So in less than two years, Fashola did restore light which PDP could not do in sixteen years, abi?

Cheap and missense propaganda.

OBJ government started laying the foundation for the improved electricity supply of today.

The military dictators of nearly forty years didn't know that normally, degenerating social infrastructures like electricity, water supply, railway, telephone services, etc, needed replenishment. That's behind the near disappearance of those infrastructures.
I've since observed that when people are not informed about something, they find it very convenient to call it propaganda. That's the easiest word to write these days.
If you do not know as much as I know about Nigeria's power sector then no need to talk further.

These Nairaland people really need prayers. The same people here testifying that they are enjoying better power supply will still rush to front page to abuse Fashola as Minister of Darkness.
And I've been here thinking Fashola hasn't been doing so much on Power all along based on what I read. Maybe una dey expect Uninterrupted power supply in less than two years of Fashola, what PDP couldn't do in a whole 16yrs.

There is no man in the Senate that got so much love for the youths other than dino melaye.

The recall would not stand as a representative of the Nigerian youths
I took my precious time to read to the last page just to enjoy all the insults hurled at you. 2015 election loss (turned hatred for Buhari) has made you and your kinds extremely foolish and jobless that all you do daily is come on NL to write rubbish.
The good news is I have been skipping your comments long long ago since I knew only foolish words come out of you. I hope you are not somebody's father because your kids are in serious trouble to have such a father figure as you.
Give yourself a break if you have any brain left.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria's Oil Reserve To Dry Up In 30 Years ― Ibe Kachikwu by olujastro: 5:42pm On Jun 29, 2017
jpphilips:
I think people like you are part of the problem when you choose a convenient narrative that suite your objective.
Before you can stop flaring, you must make the infrastructural investments that will utilize your associated gas, Nigeria is at that level now, we have very minimal flare facilities, we have done several gas conversions and gas to power projects to utilize these gases against flaring it.

What Norway did differently like you mentioned was that companies investing in those gas conversion infrastructure got some tax rebate from the Govt that move attracted more investors that sped up their process, even at that, Norway will not completely eliminate flaring till 2030.
We have equally explored that option with several processes but the so called tax rebate was not enough to attract the required investments that could push up our time table because of Insecurity. Nigeria's Niger delta is high risk hence very few risk takers take the plunge unlike Norway.

The issue of flaring fines became counter productive not like it was eliminated by corruption, though there are still some corrupt tendencies esp where the last administration smuggled in flaring permit for a fee in the PIB. Basically, the flaring fine fell because our NNPC holds majority stake in the JV while the foreign and local partners are the operators, so the bulk of the fine goes back to the NNPC in a case of the government finning itself.
Really? Nigeria is at that level? I always say things the way they are, no time for window dressing.
I hope you know enough of what you say. All the fields that have been developed in the last ten years, tell me which one that doesn't flare gas anyhow apart from Agbami FPSO? Erha flares, Usan flares, even Akpo that's more of a gas field with subsea pipelines to Bonny still flares. Escravos fields still flare despite EGTL.

I see where you got this..."even that Norway will not completely eliminate flaring till 2030“....the first news item on Google. Unfortunately, you didn't read down to the see they're talking about eliminating gas flaring globally. For your information, Norway flares nothing.
I speak from experience both in Nigeria and Norway. That's the difference between us I believe.
PoliticsRe: We Don’t Want Restructuring - Governor Umahi by olujastro:
Everyone is just talking Restructuring these days. No one is hitting the right notes. Too many public commentators who don't understand the Nigerian situation.
You have 36 governors, most of them are more interested in looting their treasury than in developing their states. You need evidence? The simple fact that a small but rich Bayelsa getting oil revenue can't pay its workers' salaries.
So according to the empty restructuring noisemakers, we "restructure the country" so that a Bayelsa can have all the oil money and increase its looting spree by 1000% while other less viable states (created to appease those who were seeking to become the new state power brokers at the time) will have nothing to even pay only its teachers for years to come, let alone build roads, schools and hospitals.
This is the restructuring I expect smart people to be talking about right now. Decentralisation of the resources as well as the responsibilities. FG takes home 52% of FAAC monies while states and LGAs get about 22% & 26% respectively. Adjust the sharing formula in favour of the states. This in turn will mean more responsibilities for them. Nothing like federal roads henceforth, all major projects in a state will be handled by the state government instead of waiting for Abuja to approve work on a road that is killing your people daily.
The bad side is, if you have a chief looter as your governor, $1tr a month will disappear into thin air the story remains the same.
The bottom line is, if your governor is doing nothing with little; he'll definitely do almost nothing with more money.
The public office holders are largely the problems, not the system.
PoliticsRe: Fashola’s Budget Proposal Failed Integrity Test – Reps by olujastro: 5:27am On Jun 29, 2017
It's one thing to display stupidity and it's another thing to be ashamed of your stupidity.
This House spokesman, Namdas is not ashamed at all to be categorised as a very foolish person. How can a human being proudly come out to display this level of foolishness!
So backyard boreholes and sewing machines are equitable ways of balancing all zones than fixing our most important highways that carry agricultural produce, humans and goods?

