Health › Re: Bill To Prevent Medical Doctors From Getting Licence Till After 5 Years by olakan22: 4:10pm On Apr 07, 2023 |
For those claiming 'federal government subsidised training' and things like that. It's not true. Higher education in Nigeria is designed as such. You can't compare how much it takes to study Mass Communication in Nigeria with the same abroad. Education is -supposedly- subsidized for everyone going to a government university.
There is no enough number of doctors in Nigeria to begin with. Our schools are not training enough because they lack the capacity to do so. Even UI doesn't have accreditation to admit up to 250 students for medicine in a year. Nigerian medical schools barely churn out a few hundred doctors yearly. So the brain drain isn't simply because they are leaving, the brains are not even there in the first place.
Again, doctors are not the only ones emigrating. For every doctor, five nurses have gone. For every healthcare worker, ten non medical have gone. Shouldn't we be worried about our tech guys leaving? What about infrastructure when the engineers have finished leaving? What about our trained teachers? Or the thousands of agricultural graduates who could potentially help deal with our food supply deficits.
Furthermore, why are people leaving at all. No bill can stop people from getting out. Eventually, they will abadon medicine and go do whatever in the abroad if that's what they think is necessary for their survival. Even senior doctors are leaving same as senior executive staffs of various companies. So it's about the country being a mess and people looking out for their best interests, nothing ignoble about that.
This bill is repressive. It should not be defended under any guise. Sadly, medicine is one of the toughest places to work these days. This is an unnecessary distraction and heating up of the policy. |

Zonefree: Stop patronising mediocrity. University in 21st century producing bread to generate funds is a big low. It's a university for crying out loud! They should go into inventories like Biogas waste management and collaborate with government if they truly want to generate funds. Producing ordinary bread that our dearest daughter Ahnie can produce inside her 2 by 2 kitchen is laughable. Several Universities in Nigeria are making bread and water. Announcing it was probably 5heir only mistake |

Even tho I have my reservation with regards to how he’s governing using propaganda of performance, but I believe he is a better alternative than the other candidates.
Oyo state need a governor that can think outside the box of paying salary alone as the yardstick for success. We need to open up the Oke Ogun axis and etc and utilize the agricultural potential in those places. Just sad that we are left with Makinde & Teslim. Paying salary regular is the beginning of economic stability in many states of the country. His major road projects were towards 'opening up Okeogun'. Meanwhile, Aregbesola as governor of Osun is the definition of 'propaganda' |

Again not tenable excuse. Haven't you had challenges before? Did you just give up? People didn't vote because they didn't realize what was at stake. Those of us that went to vote are also pained. But when there's life, there's hope. The honest truth is this; without voters' overwhelming participation, elections would always be uncredible. Wainey: For me, I lost the interest to go out and vote not because Tinubu won. No, he was the second candidate who I preferred after Atiku and I somehow believed he will win.
The election across the federation was full of tension, the rivalry was interesting and the results shows that oppositions fought well and Tinubu's victory wouldn't have made me lost interest but then it was Rivers state results that demoralized me. Everyone here in Rivers State knows that the state is a battle ground for PDP and LP but that isn't what happened. Infact if not for Rivers state results, the presidential election won't look like it was rigged and we would have had hope in our electoral system but Rivers state was just a hope killer. Wike made it obvious that he rigged it just to pepper Atiku but what he did was to pepper a greater percentage of Nigerians. I actually voted Sha after much persuasions from people. |

What's this song of 'INEC disappointed before, so people are discouraged' that everyone is singing. Do you people just give up when you face troubles? After all, it's not everytime that the people's will are subverted. Sad as it is, last election wasn't unexpected. Turnout was about thirty percent.
People are generally apathetic to electoral process. It is unfortunate and disappointing. Perhaps education and enlightenment will cause improvements in subsequent election.
But pls, let's not give excuses for those who didn't vote especially where there are no threats to their lives and properties. They didn't do well at all! |

