say the least.
4. The book thinks OBJ is a backstabber.
5. Sees GEJ as clown and waster.
6. Sees Pa Adebanjo as selfish and greedy

And this is just a random read.
Who knows what this book tends to achieve, but if it's for the sake of 2023, it came at the wrong time.
I may be wrong. I hope I am.

Just like I posted in the other thread only Baba Akande knows why he rushed to launch the book. It portrayed BAT in bad light and even GMB as an untrustworthy fellow. Book like this are usually written as memoir way after the whole events are over and not while the game is still on. I personally blame the reviewer(s) for allowing such book to be published at this time. The damage it is going to unleash would be worse than whatever gain the writer intends to benefit.

Whoever mooted the idea may have used Baba Akande's expositions about how he and BAT cared less about a Muslim-Muslim ticket in a complex nation as ours to a Muslim-Christian ticket preferred by the north in the run up to the 2015 presidential election as a cover to unleash this attack. As for me I find it difficult to understand why this book is being launched now. It may eventually affect BAT's political chances, I may be wrong but time will tell.

When names of the prominent northerners are missing and that of OBJ is listed speaks volumes of this memoirs. Who are they? Why is baba Akande afraid to mention their names? What is driving these expose, especially given the fact that BAT has indicated his interest to run for the highest position in the country? So many questions, but few answers.

Akande stated that he later came to know that some people constituted themselves into a group, called the Northern Interest Group, and they prevailed on Buhari not to allow a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

According to him, it was the following day after the Elders’ Committee meeting which was deadlocked, that Buhari phoned Tinubu to give him three names from which he would pick a running mate.

“We were registered in July 2013, and he called me to prevail on Tinubu to be his running mate in April 2014. Buhari knew I was upset but we tried to manage the situation. Perhaps he was overwhelmed by all those pressures. We decided to let him go,” Akande said.

The first impression is always the correct one. If GMB reneged on a simple agreement as that, how are we sure he will support him? Babangida also made a similar staement that he was under pressure from northern military group not to handover power to MKO. If we are to believe all the craps, then who is sure that the winner would be sworn in if the so called " interest group" decides to annul our collective choice in 2023.
