Bossforeva: #TeamINNOSON..They have an suv and a pickup as well as about 10 different buses |
While unpopular I am with the government on this one, they are not stopping you from bringing in the tokumbo cars, but you will have to pay to get them. When government did the same thing with clothes a few years ago people screamed, yet look at that sector now in Nigeria it's booming. Until the government made a move like this the automotive industry would never improve. The next step is for the government to stop using foreign produced cars, thereby directly funding the local industry. Can you imagine the sales of innoson if all the arms of government used only their cars? And like all things in life, you get better with experience, innoson is a relatively new company, yet their new buses are quite good, so imagine where they can/will be in 10 years. |
The real issue here is the substandard work. No matter how much got to JB if it was not going to be sufficient to give world class results, they should have rejected the contract plain and simple. They probably cut corners by using cheap/wrong soil under the grass. |
abdul123: a cement bag of grass cost nothing less than N400 and to grass such a field u need nothing less than 150 bags and at most 200 bags please do the maths its not up to 100k, adding soil and any other thing they wud put wnt cost up to 1m plus 1m for local labour instead of julius "rubber" sorry i mean berger in a country where they say unemployment is on d high side. pls my people na how much be all dis money !!! not up to N4m, somebody pls tell me where N92m dey goWhat kind of cheap grass are you talking about? I bring jn grass seeds for a few customers and there is absolutely no grass that is that cheap except u want local crab grass. I know a family that spent 300k on 18sqm of grass, and it's not nearly the grade of grass required for an international pitch. |
Good list, I would suggest that people look over the list and pick a few and work on improving themselves in those areas. |
Quick research on the pierre hotel tells me that the president isn't even staying in the presidential suite, that costs $20k a night, there is actually no room at the pierre that costs 10k a night, so something is fishy somewhere. |
I import used and refurbished laptops, ipads and other stuff from the US. Give me a call 08135544697 |
It would be great if we could locate and put transponders/trackers on them. |
Paid 25k in lagos and got it the same day. |
GAR3TH: I am very confused? What did Julius Berger Rehabilitate? Cutting and maintenance of grass? Really, is that worth celebrating over. And I wont be surprised if the contract signed was over budget, tens of Millions of dollars to cut grass. The didn't just cut the grass, they replaced the sprinkler systems, the top soil and the turf, as well. And if I remember right they have a management contract as well. |
Can the mods please close this thread, the original post is misleading. Or at least lock it so there can't be any more comments |
In order to successfully host the world cup they invested almost a billion USD in Tambo airport, u be the judge is it worth investing even a quarter or that on any airport in Nigeria outside lagos and my be abj? |
Also our airports are not equipped to handle some aircrafts, Tambo had to be remodelled to accommodate the A380, and the second newest aircraft the 787 does fly to Nigeria, I was on it about 2 weeks ago. Also like I said the upgrades at MMIA will go a long way to help us. Airports don't come cheap, Tambo airport spent about $30m so they can accommodate the A380. |
bravolad: I most humbly & sincerely disagree with you that Nigeria not investing to develop our airports is because of low passenger traffic. I have flown several times via Cairo Airport, it's not as busy as Lagos airport even Abuja but Terminal 3 of that airport which Egypt air uses is bigger than the 3 of our airports you mentioned yet they are still expanding. They were built to attract the best. Therefore, ours should be built to attract the best. It is a big shame to begin to make excuses. All our airports look like abandoned old train station. Victoria train station in London is bigger and better than any of them.On the contrary Cairo airport was the busiest in Africa for decades until 2 years ago when Tambo surpassed it, check your facts. And I suspect it's only because of the civil unrest that Tambo was able to pass it. |
Charging for trolleys is common in most airports I have visited around the world. It is an extra revenue stream for the airport/management company. In reality until you have passengers flying to airports it doesn't make sense to invest too heavily in most Nigerian airports. If an airport has an average of 300,000 passengers annually and 4 flights coming in a day you cannot possibly justify investing hundreds of millions in building new airports/terminals. Other than Lagos I don't think any other Nigerian city deserves a bigger airport. Some people may say if you build it they will come, I will respond to that by pointing to Abuja and port Harcourt, after MMIA, Abuja has the second most international passengers with about 500,000+ annually. And of those passengers quite a few chose that route because there was no availability from lagos. Tambo airport in SA served over 18 million passengers last year, it serves as a hub for 7 airlines 5 of which fly international routes. Why did I just say all that? While MMIA is inadequate it's potential has not been maximized, the renovations and additions should boost the airport dramatically though. When the lekki airport is completed it will be an ultra modern airport and should attract a few new airlines as well. |
