PoliticsFG In Talks With Boko-haram To End Suicide Bombings by openmine(op):
ABUJA — Following the release of 82 Chibok school girls, indications have emerged that the Federal Government will initiate fresh talks on how to end suicide missions with the Abubakar Shekau’s faction of Boko Haram and ensure return of normalcy to communities in the North-eastern part of the country.

Some of the 82 released Chibok schoolgirls during the presentation of drugs to them by the Minster of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, at the Directorate of State Service Hospital, in Abuja on Monda Part of the talks is to also free more girls still trapped in the sect’s custody. This comes as Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo said yesterday that the government will step up welfare packages for the victims as more details of how the Federal Government negotiated release of the 82 Chibok school girls with the leadership of the Boko Haram sect emerged, last night. A top source close to the deal, told Vanguard that the entire negotiation was done with the Abubakar Shekau faction of the sect, holed up in remote areas of the N-East.

Although there were claims last week that Shekau had been fatally wounded by the military and one of his commanders killed in a deadly offensive, the top source confirmed to Vanguard that Shekau was fully involved in deliberations for release of the school girls. The official said: “We actually met and discussed the terms of the release of the girls and the commanders with the Shekau faction and he was fully involved in all the stages of the deliberations.

What we did this time around was direct swap, which did not involve the payment of ransom as was earlier contemplated. “I can confirm to you that no fewer than five top commanders of Boko Haram were freed in exchange for the 82 girls and I think that it was a very good bargain with the sect’s leadership.

Once that number was agreed upon, the five commanders were taken to an agreed location inside the forest where they were exchanged directly with the girls, on Saturday. That was how the whole thing was done. “It was a tedious and daring process but we had to do it.”

The source revealed that apart from the Chibok girls, there were thousands of other Nigerian women still trapped in the enclave of Boko Haram terrorists who must be rescued. He said the Federal Government and the sect leadership had agreed to open discussions on how to free all the girls in the custody of Boko Haram and end atrocities and hostilities orchestrated by the terrorists. We have also agreed to begin talks on how to end suicide missions by the terrorists so as to ensure the return of normalcy to communities in the North-eastern part of the country.’’

All4good:
My challenge is with weak Christians who leave studying of God's word (The Bible) to their Pastors and sink or float with his interpretation. They forget that ignorance of the Law is NOT an Excuse for Sin. So also "My Pastor did not tell me that" is NOT an Excuse for Sin.

Most of us have been brain washed for so many years with verses quoted of context especially malachi 3:10. But a little study brings out Deuteronomy 14: 22-29 and Deuteronomy 12: 11-28. Tell your pastor you will pay your Tithe unfailingly but not to him/her. Tell your pastor you will pay your Tithe as God stipulated in Deuteronomy 14:22-29

I suggest you read this book http:///TithePB
It is written in a Question & Answer format and it answers lots of questions on Tithe, Offering, First fruits and Vows.

There is no gain in saying that the current structure of most churches for the collection of Tithe & Offering and "Church Planting" rather than Evangelism, Crusades and Missions has brought many pastors(Not All) to eternal condemnation.
Absolutely spot on!

I think this topic has been debated for some time now, with so many threads that have nipped this issue in the bud...any one who has a bible and led by the spirit sud know tithe sud no longer be practiced by believers of the gospel of Jesus christ!
We can argue from now till the end of all things, but the truth from the scripture still remains explicit.....no more tithes! Any thing that has no form of free will or decision from you when giving is no longer free will giving but mandatory or based on a requirement to get something from God!
Feel free to dispute my assertions smiley smiley

HEBREWS 7:11 - 19
11 Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a CHANGE OF THE LAW 13 For He of whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no man has officiated at the altar.

18 For on the one hand there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness, 19 for THE LAW made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.
EPHESIANS 2:11 -15
11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)— 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by setting aside in his flesh THE LAW AND ITS COMMANDS AND REGULATIONS. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace
GALATIANS 3:19 - 25
19 Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. 20 A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.

