Try it, and if you survive the ordeal without any injury then you most likely are not in Nigeria... |

mayo47: We really dont know the definition of the word "WEALTHY". Please what you said above is untrue. Nigeria is no where a wealthy nation. A country with a gdp per capita of around $2k - $5k is no where near wealthy. I guess we should reconsider our choice of words sometimes. I am not sure what you mean by perpetual recession because Nigeria is already in recession and we're partly saved by borrowing from IMF my comment was purely satirical |

Pastor are you blaming President Buhari for the incompetence of the States, & Local Government, or don’t you understand the Democrazy we practice in Nigeria?
Security is everyone’s business, which begins from the 36 Chief security officers of each individual state (The Governors), not 1 man in Abuja, 36 is stronger than 1, different states have different security challenges, the President can’t solve it from Abuja, one hat can’t fit all? until you hypocrites stop deceiving yourself with this rubbish Democrazy things will only get worse. I get your point doc, however I have some questions, please sir enlighten us, because we dunno; Who is the Commander in chief of "armed forces" in Nigeria, "36", "3" or "1"? What is the job of the armed forces in Nigeria? If the armed forces in Nigeria fail to meet up national expectations of service, who is to blame... "36", "3" or "1"? |

Oracleforce: Not really because those countries citizens value their reputation more than an average Naija citizen. A lot of Naija can sell their conscience or sell their family properties to keep living in the UK or US .....I'm yet to see any UK that sold his property to Japa come to Nigeria. Not really, here's the ironic part... even if one overstays his papers in Nigeria, its easy to get an extension (if you pay what it takes). So there may be many illegals in Nigeria, but if push becomes shove they know what to do. |

Claudiusdeux: For once I agree with Bubu...
The problem with our borders is that they were arbitrary lines drawn in the sand at the Berlin confence of 1885, by colonilaisits , most of whom did not know the land they were carving up...and subsequently people were just split into groupings they knew nothing about.
When the OAU came along, they signed a pact to 'respect the borders'...so the colonial borders became reality.
But let's be honest, they are still lines on the ground. What Buhari said can be said for most African borders....excepting probably South Africa...which has something of a fence so to speak
And while what he said is wrong....adequately fencing and improving security along our borders is going to cost a lot of money
(P.S This comment does not mean I approve of the insecurity of our borders, and the insincerity of our government in dealing with the insecurity. The problem is, the basis of the borders themselves get k-leg. The OAU knew this in 1963, but since the alternative was crisis ....they kept the old borders) I really don't know how to reply this post because I am thoroughly disappointed... So pathetic border insecurities and underdevelopment in 2020, is because of 1963 agreements? Over 60 years and no government could begin something ?? In that case progress does not exist in Nigeria... |

Personlly I am about 6ft (183cm), though I think from 5'10(178-180cm) is an ideal height for a guy to be considered as quite tall...
However in Holland you'd still feel short with that height as a guy, because many ladies comfortably stand at 5'11 (181cm) and children get to peak height faster these days... in the end ideal height is kinda relative to location. |

Vaughanlanrewaj: The reason they maybe dragging foot on this is because many Nigerians and foreigners who call Nigeria home can get trapped in the UK and start giving the embassy over there problems.
It is catch 22-22 but the government will eventually think of the best thing to do and act.
Those asking government to ban flights immediately may be doing so now because their relatives are currently in the country. No thats not how it works... Coming from the perspective of violated visas, if an individual was caught in a lockdown and can provide proof of a return ticket to his home country, provisions can be made for visa extensions (especially the UK) due to covid19. Secondly provided there is a proof of return the government supports the welfare of such stuck individuals (as they did in the earlier lockdowns to individuals who could not return to their respective destinations). Thirdly Airlines also assist in such situations (like they did earlier) Nigeria's embassy would not be dealing with the welfare of stuck travellers (as they never have) ... Bottom line the Government is displaying gross incompetency by being slow to address this emergency, waiting till there's a heavy arrival of people from the UK due to Christmas holidays increasing transmission risks of this new covid strain, before erecting control measures. Don't you just love Nigeria? |

jajeri3216: The database with your finger print and picture should be the root . Eg bvn
All existing databases should be linked to this.
Eg.if you have bvn , you should be able to register for nin online by answering a few security questions like date of birth.
Once your nin is set up , just update all the phone numbers on the platform. You are in the spirit bro, there has to be a root Database. I suggested the NIN because; 1-it should have a Social security management system, the BVN could be used as the root Data, if it had a social security management system allocated to it. 2-Secondly the BVN has no tangible id means, ie a readable card, its more or less like a password with biometrics attached to it, however the NIN has a tangible id which is the National card, so if the cards are created with electronic readability (like atm cards), its best to be used as the root Database. The Biometrics and account data of the BVN can be integrated to the National id card. |
Politics › Re: SERAP Asks Buhari To Stop NIN Registration, Withdraw Threat To Block SIM Cards by optimusprime2(m): 1:03pm On Dec 20, 2020 |
No I don't agree to this... There has to be a root database that can link to the other identification means, and in this case the NIN is the social security number.
BVN Passport And Drivers licence creates room for multiple databases therefore complicating the social security system.
I support the NiN to be registered to a number and the number to the BVN and BVN to the driver's licence/passport student id or whatever id that the citizen posseses, the NIN being the root Database which contains all data, thereby making the national identity card an integrated piece of identification, that is compulsory for every citizen.
That would make the national card viable for travelling within visa free regions in the absence of a passport. And for petes sake make the card electronic!
Sometimes I wonder about people in leadership positions in Nigeria honestly... |
