The fact that he's worried about these things already shows he'll make a good father and husband.

Caring enough to make an effort is all it takes.

Tell him he'll be fine.
many thanks to you

It can be very difficult growing up in an unloving or uncaring family setting. I know what my family means to me and to have them not care for me will be a disaster.

However, your friend will need to make determined personal efforts to help himself. His parents not being there for him would not make him unable to show parental love. And for those that complained of him being cold. I don't know how cold cold is. But if a relationship is a serious one then a partner is supposed to help d other to become better.

Did he inform them of his background?

A poster talked about city girls and rural girls. Sounds funny to me. Its all about individual and not where u grew up or are located.

Goodluck
Thanks so much for this......it will go a long way i'm sure...

He is a reserve fellow. he rarely talk s about his past or background to people except we that have known him from childhood.

That why i advice against away match. Some parents ehn they are messed up.
Back to tha topic, he has to spend some time in a family house setting. Probably his relatives or a friend. Secondly he has to get married to a very good homely lady. A lady that understands the virtues of motherhood and taking care of her home. So he has to avoid the city ladies or open eye babes in nairaland, and search for the reserved up and doing lady from a rural setting. Am talking from experience ooh cos very few city ladies make good wifes.
Furthermore he has to change that notion of baby mama drama, let him think positively about life. And Lastly, Marriage is not by force, baby mama is not by force either, enjoy yiur single life, adopt a kid and die.. Afterall no one lives more than 90 something these days, so why should we carry life matter ontop our head like agege bread
Well said brother...i hope he's seeing this.......thanks

My Friend just confided in me the real reason he has been avoiding and evading any discussion that has to do with marital affairs.

This guy is a very handsome dude and a jovial kind of being. I noticed that since I've known him that he hasn't keep any relationship beyond 4 months. I used to brushed this off with the reason that my friend must be a playboy until yesterday evening when he opened up to me because of his 'High' state grin

He told me he was born out of wedlock and he was taken from his mother when he was just a year plus (as he was told) to be living with his paternal Grandmother. The Grandparents were farmers and they have little or no time to attend to his mental developments.

He told me that doesn't remember any bit about any 'reasonable' time spent with his real dad or mom before he lost them at his teens age.

Now to cut the story short, he said he couldn't bring himself to understand what a Parental care or love is. He doesn't know anything about family setup because the people he lived with in his early age were farmer that start their daily routine of farming as early as 6am and ends it around 6pm which hindered them from showing him that love or care he craves for.

The fear in his mind now is how he's gonna be relating with any woman he marry? How do families relate together? What does it takes to be a loving, caring and responsible father? Mind you these are what he couldn't get as a person to the extent that he has been finding it difficult to hold any lady down cos they used to complained that he is too cold. and he told me he is trying his possible best to be romantic.

He told me that he don't wanna be like his father or mother. He don't wanna fail his own family.

Dear Nairalanders, Please my guy needs mature advise cos he told me that he is contemplating impregnating any lady and accept the kid and not the mother. I told him he is on the way to creating another version of him.

Please Your Advise and counseling might save a traumatised fellow.

Mods.....please move this to front page for my guy sake....he is also a Nairalander and might see this. thanks

Aarinola was so fragile and beautiful. We were in Jss 1 and I couldn't get her outta my head. sent her a well composed love letter. She replied me with one simple statement "ooo serious" and I replied her with Robert Schuller's quote which says 'Great people are ordinary people with extra ordinary amount of determination'
She fell for me and we got it rolling till I became a very good bad boy in Jss3.
Still loves her though but her mum is now kinda my wife Literally. this made the continuation a mission impossible.
Aarinola my Jerrycurl baby..........Faweli still loves and misses you damn much.

FamilyRe: Why You Shouldn't Marry A Lady Raised By A Single Parent by Oloniyan(m): 6:39pm On Sep 26, 2016
CuteMorriz:
I am not saying ladies raised by single parents are all bad, you may get lucky finding some exceptional ladies raised by single mums. Evidently you seldom find single men raising a child but it's quite prevalent with the opposite sex.

A relation of mine was dating this lady and when the time came for the union to be made official, his parents advised him to discontinue becos after they had made enquiries and investigation they discovered the lady's mother left her husband many years ago over some frivolous reasons. Then I asked my uncle why did he side with family and not allow his son take the bold step then he said:

1. Women raised by single parent (mother) are usually strong willed hence may end up like their mother.

2. A lady who has seen no need for a father will be swift to end a union because she will have the courage to train her children alone afterall she was raised by a mum.

3. How will she get marital advice from her mum when things are tough and you know ladies often run to their mum when they need advice (remember the mother took the easy way out)

4. Sooner or later my son may become a bachelor again...the odd is high and is glaring..

5. A lady who have spent 21 years of her life without a father cannot be psychologically stable even if she appears to be.

6. Ladies raised by single parents did not experience the beautiful and ugly part of the union called marriage from her parents hence they don't have their parents as their role model.

7. Amin (as he fondly calls me) when the baton gets to you, look at the mother of your fiancèe closely because with time she will display those traits you observed in the mother......

Then I asked him what if the lady's father is dead and the mum decided to train her alone?...my uncle said we may also enquire about the untimely death of the father but "Amin that is a topic for another day"......
@ the op
You wouldn't understand the trauma of those children. Though some of you point are accurate but believe me it takes a strong individual in that circumstance to value parental care or love.
Take mine as an emphasis, I'm scared of getting married not because of the monetary aspects but because I don't know what a parental love is and I don't know how to show such.
My spouse is trying really hard to let me see the bright side of it but hell! How do I show love to her talk less of the kidshuh
How do parents relateshuh
What does it take to have a loving family or what does it take to be a better manhuh
We have been single from inception and it will take lots of work to take our feet of the pedal.
But on the other side we are the most caring and loving people you will ever met cos we don't want our kids to experience what we've been through.

Chapter Four - V (Continued)

The old man sighed. “I’m not surprised you didn’t listen to me. When I was about your age, I, too, met a miserable old man who advised me about my future. I didn’t listen to him. I thought that, no matter what, I would never be like that man. That day suddenly seems like yesterday, but here I am today.” He shrugged sadly, “Anyway, if you’ve made up your mind to follow the same path that destroyed me, the least I can do is teach you some rules of gambling.”

"Rules?”

“Yes, without these rules, you will lose more than win. Experience had thought me these run, I wish I had been wise enough to apply them, but they’re useless to me now. I’m too old to apply any rules for myself, I can only pass them on and hope the person uses them wisely. I want to give you because you seem like a worthy person to have them. Maybe with these rules, you would end up becoming someone who succeeds greatly in gambling.”

“What’s the first rule of gambling?”
Reminds me of Kenny Rogers' song THE GAMBLER

He said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy
You gotta learn to play it right

You've got to know when to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
Know when to run
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done

Every gambler knows
That the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away
And knowin' what to keep
'Cause every hand's a winner
And every hand's a loser
And the best that you can hope for
Is to die in your sleep"

Does it ring a bellhuh
