Gbawe: Unfortunately , very naive. They don't need to harm GEJ (and I sincerely hope they don't) to take power off him. When the clear identification is made of the 'bogeyman', then everyone is united in forgetting certain things all in aid of removing this 'ogre'. Even recent history showed us how Libyans, Western Nation and the world at large got behind racist rebels controlled by men who have spent their lives in the military like Ghaddafi. No one asked any questions because all agreed Ghaddafi had to go. When all are in agreement, because of suffering everyone can feel with zero "palliatives" in sight, that GEJ has to go, it will be obvious what people power can achieve if harnessed properly. And you really believe that this can ever happen in Nigeria? Is it how simplistic Nigeria appears to you? Some of you will soon learn FOR THE FIRST TIME about the true nature of the Nigerian nation. |

FACE: This is a big shame and I have tried to avoid looking at this topic to no avail. Very disgusting and wicked set of people. The big stick must come down heavily thus:
1. The head of the nearest police post in the area must be detained and prosecuted.
2. The traditional ruler of the area should be stripped of his title and detained for interrogation. If he is found to be involved one way or the other, he must be prosecuted, sent to jail and his assets taken away.
3. Every man and woman of knife wielding age in that community must be detained and interrogated.
4. All lands in that area must be seized by the government and people must obtain permission from the government to even cough near any fallow land.
5. The state government should as a matter of urgency ; start relocating the whole community from that area and scatter them all around the state and forever banish them from returning and the govt should use their ancestral homes for farm land. They do not deserve to have any ancestral homes and I am sure their ancestors would not want to be anywhere near them.(thank God for land use acts, the govt has such powers)
6. As an interim measure before the above, a state of emergency should be declared in that area.
Thanks a million FACE! Honestly, sometimes I wonder the type of misfits we allow into office, while we have educated and rational folks around. I know I would at least implement the bolded using a joint task force led by the army. Ebonyi state has been a PDP state since this democratic dispensation. I believe their governors (Sam Egwu and Martin Elechi) would have easier access to the presidency (as PDP men), unless I'm wrong. I totally agree that all stops should be pulled to nip this in the bud, else, watch as it festers into other parts of Igboland. I was at Awka during the Awka/Amawbia conflicts. It was a mere skirmish with few men duking it out in the middle of no man's lands border areas, away from villages, talk less of targeting women and children. Yet, that crisis was arrested and ended permanently. Bliss4Lyfe: This is the consequence of ignorance both in terms of leadership and promotion of positive igbo culture/ brotherly love. I am not surprise at all, even here on nairaland, from the sideline i have observed so called igbo's beating their chest like gorrilla while talking down and abusive at each other like they have nothing in common or free born and slave.
They need visionary leader that promotes unity as culture and homogenise the igbo entity without segregation or subjugation. Igbo's need to be less self centred and more community orientated. This is my advice to all those igbo's here involved in superior contest with themselves. nuff said My sister, you couldn't have said it better! Thank you! |

PointB: Igbos have been on the forefront of the secession march for a very long time. We shall continue pushing for it regardless of what Yoruba does. When our objective matches and interest matches we will cooperate. But putting our hope or aspiration in a Yoruba group - a nondescript one at that - might actually look like a desperate move. i don't particularly 'trust' this move even though I support it. I totally agree. I also believe that Nigeria being a weird place, you never know when something serious may be brewing. Do I believe that Yorubas would unilaterally lead a secession like Igbos? I HIGHLY doubt that of course. lol Nadanbata: This will never ever happen until either there is revolution in Nigeria or you vote PDP out of office. Simple as that. I sort of agree on the bolded too. |

The Bokom Haram are guys from Niger Republic that use to fight for Gadafi and after Gadafi failed, they just went to their fellow parasites in the north of nigeria. For the fact that you guys are so dumb and silly gave these guys from Niger republic the power to come and joined their fellow parasites in the north.Wow!!!! dumb Nigeria. The worst Illiterate people in Africa. So shut the bleep up all you guys there. koruji: But it is not the truth. People that engage in this kind of evil should bear the sole blame for it.
Proximity to Fulanis is not an excuse, and it shows a pattern of dehumanizing other people so as to humanize people that shown inhuman cruelty.
Not only that, this attitude will never lead to a solution. You have to accept that your peope are capable and willingly carried out these acts before a real solution can present itself.
The Ife & Modakeke were going at it for many years until cooler heads & firmer hands prevailed, and don't tell me there have been no such deadly border clashes in Igboland.
You should be calling for cessation of hostilities rather than finding excuses - because if human behavior is anything to go by, the other side is probably preparing a serious revenge of their own.
At the bottom of these acts are ineffective governments at the Federal, State and Local levels who have no real ideas about addressing these real conflicts. My friend you can knock yourself out with your name calling, and determined attempt to side-step my main argument, which is the DIMENSION of this conflict -targeting of women and children, and even animals. Just know that I am not interested. This same people have been at each others throat for sometime, but I believe this is the FIRST time they are adopting ALIEN tactics to settle their scores. We don't target women and children in wars. IT IS NOT IGBO. Don't force it to be Igbo. So, go on and continue arguing with yourself. I know when an alien culture steps into my land. I saw it when kidnapping started. Seriously some of you guys are beginning to sound ridiculous in your attempts to nationalize everything in Nigeria. Every ill must not necessarily be found in ALL parts of Nigeria; that is exactly my point. Y'all are desperate to discover SAME evils in ALL parts of Nigeria. My concern is that some of my people are beginning to buy into forced poison sharing, and trying to nationalize all evils. Soon they will copy bombing of churches too, because it is happening elsewhere. But some of us are still very awake! If we don't know when and how evil crept into our land, we would never be able to expel it. Continue arguing with yourself. lol |

This is the blame everyone else mentality that is keeping all Nigerian from resolving issues amicably and moving forward together to deal with bigger enemies that do us bigger evil,
How on God's good earth could you attempt to blame this dastardly event deep in the heart of your "ethnic nation" on other cultures that you live in the same country with
Are you that set in your ways that you cannot see this attitude as leading to nowhere even if you were to carry on with it for another 1000 years?
I must tell you, THIS IS NOT ONLY PATHETIC, IT IS LOW, VERY LOW. Please allow me to say the truth. I know what I'm talking about, and I will post a map to show how close Ebonyi state is to Benue. I have also been to the area, and I know that it harbors fulani herdsmen - around Ehamufu area. This act of killing women and children ONLY is an act totally alien to us Igbo. We watched as kidnapping crept in from non-Igbo parts of Nigeria and siezed our land, and has not let go till date. Now, this cowardly act of killing women and children. Andre Uweh: One Yoruba friend of mine has a photograph of Ojukwu as his lappy screensaver. Some Yoruba chaps who talk ill of Ojukwu in nairaland I suppose, are the school drop-outs. Maybe, maybe not. Most Yoruba that I know don't wear their true feelings out like most Igbos do. You need to dig a little deeper constantly before you get to that. Nothing wrong with those feelings, just that we should know that they may be there, even in friends. That Prof Aluko guy proved the same thing. manny4life: LOL, Here comes people fighting for states? Division will not be easy, but life itself is not easy! People are dying in this unity. Thousands die every year in this unity. Some countries at war record similar deaths. Time to tackle this issue is now. The referendum will not be state based. It would be based on ETHNICITY. There are identifiable ethnic groups in Nigeria. Identified groups can then decide to come together and form new nations. Current Nigerian states are part of the problem. Current states originated as a war stratagem. The creators did so to make Nigeria's division harder. They did not take away our ethnicity though. This group understands that, as far as I can see. |
