buzugee:My brother, I am not the type to try to evade a £10 train fare. There were no conductors on the train. It was an hour journey. The reason I felt bad is because I feel this is the norm nowadays. Preferential treatment of oyinbo even they do worse than us dudus. Even in Nigeria, Lebaneses run things. Its sad and as for me, I wont let it pass. |
A similar experience with an Asian last night at Waterloo station: This time, its not about visa, but about Rail fares. Its friday night, I decided to travel to London for the weekend, so I picked a few things and set out for London (on a South West Train route). I left around 9pm and the ticket office was closed, the machine was out of service. This is not a new thing as it happened to me once. The day I was travelling to Heathrow for a flight to Nigeria, I missed 2 trains because I was trying to get a ticket before I travelled. Anyways, I boarded a train last night with no tickets, hoping to meet a train guard who would sell a ticket to me. They do this alot on SW trains and its not an issue (especially on the Reading line). I got to London Waterloo and looked for a train guard, but didnt see any. So I went to the ticket checkers to ask for where to buy a ticket for my journey. I was then directed to this ASIAN man. He was attending to a lady who just came off thesame train as me. The Lady had the same problem with me, but difference is that she was coming from Royal Ascot and had this big hats on and looked posh. The ASIAN man quickly told her the fares to pay and she paid the EXACT fare. A few seconds later, he turned to me and asked what my issue was. I said 'same problem with the lady, but different set out point'. He looked at me and smiled wickedly and said I had to pay a £20 fine. I was furious but didnt let out my anger. I told him I was not going to pay in a respectful way and demanded to pay the exact fare as the oyinbo lady paid. He then looked at me and said if I repeat that am not paying, he will get me arrested. I have never been arrested in the UK, so I told him still I was not paying. He called the police over and I explained to the police that I am not a fare-evader and am just a victim of their faulty system. The police then asked me to lodge an appeal but still take the fine. I told them there and then that I will do that. They asked for my name, DOB and address. I provided them with my name(ommited my other name) and gave them my address. The ASIAN man then tried verifying my address and said it was FAKE. I was furious and told him to stop insulting me. The police lady there then tried to verify the address and said she found the address, but not my name on that address. they asked if I was British, and I said am Nigerian. Before I could say a word, And I wasnt even aggresive in anyways, I was rough handled and handcuffed! They then went ahead to frisk me right there in the full glare of people at Waterloo. They expected me to be violent, but I was cool and calm and asking many probing questions. I was later allowed to tell them why I wasnt registered on the police database was because I just moved to the address. They went ahead to confirm this. WHile confirming, they asked for my immigration status! I said I was legal and am a research student, hence my moving address from midlands to Berkshire. They then went ahead to call home office. I asked why all the humiliation, and they said my body language looked suspicious. When they found that all I said was true all along, I was DE-ARRESTED (never heard that word). They then said I should give a statement, but only asked structured questions. I refused to answer the questions. E.g 'did you have a ticket when boarding the train' and they expected yes or no! I said, I had the means to buy the ticket, and was willing and able to buy, but no vendor. The police now issued a 'caution with option' and I'm expecting their charges in post next week. I will not rest till I prove my case and I will not pay that fine. I will rather leave this country for them. Beware of ASIAN people. They're overzealous in trying to prove they're the better ethnic minorities. Unlike blacks and whites who just do the job normally, ASIAN will always try to bring down the blacks as against their race. |
I want to believe the people in the National security unit are still in a meeting. OR why the silence? |
Has Ringim resigned yet? Count down to Ringim's resignation now, Oh I forgot the IGP position is zoned! |
debrief08:In a country where the rule of law applies, alot of people would have been successfully prosecuted for crimes against the state. Unfortunately in Nigeria, these people seem to be in numbers from a particular tribe and any president that tries that will be accused of ethnic cleansing. However, in times like this, any use of decisive force will be justifiable. Just map out the location of the sect or MEND and send in a well loaded apache helicopter with a ruthless pilot on ogogoro to please clear them out. This is too much. Ashamed to go for lunch break because Nigeria is on TV and am not ready to answer questions from foreigners about how insecure my country has become |
