Uyi, the questions you raised on evolution have absolute answer except the origin of life. However, experiment of shown that precursor molecules to DNA can spontaneously evolve, giving us a strong trail to trace chemical evolution.

Modern evolution is just some 170 years old so cut us some slack. By the time it will be 500-1000 years old, all answers would have been found.

Should this be of concern to me as an atheist? People can decide love or hate me and ostracize me for my beliefs, that is there problem.

You are deliberately forgetting the fact that its not a religious ceremony but STATE ceremony. The church has been separated from state, so it doesn't matter who the majority or minority groups are.

Since its a state ceremony, its the right of ALL citizens that ALL their beliefs be practiced or NONE practiced.

What general controls how social species interact and therefore decides what is good or bad is if INDIVIDUALS DO ONLY THAT WHICH FAVOURS THE SURVIVAL OF THE SPECIES OR GROUP. When one member tries to hurt another of same species, or one member of same species but different pack or group tries to hurt another of same species or group, by stealing food from them for instance, the act is strictly fought against by other members.

The urge to do good in all social species, or group of animals of same species come from the urge to ENSURE SURVIVAL OF THAT SPECIES OR GROUP. Hence, it is not wrong to kill an organism of ANOTHER SPECIES to eat. At times, if an individual of same species but different group tries to threaten the safety of a group, the individual might get killed too if it doesn't retreat quickly.

Because we have consciousness and empathy, the urge to do good comes from need to help others and this is still found on the need for survival of our species.

Morality in humans is ever evolving and all of our judicial laws is based on a simple fundamental law of DO NOT HURT ANOTHER HUMAN. You might kill an animal but dont when it belongs to another man etc.

Because the urge for survival is in us as it is in all other organisms, morality evolved in us naturally. OUR MORALS WERE NEVER STIPULATED BY A GOD. GODS DOES NOT EXIST.
