I asked my friend yesterday (a banker) Guy why ain't you married. He said na ashewo dey Abuja. Very materialistic set of girls. Just like truth don get accident for Naija. Dem don kidnap morals and values from our society. |
To be frank that is the real marriage. The rest are ceremonies. |
Tgirl4real: I get your point. The question I would love to ask is, what is fb about? You know fb is about keeping in touch with old friends n family and once in a while you would want to update them on recent happenings in your life, not necessarily to draw attention. For example, when my baby clocked one, my sis abroad asked me to post her pics for them to see. She was even scolding me about it. My hubby, on the other hand, would not want his child's pix on the net.Facebook is a place people showcase lies and pretentious life. |
I see complex issues here flying. Well the poster is free to do whatever she wants to do, but she should consider the consequences before she goes into it. |
manny4life: Damn, a lot of you need prayers, and seriously... Did I insult Islam now? I simply stated "as much as I dislike Islam and it's practice", please o, what is wrong in what I wrote?A more reason you should have choose your words carefully. There are 2 things, I think 3 now that can easily cause crisis (whether online or reality) - Religion - Politics; and now - Football. So be careful on how you air your opinions on these areas or rather keep your opinion to yourself. |
emmatok: Traffic offence is a MISDEMEANOR and not FELONY.Please read the recent traffic law. You might go to jail for breaking some laws. |
aribisala0: i think the cctv argument is trying to insult our intelligence. How many murder convictions or convictions in general are obtained on the basis of CCTV anywhere?. We are talking about an allegation for which there are several witnesses.Let their testimony be heard and other evidence presented before a court. I believe there is enough material for a competent court to make a determination either way. I wonder why there is all this hysteriaWell said. Let the Court decide. |
“I’ve told LASTMA, understand your brief. Your brief is to keep Lagos traffic moving. Your brief is not necessarily to apprehend people. So if you see an offender, it does you no good to struggle for his key. Take his photograph with your camera or phone camera and give us a detailed report. We can find him. We have a device now, called auto-inspector, and I can give you the name of the owner of any vehicle registered in this state. Now we’re already looking at how we can deploy cameras to the traffic lights that we’re putting up. So if you run a light, we’ll come and meet you at home,” the governor said. I think the Governor should first check their sanity before reiterating their brief because the LASTMA officers I see are stationary traffic wardens waiting for traffic violators. But the funny thing is that they are friends with commercial vehicles who are they worst traffic violators in Lagos. Please the technology should be effective that is the only way traffic sanity can be restored. |
I think we are missing out the point here. Already the woman is in jail with her 3 months old baby. Her family and friends are in distress trying to save her neck. A life is already gone. People are aggrieved. A lot of people do not see the wrong with violating traffic rules. The rules are there to avoid issues like this. We need to be abide to the law and not violate it. 2 wrongs does not make a right. |
Why are we being insensitive here? A life has been lost, even if the activities of LASTMA are excessive, we are still talking about a human life here. Lets be honest, that woman cannot claim she is not partly responsible for the loss of that LASTMA officer's life. This is not a case of WE against THEM. The LASTMA officer was trying to do his job, yes we have had bad experience with them including myself, but he lost his life trying to correct a problem. If the woman did not drive against traffic, there would be no need for LASTMA officers to try and arrest her and if the LASTMA officers weren't trying to arrest her, there would be no lost of life (whether it was her or a danfo bus). I feel for the banker, I feel for her family, I also feel for the family of the LASTMA officer because a bread-winner has been lost (what will happen to his children and wife?). To the rest of us, this is a huge lesson for us. We should really think of our actions and the consequences before we commence. Now she is trying to convince the nation that she is innocent. Would a judge really buy that? Would the aggrieved LASTMA family, friends and colleagues buy that? Would even the State Governor really buy that? Because I hear he is really interested in the case. If only she had comply to traffic rules, she wouldn't have gotten into this mess. Please lets us all be guided. I also believe this case should give rise to public outcry for reorientation of LASTMA officers. They need to be helpful, rather than seeking to make extra bucks. |
