ISpiksDaTroof: We don't entertain it, period! We throw it out IMMEDIATELY!!! Besides, if a lawyer tries it he risks getting sanctioned, losing his license, and disbarred. No lawyer out here is that foo*lish. You can't waste the time of the court or disrespect the Judge if you don't want your "life" to come to a screeching halt. Nigerian society just seems to have a problem with following rules, law and order. Wetkas cross examination has been on for weeks now. Can the judge give the defense council a deadline to wrap up the examination? Is that permitted in western courts? Are you aware any case where a western lawyer used this sort of tactics to delay proceeding? Can the judge intervene and halt such? Why can't the CCT judge in the case of Saraki or the judge in Dasuki's case throw out this sort of tactic by the defense team? Just curious. |

8BitGee: What is the role of the NBA and NJC in whipping in place all these debased lawyers we have out there these days? The judge is absolutely right. Joseph Daudu is famous for filing frivolous motions, while Riki Tafa is known for bribing judges.
BTW, VP Osinbajo and Itse Sagay, we need special courts to try corruption related offences now!!! The regular courts already have too much on their hands! Just curious, how do courts in developed countries handle the issue motion upon motion from defense lawyers to stall a case? |

I guess you are quite familiar with the items on demand by the Chinese. Donkey skin is now so expensive, I think rather than ban skin export, govt could encourage more people to raise donkeys and skin harvesting. I'm quite in support of wood export ban. At the moment they are deforesting Taraba and nasarawa for woods. Not good! And the ministries in these states aren't helping to curb excessive logging. All they care about is the money. |

You're not forced to come to the politics section, if you're tired of the bitter truth, I suggest you head over to the the Romance section. The discussion is about the impact of devaluation on first bank NPLs. Will first bank go bankrupt if naira is devalued? Are there other banks that may be affected? Should we withdraw our monies? We'll appreciate if you could just stick to that topic rather than go on about some Dr Jonathan blissful rule and Buhari. |

Remii: its neither her nor there, GEJ solved fuel problem with uncontrolled subsidy payout, spending almost all our income on subsidy, even unbudgeted, so in a way the evil days were postponed by GEJ. With low inflow, how can we continue uncontrolled subsidy? GEJ should have stuck his gun in 2012 by removing the subsidy and he would have had 3 years to prove he was right. PMB is also making mistake of just price increase to meet forex market forces instead of full deregulation. Can you expand on the difference between meeting forex market forces and full deregulation? Since these fuel importers tend work as a cartel, don't you think they might gang up and form a sort of monopoly on pricing? |

These folks would rather tie down ops personality and ridicule him than praise him for trying the alleviate the current tomato scarcity. My question to these folks with this mentality is this, what have you done to make tomato available? |

Business › Re: Naira Finally Devalued To N290/$ By Buhari by owagbeba: 10:46am On May 14, 2016 |
oduastates: Today's worst news. These same people are the main reasons why obj saved the Excess Crude and built up the foreign exchange. A patriotic act. Obj called their bluffs time and time over again. You are not independent country if you are a perpetual or chronic debtor. The IMF is controlled by powerful American investment banks. Those banks are only interested in making money by any means possible. After lending you the money, they will look for ways to make you pay over and over again. I am sure the IMF wants the exchange rate to float freely.
What Nigerian unpatriotic quacks say will happen Everything will normalise after borrowing from the IMF and devaluing the naira
What will actually happen
The political thieves, foreigners, foreign firms and wealthy Nigerians with naira trapped in the Nigerian economy will convert their naira to dollars and shipped them out. (The same thing happened in Greece.) The money borrowed ends up not providing any benefit to the country. In the meantime The Nigerian debt has becomes larger.
Now I expect the parallel market to devalue further in order to maintain their margin. That is, if they've not done so already. While I predicted the list directly below when Jonathan was squandering the country's resources, it is very important that Buhari rejigs is team, reorder his budget and rethink policy to deliver better services delivery as quickly as possible. (E.g step can be taken to reduce 25% of Nigerian fuel consumption in Lagos) Emphasis on quickly.
Runaway Inflation Civil servants strikes for more salaries More inflation More hardship for non civil servants. Interest rates will go up.
The Nigerian economy is bedevilled by evil spirits( Nigerians). The only places where the economy works are in poor autonomous or isolated villages where
1 prices are not set arbitrarily. 2 the laws of demand and supply actually works. 3 The value of the naira is governed by it's purchasing power and not the foreign exchange value. 4 inflation is low (local goods). Not sure if this news is confirmed, but I think it imperative for one of the bigwigs-be it the CBN governor or the president, to publicly denounce this rumor. If not done soon enough, the forex black marketers will runs off with this rumor and hoard the dollar anticipating a devaluation. Honestly, our biggest problem is us. For months now, the dollar has remained steady hovering around 320. There wasn't that panic buying or hoarding experienced early this year. Just for the fact that petrol subsidy was removed, these mongrels or BDCs decided it's time to switch on the panic mode. Any "significant" correlation between subsidy removal and black market dollar hike? Now dollar is 360. And with this rumor of devaluation it might hit 400 again. Just too tired of Nigerians! |

Come to think of it and it's reality, is his vision workable? Dangote has been in all government from inception, why has he not built the refineries and other things he listed herein?
He was with the democratic government from 1999 till date, and why has he not built the refineries in order to stop importation of the refined petroleum products?
He was out there establishing companies and expanding the economy of other African nations and they all forgot about sorting out the problem of the common man in Nigeria.
When they want to get award, they start speaking of what to do.When they want to get election, they start speaking and promising what they will do and at the end, the politicians will start looking for ways to get oil blocks and exporting it and stealing the nation dry.
Let us watch and see his speech and promises come to reality. Only then can we start praising him.Nigerians are too deceitful.
