evamum:
Greetings to great mummies, pls my lo pedi. recommends 1ml of vitamin D; that every ebf babies need it. Pls what ur view on this as i have never heard it mention here and heard babies do not require any supplement or drug at early days of life. Pls how wrong am i?
We are 3 weeks plus.

Thanks in advance
I did the same in the U.S. and it was recommended because of dietary needs, every ebf baby is prescribed vit D supplement. When I got back, a doctor told me it wasn't necessary because Nigerian diet tend to be rich in foods heavy with Vitamin D (I i believe he said all the meat we eat compared to the U.S. where they can have salads for lunch daily and it is not like our type of salads). So you can give it for 2 months if you like, it won't harm baby. It is stuff like complex multivitamins that are not recommended, especially when a doctor doesn't recommend it. HTH.

mitchyy,

1. It's called Explosive Poop. The force of very soft poop being pushed out, it releases like a bomb, Gbwaaah! Disposable diapers are made of mostly paper and their backs are very weak. So the best you can do is change his diaper brand: the Molfix you're using may not fit him properly right now (I too had that experience with Molfix, I think the brand has fit issues so it can leak on a baby who isn't the right size). Try Huggies, just get the smallest pack you can find and see if it wraps around his waist snugly.

2. Alphahandmaiden's reply.

3. Air his bum bum a lot. If you have recurring rashes that are very bad, sometimes it could be a yeast infection and no Sudocrem (zinc-based cream) can treat it. You will need an anti-fungal cream like Baby Tribotan. But before you start using an antifungal cream, please Google "baby bum yeast infection" and look at pics of it. So you know If that is what you're dealing it. If it isn't a yeast infection, diaper-free as much as possible, change him frequently and get a zinc oxide based cream (Sudocrem and most thick white diaper creams are zinc oxide based and read the back, they will write that zinc is their active ingredient).

4. It could be cradle-cap. Dermatologists recommend Sebamed baby shampoo, use once a week. But you can use oil, allow it soak in for 30 minutes and comb out the flaky skin gently. Olive oil may be too light, try Coconut oil or Almond oil (the thickest). A small-medium sized bottle of Almond oil (HTC brand) is sold for N900 at ebeano supermarket. Check the food section of most supermarkets for almond oil.

For mums looking for shea butter and other organics, I have been buying from Deji of Sheamapo organics for 2 years now. He has good stuff and is based in Ogun state but ships anywhere. I unfortunately lost his number but I will post his blog and Facebook here

https://sheamapo.

https://free.facebook.com/sheamapo.organics?_rdr

I make my own diaper cream from beeswax, she's and cocoa butter and oils and it used to be that N10,000 worth of product from him was enough to make diaper cream (and body butter) to last at least 2 years (you will never finish the beeswax so you may consider sharing with another mum).

My dear, I have to say business is fine because I am a Christian, any business that can survive this period can survive anywhere. Importers are not importing, those that manage to import cost price will be times 3, it is affecting all product. We import everything in this country for two months now no peak 123 refill in portharcouth. How many can i mention.
My advice to mother's if the milk or diaper you are using is getting to expensive pls PORTING is allowed. How will help us.
There is no Nido milk refill in my area and I've driven as far as Ajah and Iddo markets to find it. It's scary because my mum says this has happened before in Nigeria during our president's first regime (products disappearing from shelves) and one reads about countries like Venezuela (who had almost all the same problems like Nigeria) where people are queuing up for 4 hours to buy milk and I start getting scared. It is well.

Please mamas if you find a product your baby likes, try and buy enough to stock up till like next year and sit out the storm. I've stocked up on Dove soap and will do the same for body lotion (or we switch to shea butter).

Hello there! I know its been a while but could you please direct me to where you pierced your babys ears using a ear piercing gun in Lagos.
Lifeline Children's Hospital tends to use ear piercing guns (though it tends to run out quickly and they charged N5000 for piercing as at last year). They have locations in Surulere and Lekki so you could check there.

if ur custard is watery when prepared, just put it on fire and stir, it will become normal.

Actually, I wanted to reply u since dat yesterday but was busy with d lectures u were giving us.
My dear, I have put it on fire afterwards. It was still watery. You don't understand, the matter needs to be tabled before an Igwe grin

Just prepare it the normal way u prepare custard, in order for it to be properly done u can steam it a bit but not stay too long on fire cos it can turn to swallow. also make sure its not too thick. sorry for not replying on time ma.
Lol, i was joking. Thank you so much. Small confession: I don't know how to make custard. I can make pap, but not custard. It is always watery. I can cook a lot of things but not custard. I have tried all my life, i can even pound yam but not custard. I cannot explain it. lipsrsealed grin

Dressing kids is like trying to dress an octopus, they all of a sudden have 8 limbs. Tiring
8 limbs is easy, try dressing someone who runs across the bed screaming in laughter, waiting for you to come get her so she can run across again, shrieking. If you waste time in getting her, she will pee on your pillow. Because it's soft.

@EfemenaXY, Olohun I want to have twins so she can stop being centre of attention. Which is like using a gun to cure a headache...

To avoid them painting on the wall, give them a designated painting area. Once I got mine, I left all walls in peace. Today I mixed edible finger paint, put her in the bathroom with nothing on and let her unleash her inner Picasso. Afterwards, cleaning up was as easy as opening the shower. Though I snapped lots of pics and oohed and aahhhed so she knew I appreciated her talents.

