By Eruobodo Lanre Oyenuga We sent our children abroad, to far away Lands, to avoid the hazards in our Land, over which we failed to exercise control. Sadly, these same children are faced with and embroiled in, the hazards of these other Lands, over which we still have no control? We sent them away from our land, an act we felt justified at. Meanwhile, we forget that we had merely taught them to turn their backs at challenges? Even when we become old and we become a challenge to them, they unconsciously mirror back at us, what we taught them: turning their backs at challenges! Many only return, to pay us their “last respect”. Source: Lamentations of Some Nigerian Parents at Old Age cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44 |

Underwear plays an important role in the life of the women. It’s like a support to the body and is comfortable to no one else but to her. But there are still many things about underwear that many people including women don’t know. If you wear the wrong pair of underwear, there is a risk of you catching up an infection. So, Jumia, Nigeria’s No.1 shopping destination, discuss some things that you should know and some rules that you should follow. Let it breathe You know tight-hugging underwear are time and again uncomfortable when worn for long period of time, it’s also not healthy for your vagina as it tends to limit airflow. Well-fitting underwear made with the right material is very important. While buying online fancy panties, cotton material undergarments are the best as they have really nice breathability. Use skin-friendly detergent Your skin is very sensitive and the skin down there is much more sensitive. So for washing your underwear always use a skin friendly detergent which is free of perfumes and dyes and is made for your sensitive skin. Avoid using bleach. Change them You should change your underwear daily and should also avoid sitting too long in the same pair of underwear. This is advised because your underwear traps a lot of moisture. In fact, yeast and bacteria multiply really fast in the wet and warm environment. Also, underwear’s have a shelf life, after some point of time, the elastic gets lose and is not worth it. Check stains Always see to it that your underwear doesn’t have dirty stains and the discharge and the stains can speak a lot about your health and if things are working best down under. Be careful with thongs The thongs are designed in such a way that they encourage the promotion of transmission of bacteria into and towards the vagina. Instead of struggling with a G-string and thongs, you can do boyshorts panty online shopping as they are much more comfortable. Source: 6 Proven Underwear Tips for Women cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44 |
By Kurtis Adigba In the course of my daily activities (struggles), I meet many people; in public offices and private organizations. They are all concerned about the state of things in Nigeria, and want to see things change for the better! They are also, very aspirational about the future- they hope to occupy higher offices, and perform better than the present crop of leaders. But in my dealings with many of them, I found the opposite to be the case. The man or woman, who has just lectured me on the sorry state of things in the country; and laid out ways he or she intend to do things differently in higher position, won’t do his or her job without me paying a facilitation fee. Files will not be treated, or moved to the next table without a tip. This happens even with openly religious folks! No place is sacred. No emotional state, is deterring. When my friend passed almost 3 years ago in a hospital, in Lagos, the morgue attendant, was not willing to accept his corpse for deposit until he was settled. He had invented an excuse of no space; but after settlement, he created the space. There are many more examples of these behaviors, in different places, and by different people. Friends, the pervasive thinking that you will do things better, or rightly, when you rise, or occupy higher position, or authority, is delusional and a tantalizing mirage. More power, or higher position, will not change your character, or make you a better person. On the contrary, it will only reveal the true you, and expose your worst instincts. Power, don’t change people, it reveal who they are. Higher office, or greater power, will not confer on you integrity if you don’t have it. Integrity, is a virtue that is deliberately imbibed and cultivated. It is not given by power, or office. It has to be learned. If you are not honest as a Treasurer of a local Community meeting, you won’t be honest as a Treasurer of a department of any government organization. If integrity is not your strong quality as a state Governor, or minister, you won’t find integrity as a president. Stop deceiving yourself! I have said this before: the dancing competition arena, is not the place you go to learn how to dance, no, it is a place to display your acquired dancing skills. If you don’t have the skills already, you are just going to make a mockery of yourself, and miseries for others. If you have been wondering why ordinarily good people who are so passionate about doing good, go into government and fail, look no further. The reason is simple: they are not grounded in the values and virtues they talk about. They had thought that higher office, or more power, will enhance their capacities for good. No, it doesn’t. Michelle Obama, former First Lady of the US said” the presidency does not change people, it reveals who they are”. Friends, be who you want to be now. Do you what you want to do in your current positions. You can’t give what you don’t have. God bless Nigeria. Source: How Nigerians Sabotage Nigeria cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44 |

