If Buhari had access to billions, whether from Abacha or anybody, his campaign will not be so lean like this. So lean that even we poor men on Nairaland are the ones contributing our widow's mites to put up a jingle for him.

PoliticsPdp 'll Win Majority In National Assembly, If Buhari Wins The Presidency: by omanzo02(op): 9:03pm On Apr 01, 2011
Its obvious PDP will win the majority in the National assembly, let assume Buhari wins the presidency, how is he going to function properly as president with PDP throwing spanner in his wheels every now and then, or is he going to resort to dictatorial administration without approval from the house?

LO! I've just been lurking in the background, having a good laugh throughout the thread. In the beginning it was just anti-GEJ people laughing at their usual rude jokes and engaging in their usual loud and tasteless name calling.
As the debate proceeded, they got progressively quieter, and a couple of them even hailed GEJ.

. . .But by the end of the debate, the diehards were taking their defeat in a very sore way. They swung their filthy words away from GEJ, and hauled them squarely at all Nigerians instead!
The most hilarious point came when two of them revealed their absolute lack of love or concern for the country. Ibime thanked God he has a British passport and Donlittle thanked God he had residency papers (for God knows where). I am 100% sure we can see Buhari's reaction in these class of supporters. Hilarious!!!
I have been observing their nuissance for a while now. Dude, having a british passport and residence permit is not a big deal, it only guarantee accesses if u know how to use them, Its not roses in Europe/America as most here sound.  I see loads of Nigerians here in Europe that owns EU passport still they can't improve themselve to rise as serious people, if u engage them in a progressive discussion or debate, all  answers u get are retrogressive and pessimism to the core. Don't be surprise they are failure with the enormous accesses around them and they blame it on Nigeria.

I was in Nigeria late January and witnessed GEJ coasting as the popular contestant, contrary to the perception NL'er has been showcasing.

Seem we can write very good english language to criticise people, but we don't understand what is being explained nor said in english, I heard the man explained the difficulties PDP has been facing since 1999, the trials and errors, until the current innitiatives to allow the private sector to drive the economy, That Energy is the soul of any economy that is why they ARE concentrating on reviving the power sector to woo investors. He named the projects that are ongoing and those to be done.

what more do u want to hear?, I go buy u cow or we will?

The man is not saying 'we will' but 'we are doing', ,

Why is this a commendable act from a man who himself sidestepped the Zoning agreement in the PDP Party constitution so he could run for president? I don’t think we really expected him to decide he would not run for a second term come 2015, which seems to be what these groups are trying to get him to agree to. undecided undecided undecided
There is no zoning in Nigeria's constitution, if u feel Buhari is your hope to retain zoning, well, we shall know in few days time.  grin grin grin grin

[font=Georgia][size=12pt]@Poster, what commitment? What hardworking man? What humility? What ability?

You do realize the man you speak of has 12 solid years under his belt serving as a public servant but NO SINGLE ACCOMPLISHMENT, not even one in his own home state to show, for all 12 years? Not even a single memorable road project to his name in his own state? How can a committed man have nothing to show for his 12 years in high office?

How can a hardworking man have such a record? [color=#000099]How can a man, who even when he had full power to change the lives of his own people, who are among the many people like to claim are most maligned in the nation, did nothing in over 18 months as Governor be considered a man of humility?? May I suggest you refer to the dictionary for help there? Until then, stop insulting the intelligence of our people, and the Dictionary !@Poster
Some people are so delusional, so u expect a democratic president to jettison laid down procedure, ignore other arms of government and wield his power dictatorialy to change the life of his people?.

Kobojunkie:
I know it is possible, and it is not rare occurrence in the developed world. What I don't get is why Nigerians, even those who are abroad still make excuses for the situation in the country.
Because I live in Europe does not mean I should expect Nigeria to work like Europe, I use to think why can't Nigeria copy how advance country get it right, not until I got into the system myself and then realises the great differences.  Nigeria's decision/solutions on projects whether ecological, maintenance or development is tied to politic and lack of fund, while in Europe is pure 'solution' without politicking and the fund are there anytime to access without going to the government to beg because every vehicle and motorcycle owner in europe pays an annual road tax that runs into billions of euro's, How many vehicle owners pay road tax in Nigeria?

So every contruction company whether in Nigeria, Japan, America, Europe can repair that road overnight, its not the technical knowhow that is missing but  decision making ability and fund.

Kobojunkie:
I hate to break your celebration here but um . . . most of the new rail systems come with their own power plants. They are not all hooked to the main grid, even in places like china, and I am almost certain that is the case with where you got the picture you have there from. lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed They do not need to be tied to the same Grid people are dependent on. Also, the Administration probably expected that after spending all $16 billion, it would probably get somewhere with supplies by now. Sad case!

But no, rail electricity does not have to depend on local grid supply -- we have enough resources of have dedicated power plants to the rail system and so we do not have to sit back, MOROSE, waiting first to satisfy people, before we venture into IMPROVING on the LIVES.
That did'nt break my celebration at all, try again. grin grin grin

^^He asked a great question. The power requirements for residences and industries need to be sorted out before devoting to high speed rail, especially when there are alternatives.
Bravo dude,

U perfectly decoded the reasons behind my question.

Older version of locomotives are still are still a common sight in Europe and America, some people here are just asking for too much and they are so clueless in what they ask for.

A journey of a thousand miles begines with a step, so old or new locomotive, its all about pulling the carrriage and its passengers.

Not only by mere talking and comparison of Nigeria with other countries, one question I have for u guys is, when did  Nigeria started having an articulated/ground  plan for power plant construction?, for those of u who are farmiliar with phasing (planning, sourcing, contracting, execution and delivery), is it an overnight groundwork?.
