Travel › Re: Masters Degree In Canada Or NYSC Program? by oshorstan(m): 8:49pm On Jun 15, 2017 |
segtak25: Good Afternoon ,
I need your Career advice on something have been thinking and researching on for some weeks now. i graduated from the University of Nigeria , Nsukka april this year. When I told my uncle Who had promised to sponsor me abroad for my Master degree earlier this year. He was very happy and said i should start the process for the admission in canada so that i can resume with them September 2018. According to him he said i should process the admission and Visa apllication when partaking in the compulsory Nysc.
The main Issue bothering me now is , I will be Mobilised for Nysc Program by november this year which will be completed October Nextyear(2018) Msc program in any institution in Canada starts September, that is a month before the completion of NYSC. Meanwhile, Institutions in canada commence course and other registartion for masters degree in August (2018).
There are two option i'm thinking of:
1.I am thinking of Skiping NYsC but afraid i might need it in future.
2.If i decide to put in for Nysc , There is a popular saying that "Opportunity knocks but once"..
We all know Nysc is getting smart everyday
Pls my fellow Nairalander , i need your advice on these .. Bro it's simple, after your orientation, redeploy back to your state & ghost.. very easy , so u can process your level. |

Family › Re: Nairalanders Help! My Dad Talks Too Much. by oshorstan(m): 7:24am On Jun 11, 2017 |
DY20: Hi Nairalanders!
"My dad talks too much" and by saying too much I did not mean he's crazy or something, I mean he talks sensible thing for an absurd long period of time.
Let me use 5 out of million of scenario to define my case.
1. Anytime the family is complete inside the house, and everyone is quiet; busy with something, I browsing on my phone, my little brother playing video game, my sister using beads, mum watching TV and my dad? Talking. When it is very obvious that no one cares to listen, he continue talking.
2. If any of my friends came to visit me, they will become my dad's guest. From the very first moment they say "Good morning" to him, he started talking, asking them questions, essp about their work, school, and talking about his own life too. Like what is happening now, I can see awkward smile on their face as they listen but just don't want to walk away leaving him embarrassed.
3. One day, I was chatting with girlfriend till late in the night, he woke up and say a light in the male children's room, he came in and started accusing me of internet fraud. We talked and talked till we settle it at dawn. From 2 to 4.30. In the morning, my dad started the topic with my mum again.
4. He talks every seconds when he is in the house or when anyone is with him.
5. He make anyone he saw with me (or any of my siblings) to introduce themselves. Indoor or outdoor.
I don't usually talk about my family affair with people but nobody knows me here or my dad.
I just want to know how to handle situation like this because I've started thinking of leaving the house. Maybe I'll learn to accept him when I don't see him everyday.
See? He is starting already... continues to talk when I'm not even looking at him. Hahahahaahah.. my love get use to it. my dad is so worse. He is a retired police officer , he has vaults of tales to tell. He has told us of how he married our mum, gave birth to all of us. how he pursued criminals n jailed them, his village life, etc... you go run. All of our friends enjoys his unending tales. as for me, I avoid him , I give him space so I won't be trapped. hahahaahahah I understand, its signs of old age. pls don't resent him |

Kolawole81: I recently realise i may have TMAU, the worst thing that can ever happen to a man. I get ridiculed by my coworkers and I've heard insults from family members,( especially my mother) about my body odor. I've even had two coworkers spray perfume on me behind my back. My brother and sister cover there noses around me and sometimes avoid me altogether including my father. When I talk with my sister she puts medicated lip balm above her lip. When i am in tge midst of my friends every one lights a cigarette. I brush my teeth twice a day or after every meal and I shower two times a day. I practice good hygiene and I've changed my diet. But I've asked my sister and family if i smell and they say no. I've asked my ex-girlfriend and she is extremely honest with me and she said no. I've asked close friends of mine and they've said no. It seems to vary from time to time. Yet just yesterday on my way to buy fuel from the filling station : NOW LISTEN TO THIS..
