Since the beginning of this Buhari regime, Osinbajo has been the brain behind some of the outreach programmes that have been immensely beneficial to the masses. Programmes like Trader Moni, N-Power, Youth Investment, Agri Moni, COVID-19 etc and etc. He has been instrumental and extremely valuable to the common man in driving some of the few pro-masses and pro-citizens policies of the Buhari government. Beyond this, it is obvious Buhari is surrounded by his tribal clan and feudal caucus, who for whatever political or other reasons keep him inside an opinionated bubble of manufactured impressions, and they block out whatever realities they feel is not favorable to their aims and objectives. However, Osinbajo has been the only friendly, welcoming and accessible window for the masses to the highest corridors of power. Without Osinbajo as VP right now, we won't even have a voice that can speak to Buhari's ear about our existence. We probably won't even exist in the discussions of the powers that be. We will never have a voice again in the ears of Buhari if Osinbajo resigns as VP, the Buhari feudal clan aka Aso Rock Cabal will ensure that our voices are permanently shut out from the presidential briefings. If right now people think Buhari has "ear problem' (quote and unquote) with Osinbajo on his side, that he hardly listens to the masses, then imagine how it would be like if Osinbajo is not there at all. He might not be perfect, sometimes he might have overly defended Buhari's government to the point of insulting our collective intelligence, but what do you expect? He has to show loyalty to his boss, and then he is a VP, there's not so much he can do alone in terms of the Constitutional powers available for him as VP, his role is very limited, his Constitutional powers are very limited. And to be fair to him, no other VP in the history of Nigeria has been as active, functional and efficient like Osinbajo. That's the truth. I believe he deserves some credit and not some political propaganda blackmail calling for his resignation. I think he is a very good VP and overall not doing bad. So my honest evaluation is that Osinbajo SHOULD NOT resign. His presence in Aso Rock is a big benefit to the masses. We need him in Aso Rock!

OZOnNengiTheory:Because you can't beat a child mercilessly and tell him not to cry; and you can't starve a baby and tell the baby not to cry; and you can't kill unarmed peaceful protesters and tell them not to defend themselves. |
Mtchwwwww, I can never be surprised about this. Is it not the same army that will deny when its own soldiers were getting massacred by Boko? It's a shame how things have turned out in the army today. I trust the Nigerian Army under the military regime than the Nigerian Army under corrupt politicians. No truth again. |
Nawa! So much anger and frustration that has been bottled up for many years has reached boiling point. Most of the money that were supposed to have been used to build a better country and build a better future for the youths have been embezzled back to back to back by different governments that have been ruling Nigeria. This is 2020, not a single agenda of Abacha vision 2020 has been achieved. All the years in between wasted. Imagine if our governments use their 4 year tenor to solve one national problem, just one, we would have gone very far today. Imagine OBJ govt used the first 4 years to solve electricity and then used his 2nd term to solve water supply. It means that when he left power, Nigeria would have been a country with 24/7 electricity and 24/7 clean water supply. And then the Yaradua/GEJ government used their own first 4 years to solve public infrastructure such as roads, universities, hospitals, civil service, transportation, communication etc. Then they used their second term to solve public administration (civil service, MDAs, armed forces, paramilitary, teaching hospitals, judiciary, legislature, executive etc). It means by the time Yaradua/GEJ government was over, Nigeria would have been a country with 24/7 electricity supply, 24/7 clean water supply, good public infrastructure and good public administration for government service, programs and activities for the country. The Buhari government comes in, and then uses their own first 4 years to develop the local economy like agriculture, manufacturing, mining and industry, trade and exports, technology and private sector etc. And then use the 2nd term to push for economic expansion, like foreign investments, increase foreign reserves, expand the oil and mining sectors etc for more revenues, work out more foreign trade partnerships and balance or eradicate trade deficits, and so on. Then it means by the time Buhari government is going, Nigeria would be a country with 24/7 electricity, 24/7 clean water supply, good public infrastructure and good public administration for government service, programs and activities for the country, strong local economy, strong currency, strong industries, and international investors magnet etc. That's how to build a country and make it great. But, NO, all we have is government after government after government coming to loot and embezzle their own share and go, and leave the country worse than they met it. How long shall we continue like this? ![]() |
