LAGBUSOFFICIAL:Please tell ur management to stop charging customers N200 for services they do not privide, pending when all the A/C's in your buses start functioning well.Collecting N200 without the necessary comfort is a big slap on Lagosians...The Driver on LAGBUS MB009..Almost got lynch by angry customers on the 9th of April 2016...because of this development..they had to open the roof and side windows for air to come in. The right thing for Lagbus to do is to reduce the fair to N150 for now until they fix the A/C in their buses. |
The Senate wednesday began the process of passing the controversial and much awaited Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) as the bill scaled first reading on the floor of the upper chamber. The bill was re-christened as Petroleum Industry and Governance Bill (PIGB). The first reading of the bill wednesday was the aftermath of the conclusion of its harmonisation by both chambers of the National Assembly, thus marking the third time it would pass first reading in the Senate. This came as the Senate also asked its Joint Senate Committee on Petroleum (Upstream and Downstream), Finance and Appropriation to immediately commence the investigation of joint venture cash calls by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Both the Senate and House of Representatives had recently harmonised a new draft of PIB and renamed it PIGB following a prolonged silence by the presidency on the bill as well as the continued agitation for its passage by the citizenry. The National Assembly has been in the eye of the storm over its failure to pass PIB in two consecutive assemblies. Critics blamed the legislative institution for rampant and prevalent corruption in petroleum industry which they said the bill set out to salvage. The increasing wave of criticisms over non-passage of the bill therefore compelled both Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, to repeatedly urge President Muhammadu Buhari to present a new PIB to National Assembly. But perceived indifference from Buhari to the presentation of a new bill in the face of persistent agitation from the public forced the National Assembly to take up the responsibility of drafting and harmonising the bill. The petroleum industry framework was first conceived by the administration of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and sent to the sixth National Assembly. But the failure of the sixth National Assembly to pass the bill compelled the immediate past government of President Goodluck Jonathan to re-present the bill to the seventh National Assembly. However, the seventh National Assembly again failed to pass the bill as a result of stiff opposition from Northern lawmakers especially over the allocation of 10 per cent royalty to oil producing communities in the bill. Northern lawmakers had opposed the provision of host community fund in bill on the ground that Niger Delta region where oil is domiciled had received more than enough benefits with little or nothing to show for it. They therefore argued that the region did not deserve any further 10 per cent royalty provided in the bill. The lawmakers who claimed that the Niger Delta region had secured more that N11 trillion from government’s treasury since 1999, further argued that besides the 13 per cent derivation earned by each oil producing state, the region also has the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Ministry of Niger Delta all created to facilitate development of the region. While northern lawmakers insisted that the provision of host community fund must be expunged, their Niger Delta counterparts vehemently disagreed, thus resulting in a stalemate which led to the non-passage of the bill. Besides, international oil communities (lOCs) also rejected the bill over insinuations that the bill imposed a huge tax regime on them which they said was at variance with best practices. The new bill tagged: “An Act to Provide Governance and Institutional Framework for the Petroleum Industry and Other Related Matters,” re-christens PIB as Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB). The new bill also renames Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as National Petroleum Company (NPC). It also scraps the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and provides for a new one to be known as Ministry of Petroleum Incorporated (MOPI). The bill also scraps Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Agencies (PPPRA) and Petroleum Inspectorate (PI). PIGB then replaces DPR, PPPRA and PI with Nigeria Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NPRC).The bill also removes local content which was one of the strong contentions of IOCs. Also yesterday, the Senate expressed concern over an allegation that the NNPC had been violating rules governing its joint venture cash call responsibility and consequently asked its committee to investigate the allegation. It simultaneously asked the committee to come up with sanctions for any known violation of appropriation acts in the oil and gas sector. The move followed the adoption of a motion by Senator Bassey Akpan (Akwa Ibom North-east). Akpan in the motion alleged persistent constraints by NNPC to meet its cash call obligations, a situation he said had worsened the country’s crude oil production output and other activities in the oil and gas sector. Putting the current outstanding cash call obligations in the oil and gas sector at $6 billion, Akpan argued that cash calls ought to be treated as first line items by NNPC before remittance of available balance on its collectible revenues from crude sales to the federation account. He said such revenues ought to be handled as approved by the National Assembly. He also said it was worrisome that crude oil production from the joint venture between NNPC and IOCs had declined by 47 per cent as at the last quarter of 2015 as a result of federal government’s inability to meet its cash call obligation. Akpan also claimed that it was illegal and unconstitutional for NNPC to spend billions of dollars which he said ought to be used to settle joint venture cash calls on “inconsequential administrative expenses.” He recalled that the National Assembly had approved over N1 trillion as joint venture cash calls for 2016 fiscal year, saying the legislative institution must ensure strict adherence to the approval as contained in 2016 Appropriation Act and Medium Term and Expenditure Framework (MTEF). http://nigeriamasterweb.com/paperfrmes.html |

