There are more foreigners trying to come to Nigeria than you can imagine. Even Forbes has written about the potential in the Nigerian economy. I was flying from Lagos to London 3 days ago and on my flight there were 6 white men who were filling out their contracts to come and work in Nigeria.

Also until our high commissions start taking drastic measures the embassies in Nigeria wont shape up. I will tell you the experience my family went through with the Spanish embassy. We were supposed to travel to Spain for a wedding, the wedding guest list from Nigeria was about 75 people long. so we went to the embassy and got their requirements. We made sure everyone met all the requirements and put in our applications. The embassy denied all 28 of us that applied together. And they gave invalid reasons, for example they said some people did not have valid insurance meanwhile every person traveling for the wedding got their insurance through the same company which is recommended by the Spanish embassy. other people they said didn't have valid reasons to travel, for some children they said they didn't have parental consent (when their parents brought them to the embassy, or is a 5 month old going to come and apply himself) others they said they had insufficient funds (some of them that they told that had N40m+ (40 not 4) in their accounts, It was obvious that they did not review any of the applications at all. When we reported the case to their home office in Spain we were informed that the officer we met had probably made mistakes that we should reapply, we then put in our applications, we eventually withdrew our applications after they denied the daughter of the bride for a second time. On the day we went to pick up our passports the security guard told us that they only issued one out of 58 applications the previous day.

The wedding is now holding in London and everyone has gotten visas, some already had others had their applications expedited by the british embassy. the hotel in Spain is now losing somewhere around $100,000 in just hotel rooms by the time you add food for the 5 days we were going to be there they would have lost another $50,000 probably.

I have lived in both Nigeria and the US, they both have their advantages and there is no fair comparism because they are both very different. I will give you an example. In niaja i can go a year without work and still eat 3 meals a day, if my parents dont feed me my siblings, cousins , auntys, uncles, friends will feed me. But in Yankee you would be on your own for the most part. On the flip side, In the states when you have good healthcare, welfare and unemployment benefits.

You cannot compare housing costs in the states and Nigeria, In the sates you can rent a decent 2 bedroom flat for $700(in most cities) in naija first of all you have to pay annually, and you will probaby have to pay just as much, or maybe less but you have other costs like running your generator, buying water, and paying for security. I have attached pictures of houses for sale in the US right now, one is $300k and the other is $1m, The average VGC house will go for about $500k. land in ikoyi, vi or banana island costs over $1m

If you dont stand up for your rights they will continue to collect your money. I have been traveling out of MM airport for 10 years and i have never paid a bribe. if you declare what you are carrying the have no right to disturb you so fight for your rights. You are legally allowed to carry as much money as you want however if its over $10k you better have a damn good reason why you are carrying so much and also proof of where the funds are from.

My first time traveling i was only 18 and i was traveling alone with over $6k but i didnt pay anyone.

this list is made up by people with their heads in the clouds. go to cameroon and ask the average person you meet and they would rather move to nigeria than live there.

I was in the service in question as well and this topic is out oof context, also what is wrong with having church in a nice venue? The church does not pay 8.5 million to use the hall like outsiders do. And even if they did, why can't christians enjoy good things? most of you negative people here are just mad that you are not on the same level. Don't hate, let him be an inspiration to you. Embassies grant visas to corpers, i know this because i recieved my british visa on the 18th of may. you just have to be honest with them and show proof that you are employed and you will be coming back to work when you return, and also apply to nysc for leave and give your reasons they will grant it as well because its a valid excuse (the school is going on holiday so you wont have work there). so dont be discouraged by all the negative people on here.

my mother is a caterer and pays about 170k for a cow every other week, she also spends about 300k on other things, (goat meat, tomatoes, peppers, banga, other food items) can you imagine how much she will have to pay in penalties a month this is ridiculous. Until our infrastructure is ready for ebanking we shouldnt force it on people. Which market woman accepts VISA or mastercard? Our Pos systems rely on wireless technology, so when the weather is bad or if nepa takes light you will not be able to make purchases, how does that make sense?

Great idea, it will make people see that we will no longer stand by and watch people make casual statements that can incite violence. It will also send a clear message that people should watch the words the use when they are campaigning or at rallies

When Buhari was on the campaign trail and making statements like ", carry sticks and break their heads open" what did he think would happen if he lost? There are some things you should never say, except if your intention is to incite violence and stir up trouble.

You are right i just googled the candidates and turns out there are 12 southerners all together.

But with that said there are only 3 others who anyone would recognise, Pat utomi, Chris okotie and dele momodu. The only one on that list that had any hope of getting any votes is Pat Utomi and if you ask 100 people on the street they couldnt tell you what his party is. There is even a joke making the rounds about dele momodu it reads

Dele momodu went to his polling unit with his wife and 3 other family members, the result ward 10, unit 24 at wasimi community high school where he cast his vote is
PDP 177, CPC 65, ACN 41 NCP 1. should he
A. file for a divorce
B. Chase out his family members
C. Move to ghana

I live in Lagos and i only know of maybe 6 candidates, and i am very very involved in the process. Im currently doing NYSC and I was part of the registration excercise. I dont know of anyone who can name 10 candidates, most cant even name 10 parties. Even in Lagos most of those parties didnt even get one vote in Lagos,

I live in a very very pro ACN area and PDP won here convincingly im talking 80% of the votes. ACN directed their members to either vote PDP or not vote. That happened in Edo and Delta i know that for a fact. So it is very very believable that they would win 99% of the votes in the SS and SE.

The Average person in the SS &SE is a PDP person to start with and then when you factor in that GEJ is Ijaw and his wife is Rivers. While no other main party had a SS or SE person on the ticket. Looking at those factors its very easy to see how he got those high percentages.  I know people who went back to their villages in the east to register and to vote.