Good move by the FG. This is what we are talking about. That's how to turn the situation back to normal, not with violence and excessive force. Sensitivity is needed, sense is needed, maturity is needed from the government. When the people see genuine actions like this, then they will realize that government is not their enemy. But if you use force and start killing your own citizens, then they will view government as an enemy. No sensible Government should create an environment where your own citizens view you as an enemy. That is an invitation to chaos and anarchy and massive conflicts. It is not the way forward. Despite all the mistakes some youths have made, despite that you might call them hoodlums or touts, they are still citizens and they are still your people. And the government is the father and the citizens are your children and a father must take care of his children and even when your child misbehaves and you want to correct, you chastise and discipline your child with love. So this is a good approach from the government. This is how to win the youths back, this is how to calm their anger. The govt should not relent. Both sides have made costly mistakes but we can put aside the blame game and work things out to bring peace and normalcy to our society. Government should try and reach out to them with supplies and show them they care about their welfare. That's how to solve this crisis. That's how you bring protesters and revolters to the dialogue table, that's how you end the violence. The last thing we need is another set of terror groups springing up in different areas of the country. Even if we want Nigeria to break, it can break peacefully, war is not necessary, violence and killings is not the way to go. |
Commentor:Try harder, this your propaganda game is too weak. You can't be bringing toothpicks to an hypersonic missiles battle and expect to win. I guess the Reps asking Buhari to prosecute the killings were drunk when they released this official statement: The Minority Leader, Mr Ndudi Elumelu, in a statement issued on Wednesday, “strongly” condemned killing of “peaceful and unarmed” protesters by security operatives at Lekki Tollgate and other parts of the countryhttps://punchng.com/prosecute-soldiers-involved-in-lekki-shootings-reps-tell-buhari I guess the NBA were doing stand up comedy when they said this: The Nigerian Bar Association on Tuesday condemned the killing of peaceful #EndSARS protesters by soldiers at Lekki tollgate in Lagos. The NBA President, Mr Olumide Akpata, stated in a statement asked the Nigerian Army to immediately identify the soldiers who carried out the attack and dismiss them from service.https://punchng.com/nba-condemns-lekki-killings-sets-to-begin-legal-actions-against-fg-military/ And I guess Mr Governor Sanwo Olu was just feeling like goofing around when he made those tweets below on his official Twitter account
|
Commentor:Try harder, this your concocted conspiracy and propaganda statement is too daft to even respond to. And who are the imaginary "many" that said it never happened? Is this the best denial you can come up with? Kai! It is too poor. According to your flawed logic, it means Osinbajo and Sanwo Olu and other notable people in society that have publicly spoken up about it, I guess they wanted it to happen too, I guess they were anxious to make sure people died at the tollgate, right? Look, I'm game when it comes to political discussions, nation building, social-economic arguments and so on, but how can we have a meaningful discussion if you don't bring your sense to the table? |
Commentor:If you could see or read properly you would have noticed an "IF" in that sentence. But you can twist it anyhow you like that's your problem, not mine. |
People need to realize that Good Police outnumber the Bad Police. Not all police are evil and we need to start creating that public awareness. And the police needs to do a serious publicity campaign to fix their image among the people. And the good police officers need to start holding the bad police officers accountable for their crimes, because if they don't, it will come back to aftect them too. Like the quote says, Bad police is BAD for good police. |
Commentor:If 80% of your youth population are thugs, then who should we blame? We should blame the angels in Heaven, or we should blame the parents that have been incapacitated by the same useless govts with bad policies and monumental corruption that have destroyed the country and parents don't have time to raise and train their kids anymore because they are struggling for their own survival. If majority of the youths in this country have lost their way, then the FGN deserves all the blame. |
Very sad |
StagethemTVee:Yes, he has been on the side of the people, on the side of the masses. That's how it should be, that's how it has always been from time memorial, that's the Spirit of Lagos, that's why Lagos is Special. Any Lagos Governor MUST always be on the side of the people. Even when we had military administrators like Marwa, under a brutal dictator like Abacha, Marwa stood on the side of the people. That's Lagos. But on the night it mattered most, Sanwo Olu was no where to be found. He was in the country na, he was in Lagos, either Marina or Ikeja. Road dey free, highest one hour he would have been at Lekki tollgate that night. He knew action film was going to happen there that night. Anybody that says he didn't know is lying. But he stood back, and washed his hands in the basin like Pontius Pilate and handed over his Lagosians to the executioners like Jesus was handed over to the soldiers for crucifixion. And now, we Lagosians, the masses, going forward we too we have turned our backs on ACN. But that doesn't mean PDP will take over Lagos. People Destruction Party can and will never rule Lagos. We don't want them here. AD should start dusting themselves and preparing for 2023. This is Lagos, we no dey pretend for here. You cannot suppress our voice, you cannot spill our blood and get away with it, never! ACN, you turn your backs on US Lagosians because of those APC demons in Abuja?? No wahala, we have turned our backs on ACN.
