Election: We don’t have reports of rigging - EU The European Union Election Observation Mission to Nigeria, on Monday, reacted to the allegation by the presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, that the last Saturday’s presidential election in the country was rigged and that “sophisticated rigging system” was deployed to perpetrate electoral malpractices during the polls. Buhari had alleged last Saturday that there were reports of planes delivering what was suspected to be presidential voting card already thumb-printed in several states shortly after casting his votes at his Kofar Baru 3 voting centre. But speaking exclusively to the Nigerian Tribune in Abuja, the leader of the EU team, Alojz Peterle, stated that “I don’t know of reports of direct rigging.” He maintained that ballot boxes were better sealed during the election when compared to what obtained in the previous elections. Mr Peterle, however, added that “it is early to judge whether everything was done well.” He further noted that though collation was well organised, “I saw arithmetic problem; they (INEC official) have to check how the figures were done together.” Earlier in a briefing, Mr Peterle, while presenting a preliminary report, stated that there was considerable improvement in Nigeria’s quest for democracy and asked aggrieved parties to explore legal options in venting their grievances. He observed that the overall desire of Nigerians in 2015 should be to achieve zero violence before, during and after elections. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/front-page-news/20652-election-we-dont-have-reports-of-rigging-eu |
How BBC caused crisis in the North The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Hausa Service had been blamed for the riots and confusion in Adamawa State, following its alleged broadcast that the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, had won the election in Adamawa State, when the electoral commission in the state was still collating results. The Special Adviser to the Adamawa State Governor, Aminu Iyawa, told journalists that the BBC broadcast was orchestrated to cause mischief and chaos. He said violence erupted after the electoral commission announced Goodluck Jonathan of the PDP as winner in the state. http://tribune.com.ng/index.php |
My question is: is democracy not also about negotiation and compromise?, if that is the case, can Buhari define what 'deal' means? |
@GenBuhari, Please leave us the fvck alone, people want to engage in a logical and intelligent discussion and not your delusional sh.it. ![]() |
efisher:Hopefully the likes of Atiku, Ciroma and co would follow too, lol. ![]() |
Its fresh air atlast. ![]() |
nateevs:Dude, I'm a european citizen too and its nothing special, so I enjoy 24/7 steady power supply, so tell me, is that luck?, If Nigerians put their vote on luck, its their decision and u better live with it or quit complaining. ![]() |
Sun of god:hahahaha, he is now Laurent Gbagbo of Nairaland, lol. Ok, I will ask Beaf to smoke him out. ![]() |
ebonyjoy1:What is so special being a US citizen?, does that solve or have effect on Nigeria's problems. |
Kobojunkie:Look at who is calling someone a bigot, It's noted u helped buhari to this messy loss, running delusional, infected and spurious oppinion and allegations on NL and all over the web thinking u can win people over. I know your next line of allegation would be the election was rigged. , anyway we still have some champagne left, join us in this historic merry merry. ![]() |

Well, I think those figures have K-legs or the children and cows voted issue , I will wait for the official result. It was just reported on Belgian TV news that GEJ is leading Buhari in the result collated so far. |
Apart from Ernest Shonekan ( which was indeed a selected interim leader by the military), If GEJ wins today, it will be the first time in ages we are breaking away from the 'gang of military friends' that have taken turns in keeping the presidency to themselves, should'nt we consider this as a FRESH AIR? |
sound sacastic tho, but I think u need some twisting to it. ![]() |
Kobojunkie:As if u can. ![]() |
Buhari replying in hausa was just plain silly and divisive. ![]() This is a national and not sectional or regional election, QED. |
Beaf:PDP won that ward with 73 votes. ![]() |

Where are these new GEJ supporters from?, lol. ![]() |
@op That video could also be a 'stage manage (rigging) act' for smeer campaign, what evidence that she was thumbprinting ballot papers? , being in the polling booth is not enough evidence, guess u know that? |
I always believe that beside Buhari there are other capable hands to lead the country than recycled the same person that truncated our democratic growth, Nigeria can survive and grow without Buhari. So let leave the recycling option and embrace a new idea in leadership. I have come to believe that alot of the people shouting Buhari are difficult learners; you know those kind of people you teach one lesson in school over and over again before they understand it? |
photoshopped! ![]() |
Orikinla:That was hillarious. ![]() |
soloqy:Dude, GenBuhari can't break his contract midway else Buhari will send him to Kirikiri to cool off, I think his campaign contract expires on Saturday. Until then let enjoy his weak strategies. ![]() |
Akinmobs:Is it also delusional that Ribadu is courting Tinubu? Beaf just merely put out a question, It's left for u to give an answer or leave it. ![]() |
