I believe this thread should not be a means to trade insults but to open our eyes. I deserve to know why the pipe borne water system in Lagos isn't working. I deserve to know why there are more private buses than public buses in Lagos state. I deserve to know why the traffic lights in Surulere, Ikeja, Vi and Lekki are working and other metropolis ain't working. I deserve to know how much Lagos State Internal Revenue generates on an annually basis and how is the fund distributed. I deserve to know why the quality of education in private schools better than that of public schools. I deserve to know why low cost houses are not been provided. I deserve to know why certain areas in Lagos were decorated and some were not looked upon during this festive period. I deserve to know why are the state doctors striking and not performing their duties. I deserve to know all these because I was promised and I pay my taxes. These are questions that requires answers and not road repairs which should be done by Local Government Chairmen. |
ballabriggs: Personal income tax for all Nigerian citizens? You are speaking absolute rubbish!Do I look like your Government? On the Personal Income Tax, please first and foremost go and read the 1999 constitution and then search online for the reduction on Personal Income Tax. I do not exchange words with people, I present facts. If you do have facts please present them. I am no propagandists nor a party supporter. I will stand for the TRUTH and ONLY THE TRUTH. |
seanet01: You need to get off this miserable and pathetic lifestyle of pulling people down. The only IPP project I know was the one constructed along CMS road and was to provide power for street lights around CMS and VI metropolis. I am not frustrated. I pay my taxes never owe a kobo and I demand quality service. Afterall it is my civic right just like it is my civic responsibility to pay my taxes. This is the same government that still receive federal allocation. I want to ask you directly what have you gained from Fashola government? I was at the 2011 Town's Hall Security Forum Meeting where Fashola promised us that Okada will be a thing of the past and that more vehicles would be provided to cater for the public. In 2012 he restricted okada from plying certain roads, no alternatives means of transport was provided. I made a pledge of N10million and deposited to the Security Trust Fund. This 2012 I was invited again and I turned it down because I did not see any improvement nor fulfilment of promises. Fashola is just like every other Nigerian Politicians (NEVER DO WELL POLITICIANS). It hurts when the media blow his trumpet beyond practical words. I know what Private organisations are doing for this State. The little piece of security you are enjoying today is being funded by private organisations. To me Fashola is not working and he better sits up and DO HIS JOB |
blackdream: Any body criticizing BRF should do his research very well to have facts and figures to support his claim.......For me Fashola have done very well and have used the PUBLIC PRIVATE PATNERSHIP to achieve great things and projects in Lasgidi...The Lagos-osborne bridge(the first suspension bridge in west africa)linking lekki to Ikoyi ..Light Rail system...that's enough for me...pls rest your caseFashola should be building more bridges from Island to Mainland to reduce the traffic congestion on 3rd mainland (which is even artificial). He should stop categorizing roads as Federal road. Oshodi-Apapa road is in shambles yet no work has been done because they say it is a federal road. |
As a concerned Lagos tax paying citizen, when I hear Fashola is working I asked how and where and why am I not feeling the impact. Why do I have to run on generator regularly, why do I have to change tyres regularly as a result of bad road, why do I have to spend hours in traffic cause by illiterate drivers, why do I have to go to a private hospital for health care, why do I have to send my kids to private schools rather than public schools. I am not a fan of Jonathan or PDP or ACN or any political holder. However, I want those singing and dancing to the Fashola propaganda to truly ask themselves if they have truly benefitted from Fashola's government. Has the employment rate increase in Lagos? Ngozi Okonji-Iweala declared a reduction in personal income tax for all Nigerian citizens. However, Lagos State inland revenue refuses to comply to the tax reduction. I do not support Okada as a means of transportation, but what are the alternatives in place. Many projects displayed are mainly private driven. Road construction and repairs are local government task, it is a shame for a governor to be receiving accolades for road repairs (whether fashola or any state governor). There is no working pipe borne water system in Lagos. There is no efficient transportation system in Lagos. At this stage, Lagos should be boasting of its on Integrated Power Plant which should actually providing 24hours power supply. Fashola has concentrated more on the cities (Ikeja, VI, Ikoyi, Lekki and surulere) and has abandoned the suburbs. Well what has he even done to those places, repairs of street lights and roads. The Lagos of 1970 is better than the Lagos of today. There is no strategic planning. We have markets springing up in every corner, dirts littering around, miscreants bullying people and lawlessness pooking you on the face. Lagos has everything, a lot was spent on the city when it was the capital city, all the city needs is restructuring and repairs and not construction. The tenancy bill was signed into law and this has resulted to a 100% increase in tenancy rate. Fashola implemented a law without alternatives. He builds housing schemes people cannot afford. It is a shame that I pay my taxes and do not owe the State Government, yet the government cannot cater basic infrastructures that I can utilize. |
Images in a mirror are closer than they appear......there is more than mete the eye....ow many cars did bill gates or oprah post on twitter...buhari built many houses with bank loans....let young guys thank God for the little they have...our so called celebrities are not as they seem to appear..its what they want us to believe that they post on twitter....
