They are somewhat mean/wicked and sell their property anyhow.. An ikwerre can sell his last property and become a tenant. Ikwerre people hardly go to school.. They are known for selling lands and refusing to go to school. Their women nko... They can't stay in marriage
An ikwerre landlord will be asking for rent when your rent has not expired.. If an ikwerre landlord doesn't have a car, don't buy or drive a car as his tenant
My landlord is Igbo and he's a million times worse than the Ikwerre ones. You Igbos hate Ikwerres so much just because we don't want to be with you guys. Una wan claim everywhere. Na by force to become Igbos?

England weather na confirm filter abeg.
So na like these this guy dey?
Bukayo has always looked his original dark self on screen. The belief by Nigerians that the weather in civilized countries automatically lightens our skin is false and birthed out of inferiority complex. Nigerians believe that our sunny weather is the reason we have dark skins even when it's proven that over 70% of Nigerians are naturally dark skinned and only get lightened by bleaching elements.

Your skin colour is in your gene. Every black don't have the same skin tone. Some are darker and some lighter.

See how dark American stars like Viola Davis, 50 Cent and others are. Yet Nigerians believe the weather over there will make them fair

As Nigerians, we are so used to suffering that sweating under hot sun is the only thing we see as hardwork. Nigerians don't think bankers are hardworking. Lol

abysirius:
Those are the people shooting movies good enough to be in our cinemas or any of the 2 major streaming platforms in Nigeria (Netflix & Prime Video). All those Nollywood movies where stories are being recycled are stale and outdated. Same stories that Ramsey and Genevive played some 2 decades ago are what majority of them are still doing in 2023. Where is the originality? Check the movies that were nominated.. Not the usual home videos.
It's like that in Hollywood, too. There are only many ways to tell one story. It's just that Nollywood is too lazy to take different directions with one story so they don't come out exactly the same. Nollywood isn't even large, and that's why they keep using the same faces. I can count how many star actors we have. There are only about five directors working in this new Lekki Nollywood, so, they tell same stories over and over.

Somehow, I feel like Africa needs to come together and form one movie industry. Our different film industries aren't large or creative enough
TV/Movies › Re: I Like How When It Comes To The AMVCA Awards, They Always Ignore Asabawood Actor by Olodo24: 7:55pm On May 21, 2023
Asabawood is one major segment of Africa Magic that generates enough money for the company. So it's not totally fair to ignore them when it comes to awards

I am no Tobi's Fan But if we are to go by Facial expression no Nigeria actor or actresses will fit into that Category of being able to act except few like Ibrahim Chatta, Blossom Chukwujekwu, this Guy that Acted as the Driver of that Mass Transit Bus in Soole,He also acted in Before Valentine Can't recall His name,Lateef Dimeji and Sometimes Toyin Aimakhu infact Ibrahim Chattah has so many Facial expression and Gesticulation that He Can fit into any role, Don't know why He has never been nominated nor awarded maybe bcs He is a Yoruba movie actor.
This other Igbo Guy that Acted in "Soole" as the Driver He also acted in Living in Bondage remake even His Facial expression alone will mk u Laugh 😂😂 even though the Soole wasn't really a Comic Movie I was even Surprised He Could Act that that role thought He is only good in Mumu Lover Boys Role,Only Mr Ibu Could Come Close to Him in Facial expression that is why He(Mr Ibu) is good in Comic Nollywood movies.

Nigerian Actors aren't good in Facial Gesticulation at all except Late Baba Sala and Baba Suwe which were both Comic Actors, Even the So Called Funke Akindele and Odunlade that People always say they are Good artist has 0 Facial expressions
Genevieve Nnaji has the best silent facial expressions in Nollywood. You can always tell what's happening just from the look on her face. This is one area that gives her the edge over her peers. The others are either overdoing it or just being borderline confused. Genevieve has this touch of amazing subtlety to her performances. That's not to say that she's the only good actor in the industry cos we have many others that are good, too.

Nollywood's biggest problem now is their obsession with Instagram celebrities and skit makers. I feel like slapping Broda Shaggi any time I see him in a movie. Broda Shaggi, Falz, Nancy Isime, Tobi Bakre, Mercy Eke, Bovi.....these are all manufactured actors.