Wizeboy: Its neither the fault of our participant nor Coach. Nigeria had always been lucky winning medal at the Olympic without adequate preparation.Who told you the Nigerian athletes didn't prepare? These guys are athletes, they just don't go to sleep after the Olympics. They go back to their clubs, to train and compete in other competitions. Their best wasn't just good enough to compete against the world. Nigerian coaches need to look for talent in secondary schools and primary schools where they can be trained. There is need to introduce a scholarship scheme for athletes and also all schools should have a well equipped sport facilities. Well it is a pity that private schools has taken over the important role of public schools in our society and these private schools, even with the huge tuition fees, impact little knowledge to kids. So lets prepare our minds for poor outing in Brazil. The same thing applies to football. |
bukatyne: u guessed wrong, guess again! i wonder y u guys are reactin to my post, is d quality of men in nigeria so lowNope just that the expectations of Nigerian women have gone beyond the roof. They expect paradise when they are only coming with kitchen utensils. They expect bliss when they actually bring little or nothing to the table. They expect made-men, when their fathers ain't millionaires. Now to your other posts. Since you aint married you won't understand. I pray your man (sowie boy-friend) marries you first, and be the dream husband you want. Please be good to that man and know that there would be trying times in your marriage. |
stint: are you married to him and are you sure he does all this things op pointed . maybe you should read it again.I guess she is just newly married or at the early stage of marriage. You know sey new car dey shack. |
bukatyne: they do exist and i'm blessed to have one by my side. d OP never said a perfect man or one witout flaws so it's not fantasy but reality so men, step up ur game!Aint we all happy for you. I am sure you didn't finish or understand the write up. Madam we all now know your husband is a good man with little flaws (abi?). Are you a good wife to him and will you still remain a good wife to him? Be honest with yourself!!! |
Good write-up but I hope it is just a figment of your imagination sha and should not be taken seriously because ladies of these days may paint up fantasies of abnormalities and expect a man to conform to them. My BIG question is - Do Nigerian ladies truly deserve a good man and do Nigerian men truly deserve a good lady? I presume the poster is a lady - so I would ask her if she was a male would she like to date or marry herself? Be honest!!! My best piece of advise - - Look inward (male or female), do you consider yourself good enough to be dated or married or you still have some bad habits you need to let go? - Do not depend on anybody for your happiness, for your happiness is your sole responsibility. - Do not expect too much from other people. For when you expect too much and they don't deliver, you will only be disappointed. - Also, be good, do good and hold no grudges for it takes a fool to abandon a good person. |
Well I hope this is not an excuse for pedestrians not to use the pedestrian bridge cos it is actually the same thing when you avoid the bridge and try to cross the express road - DEATH. Know you will be held responsible for your own death and it is actually now a criminal offense. The authorities should look into the dilapidated bridge for the safety of pedestrians. |
So what is this suppose to mean? Then why did she flee the scene of incident if her vehicle was stationary and not moving? If she was driving recklessly and they were trying to catch up with her and in the process, the LASTMA officer was hit by a bus, she is then responsible for the death of the LASTMA officer. Actually, that is what driving against traffic (one way) leads to. Because you must be insane to be driving against traffic. It is a suicide mission and also endangers the lives of other drivers. While I still feel sorry for her and her family, I consider that she must be literate enough to know that she had committed an offense/crime, stay cool and get the booking. Rather than flee the crime scene. Running away from a crime scene would only get you to commit another crime. Her actions led to the death of the LASTMA officers whether is was her vehicle or some other person's vehicle. We all need to be careful, respect traffic rules and learn from this. |
They came fourth. |
Farouk is a criminal. Why is the Nigerian Police giving that man so much privileges (the freedom of him showing up twice a day from his house)? That is why is yet to own up that he either collected the bribe or share, like they always do, to his colleagues. He should be behind bars like the average criminal. He should also stop shredding crocodile tears for he is yet to weep. After deceiving the nation on probing the oil industry, he sets up an inquiry to enrich himself. Nigerians, please lets follow up this case to the latter. There is only one destination for him - Prison. By now, he should be pleading for less sentence by confessing to how and who he shared the bribe with. Because, as e b na only am go carry the Poo. |
Oh this is so sad. I pity her, I pity her family. She would lose everything, her job, her freedom hmmm God. Please oh, obey traffic laws. I am also sorry for the family of the deceased LASTMA official. A huge costly mistake. |
After watching the 200m race and reading this I'm beginning to have doubts. The guys confidence was just too much. Admittedly, he is a fantastic sportsman and I pray he is clean cos that image would go to the drains. |
