I do understand your assertions and great advice you gave there but sometimes depressing feelings are not just triggered by a sudden action they are sometimes a result of months or even years of pent up sorrow and sadness. Give for example someone who's been rewriting an exam many times without success... If that person feels depressed about such a situation and takes a walk or goes outing. This will not take the sorrow or problems away. We have just been able to postpone such problems till another day.They return back to the same problems they took a break from.
What i will just advise her is to get in here and explain better what she is passing through so that peeps can understand her predicament and be able to help her better.

Extract it anywhere and remember the location...

Go to your control panel and in device manager find the yellow question mark beside the pci device...Right click on it and select reinstall driver and then point to where you extracted the file you downloaded...It might ask you twice so just point to the same location where it is downloaded and all will be fine...It will install with no errors and then take your original driver CD and install the audio drivers and you will have sound...

Dmdcad..even if am not interested in her food what about when you start having kids. sleeky8: The fan is not making any unusually noise and the base of the laptop is hot. It does not restarts itself, it just shuts down and there is no error msg. If I turn it on, it works for lak 45mins and then shuts down

symptoms of over heating. The vent might be clogged making it difficult to ventilate the board properly and when it over heats system protection kicks in shutting it down to prevent component from burning.

honeric01: I have tried this and it worked well, but as soon as i instal my norton anti virus, it goes back to crashing again. this anti virus is not alien to my laptop so i am not sure why this is happening now.

some users of norton anti virus have complianed of same. It might be due to some conflict. Best option is to uninstal the norton and get another anti virus or mace you get a norton anti virus thats compatible with your system.

we always forget the root cause of these acts. Government's negligence in prosecuting crimes. People seek justice but none is given and they believe the system has failed them. Somwhere alongside your computer is a switch that enables/disables wireless.
It should have the word Wireless next to it, on the top of your computer.
If the light is blue, wireless is enabled. It it is red, it is not. it

Pls flip d laptop upside down and look for the full model number, for example
compaq cq50-124. each model is different. vista or windows 7

the full model no is presario cq50 110US vista. The wireless button is always red

it should be blue and not red for the wireless to work.

click the windows key on your keyboard then type hp wireless assistant. Select the option that displays that word you type. Yhen it pops up click enable wireless or it might be turn on thats there. Just select it. Should work now

When I plug in my modem to connect to the internet, even without opening any browser my data usage is unbearable. A program is downloading on the background I don't seem to get. I have disabled windows update and check startup prog yet can't figure out what is consuming the data. Please I need urgent help on how to disable this program.

please take a screenshot of your task manager. Do the following. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL click on task manager. Maximize the task manager page,click the process tab, connect your modem then take a screenshot or picture of the task manager page. Upload here, then i would inform you on the applications you need to disable.

when you log on. Click the windows key and type system restore. Go to system restore and restore the system to a previous date. Go through google to see how to perform system restore.

i guess it hanged while using it and you probably had external devices like usb devices connected when it happened. Simple explanation of what happened is that your system still has those device location logged into memory and still requesting for a memory address thats non existent.

Simple thing you need to do is to start in safe mode. By pressing f8 when the system is restarting. Select safe mode and boot into it. Do a system restore in safe mode by typing system restore in the start menu. Follow the instruction to the end and restart the pc. Your system should be back online. If this does not work get back here.