He doesn't need to post it to the whole world that he bought a car for the wife. I think thats show off and some sort of arrogance. |
Very interesting!!! I just concluded the 57 pages on the first thread. Chibuzor what is your CAC registration number? Where is your office address or where do you work from? |
Billyonaire: Actually what the people who say "God told me" refer to is the "intuitive conscience". Holy spirit is just a misguided term given to conscience. The theory of Holy Spirit is a religious lie. There was spirit before Jesus and there is Spirit after his dead. Jesus didnt send no Holy Spirit, cos he was dead and buried.I like the way this guy talk sometimes. Without fear no rancour, he says the truth. |
5 Hot African Tech Start-ups To Watch In 2013 There has never been a more exciting time in Africa’s tech start-up community. The sector has reached an unprecedented level of maturity and growth. Africa’s techies and developers are no longer building mobile apps, software and websites just for the love of it; they are adopting a rather aggressive approach towards business planning, commercialization and profitability. Take IrokoTV, for example. The digital distributor of Nigerian movies has famously been dubbed the ‘Netflix of Africa’. When it launched in December 2010, IrokoTV depended solely on Google’s partner program for all its revenue. Not anymore. In May this year, Jason Njoku, the company’s maverick founder, announced that the company would start charging users a $5 monthly subscription fee to access its entire movie catalogue. Similarly, Nairaland.com, Africa’s largest discussion forum, historically depended solely on Google Ads for its revenue. It ditched Google Adwords a couple of months ago to start selling ads directly on its platform. Commercialization aside, innovation still reigns supreme in Africa’s tech community. While some African techies are still developing leisure games and mobile applications (like the remarkable MALIYO Games, which creates casual browser games to share the experiences of everyday Africans with a global audience), others are creating disruptive new inventions that are providing solutions to some of the continent’s most pressing socioeconomic problems. In my opinion, here are 5 spectacular African tech start-ups that are most likely to shake up the continent’s tech industry in 2013: mVerified mVerified is a Kenyan mobile and web-based app that verifies the authenticity of documents such as title deeds, car log books and graduation certificates in the course of transactions. The app simply works by checking the credentials of documents against data stored by Kenyan governmental agencies such as the Kenya Revenue Authority and the Kenya National Examinations Council. Documents that fail to correspond to official records are instantly flagged as potential counterfeits. mVerified can be accessed online via WAP or GPRS-enabled phones. While the system is free to download as an Android application, it costs roughly $7 to make a verification inquiry. Mara Online Mara was founded by Ugandan multi-millionaire tycoon Ashish J. Thakkar in 2012. Mara Online, which is Africa’s first online mentorship social network, connects young, budding African entrepreneurs to established, prominent enterprises and businessmen who serve as mentors. The mentors on the network transfer knowledge and experience to the upstart entrepreneurs in order to help them transform their ideas into sustainable enterprises. Kuluya.com Kuluya is a developer and publisher of online games based in Lagos, Nigeria. The startup develops Nigerian-centric games with substantial focus on African characters and themes. Kuluya already has over 100 games in its portfolio with such quirky titles as Monkey Run, Bush Meat and Zulu and Mosquito. Earlier this year Kuluya raised $250,000 from institutional investors. According to Loy Okezie, publisher of Techloy, arguably Africa’s most authoritative tech blog, Kuluya is poised to ‘provide an ultimate African gaming experience and change the continent’s gaming landscape.’ All Kuluya games are web browser games, for now. BudgIT BudgIT is a civic start-up developed by the team at Co-Creation Hub (CcHub), Nigeria’s premier tech incubator. The idea behind BudgIT is simple, yet profound: to make Nigerian government budgets & public data more understandable, accessible and transparent. BudgIT leverages an interactive platform and creative tools such as infographics and charts to break down government budget allocations in its simplest and most basic form to enable Nigerians at all levels to understand the budget better, thereby stimulating conversations about open governance, data transparency and citizen participation in governance. CorruptionNET Founded by Nimi Hoffmann, a South African social science graduate student at Oxford University, CorruptionNET is an open-source mobile platform that allows citizen reporters to file anonymous journalistic reports to newsrooms about corruption and abuse of public resources. Citizen reporters can report via SMS or MXit, an African social network. http://www.forbes.com/sites/mfonobongnsehe/2012/12/12/5-hot-african-tech-start-ups-to-watch-in-2013/ |
The Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, has begun electricity generation from refuse under its waste to energy programme, an official said. The Managing Director of the LAWMA, Ola Oresanya, said this on Monday in Lagos. “We have waste to energy where we commission electricity from our wastes at one of our markets, Ikosi market. Then we have recycling plants all over that we’ve established. Right now, for plastic recycling centres, we have four centres up and running. The tyre shredding plant is also going on to manufacture rubbers from (used) tyres and apart from that we have several other things that are really going on in that regard.’’ Mr. Oresanya said the waste to energy project would be expanded to cover more markets in 2013. He also highlighted the activities of the authority in the out-going year, saying that the year had been eventful for the authority. “Our core area or new ground has been in the area of recycling that we are pushing and that has been our core focus for the development of Lagos and I think that is one key area where we’ve been creative. “We’ve been able to evolve new strategies to make people recycle in Lagos; to change the perception of people and not to see wastes as waste, so that they will see it as resource and that (buying-back), we’ve been able to do through the introduction of recycling banks all over the city. We have the buying-back programme where people bring wastes and we pay them for bringing the wastes. “That is assorted materials like pure water sachets. Right now, you bring it we pay N30 per kilogramme – paper, pet (broken) bottles and many other things like that. We have the wastes to food programme where we encourage children to bring recycle materials and we exchange that for food packs during holiday.” He said that the core challenge of the authority in the outgoing year was the bad attitude of Lagos residents toward waste disposal. “Lagosians still have this bad habit of throwing wastes from their cars and dumping wastes in unauthorised areas though this has been reducing but it’s been a major challenge and we are addressing it.” http://premiumtimesng.com/regional/110504-lagos-generates-electricity-from-waste-says-lawma-md.html?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=lagos-generates-electricity-from-waste-says-lawma-md |
I am totally shocked at the comments I am reading. To some level it shows how wicked we can be. Many people claim she is looting the treasury and deserves the trauma. First what is your proof, you don't accuse someone without facts and evidence. NOI is passionate about doing something for this country. She is passionate about fighting corruption especially in the Oil Sector and all she gets is kidnapping her mom. Rather than we sympathise and condemn the crime, a cross-section of people are actually praising the kidnappers. I am totally disgusted. I am not extremely glad with NOI because I had high hopes. I thought she would transform the country into an economic power house within a short period. Yet it still shouldn't make me rejoice over the kidnap of her mom. She has done nothing wrong to deserve this and to make it worst people commending the criminals. I pray all is settled soon and mama returns back home unharmed. |
Billyonaire: Kidnapping deserves capital punishment via firing squad. NOI is doing the best to serve this country against all odds and accusations from the very ignorant populace. The Sovereign Wealth Fund and Subsidy Removal are few of the great achievements of NOI. Whoever is behind the kidnap deserves to die via firing squad. These daredevils are trying to steer her off course. It wont work. When will Nigeria be mature enough for State Police ?WORD. But honestly Nigeria do not need State Police. Our Nigerian Police just needs more funding, training and employing mental stable individuals to become law enforcement officers. Our Governors will become demigods; already they are. Add State Police to that and get the picture |
nitrogen: These are the kids and jobless people on nairaland, for real, if you've got nothing to type, then read comments instead of littering this place with rubbish, anyway, you can't be blamed cos u hardly comprehend these shitties.God bless you. I have been reading such irritating comments from these kids. Nairaland is turning to a place where ignorance is been condoned and encouraged. These nuisance, rather than welcome a new topic to enlighten and broaden their perceptions and horizon or uplife the ignorant veil for a paradigm shift, they prefer to make a jest of everything. Are these the new generations we are breeding - the generation that think of Garri? |
bjdon: The fact he may or may not have gained from the system is not the point my brother. The point is the system is WRONG! There are many cases of people changing systems they may have gained from. In the UK the current generation of leaders had their University education system paid for and they actually got grants to go to school. 10 years ago those same people had to cancel the grant because the UK could no longer afford it. They did not say 'hey, I gained from this therefore I can't cancel it' they took the tough option which was in the best interest of the country. That is what leadership is all about. At independence there may well have been some merit in the Federal Character approach to give all sections of the country a sense of belonging, but it has now outlived its usefulness and is actually an impediment to growth and development. Any patriotic lover of the Nation can raise this as SLS has, regardless of if they benefited from it or not.Commenting on Nairaland is now becoming boring. However, you have assisted me to say what I want to say. Thank you. |
