People don't read but just hurry to criticize as if they're getting a cheque for it. If you read the story you'll see so much sincerity coming from the new governor who just came in February and inherited this horrible mess. I'm beginning to like him after reading this, compared to that "youth governor" they call Yahaya Bello. “I know it is not easy but it is also getting increasingly difficult for the government, too, but whatever we do, we will try not to owe salaries,” the governor said. SaharaReporters learned that the governor has paid three months’ salaries - February, March and April - to the government workers of the state. Our correspondent reported that Mr. Akeredolu has also paid one out of six months’ outstanding salaries owed to the workers by the immediate past governor, Olusegun Mimiko. |
"I am into this struggle because of leadership vacuum. I am into this struggle because my people are suffering; they are being denied their rights and privileges and nothing will stop this fight. I want to assure our people that we are almost there." See bobo. Just in 2013 we saw a YouTube video of you protesting as a Pro-Nigerian activist at our UK embassy that Nigeria must remain a strong united country. Fast forward to 2015, Nigeria has become a zoo so you can fool your gullible followers and make money from them. I get surprised how foolish some Nigerians can be when sentiments are whipped up. So surprised that I saw my former undergrad course mate from way back protesting for Biafra on the streets. I just told him how foolish he would have been to allow himself die for someone who either wants to make money from gullible followers or is hoping to create a new power bloc where he becomes the king maker, after all that's why politicians agitate for creation of states that end up being non viable. Before you chant "Biafra" next time, first make sure you have held your five South East governors 100% accountable for all the bad roads and lack of basic amenities in your states. Make sure there's been no bad governance in Abia, Ebonyi, Imo, etc since 1999. Make sure the SE is the most developed region in Nigeria and it's the other regions that are holding it backwards. Make sure Igbos aren't scattered all over Nigeria and beyond so you can easily relocate them to the small landmass in the SE. Lastly, make sure you reduce your hatred for the West and North. |
This should easily be achieved considering how large the economy of Lagos is within "the largest economy in Africa". That said, despite congestion Lagos is still the state almost every foreign investor wants to site its business for obvious reasons of: improved infrastructure, safety of investment, etc. Except they need massive landmass to operate then they consider Ogun state. This is what you get when you have 35 other governors who aren't qualified to be ordinary councillors in Europe. |
All these newspapers should learn to be bold like Sahara Reporters and name names instead of wasting our time. We all know it's the power drunk Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari. One thing amazes me about Nigerians. Before you got into office you were a humble nobody. Then you get appointed, not even elected, and you get so power drunk like your entire life depends on that position. How that Transformation suddenly occurs is what baffles me. |
afroniger:Until atheists can tell me who created everything they see around us: the earth, sky, seas, land, clouds, rain, thunder, etc. Then they can have my ears. Afterall, the things around them, from their houses, chairs, tables were all created by someone, they didn't "evolve". |
danidee10:Where is it said in the Bible that the Earth is flat? Can you show me? Would love to see. The concept of a spherical earth doesn't make sense to me as well. Cos I think we should be turned upside down when we go 180 degrees from one part of the earth. But I strongly agree that the earth is spherical and not flat, not because I learned that in Geography class, but because I've seen many videos from Space that clearly show a spherical horizon of the earth. Same way I strongly believe in God, not because I was born into Christianity, but because I've spent so much time reading the Bible from A-Z almost twice now. Anyone who says he later dumped Christianity for Atheism hasn't "Studied to show himself approved unto God". If these private jet pastors are the reasons people aren't interested in Christianity anymore, then there are many non materialistic pastors like Kumuyi. Until atheists can tell me who created everything they see around us: the earth, sky, seas, land, clouds, rain, thunder, etc. Then they can have my ears. Afterall, the things around them, from their houses, chairs, tables were all created by someone, they didn't "evolve". The Bible clearly describes how every single thing was created by God. Shikena |
SalamRushdie:It is usually paid to the court as a form of collateral to make the accused avail himself during the trial so he won't disappear till the trial is concluded. Then if he jumps bail, the money will be forfeited to the govt. |
I always knew they have a lot to hide that's why their budget has been a top secret for many years. Our NASS appropriating about N10b to themselves for capital projects so they can partake in the chopping. Which Parliament in the world executes capital projects abeg? That's why I always call them 469 useless people. |
So FFK doesn't expect the VP to have a good relationship with a Buhari from the North? Please, Nairaland mods have to stop bringing tweets of mentally deranged tribalists and extremists such as FFK as news on front page. It only promotes more ethnic hatred that has recently become the norm on Nairaland. Suddenly you have to explain where you're from before or after you make a comment here cos of unfortunate jobless ethnic champions. |
Something is definitely wrong with Nigeria and Nigerians. Its people always find a way to mess up every good step. I was excited to learn from my friend who had gone very far in the recruitment process after he applied without knowing anyone in govt. Perhaps influential politicians later hijacked the recruitment to 'empower' their own relatives instead. The Efcc needs to come out and make a statement on this issue if we're to take their anticorruption fight seriously henceforth. |
