I came across this thread https://www.nairaland.com/7744346/knew-what-know-now-marry and i was glad seeing some persons who stated they would over and over again choose their current spouse and it got me curious about finding how they got to meet their spouses and made their choice for a life partner.
I feel those intending to be married could learn one or two from their stories.
Please let us know how you got to meet your partner and what made you decide to settle for them.

Be ready to pay for their services at exorbitant amounts.
You need to have an empowered people before cutting off services.
The problem of this country isn't in subsidizing certain services but the corruption while doing it.
Secondly, removing these subsidies makes more monies available to the govt but to what use? More looting i presume.
How have you utilized the monies available? Are they well accounted for?
The masses are the ones making the sacrifices even though majority are poor but you keep your allowances at an exhorbitant amount still and you want us to believe you have the interest of the masses at heart. I am no fool

Elections have consequences, but on the subsidy matter, we had reached point zero. It did not matter who we elected (and no, I still wish we voted APC out, completely)...the subsidy was becoming unsustainable. We were paying a large chunk of our revenue with borrowed money on top for the thing.

Nigerians were to choose between a leader and a ruler but unfortunately, some people made it possible for a ruler to come into power.
Evidently, Peter Obi is very empathetic and that is a key quality of leadership.
Yes he would have removed subsidy too but the difference is in the how he would have gone about it.
I bet you it wouldn't have been difficult for nigerians as it is now if it were obi implementing the subsidy removal

Get her to see a professional psychologist that can get to unravel the root cause of her unhappiness and help her come out of it

I started having issues with my eyes in 2014 (prior to that, they were in good condition)
I had blurriness. When I visited the eye clinic, I was given drugs(had reactions to those, boils but I finished them) and glasses.
Fast forward to the present, I still use my glasses
I visited an eye clinic to change my glasses a few months back, they suggested I test for glacomma(I did the test)
Well, the doc said that I should do another test in 6 months to compare and see if I do have glacoma (that there is no definitive test)
Ok the issue bothering me, (he warned me that my brain might start just using my right eye only since left eye is significantly weaker, both lenses has the same prescription).
I have been conscious of that fact and from time I close one eye to check if there is improvement or otherwise.
I go about my everyday business quite fine, am just not satisfied with my diagnostic or results currently, and would like a recommendation of an eye clinic to try, am based in delta state.
Also, I noticed when I use an inhaler to clear any nose blockage (left or right), it kinda relief stress in the eye(I find that tearing up can also relief stress).
My left eye is blurry, it is itchy sometimes hence whenever it tears up it relaxes
My condition may also be hereditary, my dad has eye defects too.

i am sorry i really do not know so much about clinics in delta. You could search on google to find results on clinics around you

While on Betaxolol it measured 12 but it later started measuring 21 at some point so I was placed on another drop DuoSopt while on DuoSopt it measured 15 but now I was told 18.

The time of the day when the measurements were made was afternoon.

well we cannot conclude with just one measurement, continue on the duosopt and repeat measurement while on it. Let's see what the next is

It used to measure 12, 15. There was a time it was measuring 22 when I was using Betaxolol so It was changed to DuoSopt in 2021. So I have been on that DuoSopt since 2021. My corneal thickness has never been measured.

on how many occasions were the pressures 12, 15? What meds were you on then? What time of the day were these measurements made?

In our previous discussion. I told you I didn't do any CVF check last year and no pressure check too due to some things that happened to me and my family. And you advised me to do a check up to ascertain if the disease is not progressing I went today but only pressure was checked and was given an appointment to come back October to see a consultant which is too far for me. The pressure measured 18 that is why I asked such question just to know if the pressure is not high for my condition.

what was the pressure it used to be? Was your corneal thickness measured at any time?

there is no one fit all presure for glaucoma. Everyone with their unique case. The goal is to get the pressure where there is no progression of the disease

CBN provides majority of the forex whether it is official or black market.

What we have is the CBN sells out huge amounts to a few people at official rate this makes the amount available for eveyone to be reduced.

Also CBN having a very low official rate discourages individuals who source their forex from selling officially.

So if we have sincerity of purpose, CBN can float the naira and stop defending it but allow the market forces to decide its value.
Also the Fg can take a step further by encouraging local substitute in diverse ways as well as making tax waivers and other incentives.

the question is who are the people being given these forex to by the cbn? The average nigerian doesn't get forex from cbn. You cannot give the wrong people forex and now giving the excuse that they sell the dollars to merchants at the black market to devalue naira and not considering the impact it would be having on the economy.

what you described here seems like Hordeoleum. Antibiotic eye drops or ointment would do fine for it

Not really the point, the true value of naira is not that our official rate, recently CBN released that they have spent over 2.4 trillion as subsidy to defend the naira which doesn't make economic sense.