|
Buhari regime u see una life? No single member of rhe international community are blaming protesters. Everybody is blaming Bokóhari regime. You massacred IPOB peaceful protesters in the East, you massacred peaceful Shiites protesters in the North, that was not enough, Buhari regime now massacred peaceful protesters in the South West, enough is enough. Even the international Community are tired of this evil wicked heartless regime. |
“On our governor’s watch, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, armed men, soldiers shot at innocent protesters at Lekki."Quote of the Year Governor Sanwo Olu knew the soldiers would be at Lekki Tollgate that night. If he didn't know, he won't have been making that comment that Forces beyond their control etc. They went to kill people because of tollgate money they want to be collecting. I think now they have burnt down the useless tollgate, they should go and collect tollgate money from the graveyard of the unarmed peaceful protesters they assisted the demons from Abuja to murder in cold blood. Tinubu should forget Lagos in 2023. They had the choice of standing with the people or standing with the Abuja demons and they betrayed the people for 30 pieces of Tollgate money. Shame on ACN, they have lost focus inside that evil party APC. Even if na AD or ADP will take over, no wahala but Sanwo should just know he is the last APC Governor of Lagos. APC and PDP should go to hell. Evil demons! |
tonididdy:Ok, where is Buhari? |
Tareq1105:Oga nothing like political anything in this matter. Yes, I agree some political sponsored agents had been working to de-market Tinubu on social media and they have been working 24/7 round the clock to put him in the news for all the wrong reasons, and sometimes promote fake news, yes, accepted. I see all that happening on Nairaland, Twitter, Facebook etc. Well he is a top politician and top politicians usually have political enemies and they work against themselves when aiming for political positions or benefits. So all that is normal. But beyond this, the youths are angry, frustrated, bitter and have reached boiling point. Na Lagos I dey so I know what I'm saying. I wish I can find that post I made during the last week of the BBN show. I said something that, When this BBN show is over, Buhari regime is in trouble. Because the youth will now have to face the reality of all the problems in society, particularly economic inflation that is drying up their pockets and taking the little they have away from them. Fuel price Up, food stuff Up, transport Up, NEPA Up, inflation everywhere, prices have gone up, purchasing power has reduced drastically. No be everyone come from a rich home, or has a comfortable job in Lekki etc, most of the youths are struggling, most of them their parents can't even take care of them, so they are hustling on their own. It's not easy, especially for boys. The girls are selling their body for money, doing runs or getting favors because of beauty etc. But the boys are abandoned, nobody is helping them, they either resort to hardwork or crime. Either way, there is no easy way for the boys. They have the greater energy, they are stronger than the girls, they have youthful exuberance and they are very angry at society for all the hell they are going through at such a young age. This one of the reasons why I keep crying on Nairaland. Don't just be helping females, help the young boys if you can nobody is helping them, they feel abandoned and frustrated. A girl will make a post for help on Nairaland. Many men will rush there to form Captain Superman. But let a boy make the same post, their attitude towards that person will usually be skepticism, dismissal or mockery or ignored. And this is the same bad attitude people have in the real world outside social media. Men don't help their fellow men. They find it so difficult. I wonder how they were raised. They hate helping men like themselves, especially the youths. It is bad. Those young boys are dying for opportunities. Nobody to give them. That's one of the major reasons we are having crisis today. 98% of the people they are calling hoodlums that have attacked and burned down police posts, bank, government building, guess what, they are BOYS, young boys, full of energy, full of anger and frustration. Because they are the ones that suffer #1 NEGLECT in society. Who hawks more on the streets? Boys. Who are more homeless? Boys. Who suffers societal neglect the most? Boys. Who are the most angry? Boys. When that anger reaches boiling point, you will have what we are witnessing today. No 2 ways about it. Go and read history. Go and study the old civilizations. You will see and understand that it is a normal human reactionary behavior that once there is unbearable poverty and suffering in the society, the people will revolt against the government and if the government makes the mistake to employ the use of extreme force in that situation, then you will have a rebellion in your hands, you will have insurrection, you will have revolution. And either 2 things will happen: mass murders to suppress the riots OR the government will be overthrown. If you have a