debrief08:Well, there is no national security until Nigeria state is actually threatened. I expect then Nigerian COBRA to be meeting now with Azazi lambasting Ijeakara. I also feel the IGP was out of his depth when appointed. He was far behind in the ranking that Nigeria lost some 6 fine DIGs and now I see his mouthstache and smell incompetence. |
This is a big breach in National security and if those on top of security do not see this as a declaration of war on the Nigeria state, then we're doomed. Force Headquaters? I cant even concentrate at work anymore. This is enough to impeach Jonathan if he doesnt respond properly. Bring in the army, if its boko haram, send apache to annihilate them. Simple. If its MEND, blow up their hide outs and clear them out. This is full war on Nigeria, and we must respond with decisive force. No more negotiations. |
One fact in all these bombings is this: A regime change has just happened, someone or some people are bent on making a statement with the lives of innocent Nigerians. The ones who cannot write article are giving bombs to miscreants. If only our president had balls, the following people should be inside SSS underground bunker cell now with no access to sunlight for a month: Ciroma, Atiku, and others who promised to CANCEL Nigeria. Its so coming together now! |
Tribune wants to destroy Awo legacy in the face of the youths of today. We know our leaders of today. Oba mewa, igba mewa. We know that if not for Tinubu's stance in 2003, Nigeria will be a one-party state. We know that it is Tinubu's shrewdness and the people's support that brought back ACN to the SW. I just wish Tribune stop this nonsense before making mama HID look like papa Randle who was put in his place by Fashola. If Tinubu should shoot one, I do not think mama HID (Akala's new found godmother) will stand for longer. Agba to so suku agbado modi, |
How much is profit on a gallon of oil? How many people pay tithe per week? How many gallons of oil does the average oil baron sell in a week? Compare this to Tithe times hundreds of thousand church goers a week. I think these pastors arent really tapping their potentials. They can be richest men in the world if they up thier game |
If you want military strikes like Libya's on NIgeria in 2 months time, do the following: 1. Harness all profit from NIGERIAN oil into Nigeria 2. Remove all expats and replace with qualified Nigerians 3. Stop taking loans from western 'ponzy' banks 4. Start building a susteinable economy without western inputs 5. Start feeding Nigerians and increasing our standard of living. 6. Start repaying all loans 7. Block any avenue to steal from Nigerian wealth. Do the few things above Mr Jonathan and you will become a 'tyrant' to the BBC. Mandela was a terrorist according to BBC. After doing those things above, Mr Jonathan will then be put in same class as the Mugabes and Ghaddafis. |
Ghaddafi is a tyrant, but Libya was a haven before the war! The day Nigeria has a leader the west do not like, that day NIgeria starts to move back on the straight road. Today its land grabbing, yesterday it was oil blocks being dashed to foreigners for tokens. I think the day we all wake up and support ourselves against a common enemy, that day, we become liberated. Gbagbo vs Qattara was hot. UN never encouraged peace deals. French commandoes moved in to oust a sitting president. Now Ivoriens are enemies divided North vs South. But the French currency is still in use by both sides. Africans fight each other, West gains from it. Libyan rebels agitating against government, NATO arms them and destroys Libya's military capacity. Anywhere you spot trouble in Africa, look closely and you will see its between one force trying to protect its people's integrity and another force trying to despoil its people to please the Westerners |
I do not work with Arik, but what I noticed is abit of racism amongst staffers on board. How come the head steward is always oyinbo? Fly from London to Lagos and all you see as head steward is one oyinbo who barely passed A level English. Also I think the anger amongst the workers is spilling to the passengers. Why have Oyinbo flight attendants from Kazakhstan who mix arabic with english? Are there no more good looking and well spoken Nigerians? I think Arik needs to address this racism thing asap. I think its rude to think the best Nigerian passengers deserve is an half-baked foreigner lording it over us on a 6 hr flight when our own people, who understand us, are left serving water. |
