Lies... He should list the names of the so-called people. 1. He feels hurt that youths binned his Yellow/Orange berets Revolution now protesters. What 99% protesters want is the end to Police brutality. We are still in a democracy and if Buhari is to be removed. It would be through Legal means or wait till 2023 and vote in another person. And as for Sega...he seems to have a bit of Hero Complex. Yes you have doing good but you can't keep on disparaging the efforts of others and tagging them cults. |
Adaorababy:Which protest is over? Nairalanders should be the one to atune to change. There are still Protests in Abuja, Lagos, Warri as i am speaking . And for those claiming SARs has been disbanded. That's just mere talk. Not a single action has been taken to show empathy and understanding from those ruling so the Protest has to continue. Has the IGP remorsefully apologized for all the deaths and harassment caused? Has he visited families of slain protesters? Has he at any point brought any SARS official or erring police officer to book? Have all Protesters been released unconditionally? Those are questions that speaks volume about "seeing action" and not just words. |
omooba969:We have a lot of mad people in the country. They are just not aware and mentally corrupt. Imagine saying the victim of intimidation should marry her abuser? Like where do these people crawl out from? |
paulolee:She wasn't forced or whatever but the dynamics of such relationships is way beyond mutual. That is why it is illegal and highly frowned upon. The lecturer wields a lot of power over his student and it is nearly impossible for the lady to turn down his advances without a fear of repercussion. So even if it is not mutual for her, she has to play along to salvage her future. Would you say no to someone who would determine whether you come out with a Pass or 2:1? Also it muddles the integrity of whatever system you have in place. You think the Lecturer would be fair when marking the script of a lady he is seeing? How would you feel if you were a male student and you failed the Lecturer's exam but the Lady in question passed and you sure knew she didn't merit the pass? There are a lot of things wrong with such relationships that's why it should be banned and should be illegal. I think Nigerians need to look at the bigger picture and open their minds. We have been so corrupted that absolute wrongs like this seem natural and normal to us. You would be silly to blame the victim. The adult here was the lecturer and he should be punished. |
The mods that push these kind of things to the Frontpage need serious help. Continue celebrating absolute mediocrity. There is population explosion everywhere. A government with common sense would be creating new communities, opening up completely new roads to remove bottle necks on the others even if those infrastructure would be tolled. Those are what we call Infrastructural revolution. The same silly pictures you posted, there's potholes on that same ozumba road by the law school traffic light and failed sections after Radisson Blu. Even inside VI, Ahmadu Bello way from Bonny Camp to Federal Palace is littered with bad sections. Don't let me even list the inner roads that are not motorable. That's inside VI o. Isolo/Ejigbo axis where millions live have to use a single dilapidated road constructed in 1970 as an exit. From a Town planning perspective imagine you have a major event or accident (tanker rolling over or sinkhole in the middle of the road)on the Lekki Epe Expressway. How would hundreds of thousands living towards Ajah access the Island or Mainland when there is just a single road leading to these areas? Fixing such is what you call infrastructure development. You stupid lots just come to talk rubbish online. You guys should read a book, check Google maps on how other cities are planned at least those are cheaper alternatives to traveling more from your localities to see what things are in other saner climes before opening your mouths. 90% of Lagos inner roads/street roads are not motoroable. Fixing 50% would be termed infrastructural development not paving a road . Don't let me bitch slap you this early Sunday Morning. |
Nigerians are such gullible people. The way people talk and analyse things yoy would understand clearly they have near 0 IQ. This election wasn't about God fatherism. The election was more about the people and the options available and stop comparing Lagos to Edo or whatever. The circumstances were clearly different. One was pushed out because of incompetence, Obaseki was pushed out because he didn't play ball but had good works to show the people. Even if Ambode had the candidacy of APC , the margin of win would have been very narrow as he had lost too much goodwill. Go ask workers at Alausa back then how they felt or how terrible the inner roads around Lagos were and how smelly Lagos had turned to with the Visionscape scenario. As posh as VI was, garbage was piling up on the streets. So he had zero leverage to even fight back. So kid yourself about God fatherism being dead, as long as we do Money politics and limit the access of people by having a non progressive electoral and political system, God fathers would always reign. |
thorrvik55:Wrong. The structure of payment was why. Werner's release clause required all payments to be made upfront which Liverpool claims not to have. The Jota agreement is arranged in such a way that we pay only £4m this year and the rest spread across the timeline of the contract. This makes much more sense financially in a year where coronavirus would affect gate fees and other sources of income is not guaranteed. |
