So attached are two food receipts from restaurants in Maiduguri Borno state and Portharcourt Rivers state where I went to eat.

It clearly shows VAT are collected in Rivers, but not Borno and most other northern states. I have been to Adamawa, Yobe, Kebbi, Taraba, Bauchi and host of other northern states.

NOTE: I took the pics myself. First one is from Maiduguri, while the second is from portharcourt; and they re all from this month.

.maybe the tax is implicit (included in the cost of the food

I don't understand why everyone is attacking Buhari for something the DSS did. That secret police has a chief and everyone should be calling him out.

We know that Buhari is terribly incompetent, but we cannot continue to blame him for the inadequacies and overzealousness of people who he appointed to run critical institutions of the state.

These people need to understand that they owe the country a duty to serve her, not the clueless Aso Rock herder.

We blame Buhari because if hee wasn't in support they would be doing such things. He has empowered them to go above and beyond the law as well as disregard court rulings
Family / Re: Is It Right For My Niece's Boyfriend To Visit Her In My House? by oseo1(m): 11:26pm On Dec 25, 2020
wwwkaycom:
My niece came visiting for Christmas, I was so glad to have her with us since yesterday. She'll be leaving on Sunday.

We came back from our church programme today and just as we were finishing lunch, this young guy just knocked on the door and my niece Shola went to open the door for him. He came in and she just introduced him casually as Clement, her boyfriend. She led him straight to her room and were there for like 3 hours before the guy left.

I felt insulted and irritated by her action but my wife would not allow me to say anything. She said I will talk to her angrily, she however promised to call her and counsel her gently before bed this night. That must be the kind of rubbish she has been doing in her school because I know she won't even dare it with her parent. She has been telling me her mum especially is high handed and just too tough for her liking.

I'm still not so happy because of my wife's action, or am I been too old school or archaic?

Personally I'd advise that you encourage her to bring the guy and you can interact with him and get to know him. I however would suggest that you let her know that he cannot go into her room, that's the only issue I have with it. Other than that you should encourage her to bring her boyfriend home.

Bullshit. You're a large airline. You can make arrangements or build a small depot to ensure you have at least 1 week supply. Then you make sure you stay ahead by working vigorously behind the scenes to fill that depot.

Even we commoners have a jerry can of petrol or kerosine, or drums of water on standby.

Unfortunately it's not quite that simple, first of all its very very expensive to build a tank farm, secondly even if the do have their own tank farm where will they get the product to put in it?

Why do you think foreign airlines are pulling out of Nigeria? Mind you your government gives a lot of concessions to the foreign airlines that they don't give arik which is our national carrier.

Is this true story? undecided

I just watched the video -- Diezani!!!! shocked shocked shocked

Over $10b loot traced to her and her cronies alone! Didn't you guys watch the video?

Diezani has lawyers who should be able to go ahead and sue Magu, EFCC, and Al Jazeera for defamation.

All her houses busted, from Lagos to London, to Abuja, are all full of cash and immoral jewelries.

Bank execs and INEC officials are all in hot soup and naming her.

The multi billion dollar Atlantic energy scam, and Malabu scam, Tridax, Mezcor, it's her.

Doctoring the PIB, it's her.

And you wonder why she could stoop so low to hitch a first class flight on BA in lieu of her regular chattered flights, just to beg/bribe Bubu before the swearing-in.

Shell my a$$.

Average salaries @ Shell (UK and US) for engineers and similar cat. with years of experience is between $60,000- $200,000

Just so you know her husband is an ex chief of naval staff and military governor, she has also been a minister since 2007 so clearly her money didn't come overnight.
Politics / Re: Hassan Tukur Granted $40m Bail by oseo1(m): 2:44am On May 28, 2016
mohaMADbuari:
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted administrative bail to Hassan Tukur, the principal secretary to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Tukur had been in detention for several days for allegedly diverting $40 million he obtained to negotiate the release of more than 200 Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Islamist insurgents belonging to Boko Haram.

Saharareporters quoted a source as saying that Tukur was detained and interrogated on charges that included his reported pocketing of about $35 million out of $40 million budgeted for negotiating the release of Chibok girls.

The source said Tukur was released yesterday, but ordered to report to the EFCC’s headquarters in Abuja whenever he was required to do so.

Your post is very misleading, the article never mentioned him paying money, it said "administrative bail" meaning it was free

Culture / Re: Oshiomhole Can Never Appoint The Oba Of Benin, Edo Youths Scream Out!!! by oseo1(m): 12:21pm On May 25, 2016
naptu2:
The british invaded Benin in 1897, deposed the oba and exiled him to Calabar. The oba's son, Prince Aiguobasinwin Ovonramwen moved to his aunt's house and began farming in order to earn a living. This he did until the british consul eventually called him back to Benin.

In the meantime, the british consul ruled Benin in conjunction with Chief Agho Ogbedeoyo (the Obaseki of Benin).

Oba Ovonramwen died in 1914 and a succession crisis between Chief Agho Ogbedeoyo and Prince Aiguobasinwin Ovonramwen ensued. It seemed that Chief Ogbedeoyo would be crowned as the new oba, but strong evidence by some Benin chiefs eventually made the british consul rule in favour of Prince Aiguibasinwin. The british consul thus approved the appointment of Prince Aiguobasinwin Ovonramwen as the new Oba of Benin (Oba Eweka II) and that was how the practice of the consul (or governor) approving the appointment of the Oba began.

That was slightly different in that Ovonramwen was overthrown by an act of war, and there were many casualties on both sides. After he was removed Benin then became part of the British empire so they chose the king. Since then it has returned to normal. And the first son of the Oba ascends after his fathers death.

Most of we Nigerian youth lack knowledge of the constitution. So these these Edo youth do not know that the Governor has the right to appoint a king?

This is not Yoruba land, the Oba of Benin is not appointed by the government, there have been Obas since before the constitution was drafted. This statement implies that is the governor does not like an Oba or crown prince he can remove him and that is as false as can be. I dare Oshiomole or even Buhari to try an oust the Oba of Benin, they may succeed in removing him but they will not live to enjoy it.

That's natural occurrence which cannot be prevented. Not like deliberately enriching anyone.

If anything, removing subsidy actually seeks to stop enriching the marketers.

If well policed and run properly the subsidy will not enrich anyone more than the deregulation will, because their profit margins will remain the same. But I maintain that people are being enriched more now.

The landing cost of PMS is somewhere between 110 and 120 how th did they come up with 145 as their magic number? The profit margins have drastically increased since they started selling at 145. And please not that the profit is not going to the stations its going to those same marketers that we are allegedly fighting against. Before their profit was in the N3-5 range per liter now it's close to N20

The land cost of diesel is higher than PMS but yet diesel is sold for cheaper.

Enrich which people by removing subsidy?

Sorry to say, but your thinking is upside down.

A quick example of h its enriching certainly people, they just announce one day tha , new price would would effect. Mind you t marketers already collected product that was subsidised, so I got PMS at say N84 and expected to sell at 87 but now I'm selling at 145, that's a 61 naira profit. Even if I only sold 33,000 liters that's still over 2million extra.

Whilst I recognize that it was a one time profit its still fantastic, and also note that whenever the price is reduced that they will insist o finishing their products before reducing the pump price.
