Umunne m, I really don't think that frosbel being Igbo is relevant at all in this discourse. I even thank him for bringing us this news. We need to know what is happening in Northern Nigeria and how it is affecting us. If we don't know what is happening, how can we ever know when it would reach our land? Do you think this will stop in the North? Though I don't like the fact that there are still Igbos in the North (ndi nti ochi), I would use their plights (yes I would because ha adighi anu ihe! ) to read the tealeaves of events, and then take adequate measures to prepare.Let's keep focus on the REAL issues here. Thank you frosbel! |
jason123:Yes I can support it because it is the truth. BEFORE cocoa and groundnuts ever came into the picture, there was OIL PALM which the British companies traded for many years and found it too irresistible that they formed a company around it. That company effectively became Nigeria later. Anyone who does not understand this, knows nothing about Nigeria and why the British are doing what they are doing in Nigeria. |
SILAKABUWA:lol, this SILAKABUWA character is high on some cheap drug. Stoopid conspiracy theorist. This SE/SS rapport and oneness is really upsetting some of the old parasites in Nigeria. They are really restless! chai! Any person from SE/SS must be wondering why these guys are restless. SW has been working CLOSELY with Hausa/Fulani from 1967. They enjoyed hidden power sharing until Jonathan showed up (by sheer luck), and started to shake things up to favor everybody. Now they are protesting. Most of Nigeria's oil ONSHORE is in IGBOLAND from Imo/Abia to Rivers. Anambra has over 1 billion barrels of oil untapped. Just for your thieving information. Now that subsidy is gone for good, maybe we can start tapping it after Orient refinery comes on stream. SUBSIDY MUST GO! ![]() @Topic I hope y'all see why I keep saying that protesters of subsidy are liars and pretenders. The main issues (Nigerians killing Nigerians) are firmly under the carpet, and they want us to protest against a policy that will finally stop their thieving activities. AIN'T HAPPENING FOLKS! March against mass murder and terror! ![]() |
Beaf:"Nwanne di na mba" literally means "a brother found in foreign lands" or a "a brother encountered while living abroad". Means a foreign brother or Neighbor brother. @Sam_Ikenna Thanks bro! ![]() We do our best to keep the truth in the front lines always. |
I don't blame them. It is in their best interest until everything settles down again. I would want Igbos in the North to return home too until all these calm down. |
One_Naira:Thank you bros. ![]() They would NEVER protest over REAL ISSUES. They want to indirectly remove Jonathan. Well, they should do so frontally, lets see what would happen. These p.u.ssy -footing and hiding under fuel subsidy will only deceive foolish people. My advise continues to be STAY AWAY FROM THESE RALLIES. THEY ARE NOT THE SOLUTION TO OUR PROBLEM IN NIGERIA. |
2mch:The Nigeria that you used to own is no more my friend. It ended when Jonathan entered. When he is done, you will not recognize it again. Subsidy is GONE FOR GOOD. Live with it. It's your business what you do with this thread. Mine was to let you know that most of you are dying in your land silently. ![]() |
2mch:You will not see us come out because we are far smarter than y'all can ever be. There are FUNDAMENTAL problems in Nigeria, and no one is interested in them. What y'all are interested in is some opportunity to topple a man you hated for nothing from day one. YOU WILL NOT SEE A SANE IGBO NEAR THOSE RALLIES. ![]() If you start demonstrating for RESTRUCTURING OF NIGERIA or SNC, you will see us in numbers. So, carry go. Meanwhile, I know that this Fulani/Yoruba trouble or Fulani/Others problems will never end in Nigeria. More lives will still be lost tomorrow. Pathologically dishonest folks. |
Here is my take. For many years now, there have been series of Fulani herdsmen vs others in different parts of Nigeria. In most cases, these skirmishes have led to loss of lives. Each time that happens, it reminds me of the REAL ISSUES in Nigeria. The issues which hypocrites have stoutly refused to address. That is the issue of indigene/Settler conundrums in different parts of Nigeria. Lives continue to be lost in these conflicts, but I don't see NLC or any other group going out to march. Boko Haram has been detonating bombs in Northern parts of Nigeria killing many innocent people. I still don't see anybody calling for mass action to stop them/force the government to stop them. Now, dishonest activists are out there baying for blood over a policy, the impact of which many argue may not be as bad as it is being portrayed. When some of us refuse to support it and insist on a fundamental solution to all the Nigerian problems, those groups call us all sorts of names. Why not organize a mass action to restructure Nigeria and solve all these nonsense problems which are soluble by simple constitutional amendments? The day y'all will get serious, we will know! Here I stand! |