You see why I said Nigeria isn't ready for development yet because of our largely foolish legislators.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria's Economy Defies Logic by olujastro:
Nigeria's economy defies logic because the foundation has always been faulty and Nigerians have largely been too ignorant to understand that. A lot of people don't have a single idea what makes a strong economy. For them, any regime where they can buy cheap foreign rice, cars, petrol, etc is the best. While any govt that tries to fix the foundational issues even though people have to suffer for it is the worst.

I must say that this "Nigeria is a zoo" guys are really a foolish set of people. Did they all fall from the sky recently or have they, their parents and grandparents not been all parts of the problems Nigeria is facing today?
Jobless illiterates have really taken over our cyberspace.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria's Oil Reserve To Dry Up In 30 Years ― Ibe Kachikwu by olujastro:
Too many visionless and senseless have been ruling Nigeria at both Presidential and Ministerial levels since Independence. Only Kachikwu is trying to make a difference, though the work is MASSIVE.
In Nigeria if gas flaring isn't part of a production platform design, the platform is not complete. We just waste all our gas and wantonly pollute the environment. While the DPR Offshore personnel (taking instructions from their Ogas at the office) who are supposed to monitor flaring levels and ensure the Oil companies pay heavy fines for flaring collude with the companies to manipulate the flare figures and fines. Corruption runs deep in all of una blood.
Whereas in Norway you dare not flare a single cubic metre of gas. Flaring is totally forbidden and your company will go down. All the sales gas goes straight to Europe. They've even gone ahead to implement carbon capture from other emission sources and they cut taxes for companies who do so.

Honestly the problems to be solved in Nigeria are so many that if I'm invited to be president right now, I no collect. Maybe 20yrs time will be a good time. Hopefully, by then there'll be less tribalism and religiosity from town criers who always carry microscope to cry foul in every single action of govt.

PoliticsRe: 2017 Budget: You Are Ignorant, Fashola Blasts Senate, House Spokespersons by olujastro: 7:22am On Jun 27, 2017
Nigeria is not ready for development. When we are we'll start getting concerned about the quality of human beings we elect as Legislators. Out of the 469 of them in the Nass I usually find it difficult to count up to 10 sensible ones.
Many Nigerians are also foolish too, they hail the insensible Legislators the most simply because according to them, this govt must fail.

“In any event, allegations of half truth is only a flawed response to the constitutional and developmental issues that have plagued Nigeria from 1999 about how to budget for the critical infrastructure in Nigeria. It shows the conflict between the Executive that wants to build big Federal Highways; Bridges ; Power Plants; Rail; and Dams on one hand and Parliament that wants to do small things like bore holes, health centres , street lights and supplying grinding machines ,” he said.
PoliticsRe: Bayelsa Goes After Tax Defaulters, Seals Off Oil Services Firm by olujastro: 5:58am On Jun 22, 2017
Na now Dickson eyes clear. You sit down and wait for FAAC money until you can't pay salaries before you consider IGR. Everyone is now preaching "restructuring" because of 35 lazy, useless governors who can't work to generate money for their states.
Bayelsa is about the most unlucky state in the South South, closely followed by Delta. From Thief Alams to The Ineffectual Buffoon to another Thief Sylva and then to this nonsense Dickson.
Four lazy thieves have successfully wasted 18 years of millions of people.

