TWoods:
Prayer is the key to what?
@oga Twood, You either have everything working for you or you've never gone out here to get anything done in Naija, else you won't marvel at why God, Prayer, religion is huge business in Nigeria.
Here everything depends on God.
You want to make that urgent bank transfer? You pray for your bank to have "network", else....
You're rushing someone to the emergency of any hospital in Nigeria? You pray for the needed drugs, machines and personnel to be available, functioning, else...
You are coming back from work, tired and need that weekend rest? You'll have to pray for NEPA, the traffic warden, your neighborhood church (or it will be in session blaring noise into your bedroom) and the Jumaat prayers of course, else the road might still be blocked by bowing folks.
If you are not prayerful enough, the day you will need to make that life and death phone call will be the day all the network service providers will be "having challenges" and frustrate your already twisted hustle. Who do you report? NCC? Nah. "God punish MTN" will be your best call. And that too requires faith.
In Nigeria you just have to be very prayerful. Even the government recognizes it cannot do anything if the citizens don't pray hard enough to God. So at every turn they ask citizens to pray, pray and pray! In fact government functions actually begin with prayers from one religion and end with prayers from the other.
Prayer is the key to everything here except for those with the right connections and political power. To these, prayer is merely a superfluous gesture of identification with the horde of praying folks, a kind of gesture of humility.
You are an undergraduate? You need prayers against ASUU strikes, missing scripts, lecherous lecturers, gun-wielding students...honey you need prayers to graduate.
You are a young graduate in need of a job and even a spouse? Church is the key.
That bigman in your congregation will notice you with your pink monkey jacket always greeting folks and directing them on where and how to park their cars and consider you to be very humble and godly and find you that coveted spot in his ministry.
Forget that there's no advert in the papers. The real jobs don't get advertised my friend. You just fill the right forms and gbam! you are in and your pastor will sing and dance as you testify to the power of the living God of Daddy Apostle.
If you can attend all your prayers and ensure you have major roles in your Jumaat mosque, my friend one day your imam will announce that a bigman says he has a couple of slots in his ministry and you, my friend will scream alhamdulillah! as your name will be the first on the list.
See, in Nigeria, everything depends on God. Even when you can afford to pay for steady internet connectivity, you still have to pray for the network service providers else, half your sub will go to waste and there's nothing you can do except report them to God. Now tell me why people won't pray to have visa?
People need prayers my friend. Loads of it.

Sorry to say, there are alot of contradiction in your. Previous post and this one, you might need to explain where there is

Olusegun26:
From SRA (Silent reader association) but fired PMs to experts
( you want alot of Pm Too abi) for clarity .. Did the normal procedures before interview...

Interview proper...

Firstly, I would like to alarm this particular comment-- nairaland.com is good, but wouldn't teach you so certain things - soft skills. Easier to read comments but more importantly, practice, practice and practice.. Not by my own power too, na God o. Hallelujah

I must say my intension was to take charge of the conversation, which i was able to achieve.

VO: Hello Sir, Good morning

O26: (ahah, in my mind), Good morning, hope you had a fantastic weekend.

V.O: he said nice things... (nice starting). So why are you going to the US?

O26: I'm going to Lincoln University (LU) in CA for a 2-year Master's degree program in MBA with a concentration in Management Information System after which I will go back to my for a career advancement.

In your previous post you mentioned mocrobiology

V.O: you live in Europe (he mentioned the country)

O26: Yes, i live and work there. If you noticed that i have also completed an M.Eng there.

V.O: what do you do?

O26: mentioned the company's name, a front-end programmer (software testing-- gave examples, fraud investigation and developing interactive GUIs) you forgot to mention that you are a Phd student of neuroscience abi

V.O: oh i can see you've a good profile, so why going for an MBA this, and not in this country, why .. Now here i completely pulled his attention.. He further asked, or is it because of CA is a hub for IT (Oh Bros, I noticed he tried to trap me there - -if i say "yes" penre, ah, na immigrant intent be that)

O26: (took the questions one after the other): To put it in perspective, LU is a business oriented school that offers an affordable +custom fit education.. I would like to take advantage of the multidisciplinary research center(i learned this from their website, added my own stories too) that entertains the collaboration of business professionals + student from diverse IT backgrounds in providing solution to real world problem..I chose US because her schools are of prime recognition, and comprise of professors... (said something can't remember again :: soft skills). 3. (Not because of the IT hubs in the region.. brought him back, proving myself as a legit student). I remember i said something like "this program will groom me to become an IT business architect with an understanding of... Analyzing, defining and building information system requirements and guiding other on how to build their for various business situations... Was just talking and he was listening..

V. O: How many schools did you apply to?
O26: 3 Lincoln University, Weber state university, Missouri State University

V. O: who will sponsor this trip?
O26: my mother, she's an orthopedist, essentially I'm gainfully employed as previously discussed and I've a liquid cash of * EUR.

Your visa has been approved, pick it up...

O26: (for my mind) Hey chairman, you collect all my passport - wetin happen
V. O: you wan collect am now?
O26: hmm, not really..

No documents checked, no questions about marriage..