Okay this is what a commentator said: DanielJustice This is an attempt to claim land in Yorubaland, and must be resisted with MAXIMUM FORCE. There is definitely a campaign by the Fulani for more territory in Nigeria, and they are going about it in a very direct fashion. They had better start packing out of Yorubaland. If the Yorubas know what's good for them, they'll send them packing now, or else these people will claim their land and become the "indigenes" as they're doing in Nassarrawa, Benue and Plateau states now!!! Yoruba, shine your eyes. Hopefully, you people are not stupid enough to think that these are just a few angry herdsmen. THIS IS A CAREFULLY PLANNED WAR FOR TERRITORY, AND THEY ARE COUNTING ON THE STUPIDITY OF NIGERIANS FOR ITS SUCCESS. |
Ogun wades into Yoruba/ Fulani killings By DAUD OLATUNJI ABEOKUTA—Ogun State Government yesterday waded into the crisis between Fulani herdsmen and Yoruba communities in Yewa-North Local Government Area of the state following the recent fracas over grazing rights. At the meeting, the two warring groups were urged to sheathe their swords and embrace peace. Skirmishes were said to have occurred in communities like Eggua, Igan-Alade, Igan-Okoto, Igbogila, Imeko, Imala and Iselu towns during which property worth several millions of Naira were reportedly destroyed and unspecified number of people killed. Present at the meeting were the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee for Yewa-North Local Government, Kunle Elegbede, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Sola Akinduro, representatives of the Commissioner of Police and the State Director of State Security Service, Serikin Fulani of Eggua, Serikin Hausawa of Egbaland, royal fathers from the warring communities as well as representatives of the herdsmen. Commissioner for Agriculture, Ayo Olubori, who chaired the meeting, after listening to complaints from both sides, appealed to the warring parties to maintain peace, warning that the state government would not condone any acts of lawlessness. The Special Adviser revealed that as former Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of operations in the state in 2005, he had advised that all those found culpable in the disturbances be made to face the law to serve as a deterrent to others, but the then government decided to ignore the report. He asked that a particular portion of land be earmarked as grazing zone, stressing that “if we do that no herdsman should be found grazing outside the zone.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/01/ogun-wades-into-yoruba-fulani-killings/ |
alj_harem:Let me help you a little, Alj_harem. There is A LOT OF LIES in Nigeria, and anytime one of such lie shows up, I fight it to the last. So, if fighting a lie is tantamount to being anti-Nigeria, then, I am VERY PROUD to be the MOST ANTI-NIGERIAN on earth. ![]() |
alj_harem:SE, SS and NC made Jonathan president. FACT. ![]() |
alj_harem:@first bolded, SW did not vote Jona. Everybody knows that. They sat home. @second bolded, I am not anti-Nigeria. I am PRO-Truth. ![]() |
2mch:Of course it was not me. It could NEVER be me because I know the enemies of Eastern Nigeria. Jona's "crime" is that he is Ijaw and dared to win a presidential election in Nigeria. So, you and your Northern masters are restless. Well, welcome to NEW Nigeria. ![]() Jona na awa man. ![]() |
alj_harem:Like supporting bro Jona? We no go regret that one o. ![]() |
paragonpro:The government has no business in the oil industry to start with. History teaches us that Nigerian oil industry (with government) has been a corruption cesspit which certain parts of Nigeria have exploited maximally. Government needs to focus only on the environmental and tax aspect of that industry, nothing more. 2. Have proper laws governing the petroleum industries so we can know who is responsible for what in the oil industry.Again government cannot do that if it has DIRECT business (NNPC et al) in the oil industry. It is called conflict of interest = corruption = inefficiency = poverty of Nigerians 3. Put in place necessary structures like alternative transportation means, adequate power and alternative energy sources before you deregulate fully.I read somewhere that a law is coming up to strip the governors of immunity. I would like to think that the fed govt is trying to plug the holes to make sure that governors don't continue milking us dry after collecting more money which accrue from subsidy withdrawal. I hope this makes you feel better. ![]() |
@Topic I am very happy that folks from SS/SE did not allow the voice of dubious NL activists to hoodwink us over this issue. Una do very well. ![]() |
@FACE Please contact me when you can at ezendigbo_nl@hushmail.com Your performance here is simply brilliant. I need smart folks in my "cabinet". If you can, please register at hushmail, and use the email to contact me. Anyi ga enwe ihu na ihu otu ubochi. ![]() |
Aigbofa:You and I know that Obasanjo is part of them ("owners of Nigeria" . GEJ ain't. |