CBN sell at official rate to only a few elites and these elites create the black market.

CBN can eliminate the black market by making the dollar to float, that's the aim.

When the dollar floats, you wouldn't have double exchange anymore

the major problem i think cbn is facing as regards this, is not having dollars. Floating dollars to compete against black market vs inflation from naira devaluation, which should be concerning as regards impact on economy?

1. The banks have never made forex easily accessible! So, the argument that devaluing the naira would encourage people to leave black market and approach the banks doesnt hold water! The forms to fill and protocols make it discouraging!

2. This move is a recipe for disaster. CBN will still complain of unavailability of forex..and this will compel black market to hike it further to even N1000

3. No one will take forex to CBN to sell for N630 when haboki is willing to pay 750!

This theory by FG & CBN is just to pull wool over our eyes! Forgerrit joor!

That official rate is an imaginary rate that is only available for a very few elites.

Most importers currently buy dollars at more than 700 naira.


If the CBN allows the Naira to float, it means importer's have no need to go and buy forex in black market because CBN wouldn't be selling at official rates to elites who then will sell to the black market.

Also it will encourage private players to bring in their dollars and officially change in bank as they would make money

at your first point, the black market wouldn't have been an option to importers in the first place if the dollars were available at cbn. To your other point, even with the devaluation, black market still trades at a higher rate in exchange for naira. I really do not see how this would make private players release their dols to cbn. In anyway you want to analyze it, it is catastrophic to the economy

it doesn't make sense still and wouldn't make dollar available to cbn. Who would sell to cbn when you can sell to the black market at a better rate? Besides, what positive impact would it have on our economy?

your own pepper is coming. I bet love would be clear from your eyes by that time. Was she not aware you were having a daughter before deciding to marry you? You need to take leadership of your home and that involves taking responsibility for the well being of every member of your family and of course your daughter. You married wrongly but do not allow your child suffer for your wrong choice of a wife. You were selfish in choosing a wife but didn't factor if she would make a good mother for your child. You really have to protect that child from the undeserved aggression from your wife. This is the time to take a stand for justice and say no to wickedness irrespective of who it is coming from. If you tolerate it now rather that fight against it, someday, you ll become its victim. Take note

On Friday I woke up with my right eye red and slightly painful then the second day the two eyes are red and slightly painful especially when I bend to pick something. By Sunday afternoon the eyes are cleared and fine.
Today, I woke up again with left eye red and slightly painful.

What I noticed is that this happened after taking cough medication on Thursday. Last night I took medication for sore throat due to ear infection.
Please, advise. I plan to visit the clinic later this week.

well , i really cannot say what might have been the cause. Try make a clinic appointment for that

Should i keep changing opticians , 3 in lagos and one in Anambra yet no solution , Why i have to leave with this forever ?

I sympathize with you on your ordeal. The last glasses you did, how long ago did you get them?

ensure your lenses are clean first . I get patients sometimes who complain their glasses no longer help them see well; only to discover that their lenses are not clean. Secondly Do a blood sugar test and if ok, you may probably have to get an artificial tear drops and see if it helps

Good day doctor. I am having lots of floaters form an accident I had almost a year back. The doctor says there is nothing I can do. But I heard that there is laser therapy for it to destroy the floaters. Pls I wanted to inquire where I can get the procedure done in Nigeria and how much.

you should probably have a comprehensive eye exam to rule out for a retinal tear . I really cannot make a recommendation where you can get laser treatment for floaters in Nigeria as I am not aware of any yet

it largely depends on the cause of the floaters.

They said I have uveitis and gave me some anti inflammatory drugs.

yes it will since it's as a result of the uveitis you are having. When that is resolved, you should be good. All the best

it's what should be examined in a clinic setting. You should make an appointment for one

You wouldn't get a good advice here as we really do not have the whole picture. Seeking ways to punish your wife may not even be a good way in addressing this. I advise you both should see a professional marriage counselor.

Good day. I developed eye floaters in both eyes lots of them about six months ago. I didn't know the reason why. I had no injury and was perfectly fine. I went to some eye clinics but they gave me eye drops and glasses all to no avail. Pls any help it's really killing my mental health and it's getting worse. I am just 20yrs old and to young to be having such problems.

you really would be needing a thorough Clinical workup. Visit a well equipped clinic. What's the state of your general health? Did the floaters come with a drop in your vision? It isn't really what i can address online. You really should visit a good clinic ASAP

Plateau state but I don't mind wherever the hospital is, as far it's one of the best in Nigeria to do the surgery.