I flew in the 787 to Houston last week, it was pretty good. The flatbed seats are awesome. Overall experience was great. |
It is harder to get a Nigerian visa than an American #fact. If you don't believe me ask around. |
The Nigerian government has always operated a reciprocal system, for example an American can get a maximum of 2 years visa because that is what they give us. It's not a new thing it's standard operating procedure. So if the require a bond from us we will require one from them. The basic difference between the Nigerian going to London and the brit coming to lagos is that the Nigerian is going to spend money and the brit is coming to earn money. The British government will backtrack after 3-6 months when they see that they are the ones losing out not us. Plus £3,000 is nothing to the man who wants to disappear and get lost in London. |
When were they sold? Can you please tell us your source? The GEJ administration I know will scream to the high heavens if they do anything that could possibly save money (which hardly ever happens). Secondly, I really hope you are not comparing Nigeria and the US when it comes to having cash to run their aircraft. Since you know about the US, can you please tell us how old the Airforce One is? And can you tell us how many planes are in the fleet? Also, did America's budget for maintaining presidential aircraft surpass by almost 80%, the budget of the entire police force? Get yourself straight bro.
Guy calm down and watch your tone, in no way did I compare naija and the states, I simply made a note. And since you know so much about the US you will also know that the police if funded on a state level not federally there. And their fleet size is a lot larger and more expensive than ours, air force 1 (the 757) of which they have 2 cost about $400m yes it may be 20 years old however just one pays for our entire fleet. |
Ok let's get a few things straight, the total fleet size of the presidential fleet is 9 that includes the 3 helicopters. 2 Falcon 900s a G iv and GII were sold. Oh and just a side, the US air force one, (Boeing 757) costs about 180k per hour to operate, and that doesn't include the cost of the other planes(a passenger plane and a cargo plane) that fly with it on most trips. |
Gotta love tradition |
I am looking for a brand new full options hilux Diesel engine for a client, please let me know if you have one. Its Very urgent thanks |
however this pic is from last year seeing as his family hasn't been to SA with him this year #justsaying |
It's funny reading how ignorant people are. We criticise the government so much and so often that we don't see when they have actually done something good. The agricultural sector has not been this buoyant in the last 20 years, fertilizer is more accessible for the farmers now. The roads are better than they have been in the last 14 years. I can't speak for everyone but my power has been more stable in the last 1 year than in the last 15 years. And we say government is soft on corruption but the average Nigeria is corrupt, so the change has to start at the root. The system has to change before we can tackle the people. That's exactly what has been done in the oil sector. If you ask any oil in the oil sector they will tell you how much tighter the system is now, a lot of those loopholes have been plugged. Change is a process not a sudden thing. We need to be patient and actually look at what's happening and not just make the same complaints. |
While he was good I Don't think he was special or great, if you compare him to his age mates overseas you will understand what I mean. He has potential but needs to to of training. My brothers and sisters were in the choir by his age, if you go to music center you will see younger kids doing amazing things. Watch the video in the link below to see what we should be striving towards. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uoFq-Pzldg&sns=em |
When you have money its your choice on how to use it. If you spend 5 million on charity and choose to spend 1million on this baby no one will remember the 5M just that you wasted money on a car. You never know what the owner does for charity or with his money so lets not judge blindly. |
Where are you located in lagos? I have a few guys spread around? |
bird strikes have been recorded several times especially in the north east of the united states, usually its shortly after takeoff or just before landing but there have been incidents at about 30,000 feet. i remember one that happened in NY a few years back. But this was just engine failure. |
amazing stuff |
i lived in the states and roll backs are common there too, the vast majority are done there. our dealers here switch out parts and stuff like that, only very few do roll backs. |
does shoprite count as the market ? |