21 Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. 22 But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.
Children of God

23 Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. 24 So THE LAW was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that THIS FAITH has come, we are NO LONGER under a guardian.
ACTS 15:1 -11
Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.” 2 This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.

5 Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to keep THE LAW OF MOSES.”

6 The apostles and elders met to consider this question. 7 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. 8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9 He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. 10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? 11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

Paul has always being true to the gospel and his calling

What you perceive to be ''some slight confusion made by Paul'' actually is what's known as the ''There's more than one way to skin a cat'' method
Moreover, no one skins a fish before it is caught and reeled in to boat or fish-net
That in two sentences are the reason behind Paul's methodology or style

And for the sake of those wondering over above italic quote
It is from 1 Corinthians 9:19-23

20When I was with the Jews, I lived like a Jew to bring the Jews to Christ.
When I was with those who follow the Jewish law, I too lived under that law.
Even though I am not subject to the law, I did this so I could bring to Christ those who are under the law.
21When I am with the Gentiles who do not follow the Jewish law, I too live apart from that law so I can bring them to Christ.
But I do not ignore the law of God; I obey the law of Christ

- 1 Corinthians 9:20-21

1 Corinthians 9:20-21 above was put out twice on page 7 of this thread, but it obviously went over heads

All fingers are not same in length of understanding, but when they bend, all stand equal
The truth is believers' life becomes very easy when we bend and adjust to each other's current level of understanding

Everyone from Goshen360, GodsMopol, ayoku777, petra1, Ubenedictus, openmine including moi, who empathised with OP and bent
did not have their bending posture reciprocated
What they got in return was disdain, pontification and reading dogmatic & embarrassing long posts
True but we must admit just like peter did that Paul's teachings were very hard to comprehend....
If not for 1 Corinthians 9:20-21,i would have concluded that Paul actually had an ulterior motive...
Christianity EtcRe: Does The New Covenant Abolish The Ten Commandments? by openmine(m): 8:57am On Mar 11, 2017
@CatfishBilly,Now to the topic....The OP made a statement about why the new covenant did not abolish the ten commandments, and as expected, his statement was met wit a different point of view from others on this thread who gave the OP their argument and scriptures to back their assertion... instead of the OP to reason with a different opinion and maybe ask questions to understand their beliefs better,he(blueagent) and splinz started insulting them...even to the extent of calling them unprintable names...Is that how to defend Ur beliefs?

I actually asked a question giving scriptures to that effect and both attacked me with jabs as if the question was threatening their current belief system....

If only people will understand that scriptures can be subject to different interpretations but the important thing is to understand each other and if possible get the point the person is trying to make....then own up when U have a better argument rather than insulting and throwing jabs
Christianity EtcRe: Does The New Covenant Abolish The Ten Commandments? by openmine(m): 8:40am On Mar 11, 2017
CatfishBilly:
Wow. God is not an author of confusion you say, but see how confused you lot are.
It's one freaking book. Can't you guys just agree on an interpretation?
No wonder there are a thousand and one denominations.
The Holy Spirit was meant to explain the deeper secrets of the scriptures to believers, he/she/it can't tell someone one thing and tell the other person another, from the same book and source, that's just confusing.
This is embarrassing, really.
Do you guys need another Council of Nicea to sort things out or something?
cheesy cheesy
The truth is that one side does not want to listen/reason with the other individual or group out of pride or because of the fear of a better argument against what they already know....this applies to the law of moses, tithe, the divinity of God,the lifestyle or appearance of a believer!
And yes U are right, its one of the very reasons why there are many christian denominations in the world today....!
I wont lie to U there was actually some slight confusion made by paul during his ministerial times....
He gave different doctrines to different believers which is a cause of confusion right now for believers presently...
For instance,he will admonish the people of galatia, ephesians, colossians, not to observe the laws of moses calling such acts stupid and then go to the people of rome, asking them to uphold the law....same apostle but a slightly different doctrines to different churches....but i think he made an amazing admission which made me understand his reasons and intentions...

19 Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.