jmoore:If you were discerning enough and not just rushing to respond you would understand the free in my post was alluding to politicians promising Nigerians free good roads, water supply, electricity and education just to win elections when in reality such does not exist. What doesn't government subsidize in Nigeria? Mention one single thing and look at their state. Education? Health? Don't people buy hand gloves and toiletries for government hospitals? Aren't kids carrying personal chairs and tables to public schools? If you were adept about the happenings around you , you would understand that a large section of Nigerians are far removed from the realities of what the cost of things are because of government subsidies. Just read a newspaper from last week and see all the threats of strike actions and backlash because electricity was to be moved to N56 per kilowatt. I say it again. When people(both the followers and leaders) are ready and willing to pay the real cost of Power. You would get 24hours light. |
It is simple. People want to pay for an Uber Ride with the tfare of a danfo bus while enjoying the comfort and AC of the Uber. You might be able to get that workingn with massive subsidies or someone offsetting the costs. Without such subsidies, who services the Uber? Fixes the AC and fuels the car? That nice ride would soon turn to a danfo bus. Electricity is expensive and until the sector is completely liberalised to the point where the coys can get guarantees on their investments and Nigerians willing to pay for such services we won't have stable electricity. You can keep whining yourself and let another scammer come promise you free electricity. The realities is far from such utopia. |
texazzpete:Exactly. What is the exit plan? Be your own boss doing what? Driving the Car? What is the Plan B? What happens if the small biz he wants to invest in doesn't yield anything. 91% of startups fail in their first year. Takes about 3 years for more than 60% to break even. How long would 1M naira sustain the biz in such scenario? Same 1 Million naira he is banking on buying a car from which means at least 70% is going to be for purchase of a car and 30% for the side business. What is in for her? Should she wait for a man who cowers at the face of challenges and is comfortable settling for less? Yes it is a trying time but let's flip the die. You have a girlfriend who is a lawyer. She loses her job and has some savings, comes home to tell you she is now into some small biz and selling Paraga and Jedi with a basin and wooden table at the motor park in the evenings. Won't the OP question her and also ask why he would be with such a person? Abeg OP, drop the number of the Girl. I have lots of friends who would appreciate a lady like that can see the future and galvanize them to do more. |
jay7:Not a transporter but if you have ever owned a car and take a cursory look at the lives of those drivers you would understand how that job is an endless pit of money down the drain. 90% of mechanics out there know nothing coupled with fake parts, over aged cars and very terrible road networks. The card is stacked against you as a driver in such circumstances. Most giving figures are arm chair analysts who have never ventured into a biz in real life. They think once you own a car and put into biz . You are set for a killing. Lol. They would learn the hard way. |
skimena:She maybe right. Yes there is money in the transportation business but you would lose so much in terms of good health, mental balance and strength that any money you make from driving would be spent on medical bills and stress induced fatigue. Also what ever car you are buying would definitely be Nigerian used. For a less than 1 million naira car i am sure you would spend more days at the mechanic shop than driving the car. Have you factored in wear and tear? State of Nigeria roads? Agbero and touts you would have to contend with? Also i am sure you would be buying a saloon car which can only ferry max 4 people. No matter the number of turns you make you cannot make ends meet from such as the car is not configured for mass transportation except you would be charging premium fees which is impossible given the circumstances. You can sit down and do the maths. Let's say you do runs around Surulere in Lagos. Max fare in Surulere is 100 naira per run. That's 400naira per trip. 100 naira would go to the Agbero. 100naira on fueling the car for such trip. You are left with N200. You would need to make 10 trips to make 2k which is impossible given the timing you intend to run it. Guy better keep that money and sleep over things for months before making a decision on things. Else you would regret it. 1 million is like chicken change in this current Nigeria. 3months and you would be back to square one stuck with a rickety car, empty account balance and terribly fatigued body. Your ex might be right in pushing you to use your brain as a graduate. Not everything is about she not wanting you to hustle. Hustle with sense. |
May their soul rest in peace. Thes are risks of living in Nigeria a country with brainless fools parading as Leaders. Anyone who has passed that Ilasa knew it was a disaster waiting to happen. You have an express with a 3 lane road and due to the fact that HiTech(the silliest construction company ever) completely closed down the other side we now have buses facing one way and leaving only two lanes for on coming cars. Out of those two lanes, one is used by commercial buses to drop alighting passengers at the junction and the other is left for cars coming from Isolo heading towards Mile 2 and Cele at top speeds. If you have two cars approaching that junction at the same time you would definitely have such accidents. Not being pessimistic but unless that road is redesigned and something drastic is done expect more of these to happen at bottlenecks on that road like Iyana Isolo and Ilasa. Every single time i have had to drive through that point it has always led to either almost an head on collision with a suddenly appearing car driving one-way or having to slow down or abruptly stop because only a single car can pass though. Imagine having all these rickety trailers with bad breaks at your back. I have to to always keep to the extreme left to avoid such now. I can't fathom how you are constructing an expressway in a largely residential area and would not factor in bus lanes, lay-by and parking for motorists. Seems we have stupid people in all facets of the country. |