He dropped the fuel pump, gave me a look of horror, what came out of his mouth was a shrieking cry of revulsion as he fled. People around the vicinity covered their noses and looked at me. All this despite the fact my car Windows were up. I hit the accerator on impulse to flee and almost rammed into a metal barrier. I ran home and began to cry., then I realised how stupid it was if me to cry, I locked all Windows and stuffed tissue paper to cover any hole, watched National Geographic all day, vowing never to leave my house ever again.Screw my job, I quit,
.....the thing is I can't smell anything bad. In fact, I smell the perfume I spray and the lotions and soaps I use. I've never had this problem before and I am very frustrated, disappointed, angry, paranoid and I can go on with a two page essay on how I feel. How am I suppose to function in the world if I MAKE PEOPLE FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE AND REPULSE? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY WHY IS THAT PEOPLE MAKE THE FACES OR COVER THEIR NOSES BUT WHEN YOU ASK THEM DO YOU SMELL THEY LIE? YOUR HURTING MY FEELINGS BY THE THINGS YOUR DOING AND NOT LYING TO MY FACE WHEN I CONFRONT YOU............ I really can't smell anything bad about myself and truthfully I am withdrawing from family and friends and on the verge of committing suicide. Why should I have to cope with this problem I have no control over and expect the world to be understanding and compassionate................ It's spiritual, seek spiritual help from God through a genuine Man of God |

Christianity Etc › Re: Is it right to pray "Holy Ghost, Fire!" Against Enemies? by oshorstan(m): 9:46am On Apr 17, 2017 |
Shelloween: The answer is NO, but.... If Holy ghost fire really fired people, then we would all be dead. This is because someone, somewhere, somehow had invoked all degrees of holy ghost fire to devour you (yes you reading this) and you are not an exception too. You've asked holy ghost fire to burn your enemies. Everyone has an enemy. Everyone is an enemy to someone. So, we'd all be dead if Holy Ghost fired all the enemies in the world. (Sorry it's long. I haven't commented on any post since morning....I went From church to my house, then straight to the TV ( i watched man utd vs Chelsea game. #GGMU). I went to celebrate our victory with homies. I'm just coming back. Who asked me all this?... No one. I just talk too much.... Okay yeah! You can't talk with your hands. I write too much. So, i'm kinda bored, anyone willing to chat me up? Anyone? Just mention me... Lemme know how your own day went) hahahah... funny analogy, but what if you're an enemy to someone who prays fire, we all for done die cos God is a just judge. We tend to abuse certain privileges given to us. Even if na ant, roaches, fly, we go Begin use fire to pray. God help us.. that chelsea game pain me ooooo.. Christianity Etc › Re: Who Are The 3 Best Teachers Of The Scripture In Nigeria? by oshorstan(m): 4:45am On Apr 10, 2017 |
Bekwarra: Nigeria's obviously large Christian community is among the most devoted in the world. There are hundreds of Christian denominations in Nigeria both Orthodox and pentecostal. We have scores of christian teachers both living and dead that have put their footprints on the sands of time. They have demonstrated an in depth knowledge of the scripture and have also shown this time and over with their effortless and expert teaching of the Bible making them highly referred home and abroad. For me, these are the top 3 teachers of the WORD.
1. Pastor WF Kumuyi 2. Bro Gbile Akanni 3 Pastor EA Adeboye

Christianity Etc › Re: Kemi Olunloyo: We Should Stop Using Religion As Excuse For Character Defamation by oshorstan(m): 12:43pm On Apr 03, 2017 |
Rapmoney: Just recently, we have seen countless posts and articles on why Pastor David Ibiyiomie isn't acting like a Christian or why he should stop 'persecuting' the blogger, Kemi Olunloyo, a woman well known for her frequent defamation of people's character (a crime under the law) and her 'garage journalism' all in the quest to be famous.
Firstly, we should see Pastor Ibiyiomie as a bonafide citizen, a Nigerian, before we take a look at his religious background. He is a Nigerian like every other Nigerian who is entitled to protected rights as eshrined in our constitution. It amazes me that many folks talk about fundamental human rights, yet see everything wrong in punishing people found to have defamed the character of others and criticize the victims when they pursue their rights through legitimate means..