population ratio of maybe like 1: 100 as per govt forces to people, then the govt can have hope of suppressing the insurrection with extreme force. But when your total armed forces in Nigeria is about 300K and you have a population of about 200 million, violent suppression CANNOT work. Your armed forces have families and relatives among the people, some of them are the same tribe, do you think they will be happy to kill millions of their own people? No, they will rather support the idea that the govt should fall and a new govt should come and try other ideas to improve the welfare of society. Then this is the 21st century, this is 2020, the world will not stand back and watch any Government murder millions of its own people. They will gather together to send weapons, equipment and funds (or even troops if necessary) to overthrow that Government. A classic example is Gaddaffi. So people will always revolt when sufferings become unbearable. It is normal. Look at America, they fought civil war North Vs South when slavery for blacks became unbearable. You can't keep people as slaves forever. You can't run a country where 1% are extremely wealthy, 9% are middle class and then 90% have to struggle with poverty, and then expect the status quo will remain like that forever. It won't and cannot work. One day, the 90% will say they have had enough. And that is what we are starting to witness. |
GoshenNLA:I dey tell you. Sometimes I really wonder how come the fact that many of these top Government officials take many stupid decisions despite having many advisers. I wonder if the advisers are just there for decoration or whether the government is deaf and dumb. It's very bad. If I were a special adviser to Sanwo Olu, I would have told him, Oga let's go to the Phase 1 toll gate and park there and speak with the protesters that night, highest maybe we use 1 hour to get there. By the time the killer army squad arrived they won't have been able to shoot and kill the protesters. The Governor would have confronted them peacefully and told them NO, they should leave the protesters etc, and the Governor will wait there till the soldiers go, even if it means waiting there all night. It is a necessary sacrifice. By the time the whole drama playa out, the news the following day with be to the Governor's praise, he prevented anarchy and bloodshed + he is now the People's hero. His political fame will skyrocket, he will have turned a potential bad situation around in his favor, People will respect, love and cheer him more. Abuja will respect him more for his courage too, and appreciate how he stepped in to correct their excesses. Win Win for everyone. That's wisdom at work. Mr Governor Sanwo Olu missed a very big opportunity to increase his political capital among the Lagos masses. How because of that inaction, Tinubu is suffering for it. His political value and love among Lagos masses has dropped, people now dislike him, they have attacked his investments or perceived investments, they now see the LASG as enemy of the people. Something that could have been avoided and turned around for their political benefits. If only they had advisers like me that can talk critical sense into.their heads and help them to recognize the opportunity in crisis they can harness and turn around for their benefits and secure the greater good. But NO, they keep hiring advisers that only know how to organize Unilag runs girls and hoelosho Nollywood actresses to bring to their hotels on the Island for all night romps..... Mtchwwwww! He was now crying that powers at work beyond their control, smh, imagine a Governor saying this. How many times has Wike driven out in the middle of the night to block and confront Abuja agents sent to his State to arrest or do one rubbish or another? The time they wanted to pick a Judge forcefully, Wike went to block them, the time they wanted to pick that NDDC woman, Wike went to block them. That's a man with sense. You can't just come to my backyard and be doing anyhow in the name of FG, never, cuz if it backfires, the same Governor will also suffer part of the blame. |
quentin06:Nawa to you oh. Dis mata no be about cowardice. this matter is about rule of law and civilized behavior. We can't be complaining across the country against govt about extrajudicial killings and then the people also will be killing others extrajudicially. We have law, we have courts, we have sentences. Let the criminals be tried by law and sentenced to execution by the courts if guilty. That's the way to go. I know our Judiciary is a mess and the system is rotten and imperfect but we have to work towards improving it. We cannot be arrester, punisher, prosecutor, jury, witness, judge and executioner at the same time. That's why the famous quote says: Absolute power corrupts absolutely. |
Sad ![]() |
