JubrilD2022:I am not sure I’m in a position to speak on this. However, if you will consider similar cases - don’t forget how most Nigeria companies run their recruitment campaigns too, it’s better for the candidate to move on. |
samogconsu:Okay. You may likely be called for salary and grade negotiation before medical/documentation. |
samogconsu:2 weeks or less. Have you been called for salary negotiation? |
tolaade1960:While the process may be long, you need to also understand that every single company out there have talent pool(s), whether national or multi-national. Not every single candidate would make it to an advertised job role. If you have 100 open roles and 150 candidates scale through the process, what will you do? |
Mannylex:Past, but he has moved to another bank though. |
Mannylex:Mannylex Based on the experience of a friend, after the chat with the GE, the events listed below might follow: - You will receive an email that tells you the status of your application. Please note that at this stage, depending on the recommendation of the GE, you could either be recommended for hire, KiV (Keep in View), or rejected. - To know if you are recommended for hire, the success mail will include information about you being contacted for documentation soon. If you are KiV, the tone would be slightly different. There won’t be a mention of documentation, but you might be informed that you are in consideration for employment, and will be contacted when there is an available space for you (this means you are in the talent pool and might not get called until the department your job role falls under needs you). While the rejection mail will tell you… - If it is the first success mail, you might likely receive an invite for documentation and medical, which may be followed by another probable chat with the CTO to know when you would like to resume. - If it is the KiV mail, you might be lucky enough to be called for the same process in item 3 above if there is still a space to be filled after those recommended for hire have been asked to resume (post-documentation). Do not forget that some of the existing employees might also resign during this period, so there might be a need to fill the roles they will be leaving vacant, so, you can’t entirely lose hope if you fall in this category. I hope this helps. |

But why on earth can’t the government find a lasting solution to this issue! |
tolaade1960:Not true. There is at least one more stage to go. Depending on your entry grade, you could have one or more interviews to go. |
AK481:Yes, they do. They could be IT consultants (well-paid) or the regular contract staff. |
Lance7621:Not correct about the next phase. You still have two interviews to go. |
LivingADream If your idea is a tech product, and you have the technical expertise to build an initial product (MVP), it is advisable that you focus on building it; launch it, even if it is to a minimum audience, gain some traction, and when it is time to scale, you may opt for investors cash, at this time, it will be somewhat easy to raise the needed capital. Don't waste your energy thinking of raising capital at this early stage when in the true sense, you may not "need" it. I'd recommend that you read the story of Calendly, maybe it will inspire you. But if you still insist, you can try your luck with YCombinator, 500 Startups, Halcyon and/or Seedstars. Good luck |
educhigo Invest the money in $Dogecoin. You can set up your account on Binance. Leave it there for about 3-5months and evaluate your ROI after those months. Please, do this yourself. Best of luck. |
@Dubaiguy Nice post. You can now take the DHA exam in Nigeria though. |
janedonez:Russia is not (has never been) a part of the EU. |
Christistruth00:While I can't argue the amount earned by Akwa Ibom since 2007 because I don't really have much time to go through all the facts at the moment, you erred in the amount spent to build Dubai into what it is today. From infrastructure to human capital development, it is impossible to say how much (or put a price tag on) that city spent to put up those mind-blowing developments. I am not trying to pull you down, but we can learn, that's the purpose, init? Let me bring up a few references for better understanding. Palm Jumeirah alone cost about $12 billion to build, Burj Khalifa cost $1.5 billion, Burj Arab cost $1 billion, Dubai Metro cost $7.8 billion, Dubai airport's terminal 3 cost about $4.5 billion, while the federation budgeted about $12.88 billion for infrastructure in 2017 alone. Don't forget this is one of the most developed cities in the world. Dubai has been building since the 80s, this means cost of development could be in hundreds of billions. The essence of putting cost to some of their projects is to give you an idea of how much investment the federation has invested and still investing. It is reported that over $32 billion is to be spent on a new greenfield airport and about $33 billion will be spent on infrastructure in preparation for Dubai expo 2020. Inasmuch as we can't argue that the political leaders in the country have failed us, it is also imperative that we set the facts right. Many people "learn" by reading comments. Like I said, I come in peace. |
Reference:Your claim that Americans swindled Nigeria over the Super Tucano is false, QED. Who owns Super Tacano? Brazil, QED. Military aircraft manufacturing works just like every other manufacturing process. For your information, the F-35 LIGHTNING II parts are sourced from countries around the world, does that mean it is not owned by the United States? Terma, a Danish defence company provides over 70 mission-critical parts and components, such as, but are not limited to, composite leading edges for the aircraft horizontal tails, composite skins for the vertical and horizontal stabilizers, advanced lightweight composite components for the center fuselage, missionized Gun Pods for the STOVL and CV bariants, data acquisition pods for flight test instrumentation, air-to-ground pylons, radar Electronics, etc. Does that change the fact the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics manufactured the fighter jet? BAE Systems of UK developed the electronic warfare system of the F-35, does that change the fact that Lockeed Martin manufactured the aircraft? |
sexylassie2:I just tire for the guy, yet, he's arguing over an open secret. Honestly, I don't even understand the basis of his argument again. |
Reference:Bros, stop proving what is wrong. The Super Tucano has its nation of origin as Brazil, that shouldn't be difficult for you to understand. A simple Wiki search would have saved you from this unending claim to falsehood. For better understanding, the fact that a Toyota car is built in the United States does not mean the technology isn't owned by Toyota Global, headquartered in Japan, neither does it change the fact that Japan owns Toyota. If you find it too difficult to research more, here is an except from Wikipedia In addition to its manufacture in Brazil, Embraer has set up a production line in the United States in conjunction with Sierra Nevada Corporation for the manufacture of A-29's to many export customers.
