Sultan Erdogan fanboys, where are thou? grin

Erdogan's plate was full: repression of the press and heavy handed crackdown on freedom of speech, providing aid jihadists in Syria and Iraq and allowing them free unhindered access through Turkey, illegal cross border incursions into Syria and Iraq, the genocidal crackdown on Kurds where several Kurish cities were wiped out, shooting down a Russian jet which in turn tanked the economy when Russian tourists stopped visiting and the general instability that Erdogan's actions brought upon his country are all possible reasons why these brave military officers have staged this coup

Erdogan's apology to Putin and his move to seek a detente in relations with Russia and step back from his ill-advised and delusional goals came too late. Good riddance!

CC: Zoharariel, Appleyard, Scully95
Good riddance indeed! I'm more than excited at this news. If by tomorrow this coup holds, President Assad of Syria would be assured of victory over all them Gulf state-sponsored jihadists and USA's al"CIA"da.

Crime › Alaba Market: Custom Men Break And Enter Shops At Midnight by owagbeba(op): 8:55pm On Jul 15, 2016
Since last week, custom men in 12 pick-up trucks have raided two shops and carted away goods in Alaba market at 2am (at night). One of the shop had okirika(used clothes) in it. The other raided yesterday(14/7/2016) was a used fridge and freezer shop. According to the security guards, they were held at gunpoint by the custom men and their phones were seized. They broke down the shop doors, taking away used fridges and used clothes (Okirika).

The market association at Alaba Market (St. Peter Road) are complaining to the police but they are not getting any help from the police station at Ojo.

These are mere traders whose shops were broken into at night. They are not importers of these goods. I wonder if this act by custom men is legal. Why a night time raid? Isn't it the court that issues a warrant to this effect?

Is there any way one can report this issue to customs HQ?

I thought france was smart. They hace disappointed me. The whole western countries have disappointed me. Maybe the uk have better in terms of their policies.

I no fit talk again

Bro, the western elites never learn no matter the blowbacks; and Uncle Sam is always pushing these European countries to the fore. France again is in league with the US, UK, Italy in support of General Haftar to fight another Libyan war. They are currently conducting ops against ISIS in sirte (Libya). Now we all know how we got here -the U.S. And her allies( France included) bombed and overthrew Gaddaffi leaving the country in the hands of Jihadist. These same jihadist are terrorizing Europe and her citizenry.
Look at Syria, France is there with US and UK
Look at Iraq, messed up country.
Still these Europeans are tagging along with US in her hegemonic wars.

I am really sad ordinary citizens are bearing the brunt. I wish it were the elites who make these wars

You called a Nation of over 180 million innocent people "Fantastically Corrupt" now Karma has caught up with you.

Buhari, you agreed that Nigeria is "Fantastically Corrupt", you will follow Comeron soon.
What?! What hell is wrong with him calling us Fantastically corrupt? Infact our level of corruption is beyond fantastic. UK PM put it mildly because we know we are cruelly corrupt to our own detriment.

Let me remind you that there isn't any Karma in this, it's just plain politics. He took the decision to call for a referendum; and referendum failed on his watch. Has our country ever held a referendum? Because the rest of the 180 million in this shyt hole never matters to rest of the 1% ruling elite. Infact,to the fantastically corrupt elite we(180M) don't exist.

Now the decision to resign was his; and that's exemplary leadership. Not like the goons we have here who have multiple cases of "serious" fraud and extreme embezzlement hanging over them, yet they cling onto power.

And those clicking "like" for such a statement by this dude makes wanna cry for this country. Where is the "brain" in what he wrote? Is that we have lost it in this country or are we just reproducing more goons that will in future lead this country?

There was a story I saw on Emmanuel TV that made me so sad for days. It's about one d!ckhead who married a Mongol and settled with her in Aba. This dude so abused this lady for years that she had to run to Synagogue church for help. Did you see that story? It's on YouTube.

I just wonder why some people still find it hard to comprehend statements written in very elementary English.

My advice was targeted at those keeping dollars for speculative reasons, not for savings.By the way, if you are not into international business or a frequent user of foreign currency, why save in dollars at the detriment of your country's economy?

The new Forex regime could now be likened to what is obtainable at the stock market.

Now is the time to sell your Dollars!

The new Forex regime is only a temporary monetary policy strategy to address the issue of foreign currency supply. On the long run,the strength of the Naira would be determined by both fiscal and monetary policies. Higher local productivity and exports will in the long run boost the value of the Naira.