Peeps don't get me wrong I am not against Pastors or so called MOG. They have a business to run and like most business owners they are entitled to the benefits associated with owning and running a business especially one that is successful. I'm just bother about the services they provide, what are they truly selling? As a business development manager, it baffles me. If they claim to be inspirational or motivational speakers probably I would begin to see them differently. A church is a non-for-profit organisation (NGOs) and like most non-for-profit, their main aim is to ensure that their members benefit from their products or services and not to make profit. However, with Nigerian churches the reverse is the case, church are amassing wealth, the owners are buying jets, owning schools expanding their business ventures. I have never seen where the President of a non-for-profit organisation amass such wealth (NEVER). Unlike many non-for-profit organisations, where members are entitled to know and have on account how their funds and resources are being deployed, Nigerian churches do not provide such information to their members. Their members are not aware of how their organisation is being managed. I do not want to associate myself with such. |
Those who do not tithe are happy with this one ! Small churches that lack the presence of the holy spirit will also be glad with this one saying;enough with this big churches self ! Ignorant Roman catholics will be happy becos it's against the pentecostal pastors.Muslims will laugh out loud at christians generally saying Allahu Akbau ! Atheist will say;i tell you religion is a sham !Then pentecostals who lack the presence of the holy spirit will give a nod to anything they hear whether it contradicts the word or not. Then baby christians will be confused by now not knowing what to do next. And the devil will be very very happy that things are this way and that he is using all available medium to bring down the children of the MOST HIGH ! But i tell everyone of you, that for the fact that we have fake prophets does not mean that there are no real and true prophets.Hold on to that scripturall beleive of your for Christ cometh quickly !
Will your prophet take you to that your destination - HEAVEN? Are you not ashamed that another man is telling you how to live spiritually. If you feel he hears from God, why can't you hear from God too and if you feel he was chosen, why can't you put yourself in that same light to be chosen and stop being deluded from another flesh like you. I have always told myself that if a man wakes up one morning and claim that he is a man of God, me too would wake up and do same. If you claim you have direct access to God, well I also want that access but not through you (because I cannot make you my idol) just show me the school you attended and I go enrol sharply. But if you feel sey you too sharp and wan collect my money onto God level - You dey dream. Cos I don't pay for God Services. It is available for free. |
Logicboy03: lol....so you tithe for money doubling purposes?OMG!!! I did not want to comment but this really got me laughing...... ![]() |
gbadexy: It is myopic to wish non lagosians out of the state, I'm a lagosian by the virtue of the fact that •̸Ϟ•̸y great grandfather who was a soldier in oyo empire occupying dahomey then decided to stay in badagry. I collect bursary and benefit from all privileges accorded to indigenes.A mind of wealth and positive thought. Well said. It truly bothers me, this ethnicity issue. It is killing our development and burying us in poverty. I support David Mark on the issue of Residency and abolishment of Ethnicity. I was of the opinion that Nairaland was a place for advance minds, however surprisingly I still get to see this ethnicity crap. When a mind begins to conceptualise an opinion of such, I believe such mind is nothing but a low life. Regardless of the anonymous factor attached to Nairaland, a physical review of pro-ethnicity groups will reveal backwards in their lives and perception of things. CHANGE IS A CONSTANT THING. Embrace it, Adapt with it and get use to it. |
manny4life: Capital Oil and AMCON are both playing politics. If they do so. I trust Ubah would start diverting funds. You have to take full ownership. Get your money and get out |
Ice4jez: pay ur loan now if u no like der methodYou don talk am after. Person wey dey owe money no get choice. Debt makes you a slave. |
