clean2: mr pagan 9ja ,i want to make this call to you as a brother who sees his beloved brother playing wiith death and goes after him to caution and rescue him. you are really toying with eternal damnation in hell fire as you go ahead working assiduosly for satan to mislead souls for the cursed beast. God your creator who made you in his own image and likeness loves you and doesnt want you to perish with satan. satan may be providing you with the basic comfort of life to give you a message of false hope for you to continue serving Him but i tell you when you die satan is going to laugh at you and torment you so severely for ever that you will regret the day you were born. you still have ample chance to repent and be saved through Jesus christ.
dont think everyone is as brainwashed as you are, people have the right to worship anything

Ortarico: I don't blame you as it is said salvation is personal in respect to the event of the shewing of our LORD JESUS CHRIST to Saul (Paul) in the BIBLE. His followers were also privileged to experience the illumination yet chosed to reject.
You say we're brainwashed, thank you. For it's better to be like an infant than to engage in pseudo- science of this wicked & obstinate generation of the world than to curse the Almighty and omniscience GOD!
Paul's vision was an hallucinatory experience, no spiritual implications

The religious love heaven too much and fear hell greatly that they are enslaved by their own delusion. They would rather thank a God for healing them than be appreciative and supportive of science that has produced drugs for the healing to occur.

Most times they are so speechless about intellectual matters that all they could utter is the already hackneyed Psalm 14V1 and Psalm 53V1. Am really impressed that the only chapter and verse of any "sacred" religious writing EVER to be produced twice is on ATHEISM. That shows how fearful and pusillanimous they are of atheism.

They engage in scientific debate, twisting matter to fit their own dogma, an anonymous said "creationists flow by the wind of evolution". They try to make science fit into their little holy book, they claim the book is up to scrutiny, they are too cowardly to admit that the book has undergone many modifications based on scientific discoveries as it get past from generation to generation throughout history.

Concerning morality, the truth is that God is not a disinterested arbitrator, he cannot therefore be an unbiased moral judge. No matter how moral an atheist, freethinker or agnostic lives, as long as he/she does not worship God, the person will be condemned to hell. The yardstick which God uses to measure morality is WHETHER PEOPLE WORSHIP HIM OR NOT, if you worship God, then you are free to do anything as long as you can request for forgiveness later, but if you dont, no matter how good/moral you are, you are still condemned to hell and because of this, God cannot be the ultimate judge of morality because all his seeking for is a brainwashed and willing heart to worship him.
An arbitrator of morality has to be someone or something that is totally disinterested in who people are and how they live, the only benchmark of morality has to be BEHAVIORS THAT FAVOR INDIVIDUAL/GROUP SURVIVAL based on the present condition. Behaviors that hurt another must be considered immoral, this include murder, theft etc, behavior that does not hurt another is not immoral no matter what, this include homosexuality, por.no etc

William L Craig is nothing but a man primitive in heart living in the modern age of the 21st century, confused because he finds it hard the understand the pace of the world.

Indeed, only the fool and the wicked says in his heart, "There is a God"

striktlymi: 1. I don't know in what sense you used the word "person" but when you talk about someone being elusive it does not imply that the individual does not exist. 'Elusiveness' and non-existence are two different things.

2. I agree with the above but suppose I stop posting on nairaland would that imply that I am dead? Even if I am dead there is no objective way of youu proving that. The best you can do is say that I have stopped posting on nairaland and no more. In the same way science cannot make an objective conclusion about the existence or non-existence of God hence science is silent on that matter.

3. The funny thing is that there have been lots of updates but some people have chosen to neglect them.
1. I mean that God is a person, a personality, a separate entity with a conscious existence, he is infact three persons in one or dont you believe in trinity?

2. You stop posting on nairaland might imply you are dead or just decided to take some time off. here is the thing: You do not request people on nairaland to spend their whole existence worship you and you only, if you do, then your continuous presence and updates might just be necessary, as it is for God now but which is wanting.

3. If a God exist who really cares about people, i think that his updates should be clear enough not to be neglected

striktlymi: The above does not prove that God does not exist. It only asserts that if one can hold that God exists without a scientific evidence then another can disprove it without evidence too.