Do you often have problems in digesting a meal? If you have ever wondered about the reason, it is probably because you eat foods that should never be combined. This causes problems in digestion. You probably have painful gas, heartburn, and an upset stomach. Jumia, Nigeria’s leading online food ordering platform, shares food combinations to avoid like a plague. Your health will benefit a lot. Dairy and pineapple Sour fruits such as pineapple cause the digestive system to work a little slower. Pineapple also contains bromelain, an enzymic complex that can cause health issues when combined with dairy products. If you’re adding fruit to your yoghurt, try apricots instead of pineapple. Or, skip the fruit and add oats or honey. A sandwich and coffee Many people eat breakfast on-the-go, especially when they’ve had a hectic morning and they’re running late for work. A breakfast sandwich and a cup of coffee have become a regular meal choice. The problem is, the simple carbs in bread prevent the calcium in the cheese from being digested properly. Adding instant coffee to the mix ends up providing zero benefits when it comes to heart health. Potatoes and meat A steak and fries might sound like a delicious meal. Unfortunately, it’s not the healthiest combination. The starch in potatoes needs alkalotic digestive fluids, while the proteins in meat need acidic digestive fluids. When you eat them together, the foods can end up causing heartburn, gas and other digestive issues. Don’t eat meat and fried potatoes. Tomatoes and cucumbers Tomatoes and cucumbers are a popular combination for a healthy and refreshing salad. But adding these two ingredients together can actually disturb the biochemical pathways of your body. The mixture can cause swelling, and the vitamins that the foods contain won’t be digested properly. Eat these foodsseparately instead of together! Banana and milk Sweet fruits that contain a lot of natural sugar can stay inside the body for a longer period of time. This can cause the digestive system to slow down, especially when you combine them with milk. Source: See the 5 Food Combinations that May Affect Your Health

This article summarizes what the controversial Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB) is about 1. It means Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (to become PIGA when assented to by the president) 2. It is one of the 4 offshoots of PIB – the others are Petroleum Industry Fiscal Bill (to take care of taxes, royalties and other fiscal matters in the petroleum sector), Petroleum Industry Administration Bill (to address issues relating to oil licenses etc) and the Petroleum Host and Impacted Communities Bill (to address the issues of areas producing or impacted by oil producing activities) 3. PIGB sets the structure and institutional framework of the oil and gas industry. Sets out government regulatory and commercial participation in the industry. 4. It merges DPR, PPPRA, and the Petroleum Inspectorate to become one regulatory agency – the Petroleum Regulatory Commission (PRC). This will be the chief regulator and enforcer of the oil and gas industry policies and laws, doing what DPR, PPPRA and PI are doing now. 5. PRC shall be independent of Petroleum Minister and shall be run by a Board consisting of reps from Finance, Petroleum and Environment ministries as well as 8 other members nominated by president and approved by Senate. 6. At the moment, DPR is entirely answerable to the Petroleum Minister who has the right to hire or fire DPR boss. PRC will not allow that. Rep of Petroleum Ministry will only be one of the GC members – just a vote. 7. PIGB scraps NNPC and creates 2 new companies to replace it – the National Petroleum Asset Management Company (NAPAMC) and the Nigeria Petroleum Company (NPC)8. The 3rd successor to NNPC, Nigerian Petroleum Liability Management Company (NPLMC) shall be established to take over the current liabilities of NNPC and DPR. Once it settles these liabilities, it shall be liquidated. 9. NAPAMC shall run like a company (and subject to CAMA and SEC rules) with shares held by Petroleum Ministry (40%), Finance Ministry (40%) and BPE (20%), effectively still owned by government but not the typical government company. 10. NAPAMC shall take over NNPC assets in PSCs (deep offshore contracts with IOCs) 11. NPC shall run like a company (also subject to CAMA and SEC), with initial shareholding structure like that of NAPAMC, but within 10 years, it must divest 40% of its shares to the public through the NSE. In other words, by the 10th year of the passage of PIGB, the private investors will own up to 40% of NPC (one of the 2 replacements to NNPC). 12. NPC takes over the current JV assets of NNPC. 13. Current NNPC employees shall be transferred to NPC and NAPAMC 14. The fact that the 2 successor companies to NNPC will now be subject to CAMA and SEC rules will make them more transparent. The secrecy in its accounting will be over. Source: PIGB for Dummies cc: Lalasticlala, Mynd44 |