Bad or failed leadership from the wicked Buhari regime caused all these problems. Even during the time of Abacha, even when MKO was killed, even when Simbiat was assassinated, even when Funsho Williams was murdered in Dolphin Ikoyi, and all the other major political crisis in Lagos history, it never ever degenerated to this point, degenerated too badly that Oba of Lagos palace was desecrated by angry youths....none of these unfortunate things has ever happened before in the entire history of Lagos State. Lagos State has never ever witness civil unrest and anarchy on a large scale to this extent of public destructions before. What triggered it? They sent soldiers to shoot and kill umarmed peaceful protesters at Lekki phase 1 toll gate. There was so much tension in the country already, mass poverty coupled with many anti-people government policies that have driven up prices of commodities and costs of living, so much Government insensitivity. People are yet to recover from COVID economic recession, you start slamming Nigerians with one tax after another, one tariff after another, fuel price up, VAT up, NEPA up, dollar up, one crazy tax after another, one crazy bill after another. The masses are already frustrated and the frustration was already at boiling point. Yet Buhari regime doesn't care, he is not bothered. Nigerians can go to hell, that's not his business. Ok, no problem, the people still managed to continue their lives, but it got to a point they said enough is enough for police brutality, torture, maiming and extrajudicial killings. It was not exaggeration. It was reality. There were countless cases of extreme human rights violations and murders, without justice being served on the police killers and offenders. This was the main cause of the protests at the initial stages, protesters were loud, they were angry but they were civil, they were orderly and they were unarmed. It was peaceful. Protesting peacefully was their aim to voice out their displeasure and anger to government, to press for critical changes in the system, to ask for justice for the murdered and oppressed. Buhari said he acknowledged the civic rights of the protesters to protest peacefully. Very very good. So what happened, where did the commotion come from? The peaceful protesters suddenly were getting attacked and killed by thugs and criminals, obviously hired by government to intimidate the protesters to stop protesting. Very very STUPID move. You have a spontaneous protests, across the country, with no clear leadership, that should tell you the equation is very volatile, any wrong move and things could descend into widespread anarchy and chaos. Still despite the provocations, the peaceful protesters continue protesting peacefully until the shadow attacks from hired criminals became unbearable and they started to defend themselves. Anarchy loading, but at this stage it has not gone totally out of control yet. The government still had the opportunity to calm things down. But NO, Buhari regime had to escalate the tensions, had to spoil everything. How? Armed soldiers went to shoot unarmed peaceful protesters at Lekki yesterday night and that was when everything scattered. Why would they shoot to kill unarmed peaceful protesters that the president himself said had the rights to protest peacefully? If it was completely necessary for them to disperse the crowd, why didn't they use tear gas? Why didn't they use tasers? Why didn't they use water cannons or use batons or even pepper spray to disperse the crowd? There were so many options they had to resolve that situation without murder, without killings BUT they chose to KILL. Why? These youths are citizens for God's sake. Some of them even voted for this same Buhari to get power. Some of them even protested peacefully for Buhari's sake during GEJ govt, and yet this is how Buhari regime pays them back, with live bullets fired at them? No, it is totally wrong, condemnable, unacceptable and unjustifiable. None of the chaos we are witnessing today across the country will have happened if the government had been more sincere and sensitive. I mean for God's sake even during military era, as brutal as they were, it never got to this point, they still had some limits they won't cross. This is the reason why I blame Buhari regime for this, if they had shown sense, maturity and sensitivity, the whole crisis of the peaceful protests could have been managed well and turned around in their favor. For example, if I were the President and this protests crisis broke out and the youths made their demands for change, very reasonable demands. I will have addressed them, given them assurances, beyond words, I will have taken some quick actions to show my sincerity and solidarity to their cause. I will not only have ordered the IGP to disband the police units accused of gross human rights abuses and violations, I would have asked that the officers already proven to be offenders face orderly trial immediately, while further investigation continues for other offenders. If the protesters still insisted on continuing their peaceful protests, I will have allowed them to continue. Then when the protesters claim and provide proof that they are being attacked by criminals as they are peacefully protesting, I would have deployed riot squad and other security teams to the protesting zones and areas to provide security for the peaceful protesters. All these actions will make them see and know that truly the govt is on their side and is