IBvoss:The MSM hold on many Nigerians is huge problem. It makes the west look so benevolent. But that’s often no the case. I wish many Nigerians could form a habit of reading alt-media, there you read the behind stories and the real story.... not CNN, BBC, ABC, MSN nonsense! Good alt media: Thesaker.is MoonofAlabama.org thegrayzone.com Southfront.org |
MansoryMX:It might interest you to know that in 2013, US asked several European countries to force a plane carrying Evo Morales (then president of Bolivia) to land in Austria, so that they could apprehend Edward Snowden. They closed their airspace and forced the plane to land in Austria. It was searched but Edward Snowden was not on board. There is nothing “unprecedented” about this. Western countries have been doing same for years. In 2010 the U.S. wanted to arrest a man who was on a flight from France to Mexico. On U.S. instigation the plane was diverted to Canada where the man was arrested and later transferred to the U.S. Read: https://www.moonofalabama.org/2021/05/lukashenkos-revenge-served-cold.html#more |
Kanymann:Ecurrency Exchangers? You mean P2P? That's way toooo risky! |
Kanymann:How does one buy the Ecurrencies? Is it something I can buy from the bank directly? |
OsuMustGo:Alright bro. Thanks. PS: Ogun & Ibadan not possible we are in a lockdown here in Lagos. Another thought, oil price rising, won't USD fall? |
OsuMustGo:About 20k. But you know P2P will not be possible. Any legit platform for foreign remittances like worldremit? |
Hi Guys, Is there any convenient way one can transfer dollars to Australia during this lockdown? The Aboki guys are no longer selling dollars. They are all closed due to lockdown. The banks are not selling. Any solution ? Someone said worldremit; does that work in reverse like sending funds from Nigeria to other country?
|
Why isn't the naira adjusting to this news ? When oil price fell, the naira depreciated to 400 and further down to 415 when BDC stopped bidding for a 14 day holiday. Today there is good news but this currency just remains negative, why?

EgunMogaji2:Thanks for an update on these questions. Many returnees also have the same views as you regarding who the culprit of our problems is: the people! I really have no idea how we can correct these character flaws in us. Education system isn't really helping, and many faith preachers have completely lost it.Their words are having no impact on the people. But then some have stretched this further to make it a "race" thing. They point to the fact there is no one single "wholly" black nation that's considered developed. I have been to just a few like Rwanda, Ghana and South Africa. I must say Rwanda really has it's acts together. It was neat and orderly. Airport was small but clean and functioning. South Africa is okay but you know it was built by the Europeans but those "brothers" in hillbrow and similar suburbs or cities really make one ask the question -is the problem a race thing? Did you witness similar character flaws amongst AA in the US? |
EgunMogaji2:Hello Mr. Mogaji. I came across your thread, and I am particularly interested on what you think the problems are in Nigeria. As someone who has been out of here for over three decades, you certainly see things a lot clear than some of us here. What's the problem with Nigeria? Is it the people, is it our culture, or is it government? There are many thoughts on this but then I'd like to know how you see it as a recent arrival. Obviously you are seeing the problems that we all here have gotten use to and don't see as necessarily a problem... We bribe to make way, pee on the road..etc. Those who say the people are the problem point to the fact that the government is made by the people; and I don't mean election here. Those that make up the leadership are the people. They are not from Venus or Mars. The police units that kill indiscremently are the people. The people fill the roads and drainages with plastic bags and thrash and wail when government fails to its duty. Is the problem the people? Or is it the culture? A belief that some magical being (juju) will make you rich and powerful and have a life if you sacrifice life to it rather than hard work. Hypocrisy is rife. The bigwigs would rather make "audio " donation: 1.5 billion, 1 Billion; but if you look closely that clinic or general hospital not far from them does not have a functioning incubator, not to mention ventilator. Or is the failed leadership? The failure of leadership is everywhere. They'd rather buy luxury cars for themselves than buy ventilators for the sick. See them begging online for it than buy it I hope these questions do not derail your thread. You could incorporate your thoughts to these questions in one of your chapters. Many thanks and stay safe. |
i know you are young but please don't act like a kid. Just send 8k to the guy and ask him to delete this thread... It's that simple. |

