Ariblaze,

why not leave my personality aside and let finish what we started. You have not answered my questions though.

I am sure I am not doing anything extra-ordinary to warrant your special interest in my personality. So ?

Yes, now. Some chaps out there seem to have found pleasure in breaking other people's heart.

I know glass break easily, and may even cut your body. Plastic is good, you can always mend it. Rubberband can stretch to a great lenght and still retain it strength. I think rubberband is ok.

To break my heart, the fellow would first exhaust himself or herself. All the while, I plot an excape route. I know there are stubborn predators though. I am prepare for them. Honestly, they are in for surprises!

Thanks for the complement. I actually fancy taking on Omoge, Spoilt and those who vehemently oppose men and brand men as promiscuous just because they take a second wife. I think that is the only way I can prove my words. Should they discover that my ideal doesn't work, I will gladly ''sign-out''. I think it would be fun seeing the best of Omoge et al as they 'live the dream'. Maybe they would start singing a new tune thereafter.

I am interested. Go ahead, you know I always look out for the good. Maybe I should focus my mirror on you. Who knows, you may be dreaming. It is one thing to wish, it is another to dream. There are two kind of dreamers though. That is why I don't ignore dreamers.

"Those who dream by night in the dirty recess of their minds wake up to find it is vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for he can act his dreams with his eyes open"

that is why I shows interest in dreamers. Between their fantasies and realities is a thin line that would sooner be exposed by their actions and inactions.

Let hear your plan. How do we go about it?

Omoge,

if you are seeking to change my conviction about polygamy; if you are seeking to recruit me to the group that have great aversion to polygamy; if you are, whatever, I maintains, with even stronger conviction that polygamy is better in some circumstances, than monogamy. AND IF I FOUND MYSELF IN SUCH CIRCUMSTANCE, I WOULD NOT HESISTATE TO GO FOR IT. But, I have a set of rules in place to ensure that it succeed against the negative permutation of the cynics, fault-finders and the POLYBAD/MONOGOOD apostles.

I am not greedy though. Maybe, just two! What do you think Omoge? Won't you love the thrill of being our family friend and have a first hand experience of how we do it. How we make it work. Maybe you would gladly recommend your hubby to take a second babe! And if you are still single, I would be extremely happy to pick you as the number two! Since I know you hate rival, I wouldn't get you a 'junior'.

Ariblaze

two things come to mind as I read lists that you presented:

if an individual had not taken time to discover what he is really capable of, he would continually be a victims of all the maladies you listed above. For instance, when a talented singer, engage in commercial Bus vocation, driving or Conducting, and he suffer chronic poverty no matter how hard he work. It is obvious something is wrong. We know that late Abami Eda, Fela, Anikulapo was not send abroad to read music. He left Naija to read Law. He found no fulfillment in law. When he discovered his natural gift, he abandoned his study and ended up reading music!

His musical career was not an instant hit. He said he had once performed to an empty hall. This happened before he developed his unique musical style.

You will notice that environment is not the sole factor that aided his self-discovery. He looked within. He came from academic environment, where music is not considered a decent vocation. He knew what he wanted, but kept it at his mind until he left his parents. Changing his environment from 'unfavorable' to 'favourable' had impact on his choice. The moment he get out, he began a process of personal development. Through application of his will-power and the the factors you listed above in positive sense.

He encountered obstacles, overcame them and went ahead to become a legend.

The second thing is: if an individual had discovered his talent, purpose, but do little or nothing about it. The list you presented is a good observation. Unfortunately, it goes beyond the list. IT TAKES THE GRACE OF GOD, WHETHER BY ACIDENCE OF BY DESIGN FOR A MAN TO DISCOVER HIS VOCATION AND THEN SUCCEED IN IT. It takes application of faith mixed with other active ingredients. You can find a Banking and finance graduate struggling for a living while, a graduate of Botany would hit it big even though they works in the same environment. You will also notice that in spite of their fat pay, not all bankers are rich!

Granny, the break did me lot of goods. I don't need panadol now. In fact, I would have extended it but for the fact that I yearn for action. To feel the thrill of Nairaland. What is more, I feel so lonely in there.

So how are you, granny?

Hope acid drop didn't miss me. After all, KObe, and co had always been there. I am glad.
RomanceRe: Men And Women Of Values, What Is Your Creed? by olanajim(op): 5:05pm On Aug 22, 2007
So we are moving, Ariblaze, aren't we? It is fun as you can see, moving up and down a particular creed, challenging it, yet looking for the positive impact. I learn from you as well as you learn from me. That is the way it should be. But the topic you started had no end. It had generated another issue which we should look into.

I am sure those who are not contributing are reading. Every right thinking individuals are welcome.