PoliticsRe: 2018 Budget Will Be Signed This December - Presidency by olujastro:
Story for the gods. I find it hard to trust a third time after trying twice.
The only disappointing aspect of my support for this govt is how they've been slow in handling budget submission and passage. And Buhari himself (with Budget minister Udo Udoma) takes the major blame for that. Their first budget, the 2016 budget, was submitted late in December because Baba wasted 6 good months in appointing ministers. After which Baba and the Nass wasted 5 months in arguing about who padded what till May 5th.
I thought they had learned their lessons until they disappointed me again by submitting the 2017 budget in December again! Again Nass wasted 6 months passing it and it was just signed yesterday!
For a govt that was supposed to hit the ground running not to understand the importance of quickly having a budget in place so that funds can be released on time for infrastructural projects. The matter just tire me!
I'm just patiently waiting for another disappointment for the 2018 budget.
I must say that releases for capital expenditure have been very high in this govt. Kudos to Aunty Kemi for that.

If you are a confident woman, you can be yourself.
You obviously didn't get my point. For example, my previous girlfriend is one of those described in one of the points raised cos she treats a relationship as a gateway to financial prosperity. Its a view she feels should be the norm, which makes her very indifferent in pursuing her own financial/career success. This thread is for such a person to help her change her ways cos "being herself" is a turn-off already to most men.

How about being yourself that is so much easier ...read a few newspapers and books that makes a woman a lot more fascinating.
Being a lot more fascinating sounds great for exciting conversations in a relationship.
On being herself, what if the person herself isn't good enough? Being herself may not help the relationship, hence the need for these 5 excellent points to serve as areas of improvement.
PropertiesRe: Where's The Best Place To Live In Lagos Mainland? by olujastro: 8:19am On Jun 11, 2017
You see, Lagos is so small that it should be OK to live anywhere and easily access wherever (asides Badagry and Ikorodu) you wish to in minutes if not for the thousands of crazy people causing unnecessary traffic on the roads.
Na when we dey do late night waka those days we realised Lekki to Festac is just 30mins drive.
For me, I can't live in an area that isn't well planned. Else, each day I get up from bed, I'll just be angry at the society by merely gazing around my environment.
So I'll go with Festac, Gbagada, Surulere or Ikeja.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Cleaner Lagos Initiative Begins Staff Recruitment by olujastro: 7:27am On Jun 10, 2017
Not a bad idea. But why do we have to get the city dirty and start cleaning it every day? Europe wey clean, dem get 10 heads?
Metallic waste bins should be constructed and stationed at every bus stop, inside all buses, trains and at strategic places on the roads.
Nigerians should as well learn to use waste bins and not throw out rubbish on the roads, especially through the window when on a journey. I get disgusted when I see people doing that. Wait till you get to a nearby bin or take it home.
Cleanliness is next to godliness.

How? I became an investor. Where your money is, there shall your heart be.
You can start with little investments in the stock market especially now that it's fast rising again since the CBN launched the new FX window for foreign investors. The ASI is just about 31,000 and I expect it to get back to pre-recession figures of about 48,000. So money can still be made before then.

So many good long term developments to give Nigeria a solid foundation for local production are currently being put in place by this adminstration.
But guess what? Nigerians don't like long term developments, they want to have everything good now now now! If you have to empty the purse like Gej just to keep them happy at the moment, so be it.
I hope we change our mentality for good.

but why are some banks that allow naira cards for dollar transactions still charging from 375 and above.? some even over 400naira with their useless $100 limit?
The essence of the current high rate being charged by banks is to discourage reckless use of cards for foreign transactions till everything stabilizes as before. GTB was charging 320/$ just last month. Only those who desperately need the fx will go ahead to use their cards with the current high rates.
EducationRe: What Happened To The Top Scoring Student In Your School? by olujastro:
I was the best in my class throughout primary school.
In JSS, we were 3 of us. The 1st got admission into the university to study Chemical Engineering 2yrs after trying. He's with KPMG in Nigeria. The 2nd immediately got admitted into the university and bagged a 1st class in Surveying. After about 2yrs of no good job, his parents sent him to do his MSc in Canada which is still ongoing.
As for me the 3rd best, I immediately got admitted to study Mechanical Engineering, graduated with a high 2.1 and immediately joined an oil servicing company in Nigeria. After over 3yrs of working offshore, I decided to put some of my savings together for a masters in Europe.
But I won't lie, I've now lost some interest in academics especially if it's not something I can visualise about the oil industry technologies. To solve yeye maths don tire me. The brain just wants to make more and more money in any possible legit way!
For my university, most of my top graduating colleagues are still struggling to get something good enough 6yrs after graduation. What can I say! All is well.
