The development of ASAT (Anti Satellite fir Strategic and Tactical) started way back in 1950. The cold war led to the development of Anti Satelite capability.

The USSR successful test it's Anti-Satelite in 1982. While the US successful test it's own in January 1984. China did it 2007 and India in 2019.

In addition, the US F-15 eagle can take out low flying satelite. Likewise the Russian Mig-31.

Russia has sophisticated fighter jets, missiles and classy military equipments but preferred to deploy thousands of troops with tanks and old fighter jet; SU 27 and helicopters without anti air craft covers. Even S 400 was not used in war with Ukraine.

Why this extreme military doctrine?

Some people believe that Russia considered that NATO might decides to join the war and other neighbors might decide to join NATO which means no need to wast expensive equipment on Ukraine when other enemies are still hiding.

US joined second world war when Germany had exhausted her military might on Europe serving as advantage for US who joined the war later. US might wants to use the same tactics against Russia using Ukraine as proxy.

This is not entirely true. Although, the Russians are using mainly old fighter jets like SU-25 & SU-27. But their ground troops are being protected by some of the best helicopters in the world the KA-52 & MI-28.

The Russian ground troops are being protected by S-300 & Pantsir defence systems.

Lastly, this is a modern war. It can be very expensive. The more high tech military equipments you use, the more expensive the war will be. So Russia is wary of the cost. Also, in a modern war people die quickly. Imagine more than 10 thousand soldiers have died on the sides in less than two months.

We saw Ukraine use artillery to destroy a Russian forward deployment base at a captured airport. The damage was such that Russian helicopter gunships and tanks were totally destroyed.
About that convoy , the made a juicy target for artillery . Guaranteeing that no single shell will miss. Once the Russians realized there foolishness, they tried breaking it up -which only left many of them open to attacks.

that miles long convoy was mauled by small Ukrainian teams using anti armour weapons. They proved so effective that the convoy had to be broke up and then Ukrainian Turkish drones began to hunt them in mass.

We seem to forget that Ukraine has the intelligence and experience of USA and Nato countries at it's disposal.

The convoy was not meant to stay together. They were meant to split up and try to encircle Kiev. So they didn't split up because of the air attack.

Drone attack can not be effective against such convoy. It is too long. You need helicopter gunship & fighter jets to destroy such convoy effectively. The Ukraine were able to destroy few vehicles with their drones and some of the drones were shot down.

They retreated after the talk in Turkey, where Russia told the world that it's troops in Kiev will leave to city. I could remember when the US and Ukraine officials said they don't trust the Russians. But to my surprise Russian troops started leaving Kiev and the media change the story. They said Ukrainian troops have started forcing the Russia troops out of the city.

Russia completely wiped out Ukraine's air defense capability in the first week of the war. That's why you see Ukraine depending on hand-launched air defense bought from NATO. Russia can avoid these missiles for most part by flying high up and using precision munitions instead, but they'd be likelier to miss their targets.

There is no account that Russia deployed any s300 or s400 into Ukraine and not a single photo of any captured ones. They are all deployed inside Russia and Belarus from where they fire into Ukraine. You should note that the s300 only needs to cover where Russia is operating (and the areas around them) and not the entire Ukrainian airspace.

And about NATO feeding info to Ukraine, Russia and US don't even use the same wall plug, which is a basic technology, so how do you think NATO radars would work with a s300 and guide it towards a target?

A basic s300 has two radar vehicles. Let's call them radar 1 and 2. Radar 1 finds the target and radar 2 directs the missile to the target.

Radar 1 then return to making 360 turns looking for more targets while radar 2 remains fixed, facing the target until the s300 destroys it.

This is why radar 2 is always the first to be destroyed in an attack. While NATO may find a way to replace/workaround radar 1 with their own systems (which would be hell difficult or even impossible), there's no way they can replace radar 2 since the radar is configured for the missile.

Remember the the very long Russian convoy that was stagnant for weeks at the Kiev door step. There is possible that the convoy was under the protection of S-300 & Pantsir defense systems.

Although, S--300 can provide cover for the convoy from a far. It has the range.

I think the Ukrainians capture some Pantsir defence systems. I don't think they capture any S-300. Even if they did, it will be the Launchers and not the radar.

The radar of a defense system is the eye of the system, without the radar the Launchers are useless.

Before the invasion of Iraq, the US placed arms embargo on Iraq, to make sure the country is unable to rearm and then placed economic sanctions on the country, to make it difficult for Iraq to fund the war with the US.

After Iraq has already been defeated with arms embargo and economic sanctions. The US invaded the country with it's troops.

Then the UK and German troops too were sent to Iraq. Some Arab fighters in thousands were also used.

Despite the well lay down strategic, the US lost a lots of it's aircraft and troops. The Iraqis and the Afghans don't have sophisticated weapon like the Stingers, Javelins, Turkish drones, S-300 e.t.c. But they were able to take down aircrafts with RPG and the very old soviet era defense system & also they were able to destroy tanks with land mines and RPG.

The US has learnt one lesson. The guys in sanders with their AK-47 can cause a serious damage to any military super power.

Now to Russia-Ukraine war. Ukraine is getting mercenaries and weapon from the West. Russia is being sanctioned day in day out. Infact there is a report that there are some high profile Western military men in Mariopul. Ukraine has sent several helicopters to move them away from the Zone, but the Russia is preventing the rescue mission from happening. Several helicopters have been shot down.

China is not in a position to help Russia militarily. China imports weapon from Russia not vice versa. They can help Russia to reduce the impact of the sanctions.

No military is invincible. If the US finds herself in Russian shoes. Sh will experience the same thing.

No country in Europe can survive the economic sanctions. Let alone funding a war despite the sanctions. The Russians are very brave. All the Russian demand will be met. The longer the war goes the harder it will be for Ukraine to de-militarise the non-military elements (civilians) after the war. It may even be impossible.
