athenswonders:It's great that you have set a goal for your study path. South American countries are good to study in, however there is one small challenge that could become a major hindrance in your quest, that is "Language"... You might ask how? Well the thing is, English is rarely used for academic delivery on graduate study programmes i.e masters et al, as well as for academic admissions in most South American countries... basically even to pursue the graduate admissions procedure would be very challenging, because you would barely have correspondence in English from many institutions. This has left many aspiring students to leave their quests halfway done, due to the fact that they got fed up at some point. To solve this challenge, familiarise yourself with either Spanish or Portuguese in the case of Brazil. .. essentially, take Language classes as it is very important. However in the absence of that challenge, many South American countries are truly wonderful... in terms of affordable living costs, great weather, ease of obtaining residency in the long run, happy/exciting lifestyles, cheaper education etc... I would however recommend that you do an indepth research about schooling in Costa Rica... Thank me later. |

terimakasih:You could try it and inform us how it goes... |
Jorussia:What are you talking about? The Kremlin is very interested in the next American president, because in this case Biden is more likely to consolidate European alies against Russia... that is a major worry, especially since Russia has a particular case with Ukraine. Russia's thorn in the flesh now is Europe and an American supported Europe is not what the Kremlin would appreciate. Trump on the other hand is disconnecting the US from unnecessary alliance's like NATO, which is a major relief for Russia. Secondly Biden and Harris would be rather weak when it comes to head on power confrontations, they would opt for diplomacy and by the book resolutions unlike the Trump antics which were erratic and unconventional...that worked with stubborn governments like Russia to make blind deals, sometimes even Putin didn't understand Trump despite their strange relationship. However there was an understanding. Lastly try to understand that Obama and Russia were not the best of pal's and Biden only brings back bad memories, so you think Russia is not interested? |
Like seriously what is this? |

@Bolded, Yes but it is too far. That's true, the discouraging thing about New Zealand is that insane distance. However I personally like the lifestyle and scenery of New Zealand. In the end it all depends on you ... But might I chip in that given your profile, your best shot at immigration would be going through the student route. |
Hadampson:Glad to be pulled in here. I am happy that you are doing proper research before your migration, and that's all sorts of brilliant. Latin America is really underrated I would say, but for good reason... the language. Once you format your self to reside in any of the countries there for example Chile, you kinda get stuck there because they slowly seep into your soul and you get attached (South American magic) I know a guy who went to Paraguay in the plan that he would relocate to an English speaking country after getting papers... today he is married and settled and loves Paraguay to a fault, he got citizenship but trust me he is indeed a proud citizen, who is not thinking about leaving anymore. Most Latin American countries actually give citizenship/PRs faster than any other country but these things are not known because people don't naturally tilt towards that region I.e Paraguay 3-4years, Chile 4years, Uruguay 3-4yrs, Brazil could even be 2years depending on what happens to you while there i.e you grab the language fast, you got one of their hot women pregnant, or you earn a very fat salary etc. However as a black guy I would not recommend Argentina to you, because they have a rather subtle way in which their society sends black people to the background. Schooling is the best route to go towards Latin America and begin your journey but the procedure can be very longwinded especially since most schools there do not have English speaking admissions personnel. My stance for Europe remains unchanged... its overated. Have you considered New Zealand? |
If I say Nigeria will be better off divided into 2 countries, people will grumble .... |
Jayne07:Canada, if you have the requirements |
Very soon Nigerians will start immigrating to Madagascar in droves because Buhari would have wrecked every thing completely... |
How did this guy get 2nd term? |
But seriously, whoever said Satan looks like this? |
I can picture what must have happened.... She probably must have given her children a good whacking and it got to the ears of the neighborhood who easily dialed 911... You do not beat children up in the U.S. like you in Africa, the repercussions are usually dire. |
Rilwan3628:You are missing the point completely.... This protest, should have been done at the ministry of foreign affairs. Nigeria is amongst the red listed countries to visit the EU as regards to corona restrictions, and the ministry of foreign affairs has done nothing progressive to challenge that tag, so what do you expect? No matter how people protest at that embassy, it can't change the EUs policy on travel, as they are battling a second wave of Covid 19. This is a job for the government, but the government is failing on various levels and of course it's affecting the citizens as well on this regard, try to understand, a visa is a privilege not a right. |
stagger:Boss, you deserve a barrel of beer for this post. |
When people warn insistently to check up on countries you intend to "go and hussle" before actually making that journey, those warnings are thrown out the window... Well, long story short, This is what you get. |
FlackoJodye:As much as there are sad stories about that, there are also happy stories about marrying from Nigeria. But for real if that's not your cup of tea, then immerse yourself in the culture and get to understand how to get along with the ladyfolk there. Because I can easily tell you haven't culturally integrated there, You are still using a "Naija mindset" to socialize and that's not going to get you far. |
FlackoJodye:My advice for you: integrate into Canadian culture properly, then the rest will fall into place. Otherwise go to Nigeria and marry what you are familiar with, don't forcefeed yourself food you don't understand. |
onyechez:There's nothing tangible? But you successfully summarized my analysis. Those 7 points I listed are phases most people experience before getting "settled" like you said. now, that settlement is not an automatic entitlement, there is a process to it. My emphasis is what goes on during that process, that make people to gradually disconnect from home communication. However some never reconnect after getting settled. It's great you established contact with your cousin, however it doesn't happen for everyone. I bolded your summary so you would catch my drift. But you got my attention though, You stated "after the person has settled"... my question for you is; "is it everyone who travels abroad that gets settled?" Secondly I was analysing a case of the US as regards to the OP' s question, and you brought UK into the fray(apples and oranges)... My second question for you; "Does the US and UK have the same dynamics of survival as an immigrant?" |
