Explorers: North Koreans have been banned from laughing or drinking for 11 days to mark the tenth anniversary of former leader Kim Jong Il's death.
Government authorities have ordered the public to not show any signs of happiness while North Korea commemorates his death.
Kim Jong Il ruled North Korea from 1994 until his death in 2011, and was then succeeded by his third and youngest son, current leader Kim Jong Un.
Now, ten years after his death, North Koreans are being forced to observe the 11-day period of mourning where they are not allowed to laugh or drink alcohol.
'During the mourning period, we must not drink alcohol, laugh or engage in leisure activities,' a North Korean from the northeastern border city of Sinuiju told Radio Free Asia (RFA).

People gather at an event for the 10th anniversary of the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il in Pyongyang, North Korea, on Wednesday.
At midday Friday, as a siren blared for three minutes, North Koreans across the country fell silent and bowed in respect for Kim Jong Il.
Fake breast, fake buttocks, fake complexion, etc. These things are not in your DNA and, therefore, cannot be transmitted to your children. What's the point really?
You are dark in complexion, your husband is dark, both your parents are dark, in fact dark complexion runs in your lineages, then you bleach your skin and still end up producing children with dark complexion.
How did people become so vain!
Pure, natural and unadulterated features are still the best. Features that a father or mother can pass on to his or her children are what should be celebrated and not fake, artificial features.
If your son or daughter cannot inherit that beauty because it is fake or artificial, should you be flaunting it?
What a world!
We, the saints, servants and messengers of Yahushua the Messiah, of YHVH Almighty, say no to fake or artificial lifestyles.
El Elohe Yahshrael! Hallelu YAH!
From my point of view, the major reason is low self esteem. We should know that we are wonderfully and fearfully made especially my gender
SonofIssachar: There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me – The Twelve Days of Christmas.
What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and, especially, the partridge who won’t come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?
This week, I found out.
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics.
It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.
1. The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ. 2. Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments. 3. Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love. 4. The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John. 5. The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament. 6. The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation. 7. Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit–Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy. 8. The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes. 9. Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit–Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.
The ten lords a-leaping were the Ten Commandments. The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples. The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles’ Creed. This knowledge was shared with me and I found it interesting and enlightening. Now I know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol.
Have a Meaningful Yuletide Season!

HushNews: Reactions have followed a trending video of two Nigerian ladies seen cooking and pounding food inside a heavy flood in Lagos The two ladies appear to be members of a family whose residence is submerged by flood in an unnamed part of the state As the two ladies cooked and pounded absentmindedly, other voices could be heard from the background, but it is not known if the voices belonged to other members of the family.
At one end of the flooded area, another young lady could be seen pouring and mixing substances in a small soup pot placed on a tripod hearth. In other for the fire to glow, the hearth was placed on a tray. White smoke escaped from the hearth, signalling the presence of fire as the lady cooked absentmindedly. The lady was standing outside a small local kitchen which is partly submerged by water.
A small match-box house could be seen at one end of the flooded compound. Manly voices could be heard from the background, apparently of men waiting to eat the food the ladies were cooking inside the flood. It didn't appear as if anyone was worried by the flood, as the video showed people doing house chores as if it was normal to live inside flood water.
This is a no no. The ladies should consider their health . Dipping themselves into the flood is not hygienic. Moreover, during the pounding, dirty water can be splashing into the mortar
December festivities is almost upon us and so is it's blessings, love and merry cheer!
In years 2017, 2018 and 2019, we did something on the threads below, that not only touched lives, but brought joy to every individual that participated.
2020 was the COVID year so ummmm….
Moving on, we decided to do it on a yearly basis, so that we'd all have a reason or two to smile every Christmas.
Like explained in the threads above, all you have to do is come online and post pictures of things you'd like to give away and indicate your location so that an interested person could reach out.
You can give away things ranging from old clothes, shoes, devices, food ingredients, services, even books.
Nothing is too small or too big.
We would love EVERYONE to be a part of it and that's why we decided to start the awareness this early. So go to your bags, closets, shelves...bring out those items you don't need or no longer have use for, clean them up and take pictures of them to post and give out to those in need. And if you have no item to give, you could give out recharge cards, ebooks, cash gifts too are welcome. Everything counts and could be a blessing to someone out there. Please do not make it a collection thread.
THE DATE FOR THE GIVEAWAY IS DECEMBER 24th 2021 (TOMORROW) so you all have time to get your items ready to be given out. I’d also advise you follow this thread so as not to miss out on this.