As a fiscal policy,I will advice the FG to ban the importation of ALL items that are currently being produced in Nigeria,to further reduce the pressure on the Naira. Basic economic common sense ?
Well, I am hanging on to Goods(imported) till the hysteria is over. I think it's a bit risky holding dollar or naira in this uncertainty. Currently the value has dropped from 370 to 355. I think there's a growing urge amongst the forex trader(black market) to sell off dollars for naira

bejeiodus:
I don't think it's appropriate for Mo Ibrahim to comment on why an individual didn't win his award. Is the recipient no longer being selected by a board? The board who thought Jonathan unfit for such award should have been the one to give reasons for overlooking him. Jonathan's inability to clinch the award doesn't detract from his achievements. He cannot scoop every available award. Jonathan had his failings like every other leader before him, but no one can say he left no notable mark.
Well, Mo' didn't comment about any individual including Jonathan. All he said was his award is for excellent leadership. And he didn't see that in 2015.

Personally I don't think Jonathan's leadership was stellar in any sense. It would have been nice if Jonathan harnessed the massive support he had from many sectors to industrialize this nation. But this was not the case. Just like many Nigerian "aristo" they don't think industry. Too into consumerism - flashy cars, business jets, grande building. CBN estimate the elite group to worth $20 billion in stashed savings. Imagine the level of change that could happen if these Aristo invest their stash into manufacturing.

Many sectors especially food processing need massive investment. Look around the market and see tonnes of fruits and veggies that are left to rot. There are heaps of rotten oranges at Iyano-iba. These are goods hauled from the north. Well thanks goodness for Dangote.

BUT NO THANKS TO IWUANYAWU!!

Having gone through your previous post, it's very clear that the marriage is established on a faulty foundation. I'm counselling as a true child of God. We always advice intending couples that they engage in much prayers before marriage against the plots of the wicked and for God to stop the marriage if it is not going to be favourable.
With this, there is still hope for you in God. Prayers are needed to correct all that are not right. I will advice that you forget about divorce as that is never a good option. There are forces that fight marriages. Some of them remain silent till immediately after the marriage.
With God, all things are possible.
Just curious, what forces fight marriage? You mean emotional forces or some spiritual thingy?

Politics › Re: What Really Is Wrong With This Administration? Unlucky Or Incapable? by owagbeba: 8:42am On Jun 11, 2016
I think our system of governance is rather annoying. Every one waits on the president. Take for example the tomato issue. We have a ministry of agriculture and research institute funded yearly by government. How did these institutions fail to arrest the tomato famine? Why wait on Buhari to tell them to act? It's a problem.

Nigeria has a ministry of Niger delta tasked with development of the region. But they failed! They did nothing for the people of the region after receiving budgeted allocation every year. So called militant Chiefs got all the money they could from Jonathan's government but they did not build ONE FACTORY to employ the young lads. Rather they flew first class to Dubai , bought expensive houses and luxury cars. It's a shame!

CBN waits on Buhari
NEPA waits on Buhari
Governors wait on Buhari
Oil marketers wait on Buhari.

Can't they just carry on their duties? Why must they have to fold their hands and wait on the president to tell them to act? With this style this country CAN NOT develop.

The police lad in Arlington TX does not have to wait on Obama in Washington DC to act. He knows his duty. The local clerk at the registry doesn't need to wait on his "Oga" before issue a birth certificate. He know his job. But here in Nigeria it's so horribly different. Everyone waits for the "Oga" before anything is done. It's just plain stupid.

Flexible exchange rate, Yuan deal, all hanging in the air. This is what uncertainties breed: fluctuation.

Going thru the comments, I do not think this is the right time to be doing back and forth on who's to blame less or blame more -- that's waste of energy -- burning resources we don't have (time, MB, battery life/energy, sweat, and e.t.c) without learning anything, nor proffering anything.

Solutions we can all glean from would rather be more appropriate use of time right now -- time = Naira/Dollar.
Please what do you think of this CBN chap?

It's obvious CBN inability to make clear the flexible exchange policy is fueling Naira flip flop. For 2 weeks now he hasn't come up with clarity. What's wrong with the chap?

Honestly I am tired of raising prices to meet current exchange rate. I have reached a point of not breaking even on most products.

In fact there are many doctor from the developed world traveling to the remotest part of Africa with medical aids for the people. When Ebola hit west Africa, doctors were scrambled from many countries(US, China, UK etc..) There are 'Doctors Without Border' doing great jobs in many war -torn countries. That's help! Help to the people who need it most.

Now the point the other guy was trying to buttress is that "these Healers" should do more for humanity. If they are favored by God to heal the sick, let them do it selflessly. Go to hospitals, lay hands on the sick. Heal the people. Help humanity for God sake!