But Tobi can be really good with the right script and direction. These wannabe James Bond scripts aren't helping shape his potentials, they're just giving him more fame because they're mass appealing.

Falz is still unbelievable. Despite having a serious role in Brotherhood, he still appeared funny to me like he was forcing it. His accent and voice feel kinda off.

I was watching Diane and Omawunmi for the first time and they were good. They need bigger opportunities.

Basketmouth, OC Ukeje and Toni Tones gave the best performances in Brotherhood.

I really don't understand why Nollywood operates on trends. Few years ago it was them producing only comedy films with big party scenes that gets chaotic, now it's action.

TV/Movies › Re: Tobi Bakre Wins AMVCA Best Actor In A Drama, Movie Or Tv Series by Olodo24: 1:13pm On May 21, 2023
Broveens42:
Exactly.
The organizers are a reflection of mediocrity bedeviling the movie industry in Nigeria. They don't understand what theatric is all about.

The prospective winner in any movie ( usually lead actors) should not only interprete it's specific roles well, but should reflect the entire movie. (Directors of movies help a lot in this regard) so it's like a team work.
I'll give examples;
* at scene 1 of the trade, blossom was being chased by kidnappers, but was caught, he did two guess works by asking the guys if they worked for X (no reply) , he then cracked the code for another name, which he got.
That scene 1 already gave an incite of the entire movie, of a 'trade' run by different cartels
* The movie producers told us it was based on real life events, and the lead actor didn't disappoint at the final scene too by remaining calm, when he was being surrounded by special forces(you could feel adrenaline on his face )
Blossom's final moment was truly a masterclass acting. You could see the pain, guilt and regret on his face. He was incredible the whole time. Acting isn't just about reading cheap lines and putting up a hit face. Blossom was great in this. The lady that plays his mistress deserves some love too

You are right. No one in that category deserve the award more than Blossom. He killed his role in the Trade.
I don't know how Tobi won. How? Damn it. I lost interest once the award was given to him.
I think henceforth, this award should be left for professionals to do the voting just like football.
Nigerians love bandwagon. They worship popular movies with mass appeal. Tobi didn't even deserve the nomination if we're being honest cos he didn't even give the best performance in his film. Basketmouth, Sam Dede, OC Ukeje and Toni Tones left him in the dark. He was only better than Falz (I still don't buy him as an actor) and Dorathy. Dude was just the same the entire time with his forced charisma reading some poorly written lines. I think I'm the only person who doesn't believe his hype.

Chidi and Blossom were the deserving ones here. Blossom's final moment alone is better than everything Tobi did in Brotherhood.

The point of this show is the creation of cheap celebrities which companies can pay small amounts to promote products. It’s good since A-level Nollywood stars seem to forget their replaceability. Now, throwing most of them into Nollywood is a major downside. They can not act. They are in movies and TV shows because they are physically appealing to the eyes. I remember Tayo disgracing his lineage on Tinsel. I read on Nairaland that Tobi Bakre is a good actor. Well, good for him. I will not watch Nigerian movies unless produced or directed by Kunle Afolayan.
Tobi Bakre can't act. They're hailing him because he's in the kind of movies they love. His face has no expression whatsoever. He's just wooden
Celebrities › Re: 12 Big Brother Naija Housemates That Are Now Nollywood Actors And Actresses by Olodo24: 2:57pm On May 20, 2023
They need to stop casting Dorathy though. Babe can't act her way out of a paper bag. She was the weakest link in Brotherhood. She has no business being in movies.

I'm still of the opinion that Tobi Bakre has some talent, but he isn't a good actor. He can't emote. He just reads his lines like one-way traffick. Chike out acted him in Gangs of Lagos while Oc Ukeje and Bright Okpocha aka Basket Mouth made him look like a statue in Brotherhood. Even Diane did way better. He's just getting buzz because of his sex appeal and the entertainment value of his films.

Mercy Eke seems to have improved based on Shanty Town. She was way better than that manufactured Nancy Isime.

Gideon Okeke and Bisola are the best. They need more, bigger and better opportunities.

so you "supposedly" wake up next to a dead body, you then find your son hiding under the bed telling you that HE did it, yet you do nothing about it and continue your day as if nothing had happened?!?
it's not easy to report such a case like you're thinking. Till it happens to you, you won't know how it feels.