Well, so when they milk Africa finish, where will they go? Cause war and everybody kpamut! God Almighty is not asleep. He gives knowledge to who He wills. One day, Africa will be ruled by a set of leaders who will be very intelligent and liberate Africa. Ghaddaffi is one intelligent guy, but some semi-literate people see him as a bad ruler. He set aside money to liberate Africa, but Egyptian revolution provided a cloud for the Europeans to come in and destroy Africa a bit. Qattara was put in by French, our people are hailing. I pity Africa. Living in UK has opened my eyes to the policies of these western governments as regards Africa. They do not care one bit about us. Simple. You can kill 1 billion Africans as long as you give 10 billion dollars to a western government concession. You dont need to worry about PR. BBC will praise you. They will return a few millions in AIDS. However, the events of Egypt will certainly happen across Africa one day. We will wake up and become anti-western. Until then, let them tap us more. We will come back for it. |
NO, muslims do not call the name of propher Mohammed(SAW) in times of trouble because he is not our creator. I think the person to call during trouble is God; the one who created me and you, who owns this world, who is the only master on the day of judgement, who created Jesus (AS), who feeds me and you and who provides security. The one who's throne is bigger than the earth. He (Allah) describes himself so much in the Quran that you can hardly miss Him or His effects in your life. |
Any Yoruba that feels marginalised is certainly a lazy type. The earlier people realise that a Yooba nation which doesnt depend so much on the FG is the best for us, the better. It may look challenging, but it will always end up in goodies for the people because we will learn(have actually learnt) to generate resources for ourselves and not depend so much on the FG. I'm praying that one day, political jobs in the center will become less attractive to the Yoruba nation so that we can use our 'opolo' to fight for our survival. Let those who want to milk Nigeria continue milking while we grow thick skins and develop more independent revenue generation. On a more political tone, its even better Yoruba has nothing in top 5 now. When we present 'Prince' Fashola, then the zoning agitators will certainly have nothing to talk about then. Lets kill zoning now and then fight the battle with bare popularity. A trap set, people fell in, waiting to go collect the prey. Long live Jagabon Borgu |
I heard Akala is in UK. Anyone who knows where his house is should please make the address public. I will pay him a visit and ask him a few questions in a lawful way. He cannot be prosecuted in Nigeria as I know he left Nigeria on 28th May. |
' a seal has been set on their eyes' They will not see the light even if you put them in a full filled with light. |
The problem these 'DADDY GOs' is causing to many Nigerians is too much. They raise false hopes and collect the little people have. They make people become lazy while promising blessing through seed planting or whatever name they call it. God will surely punish them for using His glorious name in fraud. Once politicians start sitting in front row of your church, then take heed. I look forward to the day these churches will print out the names and sources of 'gifts' perhaps we may start seeing why Nigeria is filled with bad leaders. Oyinlola did thanks giving after stealing peoples mandate for years. A pastor was present and even prayed in Jesus name! what a shame. Ashimolowo is another clown who uses God's name to mess up people in Hackney. I first heard of him when a news report in eevning standard pointed to the fact that the richest church is located in the poorest area of London. I had to start thinking again. I listened to some of his preachings on youtube and I can tell you guys that less than 30% of his 10 minute video was actually saying anything about christianity. He rambled about his big houses, his cars and his lifestyle, how rich he was and how riches meant blessings. I felt sick, and he rounded up saying everyone in the crowd can be blessed like him and all they need is to sow the seed! Well, God dey. |
iPhone is best I think. Apps to badt. HTC phones are also very good. I used one over the weekend and I was impressed. I dont think I will swap my iPhone 4 for it though. The size of iPhone and the sleekness does it for me. battery life is ok. I watch movies all day because of my 3G unlimited access. However, apps prices on apple can be defeating. But you can still get some nice £0.59 apps that will tingle your brain all year. |