sincere about making change, about addressing their concerns, that the govt is sensitive to their cries. By the time they protest peacefully and roam about for maybe 2 or 3 weeks or even 1 month, their anger would be lesser and they will become more predisposed to come to the dialogue table with govt and discuss a holistic way forward together and brainstorm about the ideas that will work to make society a safer place for the youths and citizens. During those weeks they are allowed to peacefully protest with security protecting them and guaranteeing their safety, the worst that could happen is the inconveniences of traffic blockage, or obstruction by the large number of protesters on the road and streets. Alternative temporary detours can be used, and they can still appeal to them during their march to give way whenever traffic stands still. It is better people suffer traffic and hold up for peace to reign than for society to descend into mass anarchy, chaos and killings. People already experience heavy traffic from time to time, it is not a strange phenomena in our society. How many times have they shutdown major highways and roads for months in Lagos, as unbearable as the traffic was, sometimes hours and hours in heavy traffic, people still managed and all was well eventually. That's how the situation would have been well managed, no bloodshed, no torture, no murders. At the end of the day, I will have succeeded in winning over the protesters and youths and they will respect and believe in their govt more. Problem solved! But NO, NO, NO, they just had to choose the way of brutality and killing. It is either this Buhari regime is just too DAFT or they enjoy killing citizens. |
Why didn't they use tear gas to disperse unarmed peaceful protesters? Is tear gas now the most expensive commodity in the world that makes Buhari army not to use that as a means to disperse unarmed peaceful protesters? Why didn't they use tasers? Why shoot to kill outrightly? These are some of the questions Buhari should answer for us |
None of this would have happened if Buhari regime had used a friendly approach of dialogue with the people. You can't be shooting and killing people and then think everything will be ok. |
May God continue to bless the good Nigerian soldiers out there and keep you safe. May God give you victory over your enemies on tbe battlefield, amen |

NGpatriot:Patriot like maybe 2 other people have earlier brought it to my notice that this particular picture is from a movie. And I say a big thank you to them and to you as well. So, yes, you're correct, it is fake, I agree with you 100% and I don't advocate spreading fake pictures or fake news, in short I hate it. As you can see, I posted links of the thread on Nairaland where I got that picture from, threads that were created by other people, not me. I would have removed the picture too, but as you can see, that picture is a COLLAGE. There are about 5 pictures in total. And like I told the other people who informed me earlier, I asked them if those other pictures too are fake, if they are from movie too etc, if they have evidence to that effect, they should provide it also, so that I can know the real truth. But none of them have been able to reply, and that's why I'm leaving that picture there. Even if it is just one of them that is true, then the truth must still be made known. So that's it. I hate fake news and I will never spread fake news deliberately. If I post something untrue or incorrect, it is either I got the wrong info that I thought was right or I didn't know and its not deliberate. I'm not a paid agent or saboteur or zombie of any political party, neither am I like those tribalistic keyboard warriors that always try to start tribal wars on Nairaland. My allegiance and loyalty is towards truth, justice and peace. Anyway, where have you been hiding since morning. My blood has been very hot since yesterday night when I heard the news of massacre of peaceful protesters in Lekki. The tin pain me well well. I dey para mood since yesterday. My mind is hot, I have been looking for an intelligent intellectual person to argue politics and national development with since morning, but you have been nowhere to be found. I'm tired right now, I don cool dan, I can't argue again dis night, na till tomorrow. You're very smart, I wish you were a defender of the people, your people, not politicians. Someday sha, ur eyes go open. |
Nicoddemus:Fixed! You better stop stealing N2 so they won't burn you to death too. |
Fredchisom:Even the international Community are tired of Buhari regime wickedness |
Just look at all the problems Buhari regime has caused for Tinubu since yesterday night killings of unarmed peaceful protesters. Tinubu is not the president, he is not the governor, he is not even a government official presently, yet he is the one suffering the brunt and anger of Lagos masses, just because he is an ally of Buhari. May God not give us an evil friend like Buhari that will attract serious problems and destruction into our lives. The Lagos masses don't like Tinubu again since yesterday night massacre. How will he win 2023 Lagos elections now? |