|
Reference:The factory in the US was set up to help scale up production for international buyers, you can read more on that sir. The fact that an engine comes from Canada or some other parts comes from another country does not mean they own it. A variant of the Airbus A380 for instance uses Rolls-Royce Trent 900, does that mean UK owns it? In fact Boeing 777 and 787 Dreamliner use the same engine, does that change the country of origin? Spirit Aerosystems, an American country, makes fuselage for Airbus A350, does that change the country of origin? |
Cyberterror:Bros, Super Tucano is owned by, and built in Brazil. Americans haven't scammed us this time. |
xandy84:Thank you for bringing this up, I'd look that up. But that aside, since the op has nothing to lose, he may go with a legal letter, it would have been great if op has a lawyer friend who can help with this kinda letter FOC, at least to try something; a non-threatening stance to "pacify/rock" the employer. |
xandy84:I understand this bro, but a sensible organisation would have been straightforward with him and others like him. Going by his post, he, like many others, was lied to. And of course he has a contract, which must be respected. |
afecgivers:So far you do that based on the contractual agreement you have with your employees, you are good to go, else, they are free to drag you to any point they want to drag you, legally. Even if you want to lay off employees and do not have enough to pay, you engage them, not act like a demi god. He worked for that money and a sensible management would have engaged him and others like him, even if they do not have enough to clear the bills, not lie! |
afecgivers:What a myopic mind! So he must be working in an oil company to earn 240k, smh. You better go out and see how well some companies pay their employees. That being said, he worked for that money because the company said employees were to work from home. If he hadn't done anything at all, or he was placed on furlough during that time, it would have been understandable. The fact that you would accept this peasantry does not mean others should. Even if the company is broke and wants to lay off, a company with sensible managers would have discussed how things have went south with the company, pay the employees their full benefits and wish them well! |
Ffolksy:Ffolksy In my own opinion - I may be wrong - a company's policy does not supercede the terms of employment. And as it is clearly stated in the Nigerian labour act, the company is required to either give you two weeks notice (if on probation), one month notice (if confirmed) OR one month salary payment (in lieu) if termination is immediate. I'd advise you to check your letter of employment again for the terms you signed. After this, I'd also advise you - this worked for a friend - to approach a lawyer who will write a letter to the company. The law firm will most definitely ask for full payment of your salary and all its associated allowances from the said company, referencing the terms of agreement you have with them, failure in which a lawsuit will be filed. If the company fail to acknowledge or do something about it (in my friend's case, the salary was transferred to the designated salary account at about 6:00 AM a day after the company received the letter), the law firm may threaten a lawsuit worth millions with accrued interest and litigation expenses, this will be filed with the National Industrial Court (NIC). I am 60% sure that the company will want to avoid litigation. |
LoydJ:You folks always want to sound woke. Is Nigeria the only country in the world where employees are being laid off or salaries slashed during this trying period? |
Did he approve the drugs before they were administered on him? Maybe not. So, he should have been quiet about it and let the health practitioners do their jobs, even if they have to use the drugs. It may be true that the drugs worked on him, but it was utterly careless to have released a statement touting the drugs, knowing fully well how we abuse things in this part of the world. Nevertheless, every means should be made to save lives, that's the most important thing. |

OrestesDante: ![]() Best advice! |
baralatie:I hope so too, we need to get back to work. One month in, we are seeing significant economic damages, I better not imagine how disastrous it will be if there is an extension to the lockdown. Of course, that will definitely be determined by infection rates. Hopefully, we'll see a downturn in coming days. |
baralatie:Thanks for the update, I checked out the link; you are definitely right. Luckily, we have other pharmas across the globe making frantic efforts, right? I think there are about 3 or 4 active developments as at now, excluding Gilead's of course. |
