musicwriter: As long as we operate with THEIR language, education, religion, we'll forever remain under their influence even if Britain migrate to the moon. Desmond Elliot (an English name and probably a better colonialist) or you or me isn't an exception. But, of course, some are always going to be better than others. Brother, I beg to differ on the aforementioned. Their “formal” education has in no way hindered our development. Take a look at Hongkong, Singapore; these are all former British colonies. They have all surpassed us in human development index. I think our core problem is avarice. And our politicians and elites are no different: The money spent on 2021 Bentley can build Several tomato paste factories for the indigenes of Warri. Money spent renting private jets to “that” wedding in the north could set up a orange processing plant in the north. Visit Iyana iba and see oranges gone to waste. No refrigerated trucks. It’s sad being a Nigerian at times. |

musicwriter: The British colonialists have been replaced with native colonialists. Our leaders are the new colonial masters.
Most people think that colonialism has ended and that Britain no longer control their former colonies. But Britain is still a major part of our problem via the elites who they've created as conduits to keep enslaving us. These conduits are mostly those born around the 1940's, meaning that they were in their 20's when colonialism officially ended. But problem is that they grew up with that colonial mentality, which is why if you go to Obasanjo's house, the only pictures he deems fit to hang on his wall are those he took with white people.
Once these old generation Africans pass away, we may be able to enter into a new age in African political structure. However, Britain is already countering that in advance by making sure they train the next generation Africans. This is the real reason for all the so called partnership in education and scholarship schemes you hear about. They recently held a conference on education in London and it's all about creating future leaders in their former colonies who won't be an obstacle like Jaja of Opobo. So Britain is still covertly in charge. Brother, you made a lot sense in this reply. I am aware the Brits always try to pull the strings in their former colonies either through groomed influencers or media narrative (BBC comes to mind) But then I have looked at this dude’s background: Desmond Elliot -a Law maker in Lagos, young man, not in the age bracket of those born with colonial mentality. We all think with these youths in power, governance would change. We are wrong! A few of his accomplishments has been that infamous toilet he built and nothing more! Probably, we may never find good governance in this free-for-all democracy we practice. |

SportsHD: Wow. Why was he exiled in the first place?
Modified- screw the white power. Just like how america and Britain abandoned Afghanistan after they've justified spending "war budget" and obviously, made x10 profits from their initial "investment" in afghan.
Just like how the Royal niger company destabilized the giant of Africa after sucking it dry and,and still sucking it. They also brought two politicians who hate eachother (lord lugard and lord I've forgotten his name) to rule over the south and northern protectorate of Nigeria. It was all about politics and what they stand to gain in the name of the queen. This also goes to our kinsmen that we're backstabbers, sellouts, ffuck them in their graves. Everyone just keeps taking and taking from Africa. Down to all our military rulers, yakubu Gowon and the cement armada, 47$million dollars in gains, that's in the 70's. That's one of the numerous white whale projects. Down to the civilian rule. The shit hole keeps getting shiitier. I've successfully derailed the thread so, welcome to Alcatraz! Our problem now is not the British colonialist; it’s these blood-sucking politicians who are so adamant in making us all suffer for their gluttony. Look at Abia state. The present ruler is inept. The two previous ones were so competent in looting all meant for the poor citizens. You see them at every high-profile birthday/wedding bash, grinning in comfort. |

Saintkollyjoe: Thanks very much. Here is the transcript: I have been blessed by the members of this forum and I thank everyone that have shared their Transcripts or have answered questions here. I have been a silent participant in the forum. In April 2021, I got admission with full funding to University of Wyoming to do M.A history. Fast forward to June 29 when my i-20 arrived, tye available dates for interview were in 2022. I asked for emergency appointment but when it was not forthcoming, I engaged an agent to find dates with the reschedule appointment tool for me and I got August 20 appointment. My resumption nis august 18 on my i-20. It was on this forum that I learnt that I can get a revised i-20. In short my revised i-20 reached my email in the midnight of August 20. Now I must print but my appointment is 7.30 am. I got to the Abuja embassy before 6am. Omo entrepreneurial NIgerians are already on ground! Printing was expensive but I was happy to pay. They also scammed me by saying that my DS 160 submission confirmation read Lagos instead of Abuja and so I must change it to Lagos otherwise they will send me back. I said no but being my first time , I ended up paying. The gate hustlers also condemned my passport photo graph. Anyway Sha I snapped another one. In all I was milked of 22k naira. I joined the queue at 7.15am. I have read all transcripts here and I was prepared with responses. Someone also coached me the day before interview. I have with me two company certificates, landed property, marriage certificate and many rehearsed speeches on why I will return to Nigeria. I entered the interview and it was then I knew that my Lagos information for DS 160 is to be transferred to Abuja and I must wait Another 1 hour. It was then I knew that gate hustlers don scam me. While I wait only two approvals were granted and about six denials. At that moment, like a person given life imprisonment sentence, I started imagining how beautiful life under NIgeria and Buhari can be if one accept your fate. Then I was called to enter again for interview. V.o good morning Me: good morning ma'am. V.o I can see you are going to the University of Wyoming Me: that's correct. V.o: what do you do here in Nigeria? Me: I'm a teacher and I teach History. ( In the cubicle there was a male white guy standing near the white female interviewer observing the computer screen. The white guy nodded at my response). She typed. V.o: said something I could not pick. And I told her that please come again. She Held up a slip on which 'thesis was written'. Me: yes my masters is thesis masters. V.o: no, I mean what is your proposed thesis topic? Me: oh, I shall working on prostitution during the colonial period of Nigeria
V.o : oh colonial prostitution. Me: yes, that's correct. V.o what will you be using this degree to do. Me: I shall be coming back to teach History at the University of Ibadan. V.o: teach at University of Ibadan? Me: yes, I've been promised a position there.( The white guy beside her nodded at this) V.o: I shall be approving your visa.... Me: I became deaf.to other things she was saying but I picked transit and pick up. I was given a white paper and she bid me best of luck. My interview was less than a minute. Please prayer works! I prayed. My pastor prayed. While at the interview my mum, my dad, my wife, my mother in law and an aunt, my children were praying for me. This is the first time in my life that things that is supposed to be difficult became absolutely easy! It was my first time at any embassy. It was my first application for any visa in this life! Ebami yin oluwo logo oooooo! Just curious, why we no dey understand when oyibo say “thesis.” Abi school teach us the wrong pronunciation? Your package makes sense. A history teacher going to research prostitution in colonial Nigeria. To an “oyibo” it correlates.. even more so when the course or research interests the V.O. |