I read alot of el-Rufai's articles and the more I read it, the more I see an empty man. I really feel he has lost it. There is nothing new in his articles or blogs. We all know the problem Nigeria has. We all know we have bad leaders. El-Rufai is not a saint as he paints himself. Nigeria cannot just jump out of this mess with articles like this. We need positive thinkers not negative bashers. He needs to match his articles with solutions. His only solution so far is Buhari. BUT Nigeria this day did not get to this mess in one year. I think Nigeria's problem will be solved from bottom upwards and not the other way round. You can criticize the goverment in power all you like, but it really will not change anything if the people do not know what they want. Nigerian youths are not as vibrant as before. We are now so lazy we blame government for everything, including our lack of self-discipline. I want every young person reading El-Rufai's articles to ask themselves this question: DO I HAVE THE SAME OPPORTUNITY AS EL-RUFAI'S CHILDREN? If not, then dont take him serious. El- Rufai had opportunity 90% of Nigerians do not have. He messed it up with his cosmetic approach to urban planning. We youths need to hold our future in our hands and discard failures like El-Rufai. We no longer have role models in government, save maybe Fashola. El-Rufai can quote billions, but he forgot that while he was in power with OBJ, we also read about this billions without ever feeling its impacts. There are many Northerners I respect and will listen to anyday. El-Rufai can never be amongst them. If tomorow he is offered a job with Joe boy, I guess the tone of the articles will change. Nigerian Youths should stop reading articles with El-Rufai's name in it. It wont do us no good. |
You should not marry this lady. Simple. Here you are talking of marriage after 6 months of your head being turned aside. I have dated a lady 6 years older. she was superb, before I opened my eyes. One thing you should realise is that older ladies can take care of you so much that you will forget your name. Life will feel so easy because everything you do will be hailed and they will replicate 10 folds. However, the game changes when she becomes your official wife. You will not be able to run out like you ran in. All the makaba dance she does to you on bed will wind up. You will face reality. I think for now, you're in dreamland. The older singletons are typically vulnerable and will do anything to satisfy you. You can marry someone older up to 6 years. Anything more is really a deceit from one of you. But hey, people are different. She may be genuine, but dont expect it to be rosy for ever. |
Like someone already said, no matter how hard it is, those who will make it here will make it big. I am another hustling student here in UK. It is hard, but I believe if you're on the right course and you keep your heads down, you will succeed here and break through to the top. UK is not like Yankee or any other place. Here, they pride hard work. In UK, you hardly hit it big instantly. You have to start from the begining. The UK awards excellence, and you can quote me on this anywhere. What happens to many Nigerians is that we lose our steam on getting here and we blow average. The crux of the matter is that you have to be extra-ordinary to break into the proper UK job market. I will like to know how many people here on NL got 1st class in a proper course and didnt get an offer on graduation. I'm just curious. 4 of my friends got job offers from big construstion firms on the day they came to sign off from the uni. I think being in a top uni also helps. If you do not get a job, at least you're likely to get a research offer especially those in science and engineering. The prospects are big if you're on the right course, in the right place, with the right atitude and self discipline. For two years in a row, I can say 80% of Nigerians who finished from my uni are doing great. A good proportion are on paid PHD, while a few have been 'snapped' up by top UK companies. Perhaps we need to stop going to the South Banks and the UELs and actually work harder to get into the LSEs and Imperials if Ox-Bridge wont take us. |
If by Mallam, you refer to the Hausa-Fulani as brainless, then you, sir, are really brainless. It is opinion like yours that cloud our judgements and allow us make silly estimations. Whoever told you 'mallams' are brainless is actually the brainless one. They have sophistication just like us. They may have more kids roaming the streets, but they match us(Southerners) up there in many ways. Hausa-Fulani man is brilliant, intelligent and compassionate. I know this because I have lived with the typical examples. They may have issues with us southerners, but they never let it becloud their judgements. |
There is already a Yoruba nation. Only the politically blind will fail to see it. We do not need to rush up a new currency, or break away from Nigeria to claim a Yoruba nation. We are one and the most united in Nigeria. We all have Awo to thank for this. In those days they called it being in the opposition, now it is dawning on folks that the FEDERAL wont work. Soon the people of Kwara and Kogi states will start singing ' A N RE WEST' (we're going west to join our brothers). It is simple mathematics. Yorubas have been trained over the years to always do things right and do it in a diplomatic way. Our elders are the best in the following schools of thought: LAYIPO (SWIFT UTURN, others call it betrayal, I call it grand masterstroke), OYO MESI (Oyo knows the reply, but wont talk), FORO SIKUN( swallow the words, perhaps in hot times and come back to say it when it will matter). Ribadu learn of the LAYIPO part, Nigerian government will learn the rest. Mark this down everybody, the new ACN government is not just play play in the SW. It is liberation time and they want to move SW faster than Nigeria. While Nigeria is taddy in giving free education to all, SW has been doing for ages. Free health? come to Ibadan (UCH) next month, Water? go to Oshogbo, Welcome to Yoruba Nation. |