UDUJ:We have zero safety standards. Honestly these are basic things that are standard procedures and I don't know why we believe we can always cut corners around such. You would see people climbing high rise building without harness. Maybe because there aren't claims or lawsuits for injuries at work. Maybe if these companies have paid out Billions in fines for work place safety incidents they would take a 10k safety boot much more importantly. |
No Safety boots. Wearing All Stars on a construction site ? Working on a construction site with heavy equipment and no safety boot is a big no no no. Borino Prono is too big for this shit show. Except they outsourced this part to external companies and those aren't their employees but notwithstanding, you own the site and should enforce rules. Also are they just fixing expansion joints alone? And that would take six months? Like I thought they were fixing the Pillars themselves and reinforcing it. ![]() |
Banks in Nigeria are fucking sharks killing businesses. Can you imagine interest on the loan for a tenure of 6months? That 142k interest on 390k collected is almost 40% interest rate for a loan of 6months. There is no legitimate business in the world you do to make even 50% profit in a year let alone in 6months. And that's just a microfinance bank. After we now talk someone would say the Youths are lazy and you should farm or establish a biz. Are we so far removed from the realities of the country and how things are setup to automatically make you fail? |
BigIyanga:Interest? That's a convenient lie he just made. The Judge was the sole signatory to the Account and her kids listed as Directors. They didn't even have a physical address and the one listed were non existent. So let's even assume you bought iron rod. From what address? Abeg the lie no jive. |
kutchs:Sorry to say but you lots are daft. The 29 Ebutte metta Lagos address given was none existent. At least if he was buying iron rod then at least they should have a physical address where the iron rods were warehoused. When Justice Ajumogobia was quizzed she gave 3 different accounts of why she received 5million. How convenient that you paid 5milliom to an account of a presiding Judge in a case you were handling. The cosmic way had to just align so perfectly for that to happen. These are the lawyers you are claiming to be making allegations against Magu? If anything this clearly points to the fact that Magu is indeed innocent.
|
Xisnin:Sorry to say but are you daft or what? Banks even though they are private owned are subject to regulatory scrutiny and are treated like public entities because they are "critical aspects" of a nation's economy. For every loan above a threshold given there are checks and balances to it. Goes against all ethics of banking if loans are paid out without due diligence. Why is the NDIC insuring bank deposits with public money if the Banks would flagrantly go against rules that can make them go under? 4bn is almost 20% of the minimum capitalisation of a bank. The fact that an ED got such is staggering. How many of such have they loaned out? That's the first red flag. Secondly that he was involved in Money laundering and the Board of the bank didn't immediately dismiss or suspend him pending the outcome of the investigation is a telling factor that they were complicit in the act let alone to avail him loans to pay the shortfall of the proceedings. His claim that he didn't know the source is not excusable for someone with such experience and understanding of the sleaze in the country. Also, if an account received any amount above a threshold they are to report it to the NFIU. Did First bank do this for the alleged transaction? If you know nothing please fuc.king keep shut. I don't go to this length but the repeated rubbish you were typing in here felt repulsive. |
Oga drop the contact of Mr Laibe make i upgrade my Accord to 2020 version ![]() Interesting story. Would love to see the end product. I just hope you aren't doing any abnormal suspension lifts or adjustments. |
This is how you know people doing the act of criticism for ulterior motives. When you court controversy over sensible discourse then it shows what you are all about. I understand she might be a bit too passionate but please critic things with common sense not everything you talk or pass comment on. |
gbaskiboy:Connect the dots. If Mali descends into a War zone without a stable government the spillover won't affect Mali alone. We would see worse of what Boko Haram is doing in the North East currently. Up to a decade since Libya went under, we are still reeling from the loss of control there. Libya would be a child's play to what Mali would cause. Boko Haram, ISWAP , Al Nasru are trying to create a stonghold in the Sahel region loosing Mali would afford them the necessary Launch Pad for such ambitions. No West African country would be spared. |
directonpc:Opera. I have headache and eye strain staring at white backgrounds or anything too bright. Opera still the best for dark mode browsing that fits what i want. Tested Chrome, Firefox, Samsung browsrr and Tor but the dark mode on those were still too bright for my eyes so i have stuck to Opera Mini. You can compare how Samsung browser displays Dark mode on the left and Opera on the right in the image. The bowser to the right is much more soothing to stare st which happens to be Opera Mini

Excuses we tell ourselves so we can't have a more just world. We have thousands of hardworking people who do all the right things but just can't catch a break because of how rigged against them the system is. Graduates shouldn't have to master 15 skills before they can land an entry level job or enjoy basic necessities of life. Yes education isn't a means to an end but at least the pathway to basic living shouldn't have you learning all the tricks in a 10000 page book. Someone stated he earns 8k from a teaching job in another thread. Please pray tell how you expect someone who earns such measly sum that isn't even enough to feed a 3year old kid monthly let alone a full grown adult to save and establish a biz or go into the so called "lucrative farming" . We can all go on and tell ourselves lies rather than look inwards and ask for a more just society where wealth is to an extent evenly distributed and not stacked in the hands of some few in the society. |