They just opened his passport and close it back and hand him a white paper, they only question they asked him
What are you going to this country to do
Which airline will be using to US and my brother says Delta airline … that’s all From all my experience, travel history recorded on passport counts ... it makes the way easier. Even if it a transit through the G7 nations... it helps a lot. |

jojoey: Transcript Visa Approved: Aug 16, 2021 at Abuja Embassy 9am appointment First attempt
I give glory to God because he is the one that did it because I blabbed at some point but I was able to recover. The importance of being adequately prepared cannot also be over emphasized but it is God that blesses hard work.
I'll give some backstory and a bit of my profile. I started the process early this year, took the GRE and TOEFL exam. I tried to schedule an appointment in Lagos since June, waited as long as I could and switched to Abuja, early July. Got an emergency appointment date in Abuja which was eventually canceled after I had arrived Abuja and even paid for a hotel which was maddening. I came back, and after sending several mails my appointment was scheduled for the 16th of August. I eventually contacted @nigpatriot a few days to my interview because I wanted to be as prepared as I could. While praying seriously as well. I think I gave equal time to prepping and praying. I am a finance professional with over 3yrs experience and skill in auditing, accounting and finance. I have a degree in accounting and I am also a chartered accountant. Age: 26 Program: M.Sc Computer Science Funding: 8k Deficit: 19k I was interviewed by the white lady. She’s not trying to be funny or having any opinion or assuming things about you. I think she tries to give everyone a fair chance. VO: Good morning Me: Good morning, ma’am. VO: I see you are going for a master's program in computer science Me: Yes, I am VO: What do you do? Me: I work as an auditor at this company where I analyze the company’s financials and provide recommendations to management to aid decision making. I also carry out inventory data analysis to monitor inventory movement... cuts in... VO: What will this course do for you? Me: I will come back to Nigeria to take up a role in financial consulting. (This was where I goofed or thought I goofed because I had a wholesome answer to this question but it ran away at that point even after a lot of practice probably because I was a bit nervous.) I tried to back up the answer with: in the long run, I intend to start up a financial consulting firm that will use technology to carry out financial services. VO: Why this school? Me: I chose this school because they offer courses in data analytics technology and artificial intelligence which i'm interested in learning and this technology is changing the face of my industry. (I used simpler terms like this is how we do it now.) Also, this school awarded me a tuition waiver, I was about to say something else then she cuts in: VO: Who is sponsoring you? Me: My dad will be sponsoring me VO: What does he do? Me: He owns a business that is into the supply of construction materials to some of the top construction companies here in Nigeria. I mentioned the companies Vo: Okay your visa is approved she said something about countries to avoid and other things I didn't quite get. Me: Thank you, ma’am.
I was elated and I’m still very much thankful to God. I will continue to tell everyone about his goodness. Bro... make you thank God wella! Judging from this transcript, nothing stood out for me. It looked routine. Safe trip, bro. Remember those you are leaving behind. |

falseprophet: America and African wannabes need to understand that democracy is not for everyone.
They fought communism under the guise of liberating communist states from soviet domination and then use bombs, guns and military might to force Vietnam, North Korea, Iraq, Libyan, Iran, Syria, and Afghanistan into democracy. But they have failed 100%. This has always, in my view, been the problem of the west. They more than often tend to see the world only from their perspective. This is the reason why they waste trillions on nation-building and achieve absolute zero. They try to make multi-ethnic, multi-lingua, multi-religious country in their own “liberal” image. It won’t work! |

Wasn't it same America that armed them against the Soviets?
Democracy and "modernisation" is not by force. Same democracy they brought to Libya. Now see the country in ruins all to get at Gadaffi. I wish our people will get this into their head... democracy doesn’t entirely mean good leadership and authoritarian rule doesn’t entirely mean bad leadership. Rwanda is a case study |

motymop: The conversation wasn't about race, the black guy brought race up.
She asked him a very polite question, why are you filming? Are you filming because you are a film maker or making a documentary?
What has race got to do with the questions she asked.
The black guy who is Nigerian started ranting and talking about privileges and new south africa, how does it relate with the topic of discussion?
The black guy is suffering from mental issues, btw you have no right as a stranger to start videotaping a place without permission. You are right! Why is this dude videoing the neighborhood? For what purpose? If it were my neighborhood Or my house, I would have asked the dude the same question? Why are you videoing? He could have just explained to her that he is doing a documentary or vlogging? It’s that simple... why does he have to display this stupidity? |