Defamation of people's character is against the law, whether we like it or not. Anyone who feels his character has been defamed is free to seek redress in law courts. It is not out of place. We should stop hiding under religious doctrines to support character defamation in Nigeria. Things like this are not condoned in saner climes. When you say or write negative things about people and accuse them of doing something evil, you must have concrete evidence. Character defamation is not and has never been a comedy or joke! Such things can cause damages and crises in the homes or organizations of victims. Now, we talk of forgiveness? Why did Ananias and his wife, Sapphira die when it was said they told a lie? Why weren't they forgiven by God and the apostles as we have been told in the Bible? Irrespective of our different religions, you cannot separate the laws of the land from the citizens. Even Jesus recognized the laws of the state as at then when he paid taxes to the Roman government. In essence, the law should be allowed to take its course irrespective of our religious doctrines.
Most of these folks castigating Pastor Ibiyeomie never cared to caution Kemi Olunloyo when she was busy writing stuffs about people where there was no concrete (even soft) evidence. The hypocritical nature of many Nigerians has come to play again. How many articles did we read cautioning Ms Olunloyo when she was writing what she wrote? Now, we are seeing floods of posts and articles on social media condemning the pastor on his stand. Sincerely speaking, being a Christian does not mean one should not exercise his or her fundamental rights; it does not mean one should condone character defamation. How many of us do ask if Kemi Olunloyo had any evidence to prove her claims as at when she wrote about the pastor. I am not speaking as a religious person; I am speaking as a Nigerian citizen who is much aware that citizens possess fundamental rights which they should enjoy. I don't know Pastor Ibiyiomie personally and I have never been to his church before. I am not one of those who shout "judge not" or see pastors as saints. What I am saying in essence is that Nigerians should stop criticizing the man because he decided to take a stand that would see that his rights are protected by the law. What is the essence of a crime when there is no punishment?
Kemi Olunloyo deliberately defamed a citizen's character. That is the fact; whether it involves a pastor, magician, juju priest or a Bhudda whorshipper is irrelevant here. She should face whatever punishment the law dishes to her. Let it serve as a lesson for others who defame the character of others, especially, on social media, as a thing of joke or to increase popularity. well said |
NYSC › Re: Doctor Corper Posted To A Military Hospital Cries Out For Help by oshorstan(m): 8:21pm On Apr 01, 2017 |
meilleur: I AM LOSING MY MIND, KINDLY ADVISE. I am a doctor and corper, posted to one of the military hospitals in Lagos. I was actually pregnant b4 service and few months in service, I was delivered of a baby. I was made to observe my maternity leave and I resumed this January but ever since resumption, it has not been easy. I returned this Jan to meet a newly posted military boss (doctor) who hasn’t made life bearable for my daughter and I I was initially taking my baby to work, but as a baby, she is susceptible to infections of all kinds. I opted to take her to a day care. I worked 8am to 2pm before this new boss, but now, 8am to 4pm. And two weekends in a month, I do ‘weekend call’ which makes the matter worse, for such a week, I practically have few hours to spend with my baby and the government is talking of 6 months exclusive breastfeeding. I met with another LGI who said corpers were not meant to do calls. I don’t need all time off work, all I need is my normal 8am-2pm, Mon to Fri I was doing and I will manage to cope without complaining. I thought NYSC promised married and nursing mothers a better treatment, if not, I would have waited till this yr, now that I am even 30. My concern is my baby, she is growing seriously lean by the day, she lacks attention and my boss doesn’t care. She has had persistent rashes and big boils for over a month she resumed day care and its totally driving me crazy. I went to see my Local govt inspector to complain only for him to chicken out just because a military woman lambasted him on phone, leaving me to my fate. If something bad happens to my 5-month old daughter, NYSC wld say, "but why were u silent?" It’s a military setting and really don’t know the process of lodging complaints. My boss seems to be a sadist, maybe not, but she has really never been nice to me. A scenario; My baby was hot overnight and I felt I needed to watch her a little before dropping her at the day care, and I felt I needed to inform my boss. I called her, no response, sent her a text message of late coming, she didn’t respond only for me to get to work and she said all sorts. Her own grown child fell ill, she took the day off. If this is what NYSC is all about, it is seriously not worth it! I have 2 months to complete NYSC, but I can’t help seeing my baby in this condition. Even at work, I lose focus. Can u imagine what a doctor out of her senses can do?? Its tearing me apart!! Am I taking it too personal or the treatment should be fairer? I am literally losing my mind and nobody is fighting my course. WHAT DO I DO? Your lgi is afraid, pls report to the ZI or state coordinator. simple |
