Sports / Re: Go Away And Dont Come Back, Caf Tells Togo by onijogbon(m): 4:17pm On Jan 12, 2010
i think CAF as well as the Angolan organizers of the competition are to be blamed for this incident regardless of the mode of transportation the team utilized.

why did CAF allow Angola to host the competition in the first place knowing fully well that there's instability in that country?  undecided

and why did the Angolan organizers schedule matches in a war zone?  undecided  if that's not involuntary man slaughter, i don't know what it is.

whether the Togolese team went against a directive (if there was any) that forbade travelling by road is besides the point.

i'm sure they have their reasons for choosing that mode of transportation.

but for CAF to blame them for their loss and refuse to allow them back into the competition is not only callous but very concerning.

only in Africa. . .
Politics / Re: REPORT: President Yaradua Is Dead? by onijogbon(m): 7:10pm On Jan 11, 2010
What's the difference between his been dead & brain dead seeing NEXT says he cannot recognize no body? Huh Huh Huh
Don't allow those in government take you for a dumb ride!

firstly, the article never said anything about him being brain-dead but rather brain-damaged. . .ya need to pay attention next time olodo.

secondly, there's a BIG difference between him being brain-dead and being brain-damaged.

the chances of a brain-damaged person recovering is far higher than a brain-dead (pretty much dead) person .

so, yes, there's a difference between the two.

and lasty, i could give rats yansh about those in government cause guess what, they don't think for me and unlike some, i don't rely on them as my source of information.

i'm only disputing the claim because it can't be substantiated not because the government says so.

so, your insinuation that i rely on the corrupt naija govt. for information is ludicrous!

JJM:

There is nothing revolting or disgraceful about what he did in comparison to other atrocities. We live in a world where every Taboo has been broken and boundaries crossed. I am not saying it is not a criminal act i.e the act of deception etc but in the grand scheme of things and (in my own opinion) should not be crucified.

Common people, if gay people are now allowed to "marry", daughters are being raped and impregnated by their fathers, children are being used for money rituals, body parts being sold openly for money rituals, brother sleeps with sister(knowing that they are related or not), animals are sleeping with humans, the list goes scarily on. WHAT MORAL BOUNDARIES DO WE HAVE LEFT?.

As sad as the moral aspect of this matter is, as far as I am concerned, though wrong, it is understandable as long as it has not crossed the boundary of sleeping together or any other sinister thing. The legal aspect is different as this is a crime and if found guilty should face the consequence.

I accept that everyone is entitled to their opinion but once again I say, we need to get off our high horse on this issue and check ourselves. We are so quick to judge yet we all have at least one skeleton in our cupboards.

correct yarn JJC! ba mi so fun all the can-never-do-wrong, na me holy pass, judgmental hypocrites for this NL jare.  nonsense!

Less than 48 hours after the State Security Service (SSS)  smashed a kidnap syndicate in Benin, a United States of America based Nigerian medical doctor,  Kenneth Oyarebu, has been abducted.
The kidnap  occurred weekend, between Iyirekhu and Ughuedu, at South-Ibie, in Estasko-west Local Government Area of Edo State.Oyarebu's kidnap is coming on the heels of the kidnap of Ekpoma branch chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Nath Inegbedidon, along with his three children, who were later rescued by the SSS, while acting on a tip-off.
Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASPPeter Ogboi, said he was yet to be briefed on the matter by the Police Area Commander, Auchi.
The abductors are yet to contact Oyarebu's relations for ransom demand.
Similarly, an attempt by a vulcanizer in Auchi to allegedly kidnap his apprentice was foiled by the apprentice who had to jump out of the vehicle when he noticed that he was being taken to an unknown destination.

LadyT:

Oh please why take him to a doctor he is not mad people just get a grip we have the tools to train our own children.  He is just a naughty boy.  You need to spend a lot of time with him and give him punishments. Like making him stand in a corner for a long time when he does something he should not do.

You should STILL SMACK HIM if after many warnings he does not listen but maybe change the smacking into punishments like standing on one leg and finger for 20mins or kneeling down and raising his hands.

You make sure you explain to him why he is being punished and that you love him very much you just want him to grow up and be a good person.  Everyday when you take him to school you tell him how to behave and you commend his good behaviour and let him see how happy you are when he does something good.  Buy books and toys and sit down and read with him and play with him.  Do activities together where he will have to concentrate even if its for short periods of time.

Make sure he has a daily programme he eats at certains times and goes to bed when you say even if he refuses to sleep you shut the door and turn out the light.

And his diet please cut out all sweets and sugary drinks these should only be treats.

He is not a monster he just has a strong personality that needs to be tamed.  You gave birth to him and by Gods grace you will train him dont fear!

this makes more sense than all the yeye lead rant that stripper abi wetin she dey call herself sef dey yarn o jare.

abeg, no mind am o jare . . .u be correct babe wey get sense.

Outstrip:

LadyT your response to the serious issue is just typically Nigerian. You need to read between the lines here. She said her child is behaving "somehow". A mother's instinct is usually right. He is hitting people and his classmates are scared of him. He is putting everything in his mouth and she has a hard time getting him to focus. Please do not deprive this child from getting the early intervention he needs. You just ignored the serious issues and focused on the bad behavior. I don't even know what to say to you. Would you sit back and keep beating your child when the child shows this sort of behavior. You will not. It is always easier to say spank the child than do the difficult work of finding the problem and working to solve it.

since when has it been wrong to be "typical" naija (as u put it) even when you're making sense?

so na all the jagbajantis wey oyinbo don take brainwash u wey u dey yarn na hin make sense?  pickin dey act out, u don quickly wan label am like oyinbo go do.

for all you know, this boy might just be longing for a figure since the OP never mentioned anything about the child's father i.e. if he's in their lives or not.

all that go see behavioral therapist yarn na bologna! every pickin different in their own way but it's the parent's responsible to monitor their activites especially what they watch on t.v. and the kind of language the parents use around them.

@ OP, i agree with most of what LadyT stated above especially the part of rewarding him for good behavior when (don't forget that!); you'd be amazed what difference that will make.