I am not a Chelsea fan but I have never seen a Chelsea team play with so much flair since I can remember (they can scare the S*H.I.T out of you when they attack). All thanks to Di Matteo. His job was never secured. He should have taken a walk after the Champions League because you are only as good as your last game. Chelsea's woos ain't over yet. They have no striker except they intend to get one. However, with the increase turnover of coaches, I guess the next coach coming to the team would not have reasonably impact. Apart from Mourinho who coached Chelsea with passion, the next was Di Matteo (I have always loved his cool temperament even when his was at West Brom and I pray he gets a Premier League team to coach soon). |
4bobo: [b]WOW, In as much as chelsea fan, i was thinking yesterday that this man will loose his job sooner than later. But to be serious, the coaches are not the problem, it is this abramovich or what ever he calls himself. he is just gambling with coaches and uses them as a scape goat.bring the best coaches in the world to coach cfc together with the same set of players, you will still be beaten, blue black many times. How can you expect a team with no, at least 3 strikers to perform? A team that mid fielders and defenders are the top scorers? a team that sold all their best, experienced players like lampard and drogba with non sense excuses (go and ask baba ferguson why he still kept giggs and co? and see when this guy enter the field, what the game will look like within short period of time), you dont expect such team to perform any where, any time, any day continously.Well said |
@Shymexx is Europe out of the recession yet? Wonder why its taking them so longer to fix the problem with all the advancement and technologies. I saw some guys in Portugal and Greece looking like some peeps in Somalia. The UK govt keeps tightening immigration laws rather than create jobs. Some many jobless youth in the UK. Are you one Shymexx - Must be. |
We thank God. I think the Presidential Chat was cool. Because in just 2 days all I read in papers are good news. Jonathan should be doing this (chat) more often and hear what Nigeria wants. I strongly believe he would be a good President and set the pace for great development in the country. |
Niflheim: @agi-tuedor,the Freemasons do not allow female membership, they take oaths that involve statements like,"if I should reveal the secrets of the Master, may my head be smote off and my brains exposed to the mid-day sun."They also have their own 'Holy Scripture',called Dogmas and Morals written in 1826 by Albert Pike.It talks of Egyptian folklore, magic in Greece, cultism in early Europe.Rotary and Lions have none of these!!!Rotary was formed by masonic brotherhood. (Point of Correction). Charity is very important in Freemason (I forgot to include that in my last post). Even the poor gives. Bill Gates is a freemason and you can see how hard he gives. Please for the OP, if you intend to join because of connection, forget it. |
Niflheim: The closest place I know to me in Lagos is at no 28 Broad Street, and it is called St Georges Lodge No 3065,although when you pass the building, they wrote "St Georges Hall".When you get there, they will simply tell you to get recommendations from 3 of their current members!!! The masonic square and compass are boldly painted on top of the building!!!It is a white and blue building!!!You are right. You don't need recommendation. Just petition for membership by showing up with interest. Though you would go through an interview session and you must also believe in God else no membership for you. Membership fee is N50,000 and you would be devoted to activities. You can go there on a Tuesday (any tuesday). Ask the security man, he would be glad to assist. I wish you well as you seek for Knowledge. May the God of your heart led you. |
Ozonna: Bilms, kindly write down the facts and figures that shows that GEJ is not doing well so that the figures be countered by GEJ's supporters. This post would've been better and more enlightening if you provuded the figures and facts.Well said. Not just waking up, sipping coffee and the taste makes you wanna insult the President. Get some respect. Your post says a lot about your person. An ill-brought up individual. |
Shymmex is a Nigerian-wanna-be. The ones their parents inform that they are Nigerians but do not even know their heritage. That is the main reason he expresses negativity. He doesn't know what it means to be a Nigerian. The sense of Pride Nigerians have anywhere they find themselves. |
lumeneng22: YES we have seen it,our eyes have opened we will never ever vote for a useless party like acn again in lagos God forbid bad thin,Eko ti bajeoooooo! This is not party politics but sanity in the state. Whether PDP or ACN, Okada would be ban because alot of stakeholders will mount pressure on the government. I believe after this phase, the next is to go after reckless commercial vehicles. IMO ban these commercial vehicles and sell the routes to responsible private companies who will renew their licence every 3 years, provide top class vehicles to ply Lagos state. Criminalize street hawking before the hawkers turn criminals and terrorize drivers. |
Very good! Government should build multi-decker parking lots though. Abi wetin una think?
A good way to generate money. Fashola doesn't think. I have always said it I would double Lagos income per month if I become Governor |