@Poster there are some opportunities that should not be ignored. You have said money isn't everything. If you still want to remain a mediocre, you can stay in your job earn good salary, get bored, dream about wasting the opportunity and provide for your family. You sound like an intelligent guy and would definitely do well with your studies in Germany. Don't think much about the risk, people complain that there are no jobs yet the best always get employed. Take the offer, you got nothing to loss (all expense paid for), strive to top your class, pray hard and you will get your dream job. Also, try to learn other languages (like french, Portuguese e.t.c), other skills necessary are things you can readily obtain. Go, explore and be an international citizen for your country. God will not forsake you. |
Some bosses especially home grown Nigerians are just terrible persons. Maybe due to inferiority complex, some ignore office duties and engage in office politics. Some fear for their jobs so much that they see their subordinates as potential threat. Hence, indulges in way to eliminate them. |
My advice - Register but don't take the exams because you would not study properly for it. Have your baby, get your maternity leave and then study for your exam. Your mat. leave will also afford you the time to look after your baby. |
Don't shout just tell him not to drive the car anymore |
thank u very much...maybe the woman insulted them in a bad manner or maybe her customers collided nd dealt with them(you know as sapele people take dey behave) am not taking sides..but from my experience in nd with navy..they are trained to be responsible. am talkin from xperience as someone who has gone through their training
Excuse......... me please. I guess I didn't read you well. This issue is the same with a man who beats his wife because the wife insulted or slapped him. The best they can do and according to you referring to Naval Officer are well trained, was to ignore the woman, leave her shop and go eat elsewhere. That is exactly what a normal human being whose brain is intact would do. Trading words with her also reduces you to a mad person, but go to the intent of beating, amputating, using and discharging tear gas ![]() ![]() ![]() ?? My friend please you just hit a nerve. If the Navy has well trained officers, then the training commandant should be fired. |
It is a shame that NLers hijack sensitive post like this that should enlighten people on their rights or make them more knowledgeable and either twist it to a gender war, ethnic war or make fun out of it. To those of you who feel insensitive about this, I hope you tell the Policeman, or the Military man who oppresses you one day that Nigerian men are ill-discipline that is why he is oppressing you. If you don't have any meaningful contribution to share, you better stay quiet and learn rather than spill your beans on public forums. Shame on you. |
Same reason why Nigerian men are ill-disciplined.
This is not a case of gender but one of superiority and power show. Please this can happen to anyone and it does happen every year. Families lose bread-winners to issues like this. This nonsense must stop. The military must respect civilian privileges and rights, as such civilians will pay them the respect they are struggling to get. They should conduct themselves properly and behave like humans. Just over the weekend, I was plying the Eko bridge en-route to Victoria Island, there was traffic, only for me to notice a custom vehicle disturbing the peace with siren and swerving for vehicles to make way. I refused to budge because it is a criminal offense to use sirens in Lagos state (I think the Federal Government issued a gazette on that too). I closely observed the officer in the vehicle, arrogantly making a call and feeling cool with himself and the stupidity of his escort drivers. I shot them a devilish look, hissed and gave way not because I was scared but because the only thing they will tell me if they bash my car is sorry and I felt I should allow the mad fellows go. |
While reading the story I thought the victim was actually young. However, regardless of age, this mayhem from the military must stop. It is a shame that the main objective of the military "to protect the country's border and its citizens" is being violated. Officers like this should be thrown to jail where they can rot away. They are a disgrace to the military and to the nation. This behaviour is peculiar to the Junior staff and officers. It is high time the military talked to their boys on behavioural conduct, rather than unleash dogs to the general populace. The woman should sue the Nigerian Navy as an organisation, sue the chief of Naval staff as the head, sue the female naval staff for perpetrating the act and if she can identify the rest, sue each and every one of them personally for damages. She should also sue for public nuisance (since there are witnesses this will fly), disruption of business and loss of income. The case should not be settled out of court because this is a criminal and civil case. |
Dumb post from a dumb guy. I guess the poster did not graduate from Primary 6. |
I will never forget the red sands of Abakaliki. Indeed the place has some potentials, but it requires some serious development. |