So, let look at life purpose from point of view of our life accomplishment. Did you know that many men lives and dies without even discovering their life goal? If we both agreed that everyone has a life mission which, if properly executed, he will NEVER fail in it. Why then do multiple of people wallows in abject poverty, wants, sorrow et al? Why would just less than 5% of the populace realizes their goals?

Let view the discurse from that angle.
RomanceRe: Men And Women Of Values, What Is Your Creed? by olanajim(op): 3:39pm On Aug 22, 2007
You are going to find that we agrees as we disagree. So far, we are saying same thing. But you got my idea of destiny wrong.

The two envilopes I mentioned was a parable. To illustrate my position on destiny and freewill, that is willpower. No man had ever denied the existence of will power.

In Biology, we talk of conditional reflexes and unconditional reflex when studying nervous system. The conditional ones are those we learn as we grow up eg, riding a bicycle. The unconditionals are those we don't need to learn. They are inborn. Eg, lifting your hands and crying.

It is a matter of fact that environment had impact on what a man become in life. I strongly believe in that. My argument is that we all have a specific mission that must be discovered if we want to live in harmony with God and be happy.

Some people discover this by accident, some by training, some naturally live it from birth. Environment or no environment, a man of strong will-power with a sense of mission would accomplish his goal. Ever wonder why people like Mike Adenuga hit it big in a country ravaged by poverty? If you think it is element of luck, perish the thought.

When you talk about talent. If a man do not yet discover the talent, he would be wasting or under-achieving. It is incubent on him to find it and learn how to use it. That talent is to me, your purpose. The role nature gave you may not be what you are playing. One thing I have noticed however is that when a man exploit his natural ability, he would succeed against all odds. A man who goes against his natural capability would struggle painfully before he reach his goal. In most case, he would find that something is missing. Either he underachieve or he derive no joy in what he is doing.

Notwithstanding, environment, family, education are just a catalysts that accelerate or inhibit man's ability to discover himself. A man of strong will-power who had found his life goal seldom fail to meet his target.
FamilyRe: Why Would A Man Go For A Second Wife? by olanajim(m): 2:00pm On Aug 22, 2007
The interesting thing about life is that, there would always be opposing sides. You can't say some men sleep about, and conquently conclude that ALL men sleep about! That is what I am always against-generalization with baseless argument. When a crazy guy said there is no good girl in Naija again, everyone know he was wrong in branding all women community as slut to be used and dumb. Why should we then, assume that men can be broadly categorise as lusty, flirty, and driven by sexual misadventures? I tell you with deepest sense of humility that NOT EVERY MAN WHO RUNS A POLYGAMOUS HOME IS WAYWARD. Just as I can not say that EVERY WOMAN WHO ALLOW HER HUSBAND GET A SECOND WIFE IS A FOOL.

There will always be the good and bad. No one can change that. My point remains, unchanged: POLYGAMY HAS IT VIRTURE, AND IN MOST CASES, IT WOULD BENEFICIAL WHEN PROPERLY RUN.

Funmeme,
what is that supposed to mean? Spying, or eavesdropping. Drop in.

Ariblaze

sir

I strongly believe it is possible for nature to assign us a role/purpose just as it is equally achievable for a man to create his own life goals, roles, purpose etc.

Let go into that issue. It is complex but quite in order. When you are born, you came with two envilopes. An empty envilope and a filled one. Both of them carry no sign of weight variation. One is your destiny the other is your freewill. Every human being had destiny that is, role. But, I don't think destiny is generally specific in most cases, many people never discover their life goal. And that is why we fails. That is why it take us lot of time to reach our goals. But those who discover their nature assigned role earlier succeed faster than other. Most people fail to understand that the power to drive their destiny is in their hand. They can only do that if they take control.

You are right about assigning a purpose for yourself. You must realize that our subconscious energy has an impact on our decision. Nature had built for everyone, an energy level, through which we can build our life purpose. It is just like a Diamond. An unrefined diamond is not that adorable. That is nature.

Now, it take skills and efforts to locate Diamond. You won't find it in your vault by default. Then, you need to refine it and then make it into desired shape or application. All these are not performed by NATURE. Men do it on their own.

Similar comparison can be made when talking of life purpose.

God had given you what you need to become somebody, it is your duty to discover it and nurture it to your taste.

You are the driver of your own destiny. You must however not ignore the roles assigned for you by nature. It is critical to your success in any undertaking. The role nature assign you is useless if you would do nothing to bring it out and build on it.

Sincerely, getting a good man or a bad man is not hard. You don't get diamond in the desert. You look for it at the right place. Good people don't announce themselves. But they would not repel you either unless you want to polute them.