Aigbofa:We have seen far worse in Nigeria. You are welcome to try. Our problem in Nigeria is very different. I thank God that GEJ is actually headed in the direction of a possible solution to all those problems. The whole of SS should also stay away from these rallies, but I cannot talk for non-Igbo parts of SS. So, I stick to my advise to all Igbo to avoid these rallies. Don't be caught dead near any one of them. Majority of the anger against GEJ online has very little to do with subsidy. The "owners of Nigeria" want to topple him. They can go ahead and try, let's see what comes out of that. |
alj_harem:Okay then, protest peacefully and go home sans Igbo people. Make sure you dodge the bullets from trigger happy Nigerian policemen. Any Igbo man/woman who dies in one of these idiiotic "occupy" rallies is a foool. Our problem in Nigeria is different. Thank you. ![]() |
Okay guys, I know it is in the Nigerian constitution, but PDP could have amended it to remove that. @Alj_Harem, you know I'm speaking the truth. This subsidy thing will go whether now or in the future. So why take out the fury on GEJ? |
mikeansy:Mikeansy, I would share a little food for thought for your enjoyment/information. In my town, there are these three villages we use for certain proverb illustration. Let's just call them villages A, B, and C, respectively. We say that when one is at town A, but wants to get to town C, he/she cannot stop at B and say he went to C. The journey must be complete, from A to B and then C. I have noticed that you have been distancing yourself from Jonathan/PDP lately, and have been making statements uncharacteristic of a PDP man. Do you know, for instance, that the ministers are representatives (per quota system) of the 36 states of the federation? You talk as if GEJ administration just woke up to appoint all those ministers by whims. No my brother, it ain't so. They are working with the PDP constitution. I personally do not believe in quota system/federal character. That is why I am not a PDP man. If you want to criticize GEJ, let is be total and complete. Repudiate and drop PDP and all its ways as well. And don't stop there; endorse another party. ![]() I am an APGA man. ![]() That is why I say that those who criticize this policy are not sincere. Jonathan's crime, to them, is that he dared to win the presidential elections (as a minority from SS). Subsidy imbroglio is a pretext to vent their innermost anti-Jonathan sentiments. That is why I am not supporting this protest one bit. ![]() |
afam4eva:The bolded summarizes everything. Ndigbo, onye obula murukwa anya o. ![]() Luckily for us, the maker of the statement is not some faceless jobless bitter Nairalander. This one is from the creme de la creme of a section of Nigeria. Ignore it at your own peril. ![]() |
Why not add "General" Rossik? lmao. |
So, I guess it wasn't a lie afterall. Well, it is good that he retracted the statement. Still eye popping, though I'm not personally shocked. I've seen worse statements here on Nairaland. |
Kunle Adegoke Apologizes To Ndigbo For Internet Statement 12/23/11 Below is an apology to Ndigbo from Kunle Adegoke with respect to tribal backlash and threats emanating from forum comment he made in anger in response to what he saw as ethnic attacks on Yorubas by a group of Igbos. He said people have been calling and threatening him mostly from the Diaspora with regards to his forum post. He says the statement was made in anger and from the bottom of his heart, sincerely apologizes to Ndigbo. BELOW IS ADEGOKE'S EMAIL TO MASTERWEB REPORTS AFTER HIS PHONE CHAT WITH US Sir, I am forwarding this to buttress the fact that i do not have anything against an average igbo man or woman. The stand maintained by the man 'Africa Today' as shown below is a testimony to the fact that all he is concerned with is just to cause war by a campaign of ethnic irredentism. I do not think that is what we need. Kindly help publish as you may consider appropriate. Merry xmas in advance. I KNEW I FELL INTO YOUR TRAP CHEAPLY BUT I DO NOT WANT UNNECESSARY WAR ONLY BORNE OUT OF HATRED NURSED BY A DANGEROUS FEW. WHILE YOUR IDENTITY IS STILL WRAPPED IN MASKS, I BELIEVE THE NEED FOR UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD AND PEACE TRANSCENDS IMMEDIATE ESTABLISHMENT OF IDENTITIES. . As a former comment mentioned when SS was protesting and crying where was other Nigerian region, the only other region that stood up for us was SE, now they want us to protest with them? Commot. When SE was protesting, they were branded as bad by Nigerians, now SE decided not to protest, Na wahalla too. What do they want? Is an Igbo or any other SE or SS protesting going to change the outcome of what happened? I suppose because the scapegoat refused to protest, a new scapegoat has to surface in case things turns sour and they do not want that. I support Igbo not protesting; I support SE and SS as whole not protesting we want succession, not revolution. Nigeria is unfixable and every day, Nigeria proves this fact. Each year new problem surfaces and when that is dealt with, another problem surfaces. It is as easy as ABC, as they say you cannot save a dead man, all you can save is a dying man. Nigeria has corrupted the mind of SE and SS politicians, when Nigeria break apart, our politicians will be dealt with but as for now let us focus on the breaking away part thus SE and SS listen to the old, young and new do not protest. Listen oo!, don’t get involved at all.