'Iku tin p'ojugba eni, owe nla lo n pa fun ni' . The death of your associate is telling you a strong proverb. Libya's situation should concern us as a whole. The scenario is just like Nigeria, only difference is that we have a puppet leader unlike Libya's strong man. Libya: rich oil country, stable, peaceful, and citizens living a good life. Then came the 'humanitarian brigade': They came to protect civilians with bombs. Blow up a few of Libya's miltary structure and render their airforce incapable. Blow up a few houses, kill a few women, men and kids, yet blame it on Ghadafi. Whenever I hear BBC reports on the Libyan crises I laugh. It is so obviously biased and sometimes takes the urine. The BBC carefully choses words to suit its government's propaganda. 'Rebel forces' 'Pro-democracy activists' 'UK sends its intelligence officers to help the rebels'. Bottomline is this: UK, France, and USA are only out for Libya's oil.Simple. They will do thesame to Nigeria tomorow if we get a president with balls who flushes away the foreigners who steal our oil and puts honest Nigerians in place. USA will not hessitate to blow up Abuja the minute its oil inflow is threatened. Think well brothers. |
Osun, Oyo, Ekiti I know about. Oyo will see developments and little media celebrations. Same thing Lam Adesina did in 1999-2003. More roads, more farm settlements, more low cost housing estates, perhaps in unaccessible parts of the state. Realistic governance, tell people as it is. I remember Lam Adeshina's famous 'awo o kaju'lu' phrase (meaning the leather is not enough to cover the diameter of the drum). People are hard to please, but I believe Isiaka Ajimobi will do better. Osun I am very confident of the man due to his antecedence in Lagos. Ekiti has a realistic governor who I believe has the love of his people in mind. However, I am not sure the federal government will release as much money as it did to the previous governors to these ACN people. PDP will try to frustrate them like they did to the Lams and Akandes. |
@ Poster, your man hasnt done anything wrong. He saw fried fish and smelt it. He didnt get into a relationship with her, he only did touch and go. If I were him, I wont beg for long. At this level of your relationship, you should be matured enough to differentiate good from bad. He obviously loves you and has chosen you out of the millions who are still single and searching. He has given you statement of intent, so it is left to you to respect yourself and not overdo things. Accept his pleas before the Cossychested girl starts making him addicted to bobbycology. You should understand men for what we are: MEN |
1st experience was at BHC Abuja in 2005. I wasnt in anyway nervous, I didnt really know what to expect then. I had to wait for close to 3 hours sitting on the chair waiting for my name to be called. Many people went in, some came out with smiles, others frowned. I was indifferent. I just wanted to get done with it and go back home. I was still a student in OAU then and was enjoying it, so a Uk visa was going to be a bonus and not a biggie. Got interviewed by a lady close to her 50s. She was calm, I was calm. She went through my visa application form and asked me few questions. She asked if i filled it in myself and I answered negative. She then said she would terminate the interview process as I was not in the position to answer her questions. I responded that it will be silly to do such as the form was only submitted after my approval. She went ahead and asked me for some answers as it was in the form and I fully answered her. E.g my dad's job, mum's maiden name, etc. She went out for 5 mins, placed phone calls to some people, and came back to say I will be granted visa. I asked for my passport and she said I should go out and wait. While waiting, some plain clothes policemen came and arrested a guy for fake documents. I got my visa with the 1st batch of people on that day. Left the embassy around 12:30pm looking forward to a life in UK. So far, so learning. So far, so wishing Nigeria can get better and I go back home after my PHD. Off topic: do people in UK academia not notice that Nigerians surpass the average British student in many ways? |
abeg pay the fine and keep it moving. you get time sef. you wan go court for train ticket wahala ?
