PoliticsRe: Jonathan May Run For African Union Chairperson by olubuffett: 2:10am On Jan 29, 2012
oiseworld:
you are wrong there, with him being the AU chairperson he has a chance of controlling the arm movement from northern africa to Nigeria. he could cut off armo supplies from gboko haram. its doom for them

take it or leave it.
Come on lets be pragmatic here, if he can not control the movement of arms in his own country, smuggling of petroleum product out of the country, how would he be able to control arms movement from Northern Africa? you are forgetting arms sale is big business manufactures, middle men don't care where its going.

To my best understanding of happenings in Nigeria,I think running for AU chairmanship is going to compound our woe as more oversight responsibilities even africa security will be inter alia among other challenges.
He should put his house in order before aspiring for the office
Most of the problems in Nigeria requires a common sense approach; unfortunately you are thinking the leaders have common sense,
they pickup their phd cert and forget common sense at the gate of the uni.

^^^ @ Oga Rastaman20, long time?
Really every house is unique and I like to see it as very different from the other. Depending on what the area presents, that how I formulate solutions to every problem. In Lagos if you do what am doing now, it may fail, whyhuh The soil!!!

The sandy nature of Lagos grounds will make improper foundations sink into the ground, and most times you consider raft arrangement because of their soil nature. But with the stones of Enugu, you are building on top of solid rock.
Na him be se the man way build house on solid rock in the bible na Enugu he build am! grin grin wink

Anybody screaming war and disintegration is likely a poor man. Jonathan himself would not want Nigeria disintegrated just like Abagworo.
you are very correct, am yet to hear rich men/women scream for war and disintegration.

These past leaders all belong to the say party with the sitting president; can't they gather together and call GEJ to a meeting instead of talking from afar?

I'm looking to buy at 70% completion and finish it to my taste. What do you think about that?
It's a good idea, you get to buy finishing materials that you want not want someone think is best and also reduce the burden and hassle of building.
PropertiesRe: Build A New House Vs Buy A New House by olubuffett: 3:43am On Jan 09, 2012
Fhemmmy:
For sure buying a New House for so many reasons:

1. Have no clue what kinda voodoo has been buried into the foundation of the house that is to be SOLD
2. The house for sure wont be 100% to my taste and that of my family
3. It is a house that i wanna sleep in and own for a long time, so i rather spend time to do it my way
4. Buying a home take away the fun of going to the site and just spend time with the builder while i see the process of making it happen and with some pictures.
Am sure you meant building from the above list.

Spyder,
Building; except if the developer carries me along with the propose new build, and to my specification.

Happy New-year All. May this year be a year of greater things, new heights.

sypder! what happens when you have like 10-15 different projects with similarities? You and I know that update and feedback to your clients will be done on a personal level not NL, issue that might not be discussed here will arise. I still say let projects with similarities stay together.

I just concluded terms with another client for the building of another huge duplex in Enugu. I have his permission to display the works here on nairaland. Thread opening soon, actual excavation to kickstart on the 2nd of January 2012. We want this one fast. Land condition is challenging, uneven surface, hilly at one point with valley at the other side, stony land. But with good building practices, all these obstacles will be easily surmounted.
Sypder,(lord Mayor of Enugu the first) wink

Congrats! I don talk se 2012 will be a great year for us all.
Why not use the other trend with the 5 bedroom, just use a different colour or font so we know which one you are referring to.

@Tripodent

In situation like these i did advice you to park your load and walk away, being caught up in a messy divorce is not funny and telling them if they don't settle their differences is not your prerogative. while you still have your rent, pay the few months or weeks arrears with a cheque, how they are going to cash it is up to them. Walk away man.
I am bit confused? What exactly shud I do? I guess its not right to use only the builder and making him to be in charge of workers, rate, buying materials and being supervisor.

And I don't want any problem with my family, inlaws and builder. This is scaring!!
@Favour me
Like barus said be very very,  careful families, inlaws, outlaws just might not take care of your project like you will do, speaking from experience I will suggest two things

1. give your project to a contractor where contract will be signed.
2.  if you are going to do diy ask your brother to collect mobile numbers, bank accounts details of local suppliers of cements, blocks and sand  etc, you can always monitor prices your self and when you decide to buy ask your brother to call them and negotiate, they can delivery to your site without your builder being involved ( do not call using overseas num), trying  to call the shot from where ever you are is not the same thing as being on ground. employ an engineer who understand drawing or someone with passion able experience, that can foresee mistakes and errors in the making. Ask your brother to visit the site anytime is free, lastly give little rooms for the boys to chop something, know that not all materials can be purchased by you builder or engineer will have to purchase some. May u find favour while building.