oshorstan: Maximum Eulogy to my Friend and Brother, Don Risky Ebosele. A man of Immense impact. You don't need to wear suit and tie, or greet in tongues to be called a man of God. Whenever you obey this law of giving, you're a Friend of God. Remember, whatever you do for the least of your brother, that you have done for me. That was the very own word from God, from his own lips. I celebrate DON, because of how good he has been to me. He has oiled the wheels that life friction ate. He has removed shame from my eyes, and made me have hope and confidence in my ability. I know what you mean to me. And I won't play with the friendship. DON doesn't think about himself, as most rich guys would do, but he thinks about the uplifting of others, and what he can do to support the pursuit. I admire his humility. Most rich guys reek of pride and pompousness , which makes them to alienated. I ADMIRE a humble wealthy man ! Don does not treat his domestic staff as a lesser being, rather he makes them happy , treating them with total respect. What a Man! God bless you Sir.
On Behalf of My Friend , We appreciate you Sir.
God will honour you in Jesus name.
Oshor Omigie
Even though I don't know who you are but just like the OP said, may God bless you Don Risky. As you go about making people happy, God is taking note and He will reward you beyond your expectations. You will never know lack all the days of your life. Amen
Mariangeles: See! Christmas is almost here o, and as we all know, it is a season to spend that money unapologetically. As you're making plans and buying for others, don't forget to include yourself in it. So, in the spirit of the season, get yourself a special something that excites you. Be generous to yourself.
What are you gifting yourself this Christmas?
I no wan read lamentations o.
Oh! How I wish I can just gift myself something, no matter how small like new set of underwear. Joyfully "I" am on hold for now, my kids are my priority now. By the grace of God, I hope to arrange rice and Titus fish for all of us. Hopefully there will be light so that when they will be watching TV, I will pamper myself to looooong hours of sleep.
What a show of love and kindness from a total stranger! I am grateful sir. You will never know lack. God will grant you your heart desires. Remain blessed.
I am wired in such a way that when I cling to a particular thing, it so hard for me to change. My routine has been from my house to work( teaching) then to church Monday to Friday then weekend is from house to church and back to the house. My life is so monotonous that honestly I am bored. To your question, I joined my current church in 2015. The seat where I sat the first day I entered the church(first chair on second row by the left-hand side) is where I sit up till date. I sat there few hours ago.
seunlayi: Every church have their own seating arrangement that matches best with their way of worship. With the options available, from theater seating, pews, in-the-round and even removable seating arrangements, within the church there’s no doubt that the seating style and arrangement that a church chooses sets the tone for the overall worship and personal service experience of worshippers...
Many worshippers won't bother on which place or position to sit in church to get the best concentration but simply comply with whatever instructions the church Ushers\Wardens etc gave to them.
But for some (inclusive me), sitting position really matters since I hate distractions especially when sitting behind youths, at the rear area of the church, etc.
Also, many prefers to sit at the rear part of the church, not because they came late, but to have proper view of whatever is happening in the church (set awọn monitoring spirit), , some will always be outside the church as if they forgot something at home..... But no matter what, the position the Usher directs us to should be appreciated
For you, which position or part of the church do you prefer to sit?
Let's rub minds together. Together we must make it to Heaven and reign with christ Externally