Additional things he might have seen: my traveling experience (man don Waka for Europe o), USA B2 still valid.. been to US more than...

Maybe these gave me an edge: Almighty God (Surely), my eloquence, my accent (amerikish.. Lol), confidence (worked with many of them before) and preparation... In spite of my nice profile, bros i prayed and prepared...

Sorry to those refused visas today.. Please ask questions here.. I think there are no stupid questions. Pray and fire back..

I was unhappy to see a guy refused visa today.. I think he used an agent, and his Mr agent arranged a fake I20 for him (tried multiple times, but all proved abortive).. I'm not here to mock anyone but please stay away from agents.. You can do it yourself..!

@Theamerican, i encourage you not to stop guiding folk here, do as your mind pleases.. You rock ma'am.. Keep it up.

Thanks to many gurus here... You guys are great. I'll inbox you back...Kudos to
Scholarstica, theamerican, 4peace4, @akin3103,pianoguy, dollydolly, biikeys, jesusbabygirl(my sister from another mother), lyrondee and those that asked questions, i learnt a lot from all of you. Cheers..
This is your. previous post on another thread

I'm Male, 26, Lagos embassy. Single. US First timer..

Before finger scanning, a lady I'm the embassy asked for my hardcopy passport... Ahah, I said I don't have beside, it is clearly written that only digital is acceptable.. She said 'yes I know' and later asked for my mailing address which I provided as she typed, then proceeded to my scanning section...

O-- Olusegun26
V. O - - visa officer
Followed by interview proper..
V. O: good morning
O: Good morning. How was your weekend?
V. O: good, and yours?
O: nice.
V. O: Where do you live?
O: I told him the schegen state where I reside
V. O: what are you doing there(making fun.. Ahah maybe because it's so cold )?
O: I live, study and work there.. Plus I flashed him my residence permit (living permit not study permit).
(He did not ask me why I came to Nigeria to apply.. Not!)
V. O: good. This salary **** is in what currency?
O: Euros
V. O: Why are you going to the US?
O: Annual vacation, will be staying in upper west of Manhattan, for 2weeks, visiting the science rooms... interested in seeing the phagocytic bacteria
V. O: What do you do?
O :told him my background (microbiology), explained my job functions.

V. O: oh what are you studying?

O: PhD student of neuroscience.(+ I flashed him my school card.
V. O: what's your dissertation all about?
O: Neural substrate of mood and emotions in Azheimer patients.
V.O: hmm. Who pays for this trip.
O: myself (I work).
V. O : Where have you traveled to?
O. Ahaha( I happy), Germany, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Malta, Sweden, Italy..
V. O: (Cuts in) all these in Schengen zone?
O: yea, plus I've been to India.
V. O: India, to do what?
O:..i explained

V. O : are you married?
O: No,. After I have completed my doctoral program.
V. O: I will approve your visa....
O: many thanks.

Mind you, my accent was American (I've worked with them and have many as friends.. That's doesn't matter anyways but gives me load of confidence since we can both hear ourselves with no excuse me, ehn ehn, come again  )..

1. Ignore those th*gs around.. Get the trio ready.. DS160 confirmation page, gtbank receipt and appointment confirmation.
2. I think it's more of academic, convince these guys and look them straight in their eyes... (dem no carry firewood ma).
3. Say wetin de your ds160 and be mentally prepared without contradicting yourself.

4. Be calm in spite of noise, side talks, be still and calm and concentrate.. Don't be drifted.

Special thanks to Seyewest.. Your bottle of wine awaits you, kindly claim your price.

I asked questions Here because I was confused while filling the form, he took his time to explain.

Let me chip this in... Fill your form yourself.

First timer, Don't worry if you made mistakes while filling your form prior to your appointment, refill and refill until you perfect it because your fingerprints sealed the last ds160 attached to your appointment permanently. Again, fear not(like me, I was scared to refill and refill)..

I'll share my poe experience next week.

Above all, pray to God, be shrewd and avoid legible misrepresentation which might cost you instantly.
I wish you all the best.

Sorry bro, no idea of how publishing works but you could Google for the best publishing houses around. Though Amazon's goodwill makes it a good option, I think you should stick around some more before opening on Amazon, someone may have something better to advise on.

Good day VO

I applied for I class visa in December 2015 to cover an event in the state, but was denied, I was a journalist then and worked for a popular print media, my two attempt at visa was unsuccessful, I assumed it was due to the fact that I have Presbycusis – Loss of hearing that gradually occurs because of changes in the inner or middle ear in individuals, this made ma ask the VO to repeat them selves often before I could hear them well,(a situation I guess they are not pleased with) I have since resigned from the media company and have joined my dad firm, he is sending me for MBA in the United States to get trained so he can offer me a major position in the management team of one of his companies , three schools have admitted me and I'm yet to make final decision on which to attend, my question however Is "how do I politely tell VO that I have presbycusis? Is there a place in DS 160 that I can indicate this? It's not as if I dint hear at all but one have have to speak slowly with clarity (not necessarily loudly) for me to hear, please respond, I hope I don't get deprived of this great opportunity
