As it may seem, jonathan coming up with fresh tactics to hunt his political rivals, a manifestation of one of obasanjo's fear in his 18 page letter to jonathan goodluck. mind u, a yoruba adage says when u dig trench as a trap for ur enemies, don't make it too deep for u might end up with ur friends being trap, and that might just not be enough for ur understanding but it will suffice enough to understand that what goes around comes around, only God reigns forever, it is just a matter of time for power to change with man and when that time comes, hope u won't start crying fowl for being punish with the weapon u fashion when u were in power. Anyway, it is for the good of the common man when these self-centered leaders are destroyed by their own greed, but how better it would seem if such can be made retroactive so that the like of fayose and omisore are made to benefit from it |

A group of Igbo community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja under the aegis of Goodluck Gaa N’iru (Goodluck move forward) has demanded for the Lagos State deputy governor’s slot in the 2015 elections in the state. The demand was contained in a communique issued at the maiden National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the group held yesterday in Abuja at their national office. It was jointly signed by Kenneth Ibe-Kalu Onyeisi Gburugburu, Chief Boniface Orji, Rev Chukwuemeka Ezenagu, Owelle Isaac Oduma, Barr Chima Duru, Joseph Ebinim, Rev Dr Andrew Ubah, Chief Ofoegbu Nwachukwu, Arch Bishop R. B. C. Nwankwo, Chief Anayo Arinze and Prof. Matthias Egwuka who are the geo-political zones and principal officers of the group. “In view of the overwhelming population of Igbo in Lagos, estimated at over 45 percent of the state population figures, the unsurpassed positive contributions to the economic and general development of Lagos State, we demand the position of Deputy Governor come 2015 elections in Lagos State and advise the PDP leadership to get a reputable Igbo son or daughter for the position of Deputy Governor. We believe this would be the winning strategy in the next gubernatorial elections,” the communique said. They also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for maintaining the unity of Nigeria despite increasing challenges, distractions and mischief against his transformation agenda. While commending the Federal Government for the completion of Onitsha Sea Port, the group asked for its speedy concession, to enhance its quick full operation. They also urged the federal government to evolve new policy measures targeted at promoting local industries and discouraging importation of certain categories of foreign products. http://dailytrust.com.ng/sunday/index.php/news/18122-2015-igbo-demand-lagos-deputy-gov-s-slot |

davo3286: Also ensure that your HVAC is functional and know the proper way to use it, as in the controls on your dash. Funny enough most people don't know how to use these controls. Most times during the rain I see people (i'm not talking about KabuKabu drivers o. I mean normal private drivers with good clean cars) drive with their car windows looking all foggy, blurred and misty so to speak. Some will use towel to wipe the inside glass as they drive which is even unsafe. So, I begin to wonder whether their HVAC system is not working or they just don't know how to use it.Add ke? Gun shots caused panic around Wuse Zone 5 at the Headquarters of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Abuja, Friday morning. Daily Trust gathered that the shooting happened following a clash between men of the Nigerian Police Force and officers of the Civil Defence Corps. The spokesman of the Corps, Emmanuel Okey who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, said trouble started when officer of the Corps stopped a police officer from crossing the road at the moment the Commandant General of the Corps convoy was leaving the office. He narrated that the Civil Defence officers blocked the Police man from passing, forcing him to wait for the Commandant to pass, which irritated the police officer. Okey said after the Commandant’s convoy passed, a Civil Defence Officer approached the angry police man to explain that it was customary for uniformed personnel to accord senior officers such courtesy. Apparently, the Police officer was inconsolable, and following an argument removed the civil defence officer’s headdress and punched him in the face before other civil defence officials, Okey noted. As the shoving and fist cuffs continued other police men appeared at the scene and several gun shots were heard in the area. However nobody was shot, Okey said. When contacted, the spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command Hyelhira Daniel said the police did not attack the Headquarters of the Civil Defence Corps as is being insinuated. Daniel said the Police Inspector involved in the fight was returning from a restaurant when Civil Defence Officers ordered him to stop for their Commandants convoy to pass. She said the inspector stepped aside, however the Civil Defence officers were not satisfied and attacked the police inspector after the Commandant’s convoy passed. When other police men who were passing by came to the scene, one of them shot in the air. Daniel noted that it was not an attack and that the incident is being exaggerated. She called for calm and cooperation among security agencies. http://dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/33667-gun-shots-as-police-civil-defence-clash |
The army cannot be blamed. They have put their lives on the line all this while with less sophisticated equipment than the insurgents. They have never been rightly motivated and the leaders are comfortably doing nothing about it. If I were a soldier, would have blown AWOL long ago. Shame on the so called irresponsive and irresponsible leaders. |

The Special Fraud Unit (SFU) of the Nigerian Police yesterday charged a special assistant to former Defence Minister, Lt. Gen. T. Y. Danjuma (rtd), Mr. Manasseh Obadiah Zorto, before a Lagos federal high court for allegedly defrauding his boss to the tune of about N2 billion. The accused, who was said to be on the run, could not be arraigned before Justice Okon Abang on Friday. When the matter came up, SFU lawyer, Chief Godwin Obla (SAN), told the court that the police were having challenges in bringing the accused to court. He said at the appropriate time, the police would apply for bench warrant for the arrest of the accused, but that the court should give the police more time to arrest him. “My lord, we are in court today so as not to allow the matter to be unattended to. We humbly pray the court to grant us more time to bring the accused to court for arraignment,” Obla said. “For now, we don’t want to apply for bench warrant but we will make more efforts to arrest the accused,” he added. Justice Abang consequently fixed October 2 for arraignment. According to the charge marked FHC/L/221C/14, the accused was said to have fraudulently used his position as an employee of Tita-Kuru Petrochemicals Ltd, T.Y Holdings Ltd and Central Realities Ltd, all companies linked to Danjuma, to steal about N2 billion from the firms. Zorto was said to have used his position as executive director and special assistant, finance and investment to the chairman of the companies (Danjuma) to perpetrate the alleged fraud. In the 19-count charge filed by the SFU, the accused was said to have defrauded the companies about N1.6 billion and $121, 468. http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/weekly/index.php/new-news/17512-gen-danjuma-s-loses-n2bn-to-fraudulent-employee |
The Federal Government has lifted the suspension of Residency Training Programme in all federal hospitals with effect from Thursday, August 28, 2014 while the ongoing appraisal of the programme continues. A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kaduna State, Batch B, yesterday refused to stand for the national anthem, an action which displeased Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero. The incident occurred at the end of the closing ceremony of the 2014 Batch B’ orientation course at the NYSC camp. Our correspondent reports that the governor left the podium where he was addressing the youths to fish out the member, but was unable to find him as he had “disappeared”. The governor then directed the state NYSC director, Hillary Nasamu, to present the corps member for ques-tioning, but he was also unable to find the culprit. The governor expressed disappoint-ment over the incident. http://dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/32782-corps-member-causes-stir-over-refusal-to-stand-for-national-anthem |