Jeffboi:Kano and Kaduna alone will wipe out the entire South East votes. It should be the other way round in 2019. The Igbos should open their eyes and vote for good candidates irrespective of party. Not one that uses sentiments of bearing "Azikiwe" or Fayose's new style of Famzying Biafra/Nnamdi Kanu's bail since he started eyeing PDP VP ticket. |
nkwuocha1:I'm not a yoruba person. Btw, this servitude is only recognised on Nairaland. Out there yorubas play good national politics. The best you can find in the country. |
nkwuocha1:Always playing the victim. For how long more? |
If it happens that no one comes here to write... "They are arresting Igbos because....", then I know there's hope for a better Nigeria ahead. |
Rubbish! These yeye newspapers have started dishing out yeye 2019 political headlines just to sell their newspapers. Next week will be "APC Councillors Dare Buhari!" Apart from Channels TV that has being doing back to back focus on performance of each federal ministry in relation to campaign promises, the rest are just 'catchy headlines outfits', especially Vanguard and Daily Sun. |
"The idea is to actually change FERMA , which is to review the FERMA law and come up with another law. The essence is that FERMA should ultimately be the biggest construction company in this country. The idea is to employ about 47, 000 people just to fix roads and the plan is there . Hopefully, I ’m sure that working with the House and the Senate, we will be able to get that done." One of the reasons I can never stop 'loving' Fashola... He's too refined to have emanated from Nigerian political system. |
Ay04z:You can also lose money if bitcoin value depreciates like it did early last month. I'm yet to understand what determines the value of bitcoin like I do to normal world currencies. Anyone who knows? So I can go all out for it. |
Make I prepare my luggage to meet this soulmate in my upcoming summer Euro trip. I don tire for this country of 99% zombies where as an unofficial rule, you're not expected to talk to a stranger on a bus or plane, including among themselves. Everyone dey behave as if they fell from sky individually. |
The only thing I think of when I remember Yaradua's death is... If only OBJ had picked Donald Duke as Yaradua's running mate as initially planned instead of the very corrupt Ineffectual Buffoon, Nigeria would have been miles ahead of where we are now in terms of development. Well, shit happens. |
I knew it's not possible as the fundamentals haven't changed yet. Just over $31b of foreign Reserve is not enough to open up to all importations. Secondly, these items such as toothpick should forever be discouraged from being imported if we really mean business as a productive economy wannabe. I know some people will say the govt is confused and likes policy somersaults. No, your illiterate brain is confused for not knowing that the govt is not the owner of a blog who carries fake or uncertain news. |
It's so real. Even my friends who are newly graduated doctors currently doing housemanship are already asking me about possibilities of practicing here. The problem is multifaceted; horrible management of govt hospitals, particularly teaching hospitals that I understand are currently being managed by the University after govt granted them autonomy. UPTH doctors keep going on strike action because of "high handedness of the CMD - Chief Medical Director". Then the horrible working environment. I was at LUTH one time and a Consultant refused to attend to new patients because Nepa took light and he was sweating profusely. Whereas here, every resident staying up to 1 year is immediately assigned a doctor upon arrival. We indeed have a long way to go. |
Nigerians are funny, pretending creatures. Actors have been lamenting and making noise about piracy destroying their efforts for decades. Now one of you is in Lagos parliament and no singular actor/actress including Desmond has pushed a bill to punish movie pirates whose headquarters is in the same Lagos. Instead he's become a photo lawmaker. We are all the cause of our problems. |
Oh my God! So happy like I'm the one involved. After the video of 'Made for you' came out and then 'The wedding party' movie, my only wish was.... These guys appear perfect for each other and should start dating jare. The chemistry was so incredible. I didn't even know they were dating already let alone getting married. Wish them well. Ezionye, this could be us. |
TonyeBarcanista:Keep calm and reduce the wailing. The report is scheduled to come out this week. The committee was given 2wks. Una hero never fought corruption and none of you made noise about it. Instead you supported them even for reelection that would have sunk Nigeria the more. Let our hardworking govt do what is needful the right way. No pressure from the real supporters. |
His crime: he awarded a govt contract to his company. Reports say he executed the contract. But the good news is, this is treated as corruption and he's been suspended. This shows progress in Nigeria of today. Unlike those who directly stole millions and billions of dollars from the CBN without any contract and our Ineffectual Buffoon (aka stupid Nigerians hero) of sad memory said Stealing is not corruption. |
Fayose that has already used the Nnamdi Kanu bail issue to form pro-Igbo (where elections are won on sentiments) to position himself for VP in 2019. Then when 2019 comes he'll say the normal political phrase... "My people beckoned on me to contest and I have to heed their call." We know the gimmicks already. |
Threebees:You too. Alele |
dingbang:Una miss road? This is travel section for Norway folks, not Romanceland. Carry your love and misses go under mango tree. Alele |
rozayx5:So being a mod should make him a robot without his own views of issues affecting his country? |
These Senators just keep wasting our money and time doing absolutely nothing. You investigated this same SGF before and submitted your report to the President. Even though delayed, Mr. President has suspended him and he's now being investigated by a committee led by the VP. What's the essence of another Senate committee investigating the same person and issue again? If it's me I won't bother showing up to this waste of time. |

). Today i would've been defending that Religion as the best in the world, as the "Right way".