So I spoke to a friend who recommended Kachifo, www.kachifo.com for buying indigenous books. This is something I am passionate about, encouraging and supporting our own. Please also take a look at them. I know Cassava republic, www.cassavarepublic.biz also sells books for kids by Nigerian writers. Chinese kids read their authors, Austrian kids read their authors, in addition to our foreign books, let's read our local guys. Thanks.

Sabudana Kchidi. Indian vegetarian food made from Tapioca. Cooked during fasting but it's great with baked or fried chicken. You can buy Tapioca from an Indian store or get the Nigerian flakes from Shoprite.

thank you for keeping the thread bouncing, i really appreciate your effort. to all other sabi mamas may God bless you immeasurably.

i want to get books for mine. although i got 2 from CSS bookshop but they only have 2 hardpaper page books and they for alphabets and numbers.

sometimes back you mentions that you give baby E chicken but you dont use regular seasonings. please can you share your recipe?
I add a bit of salt, garlic and ginger, you can try cinnamon and nutmeg. I read recipes online that were boilng fruits like Apple with chicken and turkey, I tried it and it was delicious. We don't use Maggi so I have a lot of spices (regular, Chinese and Indian spices).

So I read a bit more on the painting for kids. It's to encourage Sensory Development. It is actually encouraged as part of Tummy Time (for babies who cry when they are placed down, the paints should distract them and keep them on their tummies).
It's a very simple recipe for edible paint: corn flour, water and good colouring. Or you can try and buy some.

http://www.candokiddo.com/news/2015/1/14/fingerpainting-for-babies

How to make: use the corn flour and make pap. When you've made the pap, add food colouring. That's it.
Be warned, your child will run it on herself and you, so this is a no-clothes activity.

Good day mamas in the house. Please I have a quick question; I bought my lo's formula yesterday,I didn't check the expiry date I was in a hurry(no excuse sha)wanted to open it this morning and discovered its expires next month 17/10 to be precise. Can we still use it?
cc: AlphaHandMaiden,Onegai, soonest, liftedhands and other sabi mamas. Please don't read and pass. Thank you!
Can you exchange it? Try to. But your baby should be able to drink it as long as you can finish it before next month's export date. Buying expired milk happens to everyone due to tiredness or just plain human nature. Don't beat yourself up.

The man is a repeat offender and people have been letting him go. Imagine if the past victims had taken him to the police, this little girl will have been saved. And what mouth can his relatives have to use to beg the family to let him go? Is there no shame in them, is their paedophile son more important than an innocent 2 year old?

Good morning Babythug, Zemaye and Tojued, Evamum and any other mamas with new babies. How goes it?

LiftesHands and ocyzy, DrAda shared here that Peak123 milk was very sugary. Imagine combining it with Nigerian Cerelac and then expecting a weaning baby not to complain when offered Nigerian food (which is savoury and not sweet). I remember in my lactation class our facilitator told us there was no such thing as "Follow-Up milk" for toddlers, that it was a marketing gimmick by companies to sell regular whole milk to children, add sugar and rack up the price from normal milk. Your toddler can drink Dano Full cream or any Fill cream or whole milk.

Thank you Lord for everything. For our lives, for our loved ones, for our children, for the fact that we are here today. We are grateful.

We are sorry for our sins and we come to you repentant. Show us your merciful face, Father.

We welcome you into our hearts today. We pray You perfect everything concerning our little ones. Father, we tremble at the task ahead of bringing up great men and women who work in your sight but You have not given us a heart of fear. Please help us to be good stewards of our children.

We pray for expecting mothers, may they put to bed with ease, may they enter the delivery room and come out with a success story.

We pray for those trying to conceive. Lord, grant them their heart's desire, make them fruitful, put the enemy to shame. We call them "Mothers" because that will be their name soon in Jesus' name.

In these turbulent times, watch over everyone. Grant is our heart's desires according to your wishes. Give healing to those who need it. Help us to take our rightful place in society as Women of Faith and Achievers.

Thank you for always loving us. Thank you, Father. Amen.

Thanks 4 d detailed explanations.
If i may ask pls, whats the essence of d carton, can i sow only d flannel n towel 2geda, since d wipes wil b washed, wount d carton b soaked?
Also, in using d wipes, can i just soak it in water or just only in oil to make it wet?
Pls dont mind my too many questions. Stil tryin to understand.
Thanks alot.
Contem2011 is right, the carton is just for measuring easily. Don't sew the carton inside it please. You can use plain water to clean up but some people feel that they need a bit more cleaning so you mix small soap and coconut oil (which has a lot of nice helpful properties for the skin) in the water and clean. I'll explain more with pics after prayers.

thanks for d reply, what I mean is dat d bombom has a reddish scar like nla and the poo was greenish in color and something like catarrh
Please answer her.

Modified, I think I agree with Blank, maybe it's the constant poop. But don't allow anyone make you take antibiotics unless they have some test to show you it's antibacterial. I checked the search and people said nla is a fungal infection. Would you mind posting a pic of it?

Hmm, I can't remember what nla is again o. But this sounds like 2 unrelated incidents. How often do you change diapers, what do you currently use in changing diapers and what diapers? As for the green poop I know it has been discussed here but honestly I can't remember. Sabi mamas?