Okealaaye: That's the spirit. I've been living continuously in Ibadan since 1977, but Seyi Makinde takes the sweetest portion of the cake of failure in governance. Never seen a calamity like him before. Even non-natives like the military Governors of the past were much better. All na mouth even when he's as inarticulate as a toddler learning its first words - em em em! Come to Ibadan and see how the English first encountered the word Eyesore. Refuse and alms-beggars have taken over the main streets. That's beside the activities of street and in-traffic sellers o. And he cannot point to an enduring capital project he has executed, despite the claims of his yansh-lickers to the contrary! Makinde ranks in performance with his friend Ortom, the Disaster of Benue. Maybe a class Monitor in Primary 2, but no one would appoint Seyi Makinde Senior Boy in our school way back in the Primary School. It is like he's unable to bear on his slender neck the tonnage of load he has so unfortunately heaped on his head! By the grace of God, an end is coming to this wave of calamities in Oyo state next week. We know your kind. His handling of the Pandemic alone is enough for a re-election. Ladoja is asking y'all to forgive Folarin the same way you were cajoled to forgive Buhari. If the election is without disruption and there is good turnout, Makinde will get it. And by God's grace, the citizenry of Oyo will continue to enjoy peace and progress |

Where all other party candidates are either supporting the suffering or gone dumb entirely on the issue.
France and UK battling inflation. Egg is scarce in UK, shortage of baby-food in US, Argentina inflation rate is nearing 100% , Estonia, Germany scrambling due to shortage of gas. Columbia, Venezuela, Ecuador are fighting pre-covid survival due to high cost of living. Libya is in turmoil, Ukrainians don't even have a country to call theirs.
Yet our Bunch of irrelevant political tools disguising as yeyebrities are using the country's situation to invoke cheap attention.
But they are never at fault. People like the OP that gives credence and attach importance to what clowns like this failed comedian Mr macaroni or forgotten musicians like Psquare brothers says, is the culprit here. Gben5: I have a townhouse with three bedrooms. My office occupies one of the bedrooms, but six months ago, my boyfriend of two years moved in. To protect his five-year-old son and also two elder daughters, our plans to get married have been delayed.
He came to me to tell me that his ex can no longer afford her apartment due to the drastic rent increase and is preparing to leave Accra and relocate to her parent's home. According to my boyfriend, he doesn't want to stay far away from his children and doesn't want to keep his children away from their mother.
He is proposing that they move in temporarily with us. This will mean I give up my office, or he moves in with his ex to help out financially, and both of those options will destroy our bond. What do I do? Let him go! You will be setting yourself up for a nasty heartbreak. And I don't think there's any bond here. It's not enough that he's living with you, he also wants to bring in his whole family. The guy doesn't rate you at all. He should move in with them if he wants to but not in your house. Be gentle, be calm but be firm. If he leaves because of that, let him go! |

Akwaokukuo: Hey guys, this question goes to the men in this thread who are married to medical doctors, especially those working in the UK or any other western country. What are your experiences? Judging from the busy schedule of medical doctors, how do you guys take care of the children? What are the biggest challanges you face in your marriage?
I am currently dating a medical student and plan to send her abroad immediately after her studies. I would appreciate hearing from those with the experience or those whose relatives are married to medical doctors and both of them live in any western country. Thank you. You won't be the one to send her abroad bro. Many medical students are already making plans to emigrate so again, it won't be you sending her abroad. I think y'all are going to have issues based on that alone. She shouldn't be expected to pay you back because relocating to practice abroad is mainly dependent on her efforts. About being busy, I think you know the answer. She will be very busy and you will have to deal with that as a couple for several years. Summarily, if you're looking for a girl that would be a 'typical' housewife, a medic shouldn't be in your list. Bless up |

Despite the fact that the news confirmed that the persons of interest were not truly doctors. OP still went on to title the thread 'Kano doctor...' mischievously.