We are still saying same thing! If you are asserting that God does not exist without a scientific evidence I can equally disprove this without making recourse to the scientific process.

PS: I have reasoned with Chris and I say it goes both ways!
what you must understand is that God is a person, his elusiveness is therefore unnecessary, if he is a "thing" that cannot speak and with no consciousness, that is a completely different subject here.

You striky, i know you exist, even though i can't see you, i can at least read you with updates also.

God should also consider updates on people rather than expect then to believe in some ancient writings.

Christopher Hitchens:THAT WHICH CAN BE ASSERTED WITHOUT PROOF CAN BE DISREGARDED WITHOUT PROOF.

FAITH IS NOT MATH, MATH IS NOT FAITH, however you want it. Science does not believe in anything by faith, except you think that faith is math.

If you still think that there is no scientific evidence for God, then i will tell you another logic.

A girl shares her experience on how atheism has helped her in a forum called "Why Won't God Heal Amputees?"

This is a great testimony of how her life has changed and how atheism has helped her accept the realities of life.

Read, Learn and Become an atheist, for this purpose we share our testimonies with you.

The Girl: I know that I have not been posting on here as much as I did last year, so I wanted to share some of my thoughts with you on how becoming an atheist has truly had a positive impact on my life.

When I first came to this forum last summer, I was in crisis. Due to my deconversion, I found myself in the middle of a deep depression where I would drag myself through my day, and I had such a hard time getting much sleep. You guys were here for me. The members of my (former) megachurch had convinced me that life away from Christ was desolate, empty agony. I even believed at one point that I would rather die than give up God. However, upon conversing with some of you, I realized that it was possible to live a fulfilling life without any kind of god at the center of it.

Today, I am a much healthier person, physically and psychologically. I lost 10 lbs (yay!) because I was able to stop abusing my body from eating too much junk food (as a Christian I had thought that only the afterlife truly matters). I was able to deal with my depression and anxiety (runs in my family, and was triggered by childhood abuse that I suffered) without any medication anymore by taking control of my own life. No longer did I have to deal with the intense pressures and worries of trying to fit into the mold of "God's plan" or "God's will," so I was able to just be myself and figure out how to be comfortable in my own skin. I realized that although I love taking care of my husband and son at home, that I did not have to limit myself just because I am female, so I went back to school.

In retrospect, I realize how much Christianity truly hurt me throughout my childhood and early adulthood. It limits your potential to grow emotionally, intellectually and socially as a human being due to its prejudices and traditions. Atheism did not turn me into a devil-worshipping, baby-eating witch. Honestly, I have more mental clarity as an atheist than I ever did as a Christian.

I think the world would be a much more loving and fair place if there were less religion in it. Although I have reached a point where I am not angry at Christians or threatened by them unless they get in my face, I do think that, ironically, the words of Jesus actually apply to them: "they know not what they do." A Christian has to cherry-pick Bible verses and be (at least somewhat willfully) ignorant of ones that do not make sense in the real world. That being said, I do generally have compassion for them (unless they pick a fight or do something outrageous or unfair) because they are like fearful children clinging to their belief in Santa Claus. I do not say that in spite, because I feel a great sense of peace regarding my deconversion, and my bitterness toward Christians has faded. I will, however, express my disgust for that fictional character called "God," and anyone who does terrible things in his name.
Peace unto you.

striktlymi: You would be surprised to know that I agree with him 100%. It works both ways! Any one who asserts that God does not exist without scientific evidence should have his assertions disproved without going through the scientific process.

Both boils down to faith! The non-theist have faith that God does not exist while the Theist have faith that he does exist. Looks to me like a stale mate!
Striky

You are missing the fact that FAITH IS NOT MATH, MATH IS NOT FAITH, however you want it. Science does not believe in anything by faith, except you think that faith is math shocked shocked

Deep Sight: I speak specifically of prayers of petition: wherein the praying persons request x or y help, act, rescue or favour from God.

Is such divine intervention consistent with the notion of a perfect God?
i think yes in some situations but God cannot be expected to intervene in all situations, as in situations where the people competing against each other ask for a win