It still happens in some remote villages in Nigeria..though it might not be brough to our noticeI remember back in 1990's when my cousin was circumcise, there was so much celebration ..I remembered my grand aunt bought massive dry fish to prepare our favorite meal along side with drinks and other items for the celebration.there was this importance they attached to circumcision that indicates, women ascention into adult hood ....but these girls are much older from the age of 15-18 years.Neighbours & well wishers may come to present gift in form of money or material thngs. After the healing process, there is a red substance that is applied on all the the girls skin, she is also required to put on red clothings and slippers throughtout this period....A friend within her age group must escort her where ever she goes for that period till it end.. I use to see alot of these girl back then while growing up with thier red painted body, red cloths and red umbrella against the sun..it was a source of pride to the girls and their parents back then. So it is a similar situation here.We all attache circumcision to adulthood, the Pre-Nigeria old social system and means integration in the society was tied accoding to age group. There always is this joy in the society for a girl/boy to be counted or be upgraded to a particular age group in the society..it may not be fun for the girls but for the people that believe and uphold that culture. |
moyakz:it takes a bunch of broom to be able to sweep of a dirt..a single broom cannot do that...if ur kind do not discourage people but join in standing up against oppression, deceat and injustice dont you think Nigerian would have been better..the problem with Nigeria is lack of togetherness toward a cause..we dont have that in this country..every man to himself but together we are all suffering under the same situation that we have been shouting about for decades. |
moyakz:A typical Nigerian you are..suffering and smiling..mute in the face of oppression and injustice..eat, laugh and forget it ever existed and life goes but Nigeria does not ..If Americans and other Europeans have this same mentality ..do you think they will be where they are today? you have to for once stand up and fight for your right, stop this i dont care attitude of always crashing through the wall when you are being pushed onto it. |
GUYS I dont know if any one here do ply the TBS/Berger Route with this LAGBUS that has A/C ? This new Buses were introduced at the tail end of Fashola's Administration.Lagosians are charge N200 Naira because of the comfort the bus provides, since it has A/C. As usual, Many people after a stressful day at work usually opt for this A/C LAGBUS for a stress free ride home over the old torn and hot LAGBUS without A/C. Guys.. now thing have change ooo...that brand new bus we use to see now lack maintenance and is fast becoming like the old hot LAGBUS some people avoided becasue of the heat and the its unkept state. The A/C's are no longer working and they are still collecting N200 naira from Lagosians..the worst part of it is that, you will not be informed priore to your ticket purchase about the condition of the Bus and if you complain thereafter you will be ask to step out if you cannot bear with the heat that there are other people ready to take your seat...the difference between the old red Lagbus and This new one is because of the A/C ..then why are they now still collecting N200 naira from Lagosians, when they know they cannot keep up to the standard?. I was also informed that the A/C Lagbus is owned by a private company and not Lagos state Govt. I was really pissed yesterday that i had to call thier customer care line who claimed ignorant of the condition of the Bus. So guys..please take note that when plying the TBS/Berger Route, just have it in mind that the LAGBUS A/C & the Old Lagbus are the same..the only time you should pay or opt for this bus is when you have no other alternative. Its better you take the normal N150 bus than that deceptive LAGBUS WITH A/C.They are nothing but CHEAT.

chiefobdk:what are you talking about...this is Nigeria we are talking about..he has every right to criticize the legislators who were deaf&dumb when this bill was omitted from the budget..after all, were they sent there to just earn fat salaries and allowance? NO..why cant they fight for what will bring development to thier regions just the way the northern legislators are fighting for thiers?..why are they so passive over developmenttal issues that will bring development to thier various constituencies?..if the south south people cannot shout about this issue then let the poeple from the south west do it..after all they will be affected positively one way or the other in this project..na only gra gra over nothing , we dey south south and south east..when its comes to issues like they are never involve. |
NinjaX:I good writer you are..why the hate na? |
Is Transcorp and Skye bank shares a good buy? |
NO MIND THEM. |
all the money that was used for the burial arrangment in Ikoyi and procession in Ikeja..would have been used for his hospital bills when he was still holdng on to life..Nigerians would rather spend more for burial arrangment than spend money for hospital bill for the persons treatment..Typhoid and Pnemonia is a sickness that people can be treated for.The music and movie industry should learn how to be thier brothers keeper and be of asistance when its needed most, especially when it involve health issue that could result to death. |