www.nairaland.com/3229067/alaba-market-custom-men-break Since last week, custom men in 12 pick-up trucks have raided two shops andcarted away goods in Alaba market at 2am(at night). One of the shop had okirika(used clothes) in it. The other raidedyesterday(14/7/2016) was a used fridge and freezer shop. According to the security guards, they were held at gunpoint by the custom men and their phones were seized. They broke down the shop doors, taking away used fridges and used clothes(Okirika). The market association at Alaba Market (St. Peter Road) are complaining to the police but they are not getting any help from the police station at Ojo. These are mere traders whose shops were broken into at night. They are not importers of these goods. I wonder if this act by custom men is legal. Why a night time raid? Isn't it the court that issues a warrant to this effect? Is there any way one can report this issue to customs HQ? |
Vanpascore:Well, he took the wrong approach by going to labour office. The standard practice in this situation is to negotiate with the boss of the company that issued you work visa, then pay him off and then get a new labor contract from another company you like. Then you exit the country to kish island or back to Nigeria to do "U" turn after the new company have sent you a new work visa. That's how is it's done. If your current company makes a case against you now... Omo they will ban for some time in Uae. Negotiate... Negotiate... No agidi, no make trouble. I lived in that country for awhile and I understand the situation well. when a company seized my cousin's passport...police couldn't save him. Even the embassy.. Not even a court order. We spent money fighting the company ... It was a wasted effort. He came back to Nigeria with TC issued by Nigerian embassy. He got a new passport in Abuja and new labor contract/visa before he could return to UAE. |
Vanpascore:Guy. You are still on a visa. You don't have labor card yet, no residence permit. The process requires you on arrival to sign a labor contract, apply/undergo for medical test, apply for emirates iD. For now he's still on a visa. The company can cancel his visa and he will be required to leave the country. If he doesn't want to do the work, then let him inform the company to cancel the visa. Forget about all those glorifying jobs you were promised. It's pure slave labor at 1000aed monthly with crammed hostel accommodation. At labor office you can never win! |
ben1daEbiri:Bro, please can you sketch a rough illustration for me on paper, take a photo and upload here? |

Thanks bro. That LNBF at 5 o' clock is now understood. It's currently at 6 o' clock. Will skew to 5 o' clock. See my current pan position.

Attn iykmora, hotobo , Christgalaxy , ManirBK , please see above - photos and compass reading. I appreciate all the help. |
graphicicon:Hello graphicicon and other fellows. Happy Sunday. No church for me today. I'm stuck in a "solve-a-riddle mode" since last night...lol. Now I guess the pan is facing East 96deg (standing behind the dish). Should I rotate to the right -to South 191degree? SEE COMPASS PHOTO Inclination. I guess it's inclined at an angle of 54... Should I face up to 78 degree? About skewing LNBF to 5'o clock. I am lost here. The LNBF handle is fastened to the dish by a bolt. It can not move clockwise. Can you show me a photo of your LNBF at 5' o clock? Update: I called the installer with the info you lovely fella provided, the f@cker said he can't do it. So I have to figure this out myself.
|
Christgalaxy:Hi Chris. No, I am not an installer. The installer I paid for the job left and he is not back since noon. I put up a photo of the dish position facing east (I took the photo facing South). From my dish position, should I turn to the right? What about the inclination? Pls help! |
ManirBK:Bro, the installer left me in this quandary. I'm just trying use my DIY skills here but I am falling short. SES5 @ 5 degrees East Inclination ? From my compass, I'm facing east. So 5 degree should read 95 on my compass, right? See photo