SirWarlock:Even the stats isn't comprehensive enough. We can't even pinpoint the pre existing conditions those who died of the viruses had. Average days spent in Isolation by each infected person or people in critical care. ASUU is out there fighting against laws to criminalize the sexual relationship between lecturers and students. |
Originalsly:Sorry to hear about your experience . Lots of stories about loss of strength months after testing negative and even reoccurring symptoms they had when they were positive and battling the virus. That's why we more than ever need to try and stop the spread and prevent getting infected as much as possible even for young people. We may never know the full extent of its after effects until a few years from now. As for vaccines, we just have to hope they do enough rigorous testing and there aren't any side effects and if any it is temporal and outweighs the potential damage getting Corona virus brings. |
To all those dumb fools saying they don't care about it. This is exactly what we say. What do you know about the long lasting damage the virus would do? You can get healed of it because you are young but what if it damages your Lungs irreparably or 20 years you just drop dead with brain aneurysm caused by having had Covid19? |
Nigerians lack of safety precautions takes another life. We are so cut off from reality that we like to risk everything and throw caution to the wind. I am sure the shop owners knew of the wire and instead of spending 1000naira which is $3 to fix the cable properly or provide insulation they chose to leave it that way. Now look at the consequences of such action. Every single day we see these things but we choose to ignore them. Was speaking to someone about the lack of proper caution signs and lightening on the road Hi-Tech was constructing along Apapa-Oshodi road and they made it seem like I was out of my mind. Until an avoidable accident happens and claims the life of people before there is an uproar to fix such. |
jackyraw09:It isn't that different overseas.. Just that they have more course work in terms of practical classes and much more streamlined course content. You can't do a broad CS in most Universities overseas. It has to be a key area, Web development, Multimedia, Information systems or of recent cyber security or security systems. This gives you a much more narrow range in terms of expertise instead of doing everything from Fortran to Laplace transforms. CS is extremely wide and the way we teach in Nigeria is just where the trouble is . It needs to be unbundled to individual course content before students can appreciate it better. I redid a course last year which was targeted at 1st year students of computer science in the UK and difference in what i learnt was way advanced and useful than all i did in 100level to 200level here. In Nigeria we were bogged down with Plant biology, Physics and chemistry and i did only 2 CS courses in 100level here which was grossly inadequate. Most of what i know now were leveraging what was taught and going further to seek more but you can't discard the basis it gives you. There is a clarity of purpose when you really studied CS. Why we think someone learning programming is much more better is because we don't use IT that deep. If you worked on embedded systems and you start understanding how low level machines react to every bit of code you wouldn't discard your understanding of Machine Language you learnt in CS and this can apply to everything from arrays to pointers. |
Anonime1105:Absolute bullshit You can learn whatever outside the four walls of the classrooms but a CS degree is far beyond just writing codes that this self taught courses gives you. I can bet a lot of all these so called "Software engineers" don't even know what data structures are which is the basic building block for all programming languages. I still have to sometimes reference my 2nd year text books on primary keys in projects. Now imagine someone who never even glossed through it. That things have been abstracted to the point that you can drag and drop doesn't make you more knowledgeable than someone who understands the inner workings of the system. I would take a CS graduate with a few years of experience programming than a so called " established self thought programmer". In the long run the difference is extremely clear. The western world made the mistake in the early 2000s trying to outsource software development work to Indians who self taught and didn't go to traditional schools. When the quality of work dropped and the turn around time in terms of what jobs were completed and the errors they had to fix after. No one told them before they started withdrawing such critical aspects of the Software dev cycle from their hands and looking at home made CS graduates. The same issues happens in the GIS field with people who just learnt how to use QGIS on Udemy believing because they can draw maps they are better than someone who studied the basics of stastiscal analysis for years before laying hands on the tool itself. What most of these courses don't teach you is why are you doing the things you are doing. They only show you how. That's a big gap of knowledge that still needs to be covered for you to be fully certified as a knowledgeable person in your field which sadly is something most self taught won't dabble into to learn more about. The question is would you give the Civil engineer who understands concrete and sand ratio, soil analysis the job of building an important bridge in your city or give the job to someone who learnt over YouTube that if you are building a bridge you just have to add 50% cement and 50% sand to the beam to make a bridge without considering that each environment has their own peculiarities? |
9PBLIVE:Not everything is the way it is. There might be servicing options and parts warranty that come with it. When we procure Laptops, each costs almost twice what you have on the market because of add ons, extended warranties and a lot of extra package a regular Joe won't buy. Those things can double costs, also consider shipping and Contractor profit. |
